Ok, so what is going on with Mana? I heard that he is married and has 2 twin boys, and other say that he is with a male guitarist from some heavymetal group.... Does anyone know the right answer?

Mana is currently in the band Moi dix Mois. :-)

Moi dix Mois are:
K - guitar/vocals
Kazuno - bass
Mana - guitar
Tohru - drums

Juka, the vocalist, left earlier this year I do believe, but MdM are carrying on activity, they haven't disbanded.

They have 3 singles: Dialogue Symphonie, Shadows Temple, and Pageant; and 2 albums, Dix Infernal and Nocturnal Opera. I have some of their stuff if you are interested. :p

Other than that I don't know. He keeps his private life to himself a lot.

Personally, although I do like Moi dix Mois, I find that their songs sound kind of similar - by which I mean that I could listen to 4 or 5 in a row maybe, but probably not a whole album.

You can hear the Mana-ness... definitely... to me, their songs sound like rows of building blocks compared with the sparkly string of beads that are Malice Mizer. I don't mean that in any bad way! Just... it's the way I saw the difference between the two sounds. :bluush:

Really? i thought I was the only one who thought that, so I'm glad I'm not alone. The music isn't bad, I guess, just not as original or innovative as I'd have expected from the leader of Malice Mizer. But I guess this is the kind of music that as a concept he's really interested in.

well, not that I base my life upon Mana's private life but it would just be an interesting thing to know. He is known for being enimatic so if a couple of the questions about him would be answered, it would just be fun to know.....
Just some rumours I heard, wanted to know if any one knew anything about it.

I like Malice mizer and Moi dix mois, but I have to say that Mana isn't my favorite Jrocker... Somehow I just don't really get the hype around him. But he has talent when it comes to making music, not the best music there is but still entertaining.
I also like the whole gothic lolita stile he has going on and can understand that he got his fame from that, being different and starting the lolita cult.

It's a pity that Juka left the band, I really liked him. Even though he wasn't the best singer, couldn't really hit those high notes at lives but he was still good.
Don't know anything about the new singer, haven't heard him.

@ lastmagi: yeah... I'm of the same mind... I actually preferred Malice Mizer's music; it was just more diverse, or so I felt.

@ Winter: true, but some famous people are less secretive about their private lives than others. Sometimes I'm not sure whether I don't know something because the person is keeping it private, or whether it's just my ignorance (not looking in the right places). Maybe that's what Child Prey was thinking.

@ Child Prey: I'm not the world's biggest Mana fan, me neither. Although I do have an admiration for Malice Mizer and his work when he was with them... I guess I am a bit biased because they were the first jrock band I ever heard, and it was something different from what I was used to, so perhaps I credit them with too much originality... but even now that I know many more jrock bands, I still think that MM have a certain something.

And yeah, I admire Mana as much for being a businessman as a musician to be honest... OK his musical skills are good, but there are many other musicians as good... but Mana has the clothing label Moi Meme Moitie, and, as you say, the whole style... even from a quotation that I quoted from him a while back in another thread, he say that he want to create a whole universe (or something like that)... so for him it is as much about the image as about the music. It's not an approach I like so much, but I can respect it and his all-round abilities (he's producer for other bands, too... I'm not sure of which ones though, except for Schwarz Stein...)

They haven't produced anything yet with just K on vocals... Juka only left in April (but I checked just to be sure!) :relief: There's actually quite a lot of hate towards K... people saying that he can't sing so good, and that he "stole" Juka's place... :worried: :(

With the risk of sounding like a fangirl, I have to say that (about malice mizer) Gackt was the best thing that happend them, I doubt that they would have become as popular as they were, without him. Sure, Mana has a large fanbase but I don't think that he alone would have made it in such a large scale as MM did. As I said, I'm not that big fan of the bands but I do enjoy their music (so, I haven't seen seen like whole lives with them and a bunch of PVs etc....) Although, mana is really cool in the moi diz mois live DVD, headbanging with that big hair of his. :cool: Sooo... conclusion... Mana should be more grateful to Gackt, he just threw him out and didn't even say thanks. I know, I got away from the whole mana's private life subject... Ah well. :p Oh and also, Gackt is a funny funny man, a weird man who sits and talks about his manhood on TV.... Ok, I'm gonna stop now before I babble on to much....

I actually really like Klaha's voice in MM, too...
But the whole "Gackt thing"... well... is a whole nother kettle of fish. I am inclined to agree with you about Gackt/MM and the popularity... but I wonder... if the second singer had been someone other than Gackt... would that person instead have become the big star later? (As long as he was a good singer, of course!) So maybe MM helped to create Gackt as a star... in fact I'm sure it did... but whether the other way about, too... well, I can say I never thought of that before. Certainly I'm sure that there are a number of fans of Gackt who gave MM a try when they found out that he had been the singer... so maybe MM got some new fans retrospectively that way. :?

I don't know if Mana "threw out" Gackt... or whether he said thanks... :? I thought I read somewhere that Gackt still sees Mana and the other members of MM sometimes... (maybe I'm wrong though and thinking of something else?) Anyway, no one really knows why Gackt left... or whether there was any bad feeling or not.

He's like one of the most famous people in Japan, and still there are so many secrets.
To us anyways, might be different if we knew japanese.
My guess it's that what you heard were rumors, but it is likely that he is married and has kids.

Well yeah, Mana helped gackt too, that's how he got famous. A lot of his fans are the ones who went with him when he quit the band so it seems like the fanbase got divided into 2. Not always ofcourse, there are those who like both Gackt and Mana but most Mana fans hate Gackt and the other way around....

The first singer in MM, Tetsu, was good too. He had a special voice but when it comes to the MM style, the whole vampires and goth, then to me Gackt has the best voice. Allthough now his voice has changed a bit, if you listen to his latest single and for ex. Illuminati, there is a difference. Before he had a...deeper voice...now its a little higher and sometimes...sheepish ... :p :sorry: (But I still like his voice) So he his voice really suited MM.

I don't like Klaha. He tries to copy Gackt (in my ears) and that opera lessons he took didn't give much.... (geeez, I should rename this thread to Gackt! :p )

I don't know how the relationship between Gackt and Mana looks now.... Hopefully they don't hold grudges against eachother and at least say Hi when they meet on the streets....... But from what I heard, Mana wasn't that fond of him.
