Before I went to bed I listened to PROTOPLASM the way Takumi said to listen. To pretend as is you are sleep and close your eyes... I lied down and got comfortable and played the single. Wow... that's all I can say. Just at a first listen I couldn't appreciate the complexity of the sounds created. I saw it's outer shell. The emotions and the catchiness... I picked out parts I liked. By pretending I was asleep and putting myself at a more relaxed and vulnerable state of mind it allowed me to experience it as a whole in a complete new light. It was such a strange experience. I smiled... I cried. I would get chills and tingly sensations... shocks up my spine and goosebumps. At times I felt numb... sometimes I could feel my heart wrenching inside. A few times I thought it would truly break. Some parts I felt cold... others I felt warm. I felt heavy... I felt lighter than air. And then there were feelings I just can't possibly describe... It was incredible. Just saying these things means nothing. For all I know it may just be me... you may not feel a thing.

Ahh... I will translate all the journals about the single soon... I'm nearly done with Takumi's. :sorry: I'll get to translating Satsuki and Mika's... I haven't tried to read them fully but it sounds like they've gotten hate mail about the single. Poor guys... Mika said it was as if they attacked his heart. Satsuki said something I couldn't understand (how expected XD) I think he said how fans were heartbroken by the change and voiced these feelings as painful criticisms to him or something like that.

haha... me... poetic? :o The bass... my god. Ryo has improved so much... he made my jaw drop. RES has always had fun or interesting basslines... especially once wither single was released. That's when it started catching my ear... but this was the first that I was like "DAMN!!! :shock:"

Well... I could be wrong... haha. I may be reading out of context. I'll know for sure when I've translated the whole thing. I can see why Mika would be so hurt. He does most of the mixing for the band... with Takumi's supervision... Takumi isn't very good with electronics it seems. :lol: It doesn't seem hard to break Satsuki's heart though... he probly got one hate mail and acted like it was a hundred... XD I guess Takumi wrote his entry before the wave of hate mail. He seems cheery and laughs a lot... cause he was the one who wrote all the music. :? Of course Ryo's entry had nothing to with the single... jerk. haha.

When understanding, ne? (I think he means to be refering to the title be awake while trying to understand the single... but he goes on to tell you to sleep. I love you Takumi but you are a strange one XD) Today is sale day. This year's maxi-single is rather dense, the sounds that is. *laughing* Please adhere to these comments so you can most likely solve the densely created puzzle. Also the Remix captured time, ne? (he uses "jikan" which means hour or time... I completely guessed at this sentence since I couldn't figured out what "kakatsutashi" meant... >.<) We did "Taiyou no Todokani Basho", but it is everyday we continue to intently hear your voice Satsuki. (I think he's saying we hear Satsuki's voice everyday cause they are recording the album right now... but that has nothing to do with the remix... you see why he is hard to translate? XD) You think it's possible to do me a favor? When sleeping, making the room dark, you should listen, ☆to the sound for it recently has healed most. (maybe he still is talking about Taiyou no Todokanai Basho... or perhaps the whole single... I don't know... haha.) So until you hear till end, you sleep *laughing* with such a method you see the variety from which it starts.


I'll get to work on Mika and Satsuki's journals. Also I started translating Iconoclasm. But it may be a while before I have it done. I want to get it right so I'll see if one of my friend can help me. I have a friend who's a Japanese exchange student here and another who's majoring in Japanese and studying there now. They know so much more than me (naturally XD) :( :D

From working immediately before writing this, the instant I sit down in the chair for some reason I am still is studio mode.

[i](whatever that means... haha. Maybe he is talking about laser lights or that professional musicians will see how kick ass the new stuff will be. Mika is so cute.)

his whole entry was a bit vague so I took some liberties and elaborated on what I think he was trying to get across. I was wrong about the hate mail. My appologies. :gomen: But I am certain Satsuki says he got letters of mixed feelings. I'll take a break before I do Satsuki's... he always gives me a headache. :okashii: :D

After listening to Protoplasm a few more times, I've come to like it a lot. I guess I was expecting it to sound like their older works lol. The only thing I still don't like is Satsuki's screaming (not that I have a problem with screaming) at one part...other than that the rest is great! I was expecting a guitar solo though...

There's one point where he does a really good scream. :) I can't describe it exactly, but it's like in 3 seconds he goes from gentle-ish sound, through really heart-stoppingly pure note, to a kind of scream-growl, all perfectly on the same note... ahhhh... :love: that's skill at screaming, that is! :cool:

I figured they had a change in producers or something. I noticed a bit of a difference between their Shpire Croid/Mizu yume miru chouchou days and thier Protoplasm stuff. I hate to say it, but I prefer when Yukari produced them (for now at least)...it had a more "professional" sound to it. Its still good that they've started to produce themselves though, they'll get the hang of it i'm sure.

