I watched this movie with my kids last night and I couldn't stop laughing! :D The movie itself wasn't all that good, but they kept spoofing the old Bruce Lee movies and the Chinese martial arts movies. Very entertaining for us!

Yeah, I saw it a couple of years ago and it was freakin' hysterical! You're right about the spoofs -- the parody was great, and the special effects were incredible as well. It's a very enjoyable movie, to say the least.

Yap I loved it too, saw it two years ago too and resaw it some months ago, but our french version got cut of the "chinese jokes" (but the jokes were understable :| ). The final match is awesome, it's like the old manga about soccer "Captain Tsubasa" and is really worth the watch :)

By the way, the lead actor is Steven Chow. He has other crazy movies, like "From Beijing with Love" and its sequel "Forbidden City Cop." I think my favorite is "Fight Back to School," though.

I've enjoyed on at least some level every Stephen Chow movie I've ever seen... one of my faves that isn't mentioned here is "God of Cookery", a great Iron Chef/martial arts film combination.

One thing, though... how is "Forbidden City Cop" a sequel to "From Beijing with Love"? I've seen both and didn't notice a connection... "Beijing" is a James Bond parody, while "Cop" is an amazing straight parody of the martial-arts genre. Do you just mean relation by release date?

Either way, those movies are great...

Yes! "God of Cookery!" That's the other one I was trying to remember. What was the one with Trickybrains? Was that the name of the movie, or was that just a character in it? I can't remember...

Well, it's hard for me to say with certainty, but I remember hearing from a huge fan of Steven Chow's that "Forbidden City Cop" is the sequel to "From Beijing with Love." I know they don't seem to be connected, and there is an enormous anachronism between the two, but perhaps that is the joke.

I just saw that movie, I guess it was "just majorly relased" or something *shrugs* well the video place just got it anyways. I though it was very funny. It amuses me so much, I love the part where they are singing and dancing XD

I was actually trying to remember that too, as I saw that one and enjoyed it, but it's been a while since I saw that one... IIRC, I think the title of the movie was "Tricky Brains" as well. There was also one of his movies (I think) I saw long ago with a title something like "The 60 Billion Dollar Man"... while not enjoying it as much as the other titles mentioned here, that one was pretty funny too...

With his sense of humor, I actually wouldn't doubt it... I had never heard that myself, which is why I asked. That would be quite funny if those movies are supposed to be connected...

this movie is really hilarious. i watched it a couple of years ago. i really like Steven Chow's movies, but he doesn't act these years. and all the leading actresses in his movies are quite horrible, i mean the make up. like Vickie Zhao, the one of "Shaolin Soccer"

I'm curious to see which version you had seen? I see, by your indicator flag, you reside in Japan. But did you see a HK, Korean, US or Japanese version? In the US, we got both the US theatrical travesty and the pure, smooth and often hilarious HK cut.

I preferred the HK cut.

Well, the US version that was out in the theaters that is also included along with the HK cut on DVD, had computer added translations on the tattoos, signs and what not. Also, there are scenes that were edited and completely cut from the original film. I turned it off quickly and switched to the HK cut of the film.

At least the US dub was done by Stephen Chow himself.

there's one version where they don't have the song and dance scene where everyone starts "singing" horribly and dancing infront of the bread-girl.

that's a hillarious scene.

That'd probably be the US cut which is also included on the R1 US DVD. It is HORRIBLE, and makes you switch to the HK cut REALLY, REALLY FAST!

That scene was a pisser!
