I found out earlier from a friend that there's a rumor that X Japan will be coming back by combing with LUNA SEA.
I went 'O_O' when I saw the article.

Dix Princesse
Dec 24, 2006, 02:15
Well it was from a Japanese website that he found it from. I think it might be possible. o_o Well, I think there might be a 50% chance. The news article sounded very specific.

Dec 24, 2006, 02:16

Dec 24, 2006, 02:20
i agree with haru_urara....and if they were coming back ho will sing instead of Toshi and play guitar instead of hide????
Dix Princesse
Dec 24, 2006, 02:22
The article said they would try to persuade Toshi to be the vocalist, and Sugizo would take hide's place.

I like that video when X Japan and LUNA SEA were playing together. (Was there another band too? I can't remember...)
Hmmm that was a special band called 'Muteki Band', that band just played in 92's Extasy Summit (3 of them, more or less) and they played 'X' because that happened when Taiji left the band, and X didn't have bass player, so, X wasn't able to play in their own Extasy Summit shows, and other band members made them a "tribute" playing that song hahaha.
This are all of the musicians... and X members, but you already know them, so, I don't mention them:
Drums: Shinya (Luna sea)
Bass: AMI (Tokyo Yankees) & George (Ladies Room)
Guitars: Sugizo (Luna sea) Nori (Tokyo Yankees) Ken (Zi:kill)
Vocal: Umemura (Tokyo Yankees)
Favorite songs? favorite videos?
My favorite songs are:
Stop Bloody rain (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HD0SC69M)
Lady in tears (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XFD5TL33)
Rose of Pain (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GW953ZX4)
If you haven't heard one of those songs(or haven't heard it live) put the mouse cursor on the name of it and surprise!! by the way, check out the ending of stop bloody rain, it will sound very familiar, hahaha.
And videos?? many of them are quite good, like the Last Live video or X with Orchestra... but I prefer a bootleg from 1986.11.16, when Taiji made his 1st gig with X, it's a complete riot!!! just awesome.

Hi again Sakevi! ^^
The videos you uploaded were awesome...especially 1986.10.25, I can see that the quality is really top-notch, taking into consideration that it's from the 80s!!
Just a question, just wondering what's the total length of the rehearsal of 1996.01.06?

Just a question, just wondering what's the total length of the rehearsal of 1996.01.06?
Yeah, in fact, I have another "version" of that video (86.10.25) taken from the crowd, but it doesn't have the same good quality as that tape... and also, somebody was selling that gig on DVD, but I still haven't checked it.
And the 96.02.06 rehearsal lenght is more than an hour, they play songs as celebration, X, orgasm, joker, say anything, endless rain etc... as I said, it's like a mini concert, but without the annoying fangirls screaming "yoshikiiiii" in every song, hahaha.
I hope everybody had a great christmas!!!!
Thanks, well, I couldn't (I'm very sick) but I hope you had a great christmas too!! :-)

That's strange, my brother lived there until november, and he told me that there were many japanese stores that carried out X/X Japan stuff among many other bands... he used to hang out in Dusseldorf, Berlin and Leverkusen =/

There is actually a pro-shot of that GIG, I have it too, but it is veeeery dark, and you can see mostly shadows... apparently that pro-shot video I have was not "worked" at all and somebody took it away illegally (just as Kyoto Sports Valley) and shared it with some friends, hahaha.
I don't think Yoshiki or Extasy will release X era shows (1985-1992) eventhough he has lots of gigs taped (and many of them are traded and shared underground) they were taped just for commercial purposes, probably he will release just a few clips of those shows... besides it looks like he doesn't want to remember his old times with the band, that's just sad.
See you!!

not realy...but i heard some place that Yoshiki was thinking about releasing some of the old X gig tapes.....(don't know if this is old news or not)
Hmmm I don't think those tapes would be accepted by many fans around the world, taking into consideration that their old era was too way different of their major era. This would satisfy only "hardcore fans" of X, and sh*t!! most of them already have those old tapes :-)
Also, they will not be a good sale, and they will not be a good business to him, so I say that he will think twice before he releases those old tapes... and another thing is that he will probably can't release a lot of that stuff, because remember that he used to be in Sony, and then moved to Atlantic Records; these guys (Sony Records) recorded almost all of their shows from that era, but they kept them just for commercial and promotional purposes, and as X-Japan is no longer a Sony product, those tapes are still under "SONY REC." and can't be released, unless $omething happens...

