A Big Honor For The Big G!

You'll never guess who's gonna get his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in late November----GODZILLA!!!!

That's right, folks! According to an item I read in the entertainment section of my local newspaper, The Big G will be immortalized on November 29th, the date of the Japanese premeire of "Godzilla: Final Wars", said to be the last movie in the ver-r-r-r-r-ry long running series!

Who'd a thunk that an overgrown green lizard would become so popular to gain such an honor here in the States? I don't know about you, folks, but I think that's a hoot and a half!

So a guy in a rubber suit is going to show up for the ceremony. :D :D It would be better if Godzilla came for the ceremony with the size he is supposed to have; ie. as tall as a building...haha... :D :D What big footprints he can leave on the pavement! :D :D

What woulda been really cool was to have a live action short film of the Big G trashing L.A. on his way to Hollywood to receive his honor! He coulda used the La Brea tar pits as cement to put his footprint in! HA! Sometimes, I'm so clever I scare myself!

I had a small role in the events of Godzilla's induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I arranged for and wrote the text for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors' proclamation of Godzilla Month and wrote the history of Godzilla for Johnny Grant, the Honorary Mayor of Hollywood.

The suit that appeared at the ceremony was a specially-made event suit that Toho makes for such appearances. It is rubber and was rigged up to shoot out vapor from its mouth. Tsutomu Kitagawa, the Godzilla suit actor who has played Godzilla in most of the Godzilla films since 1999, was inside the event suit for the ceremony.

You'd have to see the suit up close to really appreciate it.

The item that Mr. Tomiyama is holding (the shot is a little dark due to the sun angle) under his left arm is a scroll declaring 50th Anniversary of Godzilla Month by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. I wrote the text and arranged to get it. A photo of the scroll is below.
