You shouldn't hide behind a German flag. The drift of your post becomes clearer after having established that you are obviously from Korea (not implying that all Koreans share your views on Japan!).
:souka:
PS: I have updated your country flag in order to reflect your location.

Having just browsed at our friends previous posts, it does appear he/she does have a negative bias towards Japan, that being the case it is quite surprising such a person would frequent a japanese orientated forum.

Perhaps surprising, but unfortunately not infrequent since we have established these fora in 2001.

As for #1: the filthiest toilet I have seen in Tokyo so far was near Tsukiji wholesale market. Still, impeccable and sterile in comparison to most European public toilets, lolol. However, I have to admit I am not well acquainted with Korean public toilets.

Number 2 is probably a "It's there if you look for it" type of thing but they do seem to sell sick stuff that they wouldn't be able to get away with in the UK (TTBOMK). I'm thinking particularly of the 'adult manga' market.

Oh well, this just sounds like the common bashing you can use from people who never been in Japan and thinks they know everything about it :giggle:
Ok some comments due to my experience in Japan and experience of other people there :
1. Looks like we all agree, Japan's public toilets are not the worst in the world ... as Rock said, come and visit Belgium's public parks, we can discuss after.
2. It's not true, it's just that somehow they hide that fact less that other countries (i.e. puritan US).
3. That's bullshit. It's just what all otakus in the world thinks. Of course some girls are like that, but not the majority. If it's like you say that all westerners are fond of asian girls (or are you just jealous :p ).
4. I don't think they are proud of it, it's just that it's still a shame for them. But I think that they didn't have the same after-war as Germany for example ... Their Emperor (Hiro-Hito) stayed on the throne after all ... Whose fault ??
5. Yeah right ... as said in other topics, Tokyo is the most expensive town in the world .. but i can tell you that it's possible to live there without spending too much money. Well of course, if you buy only Armani's clothes in Ginza ...
6. Hmmmm yeah that's right .. Tokyo is VERY dangerous ... Maybe because all the japanese girls jumps on gaijin every footstep they take ?? :sorry:
7. No comment about that ... oh yes one ... don't you think that catholic religion isn't crazy ??? Some believe that a guy came back from the grave and turned water in wine .. wowowowowow.
8. Well, the "loudlyness" is common to asian people i've heard (from an asian girl) so maybe you are one of them :? No offence

smartguy1, frankly, have you ever left Korea ? Do you realise how indoctrinated you have been regarding points 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 (because there is really not much difference with Korea, and I have been there and have Korean friends) and especially about point 4, as many younger Japanese are ashamed and blush or look down everytime I have to remind them about WWII (especially if they didn't think I knew some distturbing facts they don't learn at school, but know anyway).
As for the last point (5), you should look at Seoul and compare salaries and the cost of life there to that of Tokyo. At less than half the salary, houses/apartments are almost as expensive in Seoul (sometime more) than in Tokyo !
Ewok85
Aug 20, 2004, 00:22
Cost of things vs. average wages is the only way to determine living costs. Things here are cheap but wages are low, but friends in the Uk say things are more expensive there but they have better wages. It all balances.