X roadies? Pardon my ignorance, but what's/who's that?
Anyway, I'm quite sure it's the host of the show, from the way he phrases his language. And also that I saw the same sticks on the show, so I guess it's a one of a kind. Together with Yoshiki's signature on the sticks xD

A "Roadie" IS a highly trained and specialized technician providing services for touring musical groups.

Yoshiki's latest blog-entry made me really sad.
OK, and X Japan.
I'm like.Why now? ..... Why, why, why?
To be honest. it took years to conquer the pain and sadness. maybe not yet, I still cannot listen to or watch X Japan's videos. without tears.
" MY OWN GODDAMN BAND" . I can't listen to it without crying HOW CAN I BE IN IT AGAIN? IT HURTS SO MUCH TO EVEN TALK ABOUT ...... X JAPAN.
Yes, I can play the drums. I think I can play them even harder than before of course my injured neck and wrists hurt. but SO WHAT!!! . I don't give a **** about that kind of pain.
But mentally. I don't know if I can take it. I'm not saying if I'll do it or not. I talked to Toshi (vocalist). He called me almost towards the end of last year. for the first time since we went our separate ways
Toshi and I..... we grew up together....... I don't know. I don't know. I don't know .
Yes, there are lyrics of the song "WITHOUT YOU" . That, I wrote, right after Hide's death. also, I had to do so many takes of piano recording, because of the tears falling down and flooding the piano keys, and my fingers kept slipping again and again.
If there's somebody to sing this song. I think it should be Toshi. but I don't know. I don't know. I don't ******* know. It's too painful..
I'm sorry, I don't want to make you feel depressed or anything like that. but so many people have been asking me about this, so I had to say something just let me... have a little more time...

Maybe, our dear and lost friend did it for us."

I'm almost sure it's the song Without you, that they will record!
It's the song playing on Yoshiki's myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/yoshiki)
Yeah it must be Without You, since Yoshiki talked about it in his blog and told that he wants Toshi to sing it. Oh god this is BIG news.

i copied these from wikipedia:
"In late 2006 it was reported that there might be a future collaboration with pop/rock artist Gackt and former Luna Sea guitarist Sugizo. On February 11, 2007 a possible reunion was announced; later, on March 21, Toshi confirmed on his site that he had spent some days at Yoshiki's studio rehearsing some parts of Without you. He also confirmed that the reforming of the band would start soon."
guys, i want to know what you think about this clipping ... does this mean that x-japan is back with a new lineup which may include gackt & sugizo? ... i also read in yoshiki's blog that the 4th member of the new band will be introduced at the Jrock Revolution concert on may, in LA, USA.

I like the come back of Yoshiki and Toshi, but im not really fund of Gackt. Dont really know Sugizo. As long as Toshi stays the lead-singer, and he can manage to write some great songs together with Yoshiki like they did during the X Japan era, then it might get very interesting !

Would be soo great to have X-Japan back, though It would never be the same without Hide.. Eventhough it's Yoshiki that writes and composes it all.. Just hope its Toshi that does the vocals and that Gackt plays guitar or something!
Anchyyy
Apr 24, 2007, 15:49
Toshi will defenetly do the vocals, don't you think so? Yoshiki would probably want to compose songs for his voice and without Toshi on vocals they wouldn't be able to sing X Japan songs.
CharismaticDeath
Apr 24, 2007, 18:45
Yoshiki definately wants Toshi on vocals. He wants to record Without You with the lyrics and only wants Toshi to sing it. (If X reunite at all)
Reuniting X and the band with Gackt and Sugizo are two completely sepairate projects. It's not even confirmed that X will reunite, Yoshiki's not sure he can do it. The project with Gackt and Sugizo will, I'm pretty sure, be Gackt - vocals, Sugizo - guitar, Yoshiki - drums, piano. There are rumors that Miyavi will be involved... but I'm not sure I believe that. They already have a guitarist... they should be trying to find a basist! But there's nothing wrong with two guitarists in one band.
Reuniting X-Japan will be exactly that, just the members from before. I don't think they will try and replace hide.

