yeah. i know what you mean, i just know that they were talking a lot about it and stuffness, there were no reports, that ive seen, about who they were thinking to sing...who knows what would have happened.

hide was supposed to be the singer of the new X in 2000, and that wasn't weird at all, he sang in X in some 80's concerts, when they made the 20th century boy cover... I'll upload that video for all of you, is one of those "rare" stuff of X :p

And the music idea was to move for something more "experimental", to fusion X Dahlia CD style with hide solo music style, because Yoshiki made all of X songs based on Toshi vocals, it would had been very interesting, but heh... we all know what happened.

i'd LOVE to hear some more stories from SaKeVi

does anybody here have the dvd of last live? i was wondering what is was like, if it was cut or edited in any way, becase i really want it, but only if its the whole, real, un-cut thing. well, im getting it any way, i just wanna know what im getting.

I have the japanese version of it, and it is cut, it doesn't have the last song, the concert "ends" with endless rain, that sucks!!! but hey, it has a bonus of the born of Violet UK on it... :okashii:

But there is a SKY version of the Last Live, uncut and complete just as it was shown at PPV, it is on almost all of p2p programs, but be sure that it says "SKY" on it =P

The Last Live was offered on Pay Per View by SKY, but there isn't an official release of the complete Last Live... you can probably find it on eBay or Japan yahoo auctions, but I'm not sure of the video quality or if it's recorded as a VCD =/

If you want my review of X-Japan Last Live, just don't expect me to be kind with it... unfortunately they just made another Dahlia Tour date with an extra song on it.

Aaaah by the way, a curious story about the Last Live: hide wanted to play stab me in the back on the show, and it was going to be played, but the petition wasn't accepted in the end, because it would probably be misunderstood... why?? Yoshiki didn't want people to think and relate that song with Toshi's attitude of leaving the band. Instead, they played Longing, also, with a related message (I'll sing without you...) of the disband on it.

Not really drunk, he was a total professional on stage, and gave his spirit in every concert he made with X, he really loved the band; in fact, he was the most affected member when X disbanded.

The one who showed up drunk once in a live show was......... Mr. Yoshiki!! have you ever heard of the Extasy Summit shows?? well, in one of the ES, he drank too much on backstage, and when all the musicians made the encore (Anarchy in the UK) he went out to stage drunk, with his unplugged guitar (as always, hahahaha) and after the show, he continued drinking, and created some troubles on backstage, to the point that he almost got into a fight with Screaming Mad George.

But hey, who could have said something?? he was the boss.

It must be Heath 100%, because Taiji "hated" that his music influences were never listened by Yoshiki, and because of that, he doesn't want to work with him again, unless Yoshiki accepts to work 50/50 on music creation, and we all know that will never happen, hahahaha.

Well, in fact, Taiji was originally a guitar player, he started playing guitar in punk bands as Mohorks and The Trash, then he moved to a metal band called Dementia, but they already had a guitar player, so he took the bass, and never drop it again :cool: by the way, his artist name used to be Ray, hahaha.

Well, another kind of "not-relevant" stuff is that Yoshiki used to like punk a lot when he was a teenager, in fact, even when he was starting to be famous (around 1989) he worked with punk bands as Death Side and Lipcream for the L.O.X. CD, and even in 1991 he appeared in a big punk tribute to Masami (one of the icons of punk, he was the singer of Ghoul and died that year)

Since I knew this, I just can't stop thinking how that tribute concert was, taking into consideration that most of the bands that participated there were hardcore/anarcho punk bands, and I can't imagine Yoshiki dressed up like a woman or a doll with too many "rude" guys on stage.

I got hold of a Saber Tiger CD (saver tiger and saber tiger is the same, that's what I heard anyway..) and I thought that it was the old band with hide in but it turns out that hide was in Yokusuka Saber tiger (saber tiger was firts so hide's band added Yokusuka...). Anyway, I suppose my Q is, how does that work? Are there 2 band or even 4? Saber-saver..?

