i've been told by the tourist information center in paris that i would have to pay a extra tax to the japan rail pass if i take night trains ( even if i take a regular seat and not a bed or a room, japan rail call it a 'speed tax' ) and that i would pay an extra tax too if one of my luggage is a bike, even if the wheels are out, and the bike in a regular bag for it (something like 300 or 500 yen).
does somebody know something about these taxes or where i can get informations on them ? (nothing is mentionned on japan rail site).
thanks a lot

If there is not you with a bike racer, a carry-on of a bicycle is free of charge.

thank you Hiroyuki Nahima for your help (i didn't find the 'rescue flag button' on the site you quote to get it in english, so thank you so much for checking it for me !) and thank you Budd : i check the transportation part of tcvb, and get there the usual informations on rail pass but nothing for some night trains as i'm getting used to...did you think about something else in these webpages that i didn't guess !
anyway i agree with you so much : i'm searching for a week without success, so it's much better taking time for more interesting stuff.
