...need some help on this one. I read that the artist Hokusai invented the word manga, combined by two chinese signs 'Man' and 'ga' - .. 'ga' means picture...but what does 'Man' mean???
please help!!!

Manga (mahn-gah), Literally reads "irresponsible pictures", but has come to mean Japanese comics.

Yes, "Ga" means picture. And "Man" means "wayward", "willfulness", "haphazard", "random", "unrestricted" and "freely".
"Manga" means freely picture without formality.

the "Man" in chinese means "slow" or that's my understanding of it. But I don't think Lotion was interested in the chinese translation heh

Yes, I created the illustration. Writing Kanji is not difficult to me, but English is more hard.:D

Of course Man() has meaning "slow" in Japan too. But usually we use another Man() in meaning "slow".:note:
