Hey guys, someone mentioned this idea to me... Making a worksheet with Excel or something. Like a test we used to take in math. Like a timed test. Having all the letters of Hiragana and Katakana on it. Like listing:A (then a blank), I (then a blank), etc. Maybe if I send someone a GMail invite. Or, I pay them back somehow besides money lol. Can someone do this for me since I don't know how? I will try to pay back somehow, or if you could do it out of the goodness of your heart? All I am asking for is like all the letters on there, with some different tests. Listing: A-O,KA-KO,SA-SO,etc. to KYO-KYU and all those also. Also those like B's and P's. Please help someone. PM it to me or email it to me. Thanks!

I suggest you have a good look round for downloadable / free kana tests first.

Have you tried this: http://www.davidhallgren.se/nihon/kanaPractice.asp?Hiragana=true, it might be of some use to you.

There are a few things you should consider.
1st You need to say what version of Excel you use.
2nd There's little point of a timed test of _every_ letter in the chart, if you're including _all_ the possible mora it's going to take a long time to finish and be very repetative. Probably it would be best to have a semi-random selection each time you run it.
3rd You're not very clear on what you want it to do. Is this going to be interactive? Multi-choice? Typed answers? romaji -> kana only or both ways?

Yes, David, I have tried it. is it your site? I love that site! I guess I won't worry about it PaulTB. I will try to make one my self. I have a friend who is very good with Excel, and he is learning Japanese with me. But, If any one runs across printable study sheets, please tell me. You can PM me or EMail me. I can never seem to find printable stuff.

i seem to recall back when i was a youngin i had hiragana flash cards. why not make them? sure they were already preprinted in my case, but i had to cut them out...

seriously, flash cards. find a hiragana chart on the net, copy each character (good practice!), and remember to write the reading on the back. (i did this for the kanji of all the japanese prefectures, so it is possible!)
