Jealous is a very beautiful song. Alot of the times the titles of the songs don't really have much to do with the song itself.

just got back from FV............i'm soooo tired.

yet so happy cause i got to see dir en grey from the front row, caught toshiya's pick, had kaoru standing smack dab in front me, saw toshiya fall down (that one was kinda sad) and met shinya and die............:cool:

pixie_false: Toshiya fell? aww... what happened? i think the only problem that they had in Dallas was that the heat got to Kyo and he had to sit down a couple minutes after the 3rd or 4th song. other than that, it was a smooth show. we should have gone to the Houston show, appearently.... my friend wants to meet Shinya, and i wanted to meet Die, so we both would have gotten to meet the ones we wanted. oh well, i'm glad i still got to meet Die. :)

I was reading what people we're saying. They we're saying that they wern't allowed to take pictures of toshiya and die, someone said it was because Toshiya had really bad acne and they didn't want people to have pictures of toshiya like that.

At the Toronto show I hope it's Shinya and Toshiya that you'll be able to meet, my friend that lives in Utah and going with me wants to meet Kaoru and kyo, but I'd rather have my friend in Canada able to meet the one he really wants to.

o.o; if Toshiya had acne, he didn't show it.... <.< actually, the reason they didn't want anyone taking pictures is because they didn't say 'no pictures' the day before, and people were taking pics without the member's permission. i know this, because one of the girls in front of us had been one of the people taking pictures without band permission. they really hate when people do that. Kaoru saw the camera before she took a pic of him, and he looked -pissed-! i'd hate to get on any of their bad sides, so me and my friend, hana, were going to ask to get a pic of the guys if they didn't say 'no pictures', but they did... so we couldn't. :(

I thought that was a lie about toshiya having acne. Someone on Batsu said that was the reason why you couldn't take pictures was because of toshiya having acne XD. Was it the whole band you could meet this time or just die and toshiya?

toshiya was looking good! with those tight jeans on....oh but we were talking about his face! hmm i didn't notice anything off. but yeah he fell after the last song (IIID empire) he had switched sides with die and was coming back to his normal post and then he just disappeared and then was lying ont he ground. O_o

i felt bad...i mean he didn't get hurt but still....and then some dumb chick laughed and pointed....:angryfire

and they really don't want people to take pics anymore, course people still did. everytime someone took a pic the crew would pop up in the way, blocking views and all. they might change some rules later if its that bad.

well, here in Oklahoma, radio station The KATT is giving away backstage passes to KATT-fest, which Dir en grey are scheduled to attend. that makes me believe that there are passes to at least some of the shows.

Was it the whole band you could meet this time or just die and toshiya?

I think that for a long time they have a 'no picture' rule, it's normal for them... I'm not sure of the reason, but it's not so surprising really.

Poor Toshiya... usually on falling down, the embarrassment is worse than the pain. :giggle:

well, i buy my tickets at FYE music store, they have Ticketmaster there...
all you have to do is ask for one, but they cost a good 300 dollars or more, depending on the venue i think..you only get a certain time slot to see them, and i don't think photos are aloud but you do get to meet them and talk with them awhile, which is pretty cool. but i need to be able to eat, so i didnt buy the pass. lol.

well, you -could- try asking them.... they are human, you know..... :okashii: sorry, but that is one thing i find extremely annoying... when people act like celebrities can't be talked to like normal people. they're only gods when they are on stage or in front of a camera. the rest of the time, they are just normal people with jobs that they enjoy. *crosses arms* sorry, but it REALLY irritates me... :gomen:

it's more like, if you even get the chance to talk to them in the first place [because that's hard enough], sure you just ask them but that doesnt mean you'll get their permission. a lot of the time, management has control of that.

Tomino: why don't you just make 4 bracelets, each with two names on it? you could put Ruki/Kyo, Die/Aoi, Kaoru/Uruha, Reita/Toshiya, and Shinya/Kai. that way, you have it set so that they are matches in band position, and you can get both bands taken care of. ^.^ just a sugestion.

Hi,
I thought you may enjoy these, some photos I took of the Dir en Grey concert at Rock im Park.
I should warn you that the photos are very VERY crappy. I (along with my camera in my pocket) was thrown in the lake a little bit earlier, so I was quite surprised that it still managed to take some photos.
It died 20 min after deg stopped playing..

