View Full Version : Howl No Ugoku Shiro! (How's moving castle)
Just curious, who has seen "Howl's moving castle"?
It seems so cool and since I love movies created by Ghibli ( Miyazaki Hayao team) I'm so inclined to watch it, however my situation doesn't allow me to.
Tell me what you think about it, if you have seen it, thanks.
For those who don't know about it, check it out on the web

I have seen it last Sunday. The story is set in what looks like Southern Germany (or Austria or Switzerland) about 100 years ago. The town atmosphere resembles that of Majo no Takyuubin or Kurenai buta.
There is a lot of magic involved, like in Sen to Chihiro or Princess Mononoke, but with the typical machines of Miyzaki like in Laputa or Nausicaa.
As usual with Miyazaki, the main character is a girl, although an evil spell turn her into an old woman. The strange thing is that she sometimes becomes young again, the old again, and at the end she is young with grey hair, and there is (apparently) no explanation about it in the movie. The story is a bit confusing because of the various dimensions and the dream-like evolution of the story (very chaotic, and the more time passes and the less realistic or logical it becomes).
Overall it was good, but not my favorite Miyazaki.
Okay, what your are saying is almost same as what my friends said; the story seems a bit confusing and there are many Miyazaki-movie aspects in this movie, for example, as you said typical machines, atmostphere of the town in Majo no Takkyubin, etc, but my friends didn't really look excited, they said the movie was good though.
I'll see myself some day, not soon,,,, it's a pity,,,
sounds interesting, nonetheless...
I think the one miyazaki movie I never got into was Kurenai buta Porco Rosso....just couldn't get into that one...
