This morning before I left for work, I noticed that the International Channel was playing Fujisankei News. So I Tivoed it and watched it just a little while ago at lunch.

The first 15 minutes or so were just standard international news, focusing on the US. After that though, things got weird. Bear in mind that I don't yet know enough Japanese to know much of anything that's being said.

They played a segment where a man and a woman (looked like a reporter) went into a mother's house (she had a young child with her). The man looked very disgusted about everything in the house and would occasionally breathe through a mask that he constantly carried with him. At one point he gets down on his back on the floor, spread-eagle. He makes a very disgusted face, takes a pull through his mask and gets up. He heads over to a cabinet and pulls out a small shelf. He sniffs it and REALLY gets disgusted. He looked like he was going to puke. He hands the shelf to the two women and they both make a show of sniffing it and being disgusted.

He also got really disgusted at what I took to be the air conditioner or air vent for the apartment. He pointed to it and breathed through his mask some more.

:?

I have no idea what this was, but I was riveted nevertheless in stunned silence. What the heck is going on? Was he looking for pollutants in the house? The house looked spotless to me. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Well, Fujisankei's news is one hour long. The first half-hour is Japanese news/Asian news, while the next fifteen-20 minutes is American news. The next ten to fifteen minutes is a special time - per se - where reporters do special stories.

Perhaps they were doing one of those "Redecorating Homes" specials where they go and look how dirity homes are and tell people hyow to clean it up..?

Hope I helped. =)