I tried romanize and translate the new single title but I don't know the first kanji... it's "? iro no taiji" or translated "? color of fetus" o.O It's certainly not a normal "color" if even a color at all... I'm not sure what it could be. >.< It looks like it's in katakana above the kanji but it's so tiny I can't see to read it. -_-*

EDIT: Yay! I just got an email that Mizu yume miru chouchou arrived and my order was shipped out today so I should get my stuff in 3-6 days.

I got my stuff today. I like the cd art for PROTOPLASM... especially in inside of the booklet. That photo is brilliant. Somehow I got the poster even though when I pre-ordered the first press was sold out... o.O Not that I'm complaining... XD They look weird in it though... I think it's the glowy effect on their faces... it makes them look not like themselves, and Takumi looks like a midget cause of the angle. :D :lol:

Haha... Takumi's shoes are funny. Did you see the in store event picture... they were in all black suits... it was weird O_O Well... Well... I say start with Yurikago... that's how I started. Sincerely got me hooked then Re-birth and Fallen stole my heart... the rest is history. Then try Sphire-Croid... it's pure brilliance. :love: Their latest release is PROTOPLASM and it is to die for... literally. Mizu yume miru chouchou has great tracks and variety. Most people would probly say Sphire-Croid to start, though.

I would agree with the recommendation of Sphire-Croid. And Protoplasm. If you could get only one album and one single, I would say get those. :cool: (Although I like most of their stuff, those are the ones that really stand out for me.)

I hadn't noticed their feet at all! :giggle: *sigh* I never wear high heels... I don't feel comfortable in shoes/boots that I can't run in, and climb over walls if necessary. :worried: :D I go for the New Rocks if I need a bit of extra height. :blush:

for anyone that wants it I scanned the Mizu yume miru chouchou cover nice and big cause I'm drawing it. I only have the right side of his face sketched and the butterfly and that took me like 4 hours yesterday... I'm so stupidly slow and a perfectionist. It's gonna be 18x24in I haven't drawn anything so large in a while. :relief: Any suggestions on medium(s)? I think watercolor could be nice. :? it helps I had to do a study of butterflies in watercolor in high school :D

I looked up Rainy Blood to find out what CD it was on... and it says the CD you said, just above it... but then before Rainy Blood it just says Rentrer en Soi, December 25 2001, as though it was a following release... with also Hamon tsutau memai... so... :clueless:

I ordered mine from Cdjapan and I just barely ordered protoplasm again from amazon.co.jp, so if I get them both on the same day i'll be pissed not only because i'll have 2 copys of the same cd, but because I spent alot of money on both oh well another birthday present for my friend.

I haven't been able to find any of their earlier stuff online, but then I can't really read japanese, but amazon.co.jp could have them, but I could also be wrong.

Also i've figured something out, and yes i know i'm slow, but I figured out that Takumi can't be older then 26 or younger then 16 :-) I feel so smart now

Some stuff is out of print. You can probly find used copies in Japan in local music stores. The earliest release you can get on most sites is their wither single. Jpophelp has Yurikago 2nd press but it's not in stock. It's on backorder so it "should" be still avaialble. It's quite expensive though. With shipping it's like $70. One day I'll get it... *sighs*

You can find the gigantic unresized versions of them on jrock_scans if you are interested... people seem to complain about posting large pictures these days so I made them much smaller. ^^;

Oh... does anyone have romanized lyrics (and translations if possible) for Astre and Kein and PROTOPLASM?

Also... this is kinda random, but someone may care. No one seemed to know what Kamiseikai and Fukaseikai meant... I stumbled across "seikai" while trying to translate something else. It roughly means political arena. (because I think Satsuki forgets his lyrics sometimes and this was a blend... he took the prefix "sei" which is commonly used in compounds related to describing disposition/proclivity and the second kanji from seikai which is like a court or arena for political purposes and slapped them together XD) So "kamiseikai" - god's political arena and "fukaseikai" - deep's political arena... deep I imagine is the ocean like "the deep" not hell or underworld or underground or anything of the likes cause those are all completely different kanji's... Also dealing with the themes of the Astre and Kein... Astre with it's astral themes most people think god and heaven are in the sky or universe and Kein being about the ocean so that's why I think that "deep" is the ocean... makes sense right? I thought it was interesting. Makes me very curious to know what is being said... I wonder if Satsuki is talking like a judge or a god... haha.

