I thought this was pretty good.
The Alamo was very authentic, and the sets were great. Much
better accuracy than other movies.
Facts gotten right;
-> Santa Anna attacked in the dark
-> Alamo was more authentic
-> Rifles, and weapons matched the time
-> Not everybody died at the Alamo, some were captured
(historians fight over this)
-> Santa Anna was a peacock leader, and actually
spent a vast fortune of Mexico's money on his army.
-> Gave you that feeling of hard-scrabble settlers, fortune-seekers,
a few vagabonds, spanish-sympathetic, and ruffians made up Texas
Independence
-> Gave Mexico version of why they fought the settlers.
Negatives
->New age attitude about westerns, all white men
show guilt over atrocities against Indians
->Could tell Hollywood made movie. Just it
showed up.
