I was reading up on a site recently that alot of animes have to have alot of things taken out of them when they arive in other countrys because the japanese find things like gay love, utter gore, underage sex and rape and other things alot more acceptable than we do in their animes and are alot less strict on age certificates/explicit contents.
Like i was reading that when Card captors was released in america, apparently an anime aimed at young girls of 9yrs old, it had to have many scenes cut out of it because of suggestive scenes of gay love. Apparently many fans were disapointed of this as because of this alot of the story plot was lost. Apparently the case of Yu Gi Oh was similar and the japanese version is alot kinkier and darker than the one veiwed over here in england.
I've never been to japan so i havn't seen any of their so called rawer forms of anime and i was wondering if anyone would back up these statements/agree that many taboo subjects over there are alot more acceptable even for children in anime?

all of that is true. it's a common complaint
even astroboy and gatchaman were censored when they came to america

Why don't they just make the age certificate rating higher though? Surely that is easier rather than spending ages making an anime aimed at say, 9yr olds, appropriate for 9yr olds?

The comics of the original of "YU-GI-OH" were carried by comics magazine "jump".
A person of purchasing of this magazine appears more than a junior high student, and there are many people of purchasing of an adult, too.
Therefore there is much sexual expression.

This ANIME is not originally ANIME designed for infants.

You're right alot of things are deemed inappropriate in anime when it comes to other countries. Being in America I've seen quite a bit of edits that have been done and many just because of standards issues. In the case of Cardcaptor Sakura many things were cut and I don't mean the elements of "gay" or homosexual "love" or attractions. The American version also had many scenes of Sakura displaying emotions such as fear being cut. Yu Gi Oh though quite popular here also had many cuts such as the first 6 or more episodes never being aired on television! When it comes to anime the standards are quite extensive but there are exceptions of course as some companies that purchase the displaying rights choose to limit edits such as funimation who have great eased up on their censorship of certain titles (i.e. Fullmetal Alchemist). What it really comes down to however it's about what businesses feel will make them money. Unfortunately however the stereotype that "cartoons" are for children seems to be very strong in the minds of corporations show huge amounts of edits to fit certain "ideal" ages will most likely constantly be made.

In the 1970s, a certain anime series was banned from airing publicly, not because its content was deemed indecent, but because it might arouse rebellion in then martial law government.

I know the "Voltes V ISSUE" in the Philippines.
It is a famous talk. :relief:

It is the ANIME which is not related to politics at all.
It was normal animation in Japan. :?
I like COM-BATTLER V of a previous work

Other than it, "Puni Puni Poemi" becomes sale prohibition by a law in New Zealand.

The worst ANIME was broadcasted today.
"BLOOD+"
An opening begins with a slaughter scene.
There is Sheen skewering a baby with mother
A scene turns into a female high school student's somewhat dirty scene after it.
This is broadcasted at 18:00 of Saturday. :clueless:
This thinks that sale is impossible abroad......
