Well hentai in Japan is just, it’s bodies, I mean they don’t sensor everything like in America, but I’m sure it’s not something they put on TV for children to view. Hentai is absolutely popular in Japan, well as much as it is anywhere else, but they tend to be more laid back about a great deal of things, sexual orientation, nudity ect…I mean consider this in Japan they put nudity in comics and sell them on the stand (for adults of course lol), but it's still on display it's not underground.

Actually the sensoring is done in Japan for Japanese audiences. It's not done by American sensors or intended to be sensored for American audiences. In Japanese hentai movies the "sensitive areas" are usually blurred out. Not that I really know about these things. :blush:

They are laid back about some things and not about others. For example, they've pretty much convinced themselves that homosexuality doesn't exist in Japan. But that's because the social pressures are so strong in Japan that few people would want to be openly gay.

I've heard some Japanese people say that Japanese people are rarely gay. I believe that the percentage of gay people will be the same no matter where you go, it's just that it's unaccepted and hidden in Japan.

I wouldn't consider yaoi, yuri, shounen-ai, shoujo-ai, or any of that kind of stuff hentai, since most of the time it's just cuddling or kissing, and "hentai" translates to "pervert", implying some sort of sexual act. There are the occasional nudie pics, though. ^.^

They're generally much better made - of what I've seen, at least. Hardly saw any "real" porn movies, there's simply no need for it when you can have good hentai :D :D :D

this is very true. the deffinitive "law" in japan, is that genatalia are not to be seen in print or on the screen. this is the case when you see a hentei manga or anime, all genatalia are censored. i think this law has been twisted around several times. and may have been revised, at least that was the law a few years back. we used to run a tape-trading club in dallas tx. and my buddy hiroki would send us stuff from japan a month or so after it was released, and absolutely, the censorship came from japan, not from america.

im not interested in hentei, would rather have the real thing, but in its defense, i have watched some very compelling hentei as far as plot, and some that was absolutely beautifully animated, (from a directors standpoint), and not so grotesque. most of it is just plain silly though.
