Hiya!
I have just seen the film I, Robot starring Will Smith.
I must say that I did not expect too much of the film in the beginning, as I am not a big sci-fi fan, however, I have seen many good sci-fi films.
I guess I am very picky...
Anyway, I REALLY LIKED THIS FILM! I liked the story, and also the special effects - Wow!
And the film also had some funny scenes with funny dialogues! I want that kind of (friendly) robot as my friend!!
My boyfriend is a big fan of Asimov's books (I think he has all of Asimov's books) and he also liked this story made into film.

I thought the film was excellent and was surprised when i found about.... [Spoilier] well you know what with him in the tunnel fiighting the robot and all... :D
they have some pics of the movie's opening (in japan) over on msn japan
i haven't seen the movie yet, though
I haven't seen it and don't intend to. I am a big fan of Asimov's works and own a paperback of "I, Robot"...
...I can assure you there were no machine-gun battles with hordes of rioting androids as shown in that film's trailer. The moviemakers just stole the title and used it to sell their cheap action flick. Issac Asimov must be rolling in his grave to have his brilliant philosophical work on the nature of humanity debased in such a way.

meh, don't be such a whiner.
'twas kewl
Will Smith blowing away robots does sound cool, but stealing Azimov's title just to make it sell better is just wrong--and there's very little in this world I that take moral offense to.

Not everyone is a Book Nazi. It was an enjoyable film regardless of how much it is not like the book it has the title of. Now if it was a terrible movie that would be a different story.
Don't be so quick to judge, I'm not a "book nazi" either.
My point is that "I Robot" isn't a movie version of the book--it's a completely different thing...
...but by using the same title they've duped many Asimov fans into shelling out cash for a movie that has nothing to do with Asimov's robot novel--and stealing a title in order to facillitate false advertising is just wrong.
It'd be like me making a movie about the ringmaster of a circus and calling it "Lord of the Rings" :D
