Yes, I love the sound of the shamisen and the drums.
So mesmerising! I would love to learn to play one day.
I have played a little of the korean drum... I think I just like making lots of noise.

I haven't listened to traditional Japanese music, but I would really like to! Can anyone recommend some good contemporary Japanese musicians or groups that play in the traditional style?

I recommend the Yoshida Brothers if you like the sound of the shamisen. You can see their videos on Youtube for a start.

The Imperial Household Agency of Japan has a department specialized in music, and they play ‰ëŠy gagaku (Japanese Imperial Court Music).
