ツボ?

Hello there! I have a couple of sentences that I'm about 70% sure on, but would appreciate it if someone could explain what "ツボ" means in this sentence, and whether or not the sentences are indeed translated correctly.

char1: 泣くツボってひとそれぞれよねえ
char2: ツボの問題？

What I've worked out is:

char1: The point of crying can be managed by every person differently.
char2: The point?

My trouble mostly rests with the "ツボの問題" part.

I'm wondering whether it's "the point" as in "the point of no return" or "the stopping point." I'm imagining that these sentences mean "The point when someone cries varies from person to person, eh?" "Is it a question of the point when they cry?" I'm not sure how close that is, though.

Glenn's suggestion is right.

"Tsubo" is originally the name give to the points on the body to be pressed to produce a desired effect (better blood circulation, pain relief, etc.) when practicing acupuncture and other traditional health therapies. So, "tsubo" is the special trick, technique, approach, action, etc., that produces the desired effect. :-)

Ah, so it's what we call "pressure points" in English then, is it? I think it's also similar to "pushing one's buttons" in this context, at least.

Thanks, Glenn! That makes a little more sense. So then what's a good, not-awkward way to translate "tsubo no mondai"? "Is it a question...etc.etc."?

I don't really know. I'm thinking of a couple of different interpretations right now, and which one to use depends on context.

"Mondai" is matter of concern or issue here. :-)

Yeah, I was thinking "is it a question of which buttons to push (to make someone cry)?" It's a hard one to translate, at least for me.