As a fellow Korean, I am ashamed that you would say such things in public as it paints all Koreans as ignorant buffoons. If you really want to put Koreans in a more positive light, please refrain from making such comments.
1. I don't know about this. I have never been to Japan. But I will tell you that Canadian public washrooms (in parks, etc.) are not germless areas also.
2. Perhaps I will not understand some of the fetishes that some Japanese people have over there (like men buying used girl's underwear), but you'll find all sorts of crazy stuff around the world.
3. Okay, this is way too much of a stretch. Perhaps a more accurate statement would be that some Japanese girls like whites and some Japanese people are only nice to white people. (If Japanese girls only wanted white guys why are we still seeing intra-racial marriages in Japan? Why aren't Japanese girls flocking into North America and Europe to find that eligible bachelor. Your generalization is just plain stupid.)
4. Uhh...no. I have a Japanese friend who likes to avoid talking about what happened in World War II. Btw, did you know that just after Korea was liberated by the Allies that the South Korean government massacred it's own people in Cheju Island? Did you know about that? Why do we always complain about Japan but hardly ever talk about our own misdeeds?
5. Okay. If that is so, go stay wherever you are.
6. So are places like Seoul, Bangkok, New York, Los Angeles, London, Sydney, Paris, etc. What's your point brother?
7. You'll find crazy cults around the world. You know, like Reverend Moon's cult.
8. So do Koreans, Chinese, and most Europeans. The only "quiet" people tend to be English speaking groups (i.e., Americans, Canadians, Australians, etc.). I also don't know how speaking loudly has to do with a lack of courtesy. It's mainly cultural. Have you ever been to a Korean restaurant and been around those fobs? Boy, you can hear their conversations even if you're like three booths away. Does that mean they just don't care about others? You tell me.
You know, perhaps you should change your nick to "ignorantguy1" cause you obviously don't have a clue to what you're talking about. If you have anything positive to contribute to this forum then share those. If not, go form your own forum on how "screwed up" Japan is.

ummm have you ever been around Hispanic people??
@6
When I went to El Salvador, I was scared for my life when I got on a bus. There are killings everyday there. You get robbed on the bus and the police wont or can't do anything about it. The bus seats are stained with people's blood. Danger is everywhere. Here in Canada, there are places where women get raped, assulted and murdered. (men as well)
Try to understand that some of the thing you have said can be misunderstood by different people and may cause some misunderstandings.

@1 - Come visit Las Vegas, go into a Terribles gas station and see if you want to have a poop - let alone even risk touching anything to wash your hands.
@2 - Have you been to Germany? To the Japanese end of it, I will say that Bukkake is a little much.
@3 - Strangely enough, I saw Japanese girls and people in general nice to everyone during the entire time I was there. As to whether they meant it, that is another story.
@4 - I don't think that is a valid statement at all, none of my Japanese friends, nor my fiance are proud of WWII at all. I think that it is actually a bit if brainwashing going on inside of your own country that may be making you think that. I will admit that Japan still has not apologised for any of the atrocities they commited during WWII, but that is the government, not the average person.
@5 - It really does depend on where you go. If you went to Tokyo, then yes, I would have to agree with you there. However, if you went to Fukuoka, then it is not too expensive at all.
@6 - Anytime you enter a major city, you are bound to have dangerous parts, I don't think Japanese cities need be singled out. I bet you that I can go to Seoul and get my ass handed to me if someone was really itching for a fight. Same goes for Vegas, NYC or LA.
@7 - You wanna hear crazy? It's caled organised religion.
@8 - Were ya in a Karaoke bar at happy hour? Or have you been basing your opinion of Japanese people through anime? Not only are they not loud people, anytime I was near any of them, they were quiet as hell in public.
Now, what you should have done was labeled some of the finer points of Japan.
Here, I'll do it for you.
1 - Godzilla. No matter how you slice it, you can't beat a grown man in a rubber suit doing a victory dance over a destroyed super size model of Tokyo.
2 - Japanese women. They are hot. 'Nuff said.
3 - Japanese beer.
4 - Nissan Skylines - It doesn't matter which. They're all top.
5 - Katsu Curry.
6 - Cigarette vending machines every 4 feet with cheaper American cigs than in America.
7 - B'z.
8 - That girl in Narita airport that wanted to touch my hair.
9 - Sonny Chiba.
10 - The inspiration for Kill Bill.
11 - my fiance.
12 - Arcades in EVERY building.
13 - Polite people.
14 - Toilets that confuse you.
15 - automatic hand dryers everywhere.
16 - Road construction workers in Tokyo look like the dozers in Fraggle Rock.
17 - Many wonderful places to see historical type stuff.
The list could go on, but I have to go to work :(

