Actual House Prices in Japan?

I want to find out the costs to buy houses in various parts of Japan. (Mostly curiosity...)

So I'm looking for articles in English with some examples, or websites in English or simple Japanese. Everything I can find is about renting or leasing. :okashii:

Small idea of what your looking at (from mikes site)

New house in Saitama, approx 1:30hr north of Tokyo
Start at 17,800,000 yen (about US$174,400) which isn't too bad really, but I imagine theres more to it than that (no way that includes the land).
Plus theres the problem of getting a loan, I had trouble just opening a bank account, getting any kind of money out of the banks would be a delight.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, where it's impossible to buy a house anyway (we're talking 500,000 USD for a small, aging house with no yard to speak of, no A/C or heating, etc.), so I wanted to compare a little.
