The integrated search feature of our directory queries the following database fields: Title, URL, Description and Keywords. You can also choose between AND and OR connectors. Additionally, you may limit your query on a specific category or search the entire database.
You can use the following search syntax to query the Japan Directory:
+word: placing a plus sign in front of a word will require that all records returned by the search contain that word.
-word: placing a minus in front of a word will ensure that no records returned by the search contain that word.
"phrase search": placing quotes around a string of words will direct the search to return records containing the string of words in the specified order.
+"phrase search": placing a plus sign in front of a quoted string of words will require that all records retrurned by the search contain the string of words in the specified order.
-"phrase search": placing a minus sign in front of a quoted string of words will ensure that no records returned by the search will contain the string of words in the specified order.
substring*: placing an asterisk next to a word or string will return records that contain the word or string as part of a larger string. For example, searching for "japan*" would return "japanese". Note that the asterisk does not require that the search string be preceded or followed by any other search string: searching for "japan*" would also return "japan".
