Tapes for 'Japanese for Everyone'

Does anyone know of a resource for getting the companion tapes for 'Japanese for Everyone'? I love the textbook, but suffer from not having the tapes!

Good luck finding something! I looked for a long time for the audio for Jordan's book and for the Nakama series and finally just gave up and bought the Genki series which is newer and has it's audio CDs readily available.

One Amazon reviewer said she ordered the tapes directly from the Japanese publisher... but I think you need to have someone proficient in Japanese to do so! (as the page is all in Japanese)

Anyone have ideas?

Check Amazon.co.jp first. If that doesn't work, you could maybe call the Kinokuniya stores around the U.S. and see if they have them (or if they can order them). They sometimes have old books and tapes and stuff that gathers dust for a while. And they'd be happy to wrap them up for you and ship them to you.

Yes! Kinokuniya NYC had them! A phone call and some clumsy Japanese later, I have them! Thanks! Granted, I'm $100 lighter, but its worth it. BTW, they have a whole Japanese learning catalog with lots and lots of tapes and whatnot. Give em a call if there is something you can't find. And they will get someone to speak eigo for you :-)

If you can't find it anywhere try a search on kazaa or mirc or some downloading site. That is where I got mine from ,but my audio lessons are by pimsleur. It is just an idea. Good luck! :-)

ive got them... there very 80's but help get the point across. the skit's are quite good also. they all talk in real time and the grammer builds up nicely through the lessons. i wouldn't use them as my only source of japanese learning but they are good to have. theres Lets learn Japanese II out now as well if you look hard enough. (p.s. im seeding it..! :-) )

So, is "Japanese for Everyone" a good textbook to learn Japanese on your own? I am looking for a good beginners book. Would it sound bad, to say that I want to learn to speak some basic phrases first and then worry about the actual written language?:blush: I don't mind being 'illiterate' but, being unable to speak or understand what is spoken to me is unbearable.

I'm not sure if its ok to post this here (if so, admin, please remove) - but I have the tapes for Japanese for Everyone. I'm looking to sell them & would be happy to let them go to someone in the JREF community - bought them new & two of the tapes are still wrapped. Someone can PM me if they are interested - again, not looking to break any rules here...

Other than that, the book is excellent (I've written up something on it in an early post of mine) but you must know kana - romanji is gone by the 3rd or so lesson. The tapes are also excellent - clearly spoken with listening exercises.

I also have the tapes for Japanese for Everyone (I think it's a good book, but the tape format really made it a pain to use--- I'd much prefer something digital that I could rip & put on my ipod)... I also think it's a bit dated material...

Still, I really did like the book--- I think it does everything right that a Japanese course work should do (drops roumaji quickly, uses situational grammar), but I think you could do with a better choice these days in either Genki, or (I've read) Minna no nihongo...

Unfortunately the catalog from which I purchased the cassettes (at seventy dollars no less!) is, along with the rest of my Japanese books, still in Japan. I had to order mine from a company in Japan--- I'll see what I can find out though.

I will buy the tapes for "Japanese for eveyone", if you have the audio files available in MP3 format it will be better.