The 1991 & 1992 Extasy Summit official releases are easy to find in p2p programs. And there are also some bootlegs of another Extasy Summit gigs from 1991 but those are a little bit harder to find... well, not really :-)
I actually prefer the 1991.10.17/18/19 performances, they were amazing shows, in 17 they performed with several artist (including the L.O.X. project) in 18 they played "relaxing" songs and the 19 was all X show with covers as Ace of Spades.

^yup there are a couple threads for that ^_^ no need to discuss it here, though. thanks for making sure though...
Jrev... made me sick of The Last Live. they played it in between every band... at first everyone cheered whenever hide came on screen, but that stopped fairly quickly...
there were a couple of heart-warming moments for X fans though... the first night everyone started chanting "X" and doing the arm motions... the second night i girl right next to me all of a sudden just screamed "who are we?!" and everyone screamed "X!!!" ... i hope yoshiki heard and it made him happy. in his blog he seems to have taken everything reguarding X really hard... of course, any human being would...
but! no more babbling... since it's my first post on this thread, i'll say that my favorite X song is Drain.

Today Japanese newspaper Sponichi broke the news that after nearly ten years since X Japan's New Year's break-up concert and nine years since the death of influential lead guitarist hide, X Japan will officially be reforming with a new tour and single scheduled to come within the year.
The article states that founder Yoshiki summoned former vocalist Toshi to Los Angeles to work on a hide-tribute track titled "Without You" (originally released instrumentally on Yoshiki's first album) during November 2006. After an emotional recording session the two felt that "the puzzle pieces just fit," and decided to officially reunite the band.
Yoshiki is said to be in talks with guitarist Pata and bassist Heath regarding the reunion, with hopes to feature the band lineup circa the band's final performance. While nothing has been set in stone, the tentative touring lineup is Yoshiki, Toshi, Pata, Heath, and roughly 10 guest guitarists who will perform hide's parts during various songs in the set.
Current information indicates that X Japan's tour will begin near Yoshiki's home of Los Angeles, with the Toshi-sung single release of "Without You" due sometime this year.
Regarding the reunion, Yoshiki stated the following: "After hide's death most fans were split between two extreme opinions, either 'you reunite and I'll kill you' or 'if you don't reunite I'll die.' I had trouble making the decision and for a while I wasn't able to move forward. This reunion is actually a first for me as well."

10 guests to perform hides part. Wow. That's actually a really good idea... it would erase all thoughts that he was being replaced if they had loads of different people to play his part.
An X show 10 years after hide died... I don't know about any one else but I wont be able to see it [or probably footage thereof as I doubt I'll be able to see it live] without crying. :( I just hope the members can deal with it.

Nearly ten years since X JAPAN's New Year's "farewell" concert and nine years after the death of the band's influential lead guitarist Hideto "Hide" Matsumoto, X JAPAN has officially reformed and is planning a new tour and single, tentatively due before the end of 2007.

Many people say that "It would not be the same without hide", but others don't really care about that, in my case I don't give a damn if he's there or not: X made its first steps with other guitar players, and some of them were waaay better than hide.
Remember: this is X reunion, not hide memorial.
99.99% will see their dream come true: an X Japan reunion; for me, it would be a dream if Hisashi Takai plays with them again, but I don't think that would happen hahaha.

SaKeVi I agree with what you say about it being a reunion not a memorial... actually that's exactly what I was talkin about yesterday. I know it's a reunion but I really can't see how, at least in part, it would fail to be a memorial. But I can imagine that for the most part it would be a reunion gig, but there is no way that they could play Forever Love without referenceing. And the expense of getting 10 guitarists to fill one's place... it all points to a degress of becoming a memorial.
GuitarAddict that sounds like a plan... I doubt they will play anywhere near me though!

Well.. For me I do care about the whole Hide thing, but still I would love to see them no matter what! For me it will be strange to see them without that pink peacock running around the stage :P Just hope Sugizo will be there :P

I could see Sugizo definately as one of the candidates to fill in hide's part. It would be madness if he didn't to be honest!

Jul 17, 2007, 01:43
hide kinda was their whole image, but yeah, I think Sugizo would done Hide's job very well. Umm.. And since I'm a huuuge Miyavi fan I wouldnt complained if he played Hide's part. Many of u maybe dont agree with me about that. xD
CharismaticDeath
Jul 19, 2007, 05:31
No I totaly do agree. I actually think hide and Miyavi have a lot of similarities and I know Miyavi is a fan. It would definately be an honor for him to fill in. And with his SKIN connection, Yoshiki would certainly cnsider both him and Sugizo. Both of which would make me very happy, as they are musicians I respect a lot... and if any one had to fill in for hide they would definately be among my top choices.