Should add, The CD I got I SOOOO GOOOOOOOD!!! I Recommend it!! The singer is better the Toshi!

And I don't think that their are gone. Their music is eternal. It's classic. The number of their fans is still growing, since jmusic is more popularity. I became their fan 7 years after their brakeup, but I still love them. And I'll be love them forever, because, as I said, their music is eternal.

Yeah, i'm agreed with you. Tears is awesome and it's my favourite ballad. But i'm sentimental, because Crucify my Love was my first X Japan song, and, by the way, first song that i've cried so many times during listening. I was so depressed, when i've read about hide's death and during this I was listening Crucify... My mom was worried about me, because I was so sad about 2-3 weeks... But later I understand that I shouldn't be sad, but be gratefull, because hide was awesome and give us so cool music. I'm always light a candle 2th may and 13th december. But my family doesn't understand me and my brother always laugh at me, when I'm crying watching Last Live or lighting a candle. He is the one person on the world I know, which didn't cry during Forever Love at Last Live.

I got them by a close friend of the band, he gave me them as a present, and in most cases, he asked me not to "share" the videos unless I got a very good trade for them... in fact, he has even more and more videos of the band, and still hasn't shared them with me, for example, their 1st gig ever as X in 1985.

There was a X-Japan trading community on WinMx, but since it is offline, many guys are spread around the world trying to find good trades that were easily done in there...

And many people hated us, because we didn't share those videos, and there was a reason: as I explained you, most of them were private videos, and sometimes they ended with people who didn't know even about X, and the "value" of those videos became 0%.

I know, I sound like an assh0le, but when you finally are on our position, you could understand why we are like this. We are not looking for a status, the bands give us it when they choose just some people to have stuff that not anybody could have... probably it is a priviledge for being a friend of the band (or band members)

If you're upset with this, you will have a heart attack when you find out how much stuff I have from japanese bands: I used to write on magazines and fanzines, figure out the rest of the story.

And finally, don't worry about not having some videos, 4 years ago nobody thought they could ever seen the 1986.10.25 video, it is like a chain reaction, probably in 5-10 years everybody will have some of the videos I own right now, but I would have more "new" stuff from X that you don't :-)

A friend of mine, who is a collector too, got a complete video of the rarest
Queen gig, and I used to ask him all the time if he had found anybody who
was willing to trade it, and he said no.
A year later, somebody uploaded that gig on dvd so that everybody could
download it, and I asked my friend if he had downloaded it yet.
He said: "I've had that video for a year, but I couldn't tell you.
They told me not to."

Mine are Tears and Dahlia. In Tears i love the piano playing and the lyrics. It makes me sad everytime i'm listening to it, because it reminds me of my aunt(who commited a sucidie last year) but at the same time it gives me strenght to carry on, to deal with the pain and to get over everything. As for Dahila i love the drumming and the lyrics are good too :p. And the pv is awesome also.

The thing i love about X Japan the most that i can never get tired of them. I mean i'm not listening to them everyday anymore, but every now and then, when i feel like it i put them on and their are still that good and pleasent to listen as they were the first time i heard them :-)

Anchyyy - hmm... my favourite ballad is Tears. It's just that melody is really awesome. Original. Touching. When i'm listening Tears i always want to cry, but then lyrics says "dry your tears with love", and i cant cry xD Strange, i know, but this ballad is awesome.