Kaoru was in front of me, so it was easier to take photos of him. I don稚 know how to explain it but he seemed nicer (=more friendly) that what I expected him to be... Now I like him more.

Because of the Kyo-magnet I nearly forgot Shinya ( although I was very interested in seeing him play...... I like drumms.:wave: ). He was awesome on the second chorus of The Final, I remembered him and tried to get a photo.... Zoom was not working.

I hope it comes out at the end of the year, in some interviews i've found that people have translated and posted on livejournal kaoru has mentioned something about them working on a new album and some people who I talked to in their reports from the august 1st japanese concert have said something about kyo talking about looking for a new album soon. Nana007 posted her report of the concerts and she posted about it in there.

I've been into Diru for about 3 months so far and I'm already quite obsessive. xD

About the new album release... To me it sounds a little bit too early for it to be released at the end of this year, the beginning of next year sounds more right to me.
The songwriting might be finished, or at least most of it seeing as they have got at least 3 new songs. But I don't think they've recorded any other material than Clever Sleazoid, Ryojoku no ame and probably the unknown song that was played at I think Columbiahalle, Berlin 2006.

I understand that Dir en Grey wanted to give up visual-kei, it's just I thought that Die would keep his hair red because it always seemed like it was his signature.

Actually it's not too early for them to release an album, When their not touring they can be working on an album. They could of recorded from the end of march up until they went to germany in may and then from when they returned to japan in June until they left for the US in August. More then likely Clever Sleazoid and Ryoujoku no Ame will be on the album, then they played 4-5 new songs at the august 1st show. You also get the song they played in the US and germany (if it wasn't played at the august 1st show and they weren't the same song) So you have 8-9 songs and then you don't even know how many other songs they have, but haven't played.

Then when they finish off with the FVT they'll be back in japan and have some time to record more songs and have the album finished up by November or December. I'm saying it'll be out by December and available for preorder sometime in November. That's just by all the recording time they'll have if they haven't already finished up recording the album. I'm not saying the album will be out in December, but it's a possibility.

If it's because their single was just released in July it's not too early to release an album, Rentrer en soi released a single and then a few months later released an album.

Northern Nomad: i have to agree with Riyko on the album release. and with them touring in a foreign country, and one where they aren't really considered 'mainstream', it will be rather easy for them to focus on getting music written for songs, and melodies planned for lyrics, and to work on getting a playlist set up for when they are recording the album, if they haven't completed it yet. i also have to agree with Riyko in that Diru may have already gotten everything recorded, and just haven't performed all of the songs, or released the album. it definately wouldn't be too soon to release a new album. i've even heard of some bands releasing a single and album at the same time. i don't remember who any of them were off the top of my head, but i know for a fact that there have been bands to do it.

Darshari: it is still red, just not as noticable in that pic. if you look at other pics from the same, or surrounding, show(s), you will see that his hair is still red. it's more noticed in other pics. and yes, Die did keep his red hair. now it's half and half, but it still has red. ^.^ ... o.o; ... oh... you already came to that conclusion.... <.<;;; sorry~! :relief:

I asked because people are saying that FWA can't do sh*t about people posting the pictures from the FVT on forums. That may be the case, but their still going against what the band wants and against some of the venues rules to take pictures. =/ I don't care if they are posting them on forums, but it could also keep diru from coming back to North America if people are doing that.

If that doesn't make any sense please don't put any mind to me. I miss my friend really badly and want to see him and talk to him again.

Riyko: i see where you are coming from, but... it's not so much the concert pictures that they have a problem with, hell, even their fans in Japan take pictures of the lives. it's more of a problem when people take unpermitted pictures when they aren't on stage.... like, M&G for example. i'm sure it wouldn't have been a problem if people had not gotten line, saw the guys, and just took pictures without so much as asking them. it was, and is, disrespectful.. amoung other things.

I agree with you and that is very disrespectful. If I wanted pictures of them i'd ask for pictures seriously. I'd be told no, but it's better to ask.

Riyko: actually, you'd be more likely to get a 'yes' if you go so far as to ask them. most bands are very appreciative of people who ask them for pics, rather than just taking them. now, getting their tour managers and producers to say 'yes' is a whole other story. -that- is where you have difficulties.
I think if you got direct permission from the band member themself then the management couldn't do anything, but with Diru even if the member said yes the manager would say no >_<

yeah... damn their manager! <.<; j/k.... hmm... i've heard rumors that Kaoru is trying to take over management for them. i can see where it would make some things easier, but at the same time, it could pose more problems, particularly with the touring aspect. :souka: has anyone heard anything on that? i've also heard that he's taken on production for their albums, but that happened in 04 while they were recording the Vulgar album. if both are true, he may be taking on a little much for one time... especially when they are taken on so quickly. o.O; and... i'm rambling... end this here... but, seriously, has anyone heard anything on either of those?