Visited Japan? You did, indeed!!

that's a lie.
>2) Japan is sexually too corrupted.
may be, but may not be. i sort of agree with you in some sense...
>3) Japanese girls love ONLY white people, and they are nice to ONLY white ppl
how can u say something like that!! it's a complete crap.
NEVER generalise a thing without knowing it well.
u know what? one of my japanese friends likes black people
(i think it's because she likes Hiphop music)
as well as the white and yellow people.
what a pity!! u must've met only the discriminative girls in Japan.
>4) All Japaneses are rpoud of WWII. May be they are brainwashed by their education, but ppl are so simple-minded that they believe everything they are taught at school.
MY GOD!!! i can clearly see that u've never been to JAPAN!
That's just the opposite.
They are not proud of WWII nor they are not brainwashed either.
besides, so many Japanese students have doubts about their education at school and each one of them have their OWN opinions about the wars and other things.
japan is now getting better in the sense of their ways of thinking.
before, japan was stereotype kind. Now, it's not like that any more.
>5) Living expenses are too high
that's kind of true.
probably not for Japanese people who earn money there.
must be a serious problem for tourists, though.
but still, it depends on what u're comparing it to.
>6) tokyo Yokohama are too dangerous places
i'll rather shut my mouth here since i've never been to Yokohama.
>7) There are so many crazy things in Japan ushc as cults
(ushc=such?)
i have absolutely no idea for this one.
could be true... could be...
>8) Many Japanese ppl talk too loudly, and they don't care about others.
True. even Koreans talk loudly (just for u to know).
i have 3 Korean friends and they are all nice.
if i were to choose one bad point of them,
then i would say that they talk in such a loud voice...
i'm not saying that YOU are talking loudly,
but it's the same things as you say "Japanese ppl are too noisy".
i feel it when i see japanese tourists talking in a restaurant.
they just kept laughing... o, was it noisy...
But most of them are not like this, i believe. (i hope.)
PLEASE DO go to japan and see what it's like.

I wish Japan would require all motorists to carry loaded handguns. Driving manners would take a sharp upswing.
@1 - Come visit Las Vegas, go into a Terribles gas station and see if you want to have a poop - let alone even risk touching anything to wash your hands.
I remember going into a T/A truck stop in Florida, back when I drove trucks in America, and finding the toilet in such a horrible state that I wouldn't even use the urinal. I went back outside and pissed in the parking lot. I'm sure we've all seen crappers so nasty we wouldn't sit/squat to do our business there, but that was the one and only time I've ever seen something that was too nasty to even piss in.
While on the subject of truck stop toilets, let me put in a good word and a bit of advice for anyone motoring across America. You can always count on finding spotless facilities at any Flying-J truck stop. Toilets and showers both. And you don't have to be a truck driver to make use of either. They're fine places for any motorist, and you can stop there with complete confidence in a pleasant experience.

Exactly!!!!!!!!!! that's what i forgot to mention....
I also noticed Japanese are very nice/welcoming to "white" ppl...
Also noticed the Japanese girls often want to talk to the "white" ppl, lol.
There were many guys/girls that wanted to be my friend. And there was many girls that wanted to go out with me, lol. Also one of them wanted to have casual sex with me whenever I wanted even though she had boyfriend... very strange, lol.
sorry.. not trying to brag or nothin.
I met this old man who just started to talk to me outta no where. He was in WW2 and just kept talking to me about how he lost many friends in the war... he was smiling the whole time. I was thinking "Is he not bitter about it?"
Many ppl i met there felt war is bad.
Yes, Fukuoka is great!.. even though it's only part of Japan I've been, lol.
Maybe soo many ppl talk to me and girls want to be my girlfriend because they don't get much foriegners.. or so I heard.

