They look kinda strange there but normally they look alright (before/during competitions you 'cut', lose body fat, to give the muscles definition).

Totally!
I am a bodybuilder as well. I do not compete in competitions as that is not my thing. But to make a comment that bodybuilders are retarded just shows what kind of a person you are. why would a man be a retard to want to create a good looking body? to be extremely strong? it is usually skinny weak boys that say that kind of ****. A bit like a beautifull model been told she looks like a slut by a fat chick.

Golgo_13
Jul 28, 2004, 03:25
I don't take any. Other than steroids, there is nothing out on the market worth your money that's safe and legal that will help you make incredible gains.
The most important factors in making gains in strength and size is proper, intense training, full recuperation, adequate amount of sleep, and sufficient calories (your bodyweight in pounds times 20) from a well-balanced diet.

To Golgo on the supplements. Nothing but a waste of money. The best supplement? Protein!
There is no substitute for hardwork.

So any special opinion on creatin and whey protein supps?
mad pierrot
Jul 28, 2004, 22:45
Since you didn't say who you were asking........
Personally I don't like creatine. As far as Whey protien goes, if your not getting your full allowance of daily protein intake, using a protein powder isn't a bad idea.

On Protein.
Those who over-emphasize the importance of protein has some financial interest in the protein supplement industry. Most muscle magazines are registered as "catalogues" and they have to publish article that promote protein in order to sell advertising space for supplements
Think about it. Misinformed people believe that, since muscle is made up completely of protein, the more protein you consume the more muscle mass you gain.
The FACT is, muscle is made up of about 70% water and less than 20% protein. 20%--keep that in mind.
A 12-pound muscle mass gain in one year is an outstanding achievement for anyone. Imagine a chunk of beef that big. 12 lbs. in a year is 1 pound a month. 1 lb. is about 400 grams. Divide 400 by 30 and you have about 13 grams of muscle a day that you're trying to gain, which is mostly water and only about 2 grams of protein!
Then how much extra protein in your diet do you really need to make good gains? 100? 200? 300? Eating a few extra egg whites and a handful of peanuts (in addition to your normal well-balanced diet) will give you all the protein you need.
Those who make good gains by eating a lot of beef is doing so not so much for the protein but for the amount of calories. Beef has about 1000 calories per pound. Muscle mass is living tissue and need calories for maintenance. Bodybuilders who weigh more than 250 lbs. eat more than 5000 calories a day. Take your bodyweight in pounds and multiply by 20 and that's the number of calories you should consume to maintain yuor present bodyweight. If you want to add size you need to eat more--everyday!
You should really read Dorian Yates's book "Blood and Guts" which describes his high-intensity, low-volume, low-frequency training, which I also adhere to. Samuel Wilson Fussell's book "Muscle: Confessions of an Unlikely Bodybuilder" was also inspiring.

pretty interesting. are you a pro Golgo? or do you compete?
No, I do neither. But I've been training with weights for about 26 years.
... and still, so far, no japanese women bodybuilders....
I've been doing weights for a while, I find protein supplements help because I can't always be arsed/remember to eat enough food, plus most of them contain a lot of other nutrients for your body with the protein, which helps if you don't have a totally balanced diet or take vitamins.
If you want protein though make sure it's whey, and not cheaper casein or other crap because it gets absorbed fastest.
Of course, nothing can replace hard work....
One thing I noticed in Japan is that hardly anyone has muscles. 90% of people are skinny as hell, 5% are overweight and the rest obviously go to the gym a lot. I think it's down to the diet, or culture, or just genetics.