For how long have you played guitar?
Yes, I play bass. I can play drums and a bit of guitar as well but I'll try to focus on bass furthermore. Though I feel the need to be good at other instruments, especially guitar, because I write my own songs and only power chords isn't enough for my part, I prefer it in the more complicated way.
The songs I've so far decided to learn on bass are Bottom of the death valley, Kasumi and Rasetsukoku. None of them are easy in my opinion... And that's the way it should be! xD I even got a blister on my finger from trying to play the verse in Rasetsukoku and the intro in Bottom of the death valley is very tricky because of my small hands and short fingers. =____= Oh well...

By the way, I bumped into this pic earlier today xD you've probably seen it before I suppose. ^^

boobiebutt: (*giggles*) ummm i to got to the pavilion by 11, since the doors opened at 12. dunno how it is where you're going. my friend insisted that we didn't need to be there that early, since there wasn't that many people waiting in line, but like ten minutes later, i couldn't see where it ended. then again this was like her second concert, so what did she know?
as soon as i got in i went straight to buy a cd to get my wristband, and then i found my spot in the pit.

yeah, i pretty much didn't move the whole time, fortunately there was a gap on the left side, the other side was already full with people not budging until they saw deftones. my aim was to be on the left cause of kaoru and toshiya, lol.

Not banned from the tour, but they got banned from The Joint a venue in Las Vegas. And because its owned by Hard Rock they might have trouble playing at any other Hard Rock owned venues.

It's all up to the venue and if they allow camera's in or not. So you have to check with the venues camera policies.

as for the band looking tired: they probably haven't quite adjusted to the new sleeping patterns that they have had to take on since the 3rd.... i mean, they had the first live in this tour the next afternoon, so that wouldn't really leave much time to get well rested before it. and, i'm sure that what little time off they get, they are wanting to spend looking around. i mean, if the show starts at 1:30 in the afternoon, it'd seem like 3:30 in the morning to them, because of the time change and that second time is what they are used to when we are used to the first. <.<;;.... and i'm ranting.... sorry~! :gomen:

mayhaps the venues should find out what they should expect -before- a band is scheduled to play on their stages... and besides, diru have it mentioned in the rights contract that blood is a factor for their shows. almost any band who incorporates blood in live performances are required to state it in the contract that is signed by the venue management. i don't see why Hard Rock is complaining.

I hadn't known there was a rumour they didn't want to go back to the US, but whatever; it's their decision. Although IMO the American fans would at least deserve a small explanation from the band's management.

I guess such a thing would be largely the province of their management anyway; if they thought there was enough money in it to be worthwhile I reckon they'd try to persuade the bandmembers to go back even if they didn't want to; and if the bandmembers wanted to but the management disagreed they'd probably refuse them. ~_~ Gahh, complex. >< All the American fans can really do is carry on supporting them by buying their CDs and merch so that they can get a good idea of the size of the fanbase. ^^

i spoke to harry at the houston show, and he told me the band already felt like they've been on the road for a whole month, and it was only the 3rd show so far! they're gonna need a big ol' vacation after this.....

I find it a tad too amusing that people are relating the problem as to why Diru doesn't seem to be touring Asia (outside of Japan) with the photo issue. XD;
Firstly, the photo rule thing was really reeeally strict then and rarely any pics get out at all. Well, compared to the European shows, it's really really rare. And most of the photos that were spread around the internet later were actually taken from magazines and such.

The main problem causing them to not want to tour Asia again, or at least not anytime soon, would be due to venue and administration problems. There were a lot of those during their Asia tour. The issue at Shanghai Ark was really DEADLY. And the fans in Taiwan and Korea are really scary when it comes to following them around XD;;; but that wouldn't be the MAIN problem. Like I said, the main problem has to do with the administration, venues, etc etc.

Their European tour in 2005 caused TONS of photos to be spreaded around like WHOA. Even photos of Die, Shinya and Toshiya randomly shopping around were pretty widely-spreaded. But they jump right onto the boat when it comes to performing in Germany this year anyways. Do I even have to mention they're huge public events at that? Where photos AND videos can be taken without any restriction at all, much less for spreading them all over the internet?

