Wow is there really nothing out there about this? Tough subject.

Like if I wanted to say, see picutres or, get information about live acts going on, there is no one place I can go to get some information?

Hrm...

You did specify amature bands, live, English, but I use the links here; http://www.keikaku.net/links.php
You may try searching Yahoo Japan: http://www.yahoo.co.jp/ for Live house and browse Smashing Mag: http://smashingmag.com/index1.html. Even in Japanese you should be able to discern dates.

It seems that most of the Japanese bands popular with people overseas are the visual typoe bands. Is this the case for most of you guys?

What kind of things do you like to see in magazines or websites that cover Japanese bands?

Music forums aren't really a good place to judge. VK fans dominate not in numbers but in their enthusiasm. I prefer Acidman, Analogfish, Jude, 10-Feet, etc. What I look for in a site, profiles, discographies, interviews, song samples. The later is a must if I'm going to buy an album.

All of the sites you listed are great. They each have something different to offer. Add The Japan Times, http://www.japantimes.co.jp/arts.htm and it would round out the list.

A lot of links here still work for getting info on Japanese music.
