This zany comedy spectacular from Steven Spielberg is set in Los Angeles just days after the attack on Pearl Harbor when the fear of a Japanese invasion threw the city into a state of pandemonium.

I saw it when it was first released. It was some time ago, but I remember thinking that aside from a few funny bits, and that in spite of a very talented cast and director, the movie as a whole was quite mediocre.

The movie was decent, far from Spielberg's best. Then again, far from his worst also. I think that the problem it had was too many great actors in a movie that wasn't what people wanted to see at the time.
Ah well.

I've seen it and it was nothing to write home about. Okay, but not great as comedies go. I think that was the only comedy Spielberg ever did, and now we know why.

Maybe that is also the reason why I haven't heard of the film. :-)
Anyway, I am glad that I did not miss anything by not seeing the film..

Miss Apollo this is one of those films you watch late at night when you can't sleep and don't really have anything to do the next day! It's not a great film, but there are funny parts to it!

Like when the Japanese Submarine Commander (Toshiro Mifune is the Actor) is talking to a German Commander, they are both speaking different languages, but they understand each other.
