:souka: I was reading this thing on a site, and it said that hide was dead, like he died a while ago, but I never knew. hide is Matsumoto Hideto if you don't know (how could you not?) But is it true? Is he really dead? :(

How could you know who he is and not know he's dead? Any place that mentions him also says that he's dead, and has been for the past 6 1/2 years.

Apparently he came home drunk and tried to play a joke on his roommates. He pretended to hang himself (with a towel on a doorknob), as to scare them. Well, the alcohol must have impaired his judgement, as it turned out that the joke was on him...

Well, that's because all news reports about that were in Japanese, which makes the gossipmill work overtime among the non-Japanese fans of hide.

As far as i can remember, i got my version off a site, which had translated a newspaper item that appeared right after the event. It also mentioned that it was hide's brother that dropped him off at home that night and he lived with two female roommates.

I know for a fact that hide was actually bald, so he could have been in a chemo-treatment. I just think that would be something that's hard to hide for your fans. Considering he recorded two albums (Ja! Zoo and the Zilch album) prior to his death, speaks against such a treatment. You wouldn't really have the energy to do so, i reccon.

Um I have heard the same...the only story about Hide's death I kno is that when Hide got drunk he was known to do crazy things. Apparently hide came home drunk that day. He was found hung from his door way by his girlfriend and died on the way to the hospital....They were never really able to confirm if it was suicide of if some one had tried to kill him...

The truely sad part of the whole story is that Yoshiki and Hide were planning to bring back X with a new vocalist(Toshi joined that cult that said he couldn't sing X's music...) around the year 2000. To have to think that if Hide hadnt died the great force of X could still exist.... :(

Cancer?? wasn't he drunk and commited suicide?? I never heard that he had cancer. I know he hepled a girl with cancer, gave her his bone marrow (dunno how you spell that, you know what I mean).

Some say that Pink Spider was his suicide note, It's hard to tell, there are many questions about his death. But I think that if he had cancer, Yoshiki would have said soemthign about it on the funeral, something like "not many know this, but hide was sick, he had cancer... maybe he didn't want to suffer anymore and went down like the legendary man he is..." if anyone wouyld know about hide being sick it would be Yoshiki.

Bald? I didn't see any of that, and if he had a bald spot I think it's more bcuz of the many bleachings he did for the pink colour.

I don't know what to believe, a part of me believes in the pink spider theorie, and I have another one... hide has a song named 'Space monkey....' space monkey is another name for a game where you strangle yourself or somebody until they faint. when they wake up they feel a high and calm, almost like a drug. It is a popular game amongs youth in the US and some have actually died of it. there was this 13 year old boy who tied a rope around his neck and then died of it. It isn't impossible that hide might have been doing the same thing but was drunk and it went very wrong. It might sound a bit weird but it's not impossible.
hide is known for weird lyrics that say one thing and mean another, so you have to read between the lines. But that is just my thought.

What does it matter? He died a terrible and tragic death no matter what actually happened. And is it really any of our business anyway?
It's sad enough that he died but must you keep spreading ridiculous rumors about him even in death? Unless you know for sure how he died (and I don't believe anyone but Hide-san himself could know that) then you shouldn't say anything at all about it. I don't even think most people in Japan know what happened exactly.
I find it somewhat disrespectful that you would spread mere hearsay about Hide-san's death, it's awful enough that he died don't make it worse by gossiping about it as though it's a casual thing one can discuss at dinner.

I'm not sure how Hide died I only know that he has passed, but of all I know of him there hasn't been one website about him that didn't say how much he loved life. And because of that I don't think he commited suicide. I will not say anything more about it, but going around and telling people that he did when no one is sure is wrong. We don't know if maybe he had been having problems with someone and that had something to do witht he events leading to his death or if he had cancer or not. Let's just not talk about that anymore because many fans were deeply hurt when they found out about his death, so let's not bring it back up for their sake.

I have never heard of hide having cancer. The more i read the more upset i get. I dont know why hide means so much to me, but ANY rumours such as his apparent previous marriage, his suicide or cancer or whatever... nothing is known for certain. Why spread things you dont know are true? Even is some ARE true thats HIS business not the fans. I have been so close to crying reading this thread... i have got to the point where he means so much that no matter what i read that wont change and if anything he means more in that i wish i could protect his name from such gossip...

But who does anything matter now he's dead... the world may as well stop spinning as far as i'm concerned... i really have lost all will since discovering hide...

Cant we just remember his life, seeing as his death is a mystery.

It is a real shame that he died, as he was a very talented soul whos music will live on in others I expect.