From their fasters song i like veeeery much Drain and Scars. Once, during Drain, i was jumping on the bed and i've hit in the wall xD That was so stupid, especially when my brother came and laughing at me >D Well, i can't say why i like those songs, i just like them. X Japan's best song IMO is Kurenai....lyrics, drums, guitar solo, everything is perfect in that song. It was the first X Japan song i heard, and i loved it right away. Tears and Endless Rain are really good too....piano is really good in those :-) But Kurenai always wins out :-)

you should have seen me watching last live one day.
my mum came to my room and saw me crying like:

and i said it was because of the video. she actually
got PISSED AT ME. she told me it was rediculous and
childish to cry over a band! i told her she was so wrong
and didn't know what she was saying since she has no
idea about the sad ending of x and hide's death.. nope,
wouldn't listen to me. so i am considered pathetic over
here... T_____T

it's kinda sick how the last live IS at the same time very sad but then
again it has a happy ending. it's not even possible to have a sad and
happy ending at the same time but x japan made everything possible!

The problem is the file is 408mb!

toshi didn't ruin anything. yes, the whole story is a bit..shady..but if somebody can't do something any more...they simply can't do it. would you rather if have ended the way it did or have toshi be all miserable and not having fun during lives and then have them fighting all the time? no. trust me, when bands get like that its time for a break.

and it would have all been amazingly fine if yoshiki and hide got to do what they planned.
to re-form x in 2000 with hide as the new singer.
but we all know what happened there.

i can't hate toshi or yoshiki or anyone.. sometimes it's just easier to
blame one person for everything but then again it's all so wrong.

i can almost imagine hide as new x's singer and they would still be
doing biiig tours around the world and i would have seen them like
twize already *smiles* but it didn't happen.

it was meant to be that what happened to x happened. it wouldn't
have been the same band if yoshiki and toshi would have been fighting
all the time and if hide.. well you know what happened. it wouldn't be
x anymore. you're right! so it's better to keep the good memories.

It is almost impossible that Toshi would change his mind: he was tired of having that kind of life, that's why he changed his way of being, becoming a kind of "spiritual" guy, very opposite of the mainstream life. And I don't think Taiji would work again together with Yoshiki...

(If I've got this right, Taiji is very good at playing guitar too)

He's good, but not as good as Pata or hide... punk music is not very difficult to play on guitars ^^

He left the band because his music style was very opposite of Yoshiki's, that's why he joined (and created) thrash metal bands as Emperor and Rommel, just as Taiji did with Loudness and D.R.I., soooo... forget about it.

hide singing would not have been X at all, that band would have been a whole new concept, taking into consideration that all the songs Yoshiki composed were made according to Toshi's vocal tunes, and the new songs should be made on lower tunes so hide could sang them...

Yoshiki is very hypocritical, he says X is in the past, but he still wants to make money with it; he wasn't X, they sucked when Taiji left the band, because they lost a lot of power and changed to a lighter music style... in the end, if he takes back X to the scene, they will live only because of the memories, I bet that it will suck so bad, because they will not have anything new to bring to the music scene, a thing that they made in the 80's, but not now.

This thread has been dead for some days now, so I guess I'll post another story.:-)

Yoshiki used to dress like a girl since he was a kid.
When he grew up, he rided the motorbike with Toshi, dressed like a woman.
People would put nicknames on him, and provoked fights where even police
would intervene.
One time they arrested him, and when the other guys of the fight were
being arrested, Yoshiki gave them a "nasty" face.

He was arrested a couple of times in LA. Once when they arrested
him he yelled: YOU KNOW WHO I AM? HOW DARE YOU PUNISH ME?

Oh man this thread is making me depressed again, I'm so upset over the Yoshiki Gackt thing. I've always held Yoshiki in high esteem but I agree with those who say that this is most likely a money thing which just takes -10 pts from him in my mind. It just makes it look as if he has nothing to give back to musically and is making a desperate grab that's piggy backing off of the popularity of their names.

I think out of all the members of X Hide continued to be the most passionate about what he was doing. The fact that he was willing to pack up and try his hand out here in the states was living proof of that. Popularity be damned he had a vision and a passion and he was willing to follow it to the end. I'm not against artists being in things for the money. Heck they SHOULD try and get as much cash as possible. But when they stop loving what it is they do and start worrying about how much MORE they can make and about how popular or well known they are it becomes a bit heart breaking.