My list of unpleasant things about Japan....
1) While using Japan's "filthy" toilets, my legs cramped up and I had to keep from falling backwards with my pants around my ankles.
2) Hostess bars are too expensive and there's no nudity.
3) Not nearly enough Japanese girls threw themselves at my feet.
4) Japanese people constantly brag about how they lost WWII.
5) Since I made so much more money while I was in Japan, now that I'm home, I feel poor.
6) While walking the streets of Tokyo/Yokohama I was deathly afraid of being attacked by groups of school kids or salarymen who are an entire two feet shorter than me, cause, I don't know about you, but Japanese people scare the crap out of me.
7) Japan didn't have nearly enough cults for my taste. I like to have enough options that I can worship satan in the morning and still manage to squeeze in enough time to toss a virgin into a volcano in the afternoon.
8) I wasn't able to eves drop on Japanese conversations because they were being drowned out by the conversations of foreigners.

1) hmm, toilets...
ever seen trainspotting?
now halve that and place it in most unmodernised parts of moscow and other big russian cities. trust me, there is no safe distance from a russian public toilet.
2) key, some of their porn is wierd, but, hey, so is germany's (no arguments here please, i've probably seen more than is safe for a whole mongolian horde)
russian paedophile problem? I think ballkicking is incomparable.
3) no idea... but my time will come...
4) yeah, well sadly everyone has some form of patriotism (idiocy from my point of view). They were an empire. You declare yourself an empire, you're out to conquer, so basically, everyone else get ready. In affect, if you get conquered, you have little to complain about, you were given a warning, your fault for not listening. This isn't in defence of human rights issues, but simply of territory grabbing, of which they grabbed a lot in the short time. They should be proud of this achievement, just like England is proud of the fact it owned a 1/3 or 1/4 of the world.
5) in my opinion, the whole world is too expensive: why should a piece of cloth be worth way up into 4 digit numbers?
Consider this: I was in Ukraine just now. Average earnings 20$ a month, yet when it comes to products: petrol, decent clothes, decent houses, and decent foods are priced not too differently from those in western shops. In that sence, life is seriously expensive for the 170 or so poor countries where incomes are so low food is expensive. heck, russia is the 3rd most expensive country but with an average income 20 times lower than that of Japan.
in my opinion, if we exclude tourists, then japan would be, like, one of the cheaper countries: huge incomes and prices that dont increase too much from harrods.
6) In Japan, there were 380000 reported cases of "major" crimes: includes murder, rape, arson, kidnapping, robbery, thefts.
In New York alone, there were 400000 thefts in 2000. with 200000 more serious crimes and 1000 murders.
Murder is 13 times less likely in Japan than in America, with around 1000 murders in the whole country per year (if anyone has seen bowling for columbine, those statistics are seriously underestimated)
so, overall unless you walk around asking people to duel you, you'll be fine.
But still, if you feel unsafe in the safest country in the world, I advise the ISS where crime is non-existent.
7) the biggest cult is any organised religion (which are, to a large extent, abscent in Japan)
8) people talk loud everywhere, but here i agree, it could be annoying for a while, but then you either realise that sometimes you yourself shout in public and think "damn, and I thought I was special, infact I'm just like everyone else", or you just tune it out.
Genius

1) japan has the filthiest toilets in the world.
I beg to differ on this. You need to come to America and look at some of our public toilets. They are so nasty you think you might catching something just from looking at it. I went to a concert about a year ago and had to piss. All urinals were taken so I went into a stall and found crap on the toilet seat and ground. That was gross.
Brooker
Aug 23, 2004, 11:00
Of course you can expect that at a concert. That's why you're supposed to take a crap before you go. But if you're at a fancy restaurant or something, the toilet is probably going to be quite clean.

In some countries, these things are shameful history, but Japaneses think it is a proudful thing.
I also agree that in Japan, students have no respect to any eldery or any ppl that they don't even know.
USA is far better than Japan.

