I had another thread on how I'm translating the game "Inuyasha Naraku no Wana Mayoi no Mori no Shoutaijou (J).gba". Well I got my technical stuff worked out, made a program to help view and edit text graphics and all that. Now to more fun stuff(well, the programming and stuff is fun too but at least its different).

I attempted the following translations:

無記名
"empty"
It was the label for the files that hadn't had a game started in it yet and after a quick translation of 'unregistered', empty seemed to fit with other games.

使う草子を選んでください
"Please choose/select a game (to play)" (depending on what I can fit/feel like)

(Main Menu)

はじめから
New Game
あらたにゲーメを始めます。
Begin new game

つづきから
Resume
中断した所からゲームを再開します。
Resume paused game

記録から
Continue
セーブした所からゲームを再開します。
Continue saved game

付録
Extra(trying to think of better title)
イベント絵や音楽が閲覧できます。
Event pictures and music

How are those?

Note: Because these are menus, I'm not so much asking for translation help here but for your opinion on whether it fits as a title/description for what it is or if I misinterpreted what a feature was/should mean.

Since they all are for the game menu, you don't have to end the sentence in the polite form. There are also a couple of corrections to be made.

使う草子を選んでください=>使う草子を選ぶ
はじめから=>OK
あらたにゲーメを始めます。=>新たにゲームを始める
つづきから=>OK
中断した所からゲームを再開します。=>中断したゲームを再開
記録から=> This one's awkward. What do you mean exactly? If you mean "continue," it will become the same as つづき above. (Sorry, I'm not a gamer, so I can't figure out what you mean.)
セーブした所からゲームを再開します。=>セーブした所から再開
イベント絵や音楽が閲覧できます。=>イベント画像を 見る・音楽を聞く (What do you mean by "event"? イベント may not be appropriate, depending on the meaning.)

Sorry, you seem to have misunderstood, I am translating a japanese game into english. The japanese is what I'm reading. The english is what I'm coming up with. Everything in japanese apparently was appropriate for the game cuz its there. I want to know if my english fits it.

Sorry! Comes from my ignorance of games... :relief:

Then, the problem is 記録から. What is that supposed to mean?
In computers, 記録 is usually translated as "log."

Continue saved game

that's why I assumed it meant a saved game. Since the description says to resume from the place you last saved, "continue saved game" seems good and "continue" seems like a good title. I would like a suggestion for a better title for the fourth menu item though. It seems to be where you can view pictures and hear music from events in the game. I labeled it extra but there might be a more descriptive title. (This will get more fun when I get into the game's story)

記録から probably suggests that there is a list of saved games, so why not something like "Pick/select saved games"?

The literal translation for the fourth item would be: Browse pictures and music from game events.

That's about all I can think of.

Since you understand exactly what each item means, you can take off and translate creatively without being so concerned of the Japanese descriptions. HTH!! :bluush:

記録から
continue from file

セーブした所からゲームを再開します。
resume game from saved position(like from a quick save, very common on gba)
