Are there any rules which nouns can form compounds (NounNoun, e.g. 子ども部屋 [こどもべや] or タクシーのりば) and which nouns need to be combined using の (NounのNoun, e.g. 昨日の朝 [きのう の あさ])?
Thanks,
Fred

I think you want to use の to compund nouns in that manner.
私の車 My car
家の中 The houses inside (Inside the house)
来週の月曜日 Next week's monday (Next monday)
But some compunds actually have other kanji for them.
You'll learn them as you go along.