I thought this was worth mentioning... haha. My mom actually likes RES. I think that's so unbelievably funny. She hates all my music, but she said they were bearable and quite pleasant at times. She gets mad though cause she wants to know what Satsuki is saying so I have to try to explain it to her... haha. Well she's not fond of any of their screaming ones or ones that are too loud. I was playing CLEVER SLEAZOID in the car with her today, and she asked me where the other band went... refering to RES which we listened to the last time we were in the car together ...haha.

To answer that question about Kyo I think it is the kyo from Dir en grey because Rentrer en Soi is signed to Fire Wall Div (if I remember correctly it's Diru's record label) over in Japan and Free Will over here in America :-)

I haven't listened to the sample yet, but from listening to RES music and Dir music generally, I don't think Satsuki's voice and Kyo's voice are very alike really. Maybe at certain times if Satsuki screams or growls, it becomes slightly similar at that one moment, but usually they don't have the same quality of voice. Kyo's voice is a bit harsher, and although he can sing high at times, too, it's not the same type of voice... it's hard to describe the difference :mad: but Satsuki's voice seems a bit clearer than Kyo's.

Nope... they have another single Karasu Iro no Taiji being released this month and an album next month... I'm not sure what it's called it just says new album RENTRER EN SOI on their OHP... perhaps it's self titled. *ponders on this* Gah... I'm so excited... I wish the single was released before my birthday... oh well... it'll be like a late birthday present to myself... LOL.

Kyo and Satsuki have completely different voices... @_@ and Kinsao is right... it is hard to decribe the difference... but I mean it's clear they have very different voices... I think even their screams/growls/dying animal sounds are different XD ...I think Satsuki has more crisp/clear sound to his voice... also he doesn't need a moment to drastically change his voice it just flows... smooth and unbroken... a perfect transition. I think Satsuki has better control of his vocals as well.

Why is everyone comparing RES to Diru everywhere I go... it's a bit of a slap in the face to all their hard work. They are working so hard and they are so exhausted and everyone says there are too much like Diru. They are aiming to build a new and better RES... not a new and better Diru... :(

I know, it's just that one song to me though. I now have two of the ReS cds, and he doesn't sound a thing like Kyo in either of them, so yeah, I shut up about that now. XD

Haikyo to Kashita Hakoniwa on Kein no Hitsugi is a really good song, he does get all screamo and roar like, and then BANG, normal voice..almost like 1 second and it's changed, and I find that very talented. They sound nothing like Diru, not even on the harder songs, they have their own type o thing going, so people do need to drop that compairison..I was basing my judgement on the clip of that one single, and I was wrong, so I apologise to anyone who got hurt by me compairing Satsuki. I know that it is different now, because I got more songs, and I like them because they are ReS, they are not anything else..and Kein no Hitsugi is very much the proof of that.

Astre no Ito is more catchy then it is heavy, and I was very suprised how different their style was on this cd, compaired to Kein no. I really respect that they are not afraid to be so different, course, some of the slower songs are not so different, but those all of a life of their very own too.

What I am trying to say here IS, it is only that new single that I heard it, and in nothing else.

Kyo is a great vocalist, but i've always loved Satsuki's voice a lot more. They sound completely different imo. Satsuki's voice is a lot more delicate and soft and Kyo's is a lot rougher.

JHR (or JHRE) is Jhouserock entertainment (http://www.jhouserock.com/). Jhouserock is who brought D'espairsRay, Sid, Duel Jewel, and PLC to America most recently. Free-will America is who brought Dir en grey. However, JHRE and Free-will are run by the EXACT SAME people, so that's why I put free-will/JHR. Sorry to confuse you, but they're the same company, different names.

I'm not sure which would be better. I'd say internet, probably, because that would be much easier to promote and such, you'd get a lot more people that way.

Maybe both of them come with a photobook it's just one of the songs on each press is different I know that, that could be why, we may never know :o

The second press was re-recorded though so there maybe some slight barely noticable differences... I'll scan my photobook... if it comes with one... it said it did... we'll soon see *shrugs*

I hope so too... the image had the cd in a big plastic envelope with a book but I couldn't see very clearly... it said something about it being available through retail stores or something... it was confusing.

for any curious minds this is the background for the RES website I'm making... I made like 6 different ones but I like this one best... I made it my desktop background too... I think it looks snazzy... haha... bleeeh... now I have to re-format all the stuff I did for the other layouts cause they won't work with this background... XD

I found one called Talkhost but you have to join their forum and meet certain criteria like with this amount of posts you can start a website free with this amount of memory... in the end if you meet all the criteria you get:

That's a good idea, unless it's am mp3 rotation, or a gfx site. If not, 2gb of bandwidth is a great deal for a free account. :cool:
