I usually receive a fair amount of spam every day, we all live with this predicament. Today ALL of my email addresses that pertain to Japanref-related domains were bombarded with junk. I assume someone must have signed me up to a few lists. I therefore decided to delete my entire set of email addresses @ japanreference.com, japanref.com and japanbanner.net and to disable my "catchall accounts". For the time being I will only rely on web-based accounts.
You can always reach me through the forum's email function or via PM.
Thanks for your understanding!

Make sure you fill in the email address that you used to register here, otherwise it won't work.

There's an "edit" button beneath your post, to the right. With that button, you can edit all of your own postings.

Hi... well my question is a little different...
I'd like to add a link to Japan Reference's forum since my website I almost released. If you agree I'd like to ask you some questions about the forum.
Thanks.

Dec 2, 2003, 09:42
Ah! Hi Twisted... well, these are the questions:
1. I can see the number of members in the forum's homepage, but I'd like to know the growing percent it has.
2. The date when the forum began, and,
3. The host country (where the forum owners are from)
Thanks Twisted.
Would it be possible to change my profile or Shown name to 'Areekisu'. Apparently this is my name in Japanese, pronounced in English.

You are a baron ! Congrats ! JREF titles use Japanese nobility titles of the Meiji, Taisho and early Showa eras.

celtician's responses to super_power's threads really raised my eyebrow. After looking at his thread history, all of his previous posts are angled at being insulting, most specifically to Japan and its people. Criticism is one thing, but his comments are crude, unconstructive, and seem to be the pointless blatherings of a blindly ethnocentric individual. I'm surprised he's flown under the radar for this long.
Dear Admins,
um, i'm not sure if this is the right thread to post this... forgive me if i'm doing something wrong.
My question is:
I've received a couple of email notification that says "****(someone's name) has just replied to a thread you have subscribed." and there's a link to the thread just like other email notification from JREF does.
However, when I click the link, there's no new post there.
Is this some kind of mistake at your side? or my side? or could it be that someone already delete their post?? or could it be... a spam mail pretending to be JREF?
I'm afraid my last guess might be it, as both the messages I received are exactly the same, though they were meant to be posted at completely different threads one another.
it says,
"Hi, my name is ****(her name). *****(someone's name, not mine), i saw your profile today and became intrested in you,i will also like to know you the more, and i want you to send a mail to my email address so i can give you my picture for you to know whom l am.Here is my email address (her address) believe we can move from here.I am waiting for your mail to my email address above. (Remeber the distance or colour does not matter but love matters alot in life)"
Anyone, any idea??
please help.
Thanks

The first messages you described are just subscription notifications; you can turn them off if you click your "my settings" button, then go to "List Subscriptions" on the left side.
The second e-mail is an unsolicited message and is definitely something a moderator or administrator should address. You should not have to suffer from any unwanted ナンパ, online or in real life. The question is, are you sure the "profile" they're talking about is from Jref? If you're sure they're someone from Jref, I'm sure an Admin would be happy to do something about it (send them a warning or something along those lines).

thank you so much for all your help, mike san(Mycernius

...i really wished i had been able to make myself understood a little better than that. sorry for the confusion or misunderstanding i've caused.
yeah, what i meant to say was i got the notification from JREF's address saying those NAMPA messages have been posted to my threads, but there weren't any posts. ^^;
...so, she wasn't really interested in me, huh? lol
anyway, thanks again, you all. phew, now i can go to sleep quietly. xD

It depends on the nature of the problem (is this your own post, reporting a bad one...etc :?), but I would first try contacting one of the admins (Thomas, Maciamo) or a moderator of the forum in question. If that doesn't work, any of the mods should be able to help on a general inquiry.
Well it's about a post of mine thats gone missing i guess it was deleted so i'm trying to find out why :?

You mean like a thread that you started ? I dont think individual posts can be deleted....What was the subject and where did you post it ? AFAIK something has to be off-topic, obscene, personally defamatory, etc. to get permanently trashed. I wouldn't try raising it again though until you're sure of the reason. :relief:
Sorry i'm always calling threads posts :sorry:
It was in the Japan on the web section i posted about my brothers website which is about Yugioh and Digital art and anime its called digital white dragon
I wanted to ask so i didn't post the thread again when i wasn't suposed to like you said :-)

Wow. It seems like the same guy striked again.. There was a similar incident a few days ago.. And a few days before that!!
I know the admins made a rule about a minimum number of posts (15) one has to post before he can post links (or was it pictures? I can't remember), but I guess that didn't stop him.. I guess all we can do is push the bad post report button (http://www.jref.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22679) and wait for a admin or mod to come online. :relief:

I am not exactly sure what happened as I am in office right now, but I have increased the number of posts you must have in order to post URLs and pics to 20 (and I will not hesitate to further increase it in case of repeated attacks) and also set the minimum number of characters in a single post to at least 20.
Furthermore, I am going to lock this thread, as it is not meant for emergencies. We appreciate your vigilance, but please open new threads in case of alerts or just report the post in question.