Hi all! I'm new to this thread here but I really like X japan, it was the first VK band i knew. Sadly, the day I chance upon X was hide's 9th anniversary. Nevertheless, their song rocks!
After X, I got to know more bands such as Gazette, An cafe, Alice Nine, MUCC and more. hehe. love jrock! I just got my original Dahlia CD too. It's a resale one though, don't know why others do not treasure it. Especially when X is one of the pioneers of VK...haha. But, I'm glad that X is coming back soon!
Looking forward to their comeback, but I hope they retain some of hide's music and flavour. What's X without hide? Afterall, it started with hide...^^

I know you're excited, but please don't mix up X with the annoying and crappy Visual Kei bands.
80's Visual bands were way different from today's Visual Kei; I don't remember watching Visual Scandal, Sekimatsu, Color, Kamaitachi, Rosenfeld, Aion, Fast Draw etc etc band members behaving like drag queens on stage, groping and kissing themselves to be famous among fangirls...
X started with other members, and even their first release under Extasy Records had an awesome guitar player as Hisashi Takai... X started being famous waaay before hide joined the band, he just got famous being a fool on stage; the real and best guitar player of X was Taiji (eventhough he played bass in the band) because he suggested and performed many arrangements to songs, and even hide accepted that.
Bleh...

@SaKeVi: pardon my exuberance...80's VK bands are indeed different from modern VK in some aspects. But I like both. Well, I believe everyone has differing tastes. (:
Oh....but perhaps you were a little harsh on hide. My knowledge on VK is only the tip of an iceberg, so I better not make any comments =x But thks for the info. I knew about some info on Taiji, but have never heard of Hisashi Takai. I think there's still much for me to understand and learn about VK!
P.S The other 80s bands you mention, I have not heard them before. Maybe I shall go try searching for their songs and videos. Any songs you would like to recommend?
Oh sorry, I would like to add on that hide might not be the best guitar player in terms of skills. But I believe that being a best guitar player or rather a musician is much more than that, charactor and personality counts too. And that, with his skills, are what attracts me to hide's music. Fight-oh! (:
@SaKeVi: pardon my exuberance...80's VK bands are indeed different from modern VK in some aspects. But I like both. Well, I believe everyone has differing tastes. (:
Yeah, they're way different, starting with the name: Visual Kei fashion started with your glorious Mana; before that, they were just known as Visual bands

For me (and some others) Hisashi Takai was the best guitar player X ever had; his skills and music arrangements to songs (and the songs he composed and X played) were just awesome. Unfortunately he left the band in 1986, but he was definitely important to raise X's reputation among indies scene.
Check it out, I uploaded this to youtube time ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsKnniDABvE

Seikimatsu is a legend in Japan!! I can't believe you don't know them :okashii:
Color is a band that was close with X members; in fact all of X members helped in a Color LP with the chorus of the songs. They were a rock band that sounded like punk haha.
Rosenfeld is just awesome. In fact, X stole a riff of their song B (from 1986 and renamed later) to make Blue Blood... not many people know this, but that's awful (stealing riffs ¬_¬)
Visual Scandal was a Glam band from 1980, their music was hard to find, but they have released many stuff lately, so you could find some in p2p programs.
Kamaitachi... a crazy band that played as well songs making fun of a pop idol's death (Yukiko Okada) as ballads.

X Japan will never get old! They influenced so many people and I wish they would have been popular in America so more people would see how amazing they were. I love X Japan. And hide. hide will never ever ever really die unless we forget him, along with X.
You are so right, hide will never be gone, neither will X . Yes they might be old, but they're basically legends, for the lack of a better word to come up with. It's like saying Malice Mizer is over with. They might not be together anymore, Kami may have died, Kozi went solo, Mana's in Moi dix Mois, Yu~Ki no one has heard about, Gackt went solo, and who knows about Tetsu and Klaha, but the point is, is that these two great bands live on in the hearts of their fans. Never will they get old. So long as they are in our hearts, both X Japan and Malice Mizer will never die, same goes for hide, the guitarist X lost and Kami, the drummer Malice Mizer lost. New fans are born every day so no, X Japan will not fade