That is complete BS. I have never met a Japanese person who was proud that Japan invaded its asian neighbors during the war. Americans proud of their country invading Vietnam, Iraq, etc? Yeah, meet them all the time, but never have I met a Japanese who possesed such jingoistic views. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Smartguy1 just seems completely blinded by his hate for the Japanese or he has ran into a few dumb arse Japanese people. Your view are completely ignorant and you put all Japanese in the same category. I have never meet a Japanese who is proud of their war history or boast about their defeat in WW2. I have however meet Japanese who do respect the elderly and show plenty of respect to people who deserve it, even without knowing them. I suggest you get your facts straight before before posting sutff like this.
Yes I noticed lots of respect and kindness in Japan. Even to strangers. Some of the students who also came on the trip got lost in the city and a Japanese person (stranger) drove them back to the dorms, lol.
But I did notice in the university classes... a lot of the girls chatter and E-mail while the teacher is talking. I think it's rude.. but then again, us Americans are always told not to do this 'cause it's rude. Maybe it's ok in their society???
There were a few times I was referred to as hakujin and gaijin... my girl says gaijin is bad version of gokujin (however you spell it). I was kinda mad but I got over it.

It's fairly obvious that many people have their own experiences about Japan and other countries. May the be bad or good, it shouldn't discourage a person's adventurous side to visit any country in this whole world. It's funny how theres people who say "so and so's country is horrible" and theres always someone to contradict that statement. Everyone has THEIR OWN experiences. Also I will re-iterate that it SHOULD NOT discourage anyone from visiting Japan or ANY OTHER Country!
Theres a lot of bad places, they don't just exist in the U.S. / Japan. These places exist EVERYWHERE in this world.
the whole weird fetish / cult thing is absurd. I've read that the Japanese are fairly more open to sex than europeans / americans where sex is a topic that isn't as widely spoken about (ie Paradise T.V.)
and it's suprising that you bring up sexually corrupt. The U.S. is corrupt also, if a male touches a females shoulder accidently, the female can file a lawsuit for thousands of dollars and get some type of compensation from their employer. What about divorce in the U.S. , the ex-wife would get 1/2 of all possesions? I'm not saying its corrupt, I believe that women should be treated as fairly as men and shouldn't be considered inferior to each other. But I believe the sexual harassment thing a bit too harsh. Sorry I offended anyone :?

I've never had the fortune to visit Japan, but I know prejudice when I see it--and smartguy1 is full of it.
I've been letting myself get into arguments on this forum a little too easily, so I won't bother responding in detail--but there is one thing I have to point out:
4) All Japaneses are rpoud of WWII. May be they are brainwashed by their education, but ppl are so simple-minded that they believe everything they are taught at school.
Yeah, well, like I said I've never been to Japan, so I can't really comment on the validity of that statement...
....but I can say that we in the U.S. seem pretty proud of WWII as well, and--last time I checked--we were the only country that nuked two cities full of innocent civillians during that or any other war.
Personally, I think any country that hasn't committed such an atrocity should be damned proud of itself.

DOOD! The thing on japanese girls going ga ga over white guys. ITS SO TRUE! Even if away from Japan. It goes for asian girls in general. Here in San Diego, you will only mostly see an asian chic with a white dood. I'm not racist or anything, but I cant help but see patterns. My asian girlfriends (not dating, just friends) are all into white guys, even if they dont admit it, but its kinda... obvious. My japanese girlie friends are only into white doods, they just dont admit it (well one of them does...). But they will admit they wont date other japanese guys, (but I think, asian guys in general). Its so obvious. Even my female friends totally admit that asian girls are ga ga over white guys. It sucks for the asian guys who like asian girls. Over here... you will never see an asian guy with an asian girl unless the girl is either traditional or part of a racial clique. This is how it is in San Diego.... for reals. I'm not racist or anything, I'm just stating what I see with my eyes when I go out on the town.
of course nothing is 100% and there are always exceptions and yada yada, I speak generally based on my observatons and comments from my friends (who are asian and girls themselves).

