Hum...I'd reply:
1: learn how to draw
2:learn how to draw speed lines and other special effect as well as how to divide a page
3: learn how to use tones
4: learn how to put colors
You can start creating your own manga after that (I think 1-2 years of intensive training should be enough unless you're very skilled)
As for animes well...
1: learn to write a scenario
2: learn to draw
3: learn to use special softwares like maya, 3dsmax, photoshop and so
4: learn how to make sounds and special effects as well as to write musics and play them
5:hire seiyuus to dub your anime
You should be able to create your own anime in 10 years, and I hope you'll be able to draw/put colors quickly (20-24 images for 1 second of anime) :-)

ditto. there's other software to pump out an episode within a week...good luck getting your hands on it.
i'd suggest starting out by just sketching random characters, just practice. think of a story, mold character designs to those in your story. practice drawing boxes and sizing dialog bubbles. i drew a manga for fun like 5-7 years ago, that's how I did it. just have fun drawing stuff

Flash is simple for anime.
How to make anime??
Alright here we go for my advice..
I'm about moving up in the world with art.
I hate photoshop(because it makes things easy) but it rules.. Go get the program.
Then.. go get a tablet.. if you don't know what a tablet is, it's a little thing you use a plastic like pen to draw on.. It transfers the strokes or other motions you make on it to the program you are using.
Another thing you could do, if you are lazy/cheap, is draw something out.. Scan it onto your computer with a scanner. Put it on a program like Macromedia Flash, and then... Lock it into the scene.. then with another layer draw over it with digital lines. This way you have made a digital copy of your art. Plus the more you do that method, the better you get at making your characters flexible.
Those are just some ideas..
create it ??make it ?? Unless you are god ..

No. You humans transform it.
Light into mass. Mass into light.
For each action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

I cant buy programs,or get trails,or to much megabytes, I only can get free programs, low megabytes,
Learn how to draw and colour, watch a lot of anime and read a lot of manga. Then buy a tablet for your pc and get a software (Photoshop or Painter, for example) and off you go! It might get a few years to get to the sofware and tablet part, though ^-^; Depends on how good you are :) There's a lot of info about anime and manga and how to make them on the internet, so just search with Google and you should be able to find soemthing ^-^ I don't know how much tablets cost in the Staes but I got mine for about 40 euros. It's not Intuos level but I can live with it ;)
There's a free program called openCanvas you can use, too. (well, I don't know if it's free anymore but they had a free version when I downloaded it ages ago. It's a Japanese software) I can tell you one thing, though: if you want to work with computer graphics, you'd better make sure you have a relatively good pc that can handle the program(s) and the files... High quality takes space.
UUOOHH, so professional everyone... I draw my mangas completely by hand! All the backgrounds and everything... It takes me a lot of time... but well, I don't have any good program to do it by computer or anything... the most I do is scan them and try to make the quality better with photoshop or acdsee... and I get both program because my sister use them so we can see all the photos we have in he computer :p ... I should try to find some other ways so I can improve my mangas and make them better, ne?? :relief:
Oh, and about how to make manga, I agree: a) learn how to draw; b) learn how to write a good story; c)learn to write scripts; d) I don't know, don't ask me :p jeje
Chauu...^.~

your best bet is to start writting if you want to create manga. i am a manga artist, and ive found that if you want to create a manga, but havnt written anything, your screwed.
you'll draw 2-3 pages and get stuck. so b4 you do anything, be sure you have a good, solid story laid out so you can create your visuals in a seamless, continuity.
then theres the illustrating. it has taken me the better part of 15 years to become a professional, so definitly your skills as an illustrator will need to be very good if you hope to get published.
as for anime, there are many different software applications and techniques used by todays artists. ctp pro is an excellent 2d animator, but there are others as well....and then your in the world of film, very different from pen/pencil. you have key framing, variable frame rates from 18-30 frames/sec, and 60 fields/sec. balancing these frames between action sequences and non-action sequences can be really tough to pull off smoothly, and last but not least, be prepared for an intense amount of frustration and work:)

To make manga, you draw. To make anime, you draw... a LOT.
As simple as that.
For story on the other hand, that's a different thing.
Now... To make a published manga and anime that were distributed by big companies, that's a totally different thing. But suffice to say that these things weren't done by the people that you saw their names in the credits, and it ain't their teams either. They just surrendered their artworks to their superiors or the employer employed them, and afterward it will be rebuild into something else. The result might look similiar (almost to the point of not being changed), but it's a remake.
Though I'm sure that you just want to make something in your spare time.
Here's my advice.
Just draw a nice four frames comic strip. The story is short and the drawing time is minimum, just the thing to do in a spare time.
If you kept drawing it, there will be a LOT of strips.
Then it's up to you if you want to animate it (by drawing more pictures in between frames) or just kept making more strips.
Many animated T.V. series actually just based on a four frames comic strip series.

You might also get your ideas of scenario from various videogames :D
As for softwares, I recommand The Gimp, which is a free software, and almost as powerful as photoshop (at least when it comes to coloring a picture)
there are some nice tips (http://www.eclipseunleashed.com/) here

I am a newbie as well esp in this field. I totally agree with that. I am quite nervous about it actually.
One thing, however, if you have the interest and i mean it..you can excel. My relatives are kinda prefer me to pursue teaching or nursing. My mum said that I am really different from the others having such a major interest this field.
Yes, you need to learn, learn, learn and you mustn't stop. Creating anime is also my dreams and I am currently brushing up my skills on drawing. It's not an easy job and pursuing this, you need to be patient and not give up.
I admit that at times, i was really frustrated and tired..kinda of want to give up but this is all that I have. I discover that there is no such thing as a free lunch or easy job. Must really work hard.
So, Kambate and I look forward to your works. :-)

practice practice practice, I guess. There were some really good tutorials on www.deleter.com but I just checked the site and it seems to be offline :worried: They weren't tutorials about how to draw faces and stuff, more of decoration, flowers, backgrounds, things like that
