Hi All,

Im planning my trip to Japan next July-Aug 2005 since Ill be finished university...I dont want to go the english teacher route since I only want to stay for no more than 2 months.

I have enough money for plane tickets, food, train pass and some spending money, but Id like to avoid the hassles of renting an apartment (getting someone to co-sign and paying heavy rent is unapealing since I dont speak the language )

Anyways Id like to know if there are places that would billet me for the 8 weeks. I have no criminal record and could provide references (professionals) for my character and all that...Im not looking at a hostal specifically since I wont be backpacking...any information would be a huge help since nobody local can provide any info...

Thanks

Jason

Sakura House

Read the Metropolis, Tokyo Notice Board, Japan Today, and Japan-Zine. They will give you listings of places to stay as well.

A google search will turn them up for ya

You may also wish to look into the type of apartment known as a "weekly mansion". They have the basic furnishings included (small fridge, microwave, etc) and can be rented with far less hassle than a normal apartment lease. Despite the name, you can arrange rentals by the week, month, whatever.

Here's a link to a place that has information in English:

Please note that I only googled up the link for you. I have no personal experience with the place and can not go so far as to personally recommend that particular place. Caveat emptor, as they say.

youth hostels are meant to be pretty clean in japan and cheap too! also check out

as they will definitely know good, cheap places to stay. I think some ryokans hav very good prices as well, like $68 AUD a night (so alot cheaper for you)