Also, they're well aware of the photos and such that were spreaded around widely and rapidly from their US shows back in March. Toshiya even had to make some sort of an apology in his section in Haiiro no Ginka (-_- Toshiya you silly little cute thing... -_-) to fans who'd seen the photo of him, as well as the other members, taken with the iAmerica interviewer. He apologised for shocking them with his ojisan look. ^^; (silly Toshiya -__- *glomps him*)
That was way back in March/April. And where are they touring again now? Hmm?

If they feel that they have to seriously consider touring US again, I really doubt the photo thing would be the biggest cause. It'll be an itch or a slight stink, but it won't be the main reason why they're reconsidering touring the US.

Hell, it'd actually be a whooole lot easier if the problem is just about photos and whatnot. But it's not. And that's mostly why many Diru fans in Asia have pretty much given up and decided to just work hard on going to see them in Japan instead >.> (other than because it really kick much more *** there ._.)

Other than that... there's also another thing..
Photos from their previous shows/tours were posted -rather- obscurely. Sure, fans seem to be able to see them easily everywhere but they're not as blatantly obvious and eye-catching. Erh, well some are. But the recent posts and such on official forums and BBS are really blatant and downright obnoxious. = =;;; And I'm not even just talking about posts WITH photos. There're many retarded entries about the photo rules and such. People are BLOWING things up.

I love Diru. I love photos. I love practically anything that keeps me updated on Diru, be it photos, videos, interviews or live reports. It's a stab straight to the heart practically every Diru fan would have to endure. The "ouch" from wanting to share and wanting to be shared with, while knowing we're actually breaking one of the rules/wishes of the Diru members. We really don't want to disrespect the band. At least, I believe not one Diru fan would. But it's in us to want to be really -following- Diru, via whichever means available.

Sure, we can ignore it all and just wait for their official goods to come out with their FVT stuffs, which hopefully would be on some aknot goods or something. (since from the past experience, it seems unlikely of them to sell things like that as public official goods) But we'll still be fidgety and all. At least, for me, I will. That's why I keep searching everywhere like a mofo to get myself updated on what's going on with Diru on the FVT.

But, oh hey, trading of aknot stuffs to non-aknot members is against their rules and wishes too. Ahaha. So let's just all be Diru fans who can't be as updated as possible. =D Oh yea.

I guess.. what I'm saying is.. to just.. KEEP IT DOWN. Sharing amongst ourselves without being obnoxious and blatantly sticking to the band's face won't do that much harm.

Anyway, your reasoning is probably right because it's true that there are plenty of pics of them from their previous European concerts and them in the States last year. (It seems to be more 'pics with fans' that Diru don't really do... whether that's their choice or their management's I have no idea... I had an impression it had to do with the rabidness of fans in Japan but whether that's true or not I don't know... A girl on Batsu randomly met Die after a gig and he let her and her friend take pics with him, so on a personal level it would seem that he, at least, doesn't mind. :) )

No I'm saying they can't do anything about the pics, because its technically not against the rules. The TOUR and the VENUE allow pics to be taken. Its just that Dir en grey/the Management has a rule against the pics. But since its not Dir en grey's Tour Dir en grey's rules don't count. So all they can do is request that pictures not be taken. But they really can't do anything about it.
But my thing is respect their wishes. Everybody takes "Dir en grey won't come back to America" as an empty threat. But the thing is it's not. Ever wondered why Dir en grey never went back to Asia (China, Hongkong, Taiwan...) after they toured there?
I never thought about why they didn't go back there, because i knew LOL!! that's why the whole thing about people taking the -threat- lightly really pisses me off, because i don't think i should have to go all the way to japan just to see them, even though i plan on living there anyway. it's just the principle of the thing.

oh, but in contradiction to what i just said, i never saw photos from their previous us tour. anyone want to share? LOL! 8D

I won't say, "Hell no, don't post FVT Diru pics at all, otherwise you're just a disrespectful fan! Shame on you!", cos that will be plain hypocritic of me. But I'm not going to force anyone into thinking sharing their pics is heroic or something either. To share publicly or not, it's still their choice and I have no right to judge them or their decisions.

But I do believe the panic level regarding the FVT pics is going a tad too crazy = =; I guess, one could say my believe is, "Don't over-panic, please still post the photos if you've intended to share them in the first place. But don't make it so damn obvious and loud. Just keep it down and all."

I would consider starting a brand new thread at an official forum or starting an entry at a really popular forum/community just to post a megaload of their FVT Diru pics as something that's too blatant and loud. (And preferably not spreading around too many photos of the Diru members taking individual shots with fans, etc =X)

Actually, there are photos of member/s of Diru taken individually with fans and such in Japan. It's just that they aren't as blatantly posted. Plus, most non-Japanese fans won't know exactly where to stalk when it comes to Japanese sites? ._.
Also, Japanese fans just generally don't have the habit of posting photos like that online. (They'll just keep it to themselves, framed, laminated and all) ^^;

My opinion is that I'm against all the videos and pics that the "fans" take.. What I mean is that, picture yourself into Dirus position.. What would you say if you didn't want any pictures taken and still your "fans" would do that? I would be pissed XD So i think its pretty idiotic..

It would totally suck if they didn't want to come to America anymore but then again it works both ways. Yes American vendors should have watched and noted how Diru acts in concert but shouldn't the band or their management have helped in the matter to? I mean Diru's kind of rock music isn't really as popular here as it is in Japan so vendors aren't really gonna be used to seeing the vocalist spitting out blood. And as for the whole picture thing, thats just going over the line by saying that they won't tour in a country just because their picture policy was violated, it's deeper than that. I wish the best for Diru 'cuz I love them and I hope they can get over whatever obsticle is keeping them from America.

And Yes the FVT "fans" are quite out of hand. I post rarely on the forums because its so full of spam, fangirlism and all that other crap.
And yes all the things we do Japanese fans do as well. But they don't go posting them ALL over the place like crazy. For them its something private and special for them. But in the U.S its like I just have to prove "blah blah" so I'm going to tell about it everywhere and post pictures everywhere its like a virtual contest to see who has the bigger penis.

And having been spending alot of time on 2ch recently. I just must say the Japanese fans are laughing at us.

Also even though politics and all that do play a part in them not going back into Asia, thats not just it. After the tour the even said in interviews that they felt disrespected and such about all the things happening to them there.

hmmm, I never knoew they had trouble in Asia, it sucks to hear how Diru is having trouble in the U.S. and Asia. I mean seeing as how they're a great band, you'd think people would pay them more repsect anyways, and also 'cuz they're humans with feelings and deserve to be treated that way. If people are gonna be violating their rules like that at least don't have picture contest. So yeah, I agree with you Nana007, because I just think this whole event shows just how closed minded people are these days in the world.

Well I really wouldn't say it was a problem in Asia, but they thought of the other Asian fans as very rude. And alot of different things happened to them on that tour. Like somefans had broke into Kyo's hotel room and left stuff. Others had found out Toshiya's Hotel room number and kept calling it all night. Stuff like that. The fans were chasing after the tour bus in cabs and other stuff like that.

That's a little overboard. Waiting outsite venues to see the members or taking some quick pics is one thing. But breaking and entering, prank calls, and stalking is just plain scary. No wonder why they don't want to go back. I didn't know they had to endure that type of stuff during their Asia tour.

that's why im really irritated with what people are doing in america, though i don't find a problem with taking some photos for personal memory and stuff, or sharing with a small group of people. i started reading some reviews, and i started thinking to myself "yeah this kind of spoils it for me" but then again, it got me really psyched up to go. everytime i listen to them and sing along i start crying or something and i know i'm gonna be bawling at the show. lol.

i have to say, i agree with everyone here... so far.... <.<; i mean, no one has started bashing them for not wanting to come back, yet. and, like i said before, i wouldn't blame them for not wanting to come back, if indeed it is the band's decision, because i'm sure they would have a good explaination for it, and would tell -someone- what that reason is. besides, from what i've seen, it's far better to see them in Japan than here in the states. for me, seeing them here, i feel so sorry for them because they are so used to seeing more people enjoying their music, and here, there are only a few people in the entire audience that even have half a clue who they are.

as for the asian fans: that is so messed up. and goes way beyond 'uncool'. i mean, sure, saying (jokingly) 'it would be funny to sneak in/call their hotel rooms,' or 'i'm following them across the country,' but to actually go so far as to do those things is flat out disgusting. and, what the hell was Toshiya doing answering the hotel phone? he had a cell phone. if it was anyone important, surely that would have been the number they would have called, not the hotel phone. this is not going to come out the way i want, but... him answering the phone was asking for problems, especially after the first fan called. <.<; like i said, not how i wanted it to come out, but i can't really think of a better way to word that. moving on.... the whole following them across the country, they should have gotten pictures of the vehicles in different places, that weren't the venues, places that they were at on their spare time, and they had been followed to, and then had management request the fans to stop following them. when that didn't work, turn the images into the local police, and let them deal with the 'stalkers'. :haihai: at least, that is what i would have done.... :okashii: they make enough money, they would have been able to pay the police to do something effective to tend to the problem without harming the fans. anyway, i'm ranting here, so don't pay any mind to what i'm saying if you disagree with it.

Kagura: sadly, it's because they are such a great band that they don't deserve any respect in the eyes of so many "fans". if they were nobodies, it would not be a big deal to see them or hear them play, so they would just be normal people, and would not amount to a whole lot. but, their fame and popularity has condemned them to disrespect by so many. the fact that they are practically gods on the stage and on camera, and damned them to be considered inhuman even when they are trying to be normal people like you or me. that, is percisly why i think of them as being the same as everyone else when they are not activly working. if i were to come across them walking down the street (yeah, right), i would think of them as just another person. if they look lost, i may try to point them in the right direction, but i would not go so far as to request anything of them, or to gape, or squeal, hyperventilate, or bounce. there would be no need to draw attention to them, and i'm sure they would not want said attention drawn to them. it is small things that seem to matter most to celebrities, especially musicians, and the small gesture of not freaking out and going fangirly when you see them on the street actually means alot to them. this is more true for those ones who are able to realize that their work is just that... a job, not their entire life. the ones who know that not every little thing they do is based on their jobs.

hm yes photos shouldn't be posted on the internet. it's why the band avoid getting photos taken. i heard from a japanese friend of mine that in japan photos are not allowed or taboo(?). However, to a lot of the fans it's their first show, and getting out of hands would be expected. To some of them, it might be their only chance to see Diru, so ya they're taking out whatever they got. and about the japanese fans laughing... haven't they always laughed at north america? :D

He fell during the first song (saku), hit his head, was stunned for a minute (some say he was on the ground for about 1 minute), roadies came out. He shakily finished the show (still good show but he kept dazing in and out they say). Is rushed to the hospital via ambulance and several fans say they saw him being strapped to a board. Goes to hospital a few hrs later, the fans say he comes back to the hospital waves to them from the tour bus And thats all.
mhm i was AT that show. the roadie didnt tape the box he was standing on properly and so he fell backwards. i didnt know if it was one of those things where he falls down on purpose until the roadies came out. when he stood up he was really wobbly... i really appreciated him finishing the show, it was great. i didn't see him getting sent, or came back from the hospital tho D: diidn't come out early enough or stay that late...

Well from what I've been told like right after his set, there was an ambulance waiting. And you could see all the other band members (- Kaoru) around the ambulance and he was strapped down to a board and taken to hospital.

as for following dir en grey around, i know this is a very very VERY VERY..VERY SLIM possibility, but eventually i want to do a photoshoot of them. how would this happen, you ask? well i do photography and eventually i want to work for a magazine or maybe even start my own for the states, or even for wherever else though it'd be in english. i can't find any actual jrock or j-fashion mags for the states or any in english, its sort of annoying. and it'd be great to do that some day....i wouldn't want to do the same -repetetive- shots of kids in the street in their clothes. like the whole "stand for me, and look like you're not having fun at all"..it'd be more like..i wasn't even there, just doing what i was doing with my camera...i sort of want to photograph homeless people o___O. ahah. i plan on living in japan and even if that doesnt happen, i'd still go there so often it would be like a second home haha. :3

So I saw Dir en grey in Hartford, Connecticut yesterday.

Awesome!!!

I got anxious when they rolled Shinya's drum kit out, I got even more antsy when they started pulling up the banner, the excitement built even more when Kyo's red box was brought out... but when G.D.S. started playing... I pretty much just exploded. The set was amazing, and I couldn't believe how great Kyo's voice sounded. Given the quality of his vocals in the lives on the singles for "Clever Sleazoid" and "Ryoujoku no ame," I wasn't expecting top quality, but he nailed every last scream and high note. And -- SHOCK! -- he even sang almost all of the lyrics! Well, save for when he starts clawing inside his mouth during "Kodoku ni shisu, yue ni kodoku." And they played "Audience Killer Loop," which I wasn't expecting. That made me happy since it's one of my favourites off Vulgar. Also, "Ryoujoku no ame" sounded incredible live. I was afraid a song with so many gorgeous melodic subtleties wouldn't translate well to a live performance, but they nailed all of it. It gave me goosebumps from head to toe.

