Help find my favourite old japan cartoon!!

Hi everyone!!!

I'm trying to find a japan cartoon series, that I watched in 1997-99. I dont even know the name! .

But its all about a boy, which discovers a Robot and controls it from the inside. (he puts his hands into a globe to control it with his mind). It's the best cartoon I ever watched, and really want to watch it again, but I just can't remember the name!!!!

Can anyone give me any suggestions on what this cartoon series could be?

The only series I can come up with is 'Neon Genesis Evangelion'. It did appear around '97 (or was it '96 :? )..and although Shinji didn't control his eva with a globe or anything...oing. I'll try to find more series' that could fit the criteria better :relief:


EDIT: AH! I just had that moment where in cartoons, a lightbulb appears when a character figures something out!

It HAS to be...THE VISION OF ESCAFLOWNE! Is this what it looked like?

OMG it HAS to be it! Escaflowne came out in '97 AND the main character, Van, controls the Escaflowne...err, well, not with a globe thingy. That globe thingy was actually needed so he could activate it :?

ahhh I hope it's Escaflowne! It's the only anime that fits your criteria somewhat ^^;;

It doesnt look like THE VISION OF ESCAFLOWNE. As the robot had a hole in the middle of it's chest for the boy to enter into.

ERMMM.........I remember that after a while in the series, the robot starts to control itself and befriends with the boy. Then they have a journey where they meet alot of friends, and encounter other robots.

:sorry: AHHHH!!! I know this is not very specific information, but I really want to watch it.

Is it possible to list all the cartoon series, that you think might be the cartoon. Than I will research on each of those, and hopefully find it in the end.

For a sec, I thought it was 'Full Metal Alchemist', but that isn't mecha and it was released in 2003 <.< URG....And I don't think it's any of the Gundams or Macross series' :?

I'll try to help you out once I do some searching..sorry again :(

Well, this is a long shot... but could it be "Brain Powerd"? That show was airing in 1998 in Japan... and I know the robots were controlled mentally in that, and the pilots entered the 'bots through a hole in the chest. AND the robots had their own intelligence too, so the pilots and 'bots would have to "make friends" in order to be the most powerful...

Here's another question if Brain Powerd isn't the answer... you were watching the show in 1997-1999. Was the show necessarily new at that time? Could it have been a rerun of an older robot anime?

No sorry, I haven't watched this anime, in such a long time. All I can remember, is that there a little boy, and all of a sudden he discovered a robot. The robot had a hole in it's chest for anyone, and there was a globe inside it. The boy controlled it from the inside, and went on a journey and encountered many other robots.

I dont think it was Brain Powerd because it was a child's kind of cartoon, and Brain Powerd contains Bloody Violence, and nudity.

I've started to watch The Vision Of Escaflowne and its kinda good, but I'm still continuing the search for my favourite cartoon !!! :-)

Been over a year now, still want to find my favourite anime.

Sorry i left it, had college work, and university application stuff, to do, which made me forget about this thread! (Even forgot my old user and pass!)

Newest info: I think the kids name was "武藏" and it was aired on a chinese television channel, watched it when i was 10 years old, so its not going to be the adulty anime, with all the blood and gore.

Will research more. Any help?

the boy is called sanchiro and the robot is called mojaro .. check it and tell me if i am right or no ^_^

nah its not my fav anime, thanks for searching though. It was in cantonese when it wsas broadcasted on chinese channel.

the robot is quite big, similar to the robot in THE VISION OF ESCAFLOWNE, and somewhere in the end, the kid finds out that the robot is part of an army of the same models.
