How do you say .. How do you say in japanese?

Well. This thursday is a big step for my family and I. We are moving to phoenix. After we move, and after I get my last year of school done , I plan to visit tokyo. I want to learn japanese desperately, and I wish I could live in japan. But it will take several years to be able to speak and read japanese fluently. It is such a hard language! I love to communicate (Or at least try to) with japanese people on this forum. I recently spent all my money on a japanese dictionary. And I have the book Japanese Grammar. (a 100 page short book).

But my question is, I want to know how to say "How do you say.." in japanese. So I could ask a japanese person a question and its answer in japanese. And when I point at something , I want to be able to ask "What is this?" (I believe this one is . kore wa nan desu ka? sore wa nan desu ka (for objects farther away) ) .

"whatever you want to say" tte, nihongo de nanto iimasu ka

eg. "lunch" tte, nihongo de nanto iimasu ka.
answer: "hirugohan' tte iun desu

There are a few ways. Your book could have it as "XXXwa Nihongo de dou iimasuka?" or "XXX wa Nihongo de nante iimasuka"?

And "Sore/Kore wa nan desuka" are both correct. :cool:
