'What we are going to perform next is called the Zapin Dance. It is believed that Muslim missionaries of the Middle East namely Persia and Arabia introduced the dance to Malaya during the fifteenth century. The dance was originally performed by males only however it is also performed by female dancers these days.
The Zapin dance is said to be inspired by the ebb and flow of the tide and the lives of fisherman and these movements are derived from the feeling tossed around in a fishing boat and having to catch yourself before you are thrown overboard.'
and also this one please...
'A very good morning to all of you, and it is with great pleasure and pride for me to speak in a foreign language, a language that belongs to a country that deserves a never lasting respect by all Asian countries for Japan has far exceeded its rivals in terms of science and technology and also for its high social and moral standards.
For the very first time, 'Sekolah Sri Graden' is sending 32 students to Hokuryo High School for a student exchange programme. It is hard to string words to express how grateful and excited I am to be one of the 32 young ambassadors to Japan, a country I have long heard and admired.
Though only 4 days, it will probably take me years to mention things that comes into my mind at first; learning new language, new culture, different people, and to just stop at these few points would probably be not suffixe enough. The things are important, but there are other things which have a lasting impact on our perspective of life and people and the world. Also never forget the never ending roller-coaster memories.
Students who go on exchange are at perhaps the most formative stage of their mental development. It is during the late teen years, that students develop moral ideas and world views. The normal student would gain these views from people of the same culture, but an exchange student is given an incredible opportunity. That is, the chance to develop these views by experiencing first-hand on to the different lifestyle and culture of another country, something that no one can truly comprehend through books at home. In addition to this, they are given the chance to become independent in their views and opinions
I am optimistic that the relationship between our school with your school will be strengthen and hopefully, this student exchange programme will be an intergal part of both schools' culture. Not only that, I wish that both schools will also collaborate with each another in more international programme and projects to come. I myself will inspire other teenagers how hugely beneficial is such student exchange programme.
Such programme is opening the eyes and minds of young people and leading them towards international understanding a peaceful world is seeking for. Therefore, thank you to Hokuryo High School for their willingness to accept us and for giving us a chance to be involved in the student exchange programme. Thank you'
ah..i know it's really long...
