Hello Everybody.
I am 18 and very interested in meditation. I have researched the subject but everything I have come across seems to be very vague. Could somebody please give me some advice and/or point me to a site that can provide me valuable knowledge.
Thank you very much!

I have been meditating for about 15 years now, 50 mins a day and all I can say is, I can't imagine life without out.
First, there are SOOOO many different forms of meditation. If I can add my 2 yen....
Pick a time that you can do it everyday at the same time. Sit in the same spot everytime. Sit legs crossed, hands on knees, eyes closed.
That's it. THAT is meditation.
It is not about attaining perfect focus on any given thought..... not about emptying mind or gaining clarity..... none of that.
It is simply listening to all the thoughts that go on. They are not bad or wrong, they are not great and insightful, they are just thoughts that happen. You meditate to get to know what it is your mind is doing all day. Usually these thoughts go on in the background without us even noticing. Meditation is kind of like putting a spotlight on the mind for a set period of time, and just seeing what is going on up there.
You attention will of course wander off.... "boy, I hope I get laid tonight...." and you forget all about the fact that you are sitting in a room and have your hands on your knees. You "disapear". Keep bringing your attention back to reality. You are in a room. You are sitting there, and you are listening to your mind.
That really is it. So simple!
Eventually, it becomes your point of reference for the rest of your day.

i've been studying buddhism and meditation for a little while. the best thing to do is to start with something simple, like breathing meditation. search for a theravadin guide online, then you're set!
