Var bor du nånstans?

And for all of you who doesn't speak Swedish, I was just asking him where he lives.

I really don't know any where I live. I know there are more in North Jersey but not here. ~sigh~ I wish I saw some more. It would kinda make me feel like I was in Japan in a little bit... ^^

I know a lot. I can't even estimate. Since my husband is Japanese and works for a Japanese company, I come into contact with many Japanese people. His co-workers, of course, people who visit the company from Japan, people we meet at various Japanese 'mixers', his secretary through whom I've met many Japanese women married to American men...etc. etc.

It's very surprising that in a small rural town in the southeastern U.S., I'd find all kinds of Japanese people! :p

I've went to school with people from Sri Lanka, China and Thailand but no Japanese. There aren't many Jap people in Sweden (except exchange students here for a brief period of time)

Heh. yeah, and if you're gonna put in a little Swedish lesson you'd want to do it correctly. "Nånstans" ^_^

Jap people

OOF! "Jap" is considered a derogatory term for the japanese...

if you want to abreviate "japanese", use "Jp", less people are insulted that way.

lol well where I live is the whitest part of Australia. We are talking only a few hundred asian families. but if you drive 20 mins into the city there are so many because Australia is a very multicultural society.

Okay japanese people I know, 5.

University of Hawaii has a lot of Japanese students (well, Hawaii in general has a lot of local and native Japanese people :D), though I've talked to many of them, I only know a few a bit more closely. A lot of them are exchange/abroad students.

How many people do I know ?
Well, if it's only people I have met and talked to, then maybe 500 or 1000 (?)
If you mean people I know well enough to remember their name, what they do or where they live, then about 150 to 200, I guess. My mobile phone has already over 100 people registered and it has been erased once when I lost it.

I know a LOT of Japanese people, also "mixed" Japanese...both in Denmark, US and...Japan of course.

I have both friends and family who are Japanese or mixed Japanese..
I guess I have 100-200 acquaintances, and about 50-100 friends and family members. Friends are from my time in Japan, and some from university, where some Japanese stayed at the same dormitory.
Also, my boyfriend, who is Danish-German, knows a lot of Japanese people because of his line of work, as he is in an industry where Japanese lobbyism is common, so he knows a lot of Japanese people, both business partners, and friends...e.g.:
Mayor of Tokyo, cousin to the imperial palace, government officials, professors etc..to name a few.

So, together, we have a big Japanese ring of friends, family, business partners, acquaintances....:D

Do you ever miss hanging out with "foreign" people? ^^

Actually.......no.

And that short answer needs clarification, so I will go ahead and give it.

There aren't that many other English-speaking foreigners in my area to begin with. And I have practically nothing in common with them, other than the fact that we speak English, so there is nothing to base a relation on.

It is my boyfriend who knows the Mayor and the other "influentials" listed in my previous post, and he has met him several times because of the keywords: LOBBYISM, money-making for his company. He works in a company which employs lobbying a lot in Japan.

I have met him too...for a meal. :-)

How many Japanese people do I know? :?

I have about 75 employees that work for me that are Japanese. So I am quite well aquainted with them. I also have frequent contact with another 50 or so because of work. As far as friends, I have around 25 close friends that are Japanese and another 75-100 aquaintences. By that I mean that I have met them at least once and remain in contact in some form or another.

I guess I personally know about 7 or 8. There is my girlfriend (from Osaka) who lives with me, my two male friends here in LA, my friend in Tokyo, and all the teachers at my school OSULA. There are a LOT less Japanese people in LA than eight to ten years ago, but between Torrance, little Tokyo, and Sawtelle we still manage.

Btw, if anyone wants to know of a great Japanese school in LA, go to www.osula.com ... the teachers are all from Japan and they move you pretty fast :)

Yes, I was wondering too. Just knowing 500 people, especially from a country that is not yours, is quite impressive.

Seeing as how I am in Japan right now, everybody is Japanese so my count goes pretty high.

At home in Vancouver I see tons of people from various cultures all the time, and I am sure quite a few of them are Japanese. But I only really know 10 or so Japanese people well enough to count.

Well, there weren't many Asians in Texas and the only Asians here in Georgia are all Korean XD

Let's see. Daisuke is one of my best friends. He lived somewhere near Kyoto for quite some time, thenmoved here for 1 year, where he learned hardly any English XD, then moved to Tokyo. I know some sushi chefs at Miyabi(Yoshi, Oda, Keita). I've been penpals with a girl in Japan for some time now(Megumi) and her wonderful sister Asuka.

So, total, I know about 10-15. Oh well, once I actually move to Japan(should be after this school year) I'll know quite alot and try to report back here

Here in LA (the state, not Los Angeles), Japanese people are almost nonexistent. Our Asian population is mainly Vietnamese, Chinese, and Korean. I only know one Japanese person that I met through online. (He doesn't live here.)