Actually, the use of derogatory terms like "commies" is a scare tactic used by people to denounce and ostracise those who don't share their political veiwpoints.
I am not misinformed, nor am I a communist or an anarchist--and what I'm saying is not "nonsense". It is my personal experience as someone who was born, raised, and has lived in the United States of America for his entire life.
America is a terrible place to live--being a New Yorker you should be especially aware of that right now...
...but then again, may of my fellow citezens have entered a remarkable state of denial since Sept. 11th.
I find it ironic that failing to stop a terrorist attack has induced more pride and patriotism than any of our accomplishments--it's kind of sad really.
At any rate I realize that arguing with someone who states his opinion with such passion would be pointless--since we obviously won't agree on the matter, I suggest we not bother aguing it any further as I'm sure we both have more enjoyable ways to spend our time.

I find it ironic that failing to stop a terrorist attack has induced more pride and patriotism than any of our accomplishments--it's kind of sad really.
I really don't think it's the failure to stop the attack that has been the impetus of the rampant patriotism in this country. Rallying around a president during times of sudden conflict, especially during peace time, is a natural response, and even though people complain about how Bush has handled it, his approval ratings were sky-high following the attack. I suppose I can't speak for everyone, but my feelings of patriotism were sparked more by those that died in an attempt to save others in NY, and those who took it upon themselves to stop another plane from reaching its target at the cost of their lives. Ignorance was exacerbated by misleading shots of Middle Easterners celebrating, and this has definitely been a negative part of these past few years, but I don't think pride in your country is a negative thing. Of course, some people take it WAY too far...but that's nothing new to the US, nor will it end with the US.
All I can say is love it or leave it.

"Congress enacted the Patriot Act by overwhelming, bipartisan margins, arming law enforcement with new tools to detect and prevent terrorism: The USA Patriot Act was passed nearly unanimously by the Senate 98-1, and 357–66 in the House, with the support of members from across the political spectrum"
The Patriot Act already led to terrorist arrest and investigation. NOT ONE INNOCENT PERSON WAS WRONGFULLY OR ILLEGALLY CHARGED DUE TO PATRIOT ACT> All the left has "What could be..."
Remember what the left's platform was in 84? Nuclear freeze sound familiar? Thank God the Left was wrong.

Wow, it looks like this discussion has become quite the pissing match, eh?
I had already stated my feelings about the post 9-11 US. I am, and always be, proud to be an American. I was born here, and God willing, I will die here. I love my flag, I thik it is the most beautiful one on this earth. I am proud of the soldiers that live and die so that I may enjoy freedoms not seen in other countries. Regardless of how many people view the patriot act or its effects on some things, remember this, it is hard to catch many fish without some sort of a net. I witnessed the effects of 9-11 first hand, and I will be God-damned if I am going to allow that to happen again. I do agree that it will be a thorn in a few poeple's sides, but there is nothing that can be done about it. It's not like we live in the book 1984, we don't have a hammer and a sickle on our flag or government buildings, so stop making it out like we have such an oppresive government.
I won't get into this any further, because this is a tremendous waste of bandwidth.

7) There are so many crazy things in Japan ushc as cults
8) Many Japanese ppl talk too loudly, and they don't care about others.
You are obviously talking about Korea right now.
Have you ever been Japan? I agree to only 5 in some extend.
The rest indexs are way more resonably fit to Korea than Japan.(if you change the WWII title into Korean ultral nationalism)
Number 3 is not correct neighter in Korea nor Japan.
You must be ashamed what you posted here so you cheated your flaG.
You must have been reading too many anti japanese books.
Loser.
I agree with you.
The funny thing is that Japaneses are very proud of invading Asian countries and even proud of murdering some Americans.
In some countries, these things are shameful history, but Japaneses think it is a proudful thing.
I also agree that in Japan, students have no respect to any eldery or any ppl that they don't even know.
USA is far better than Japan.
I love the US
Coward, you are making America involved in this topic because you have no confidence on your crap posting.
You never been to Japan but just posted based on your reading anti japan book like "일본은 없다"
I cant believe this thread is still going! Its turned into a shameless debate! now about who is right about "there are more Japanese people in new york than sao paulo" really come on its gone right off topic

