About Neeto

Hi, I am student in Texas. I want to research about Japanese Neeto, who do not have job and does not have motivation to anything. How do you say people like that in English? If anybody have any ideas, please let me know.

From what I have seen, they are motivated still to sleep and eat and watch tv or play video games, so perhaps they can also be called "Lazy" as well.

The ones interviewed for the FNN (Fuji Network News) report that I saw (not that they are necessarily objective by any means) seemed to indicate that the folks (both men and women) have socially handicapped personalities as well as getting funds from mommy and daddy to help support their "lifestyles."

I think (oh oh, den4 is thinking again) that if you removed their parental funding that they would eventually get off their lazy arses and be forced to find a job or do something in order to at least eat and pay rent, like everybody else. The stay at homes probably are that way because their parents lack the discipline to motivate their kids to be more proactive.

Personally, I find them to be human parasites. It is their choice to live off the funding given by their parents...even pan handlers and street beggars do their "job" of asking for money...

I'm sure there are exceptions, but I can't think of any at this time.... :o

I'd use - "recluse" n. A person who withdraws from the world to live in seclusion and often in solitude. - but it doesn't not carry the same feeling as neeto.

Otherwise you could go with "shut-in" - defined as "A person who withdraws from the world to live in seclusion and often in solitude."
