I've read that many other countries have thier own form of sign language. Do you know any places I may be able to get visuals from. I was wondering if was somewhat similar to american sign language except you use two hands to represent ka and then mi. or something like that. Any sources you have to learn japanese sign language would be greatly appreciated.

Google Knows All (http://www.deaflibrary.org/jsl.html)

I just searched for "Japanese Sign Language" - more links there.

Wikipedia doesn't have a lot about Japanese sign language, but the article does discuss international sign languages: article here. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sign_language)

The post fantt gave me was quite informative. I have now learned a good deal along with saying interpreter as a first word. Unlike many deaf americans. nihonjin mouth the word while showing the hand gestures.