I'm not really a horror movie guy so I wouldn't know. But I believe it will be released as a single for a couple reasons.
1. The song will not be on the Saw IV soundtrack (which I thought was odd)
2. They are making a pv for it
they are filming the pv on oct 22 in tokyo, they're gonna be like on the rooftop of some building
in fact I wouldn't be surprised if they released it together with "Without You" in a maxi single. It could be like
X JAPAN "I.V."
CD
Track 01. I.V.
Track 02. Without You
Track 03. Kurenai ('07 Neu miX)

Track 01. I.V. PV

I always tought I was born to late and thus missed my chance to see X Japan play live. It was hard to accept but I got over it..but now I see this ! I absolutely agree with everyone; they haven't changed a bit ! I notice they will give a concert in Tokyo somewhere in spring 2008 ? Has anyone already figured out a date yet ? I'll be in Japan between March 21st and April 15th so if they perform when im there, im ABSOLUTELY going to attend their show.
I knew they had the reunion but didn't expect too much of it, but this song I.V. is absolutely a typical X Japan masterpiece with these great sweet vocals of Toshi and the great background drums of Yoshiki (He hasn't changed a bit has he !!??) and outstanding guitar play. I found out they used recorded guitar instrumentals of Hide for this new song I.V.
Give them some time to get used to the fans again, and in no time they will be rocking the stage as they used to with their fancy costumes and wild hairs !
So if they give the concert during my stay, then im one lucky son of a b*tch. If they don't, I stick to my first plan; buying most of X Japan's albums and by that time maybe also their first comeback album !
X JAPAN IS BACK !

This topic seems to have died so I'll post the latest X-Japan news in an attempt to resurrect it.
From jaME:
At first scheduled for release on January 25th, X Japan's new DVDs, X JAPAN RETURNS, have been postponed until February 29th. Though all titled similarly, three different DVDs will be available. X JAPAN RETURNS 1993.12.30 and X JAPAN RETURNS 1993.12.31 will each contain footage from those concerts on three discs each. However, a complete edition will also be available and will contain both concerts for a total of six discs. In addition, X JAPAN Returns Complete Edition DVD Box will include a bonus disc featuring unreleased live footage and the new PV, I.V..
From Jrock Revolution:
YOSHIKI and the other members of X JAPAN will be holding a press conference in Japan on the 20th to make their official statement regarding X JAPAN's upcoming schedule.
There's a number of different reports going around right now from both official and unofficial sources. Multiple Japanese mainstream news sources have reported X JAPAN's return to the stage this March 28 & 30---two days at Tokyo Dome, which seats 50,000---and further information regarding the expected schedule of the band, such as their plans for memorializing HIDE.
We turn to the band members themselves for the most definite information, and therefore encourage everyone to wait until X JAPAN has made their official announcement to the press.
We will update you on the report from the press conference as soon as possible. We know everyone's excited, but we only want to report on what the band members themselves say at this time.
In just a couple days, we'll be able to post the most 100% definite information possible about X JAPAN's plans. So please hang in there, and try not to encourage rumors. We also encourage you to pass around the information that the band is making a statement on the 20th, so that X JAPAN and Jrock fans all over the world will be ready for that moment.
Thanks, everyone!
I can't wait to hear what they are actually going to be doing... and get chance to see I.V PV properly! ^^

Ahhh I so wish I could be there! :(
I love the "any one over 3 years old will be required to have a purchased ticket" part... imagine being able to say you saw Xjapan before you could even speak!!

I do hope that they will perform older songs again, and not only new ones for the upcoming album. I have this feeling that they may not do so, because of HIDE passing away..

I'm sure they'll play the classics... people don't know the songs off the album... no ones ever heard it. I don't think they could do a concert with the majority of songs ones fans haven't heard, or had much time to get to know.
The thing I'm wondering about is the opening. I was playing Amethyst on the piano today and it made me think. You know how they always have the voice over saying on guitar ... on bass... on drums... etc etc ... what are they going to do for that? If anythings going to hurt it'll be not hearding "on guitar hide" ... it would also be weird because he's technically on I.V ... so I'm wondering if they'll anounce him any ways... I hope this makes sense... it's just a thought.

Yeah it definetly makes sense. No doubt that in some way they will make a tribute to hide during the concerts. The question is how..
I'm also wondering if they will use the wigs and makeup from the good old days, or maybe just casual as they were with the PV recording of I.V.