I honestly don't think Hide would have liked Gackt or approved of this project. :okashii:

I think Yoshiki's lost a lot of that. On one hand he seems just like a little kid in the recording studio he's so happy. And then on he other he goes and chooses Gackt. I dunno, the fact that its Gackt, freakin Gackt is what disheartens me. Anyone else and I would have been wetting my pants to see what would happen but the fact that he's chosen Japan's king of pop makes me so suspicious.

Maybe Yoshikis just become disconnected with Japan? He's been living over here for so long . . . its hard to keep your head on straight.

I think Gackt has incredible control over his voice and I know a lot of people consider him to be pretty but I just don't think he's really doing anything innovating musically now a days. The combo seems all wrong.

But because it is Gackt and because it is Yoshiki fans will line up by the droves to see it wither its good or not and defend it to the death even if its really quite bad. I wish more people who call themselves fans could just stand up and say what they feel without thinking that they're being disrespectful.

Gackt and Yoshiki are close friends and have known eachother for a long time and it was Gackt's idea to start a band and I don't believe that they are doing it for the money (as if they need more) but simply because they want to try something fresh and have some fun.

Considering Yoshiki's past and that bad things keep happening to the people he cares about, it's no wonder that he shut himself in and that that has had an impact on his music. He is not a sell out. He is simply doing what he feels is right for him in this moment. The reason why he spends so much time in L.A might be that he feels at home there and at the same time feels close to hide since they spread his ashes in L.A.

Child you make a lot of good points but like I've said before - Yoshiki obviously is very happy with making music. If you read his blog he's almost child like in his enthusiasm about it and it makes my heart warm to see him so happy after so much sadness in his life (I was one of those fans that wrote to him multiple times lol even though I was so young and the letters most likely were illegible). Also I never said he was in America for unscrupulous reasons, I also believe that he likes it here and nothing more. If he were really coming to America to escape pain he picked a hell of a city seeing that there are more Hide ties to LA than any place else. And as for Gackt . . . while I've stated I'm not fond of Gackt I do acknowledge that he has incredible control over his voice, but he's just not doing anything new and I think if he gets in a project with Yoshiki whatever they produce might end up being just a recycled version of whatever you can hear somewhere else. Fun, exciting the first couple of listens. But not the type of music you can listen to in ten years and really still call challenging.

Baisically I want Yoshiki to be at his best. And sometimes thats knowing when to bow out gracefully and not overstay your welcome.

(And saying that Gackt isn't in it for the money makes me highly suspicious. My best friend's girlfriend works directly for the man and the stories she tells say otherwise.)

Hide: I do read his blog and I believe that there are people who are simply born to become this person/have this ocupation and Yoshiki is one of them. He could become almost anything he want's but he would always feel like something is missing and that something to him is creating music (even though this is the wrong thread, I believe that Kyo - dir en grey, also is like that, he was born to sing). And about L.A, I have never been there but it seems that rockstars do enjoy that city, there is something there that you won't find anywhere else. Also, we have to remeber that even though we know who Yoshiki-sama is, most non-japanese people dont'. So that can also be a reason for him to stay there, if he wants some privacy.

Gackt, I don't mind, actually kind of like him and I'm not saying that he or Yoshiki don't care about money, ofcourse they do but I don't think that this is why they want to work together, atleast it seems like that when it comes to Yoshiki, how greedy Gackt is I don't know even though he is fond of doing commercials for all kinds of products from vitamins to hairgel.

Hrm I never even considered that their friendship might suffer. I don't think so Gackt and Yoshiki have been buds for a while now I think whatever happens they'll keep on keepin on.

Really music is such an intensely personal art that your surroundings deeply influence you so to that extent so does the company you keep. That's the sum up of the Gackt Yoshiki connection in my mind.

That's so cool and then the first day she went to work and we were all waiting to see what would happen and she came back all weary and we said : so how'd it go? What did he say?