The reason why ppl move to USA to immigrate is because Japan is not a good for human to live, period.
Even friends from Nepal Pakistan and Banglasdesh was considering to immigrate and work in Japan, they all cancelled their plan and moved to the US.
Why USA is better than Japan?
Because the US is a melting pot and Japan is not.
I guess Japaneses don't even know the meaning of melting pot. LOL

Now that is a stupid thing to say, though your whole purpose in posting here seems to be to just bait people so I shouldn't be surprised. Very few countries are melting pots. Is your home country Korea a melting pot? Could, say, a big Nigerian guy move to Korea, settle down and live life just like any other Korean? I doubt it, so criticizing Japan for this is just idiotic.
The whole melting pot idea isn't all its cracked up to be from an immigrants point of view anyway, as it places the burden on immigrants to abandon their home cultures and assimilate themselves. Has its advantages, but in large part it means that immigrants have to give up their identities when they arrive and adopt an entirely new culture as their own, which isn't easy.

I visited Japan, and I am gooing to write some disadvantages about Japan
1) japan has the filthiest toilets in the world.
2) Japan is sexually too corrupted.
3) Japanese girls love ONLY white people, and they are nice to ONLY white ppl
4) All Japaneses are rpoud of WWII. May be they are brainwashed by their education, but ppl are so simple-minded that they believe everything they are taught at school.
5) Living expenses are too high
6) tokyo Yokohama are too dangerous places
7) There are so many crazy things in Japan ushc as cults
8) Many Japanese ppl talk too loudly, and they don't care about others.
1. Who the hell has clean public toilets?! all public toilets are nasty and disgusting... so you can't blame them for that because im sure where you're from there are nasty public toilets... lol
2. Japan is a free country who is allowed to express sexuality... maybe a little too much for many nations b/c a lot of countries censor a lot of it. If you watch japanese anime, how much sex do you see in it? and how much references to sex do you actually hear? I think you just need 2 realize that Japan is really open with it. (im not trying to sound bitchy here)
3. Japanese gurls like white people yes, because my dad who is white was a star there when he went... they like blonde hair, blue eyed white guys... i don't know why that is... but i think it has to do with the craze of all the American movies that get shipped over there for them to see...
4. regardless to their defeat in WWII, strategically, for example in WWII, they actually took over Pearl Harbor, had expanded their territory from Korea, China and the Phillipines. The US has done some horrendous stuff, and we always learn the GOOD things about them, when in reality its just a bunch of BS. Honestly, every country brainwashes each citizen. Thats why politics is corrupted!
5. Japan is coming out of a recession, therefore, b/c of inflation prices are high... the yen used 2 be 100 yen per dollar which is $1 to $1yen... pretty soon things will get back towards that level... but coming out of a 10-year recession is pretty hard.
6. Yakuza primarily live there, so of course its dangerous. I heard they're everywhere and don't where suits as much anymore, and just try to blend in with the crowd. Once again, every country has one bad place/city. Take for example NYC... how many people are going to try and bomb down buildings here, and living and working in the city is pretty rough especially when you're a primary target for terrorist activity.
7. cults - are everywhere!
8. Japanese people don't care b/c thats how they all are. Theres a lot of people out their that are rude, annoying etc., but a lot of people just deal with it. For example, if your sitting in the movie theater and people just talk thru the whole thing, or your at a concert and your cellphone rings when they ask you politely in the beginning to shut them off. They only care about themselves, and not everyone else. Sometimes thats a better mentality then caring for everyone and not yourself.
I understand where your coming from, I'm just broadening the perspective on your points, and have some counter-arguments to your disadvantages. Don't take it personal, it isn't meant to be that way!