And, yes, the bucket is a wonderful sight to see. Just the idea of this little man screaming with a bucket over his head is delightful.

So, I bought a copy of Vulgar at the venue (cos the copy I had is one of those evil bootlegs from Miya Records) and my friend bought Six Ugly so we could meet two of the guys. After Diru's set, we went to get in line to meet them and I was shocked at how many people there were in line. I know they have a decent following in the U.S., but wow! I was excited that there were so many adoring fans there.

So, at my show, we got to meet Kaoru and Die. The closer we got to them, the more jittery I got until, finally, I was face to face with them and shaking their hands. I told myself that I would ramble off a little greeting to them in Japanese, but I couldn't get anything out; all I did was give each of them a little nod/bow when I shook their hands. They both gave me a reassuring nod back, and the look in their eyes was incredibly sincere; you could see the appreciation they had for our support even though they couldn't express it in our language.

And, heh... they were so cute and little. I always forget how dainty they are because I always see them on stage rocking out and making lots of big noise.

You know, I always used to roll my eyes whenever girls would get all squealy over Dir en grey. I mean, I can understand the excitement because I love the band to death and they're one of my absolute favourites, but I just couldn't understand why the girl fans would scream and jump for them like hyper little bunnies. But yesterday happened, and I completely understood. I didn't actually squeal and bounce, but I sure did on the inside. I was all smiles.

Which is particularly noteworthy what with me being a guy and all.

And yea I heard the Jones Beach venue was cancelled and Diru didn't play. OMG that was the venue I would have went to if I stayed at home. I would have been so so disappointed!

But tomorrow they are playing at Saratoga which is 40 min away from my school and I can't go because I have classes. That makes me so sad especially after hearing that great report from Saishu. But hopefully one day I can go to a show dedicated only to Diru. (truthfully I wouldn't have been happy waiting through all the bands in FVT until Diru came on)

Nah, don't worry, Precious, I'm not offended. I may be a guy but I'm completely comfortable enough with myself to say how much I love those guys. And, hey, even I have to admit that they're almost abnormally beautiful. You know how you see someone really beautiful on TV or in movies and you figure they can't really look like that in person? Honestly, no exaggeration, Kaoru and Die look no different up close and in person than they do in any of their recent videos and DVDs.

And I didn't bother with the first few bands, either. Diru went on just a little after 5pm, so we got there at 4pm just so we could have enough to time to buy a CD, get the wristband, and then find our seats. Diru was the reason why I went to the show, so I wasn't going to torture myself by sitting thru a bunch of mediocre bands while waiting for them.

Flyleaf was playing while we waited in line to meet Kaoru and Die. We stayed for Stone Sour and Deftones (Stone Sour was pretty good, but Deftones had their sound so loud that we couldn't make anything out; it was disappointing) and then left after that.

Yeah, that's right, we didn't stay for Korn. The headlining band.

Oh well!

aw, and i was surprised to see that you are a guy at the end of that report, hahaha. i don't pay attention to the info under the avatar, sorry. i'm so excited about seeing them live that when i listen to anything and sing along to it, i start crying because i am imagining their performance and me singing along.

i want to write them each a letter of gratitude and such...but i don't know how well they can read english, and i have no one to help me with the japanese -____- but then again i might just do it and give it to them whether or not they can read it. it's more for myself than anything, you know? i have so much to say to them...and it's none of that repetetive "gosh you guys are so great and hot tee hee" crap...yet, i still want them to know what i have to say. i hope maybe someone can read it to them, if they can't read it themselves. .____. i need to do this. the only thing in my head lately is what i want to say in my letters, and there's so muchhh >< i'm freakin' crying now just thinking about it .__.

Hahaha DBSK. For some reason no matter how nice their voices sound, the music just makes me want to bleh* when it's too poppy or generic. I think that's why I started listening to JRock and other types of rock. Pop is alright in small doses. If I had to listen to it all day I will go insane. (ex. the new Danity Kane song made me want to rip my ears off)

This is how I think of it, it's all just rumored unless it appears on Diru's offical webpage, FWA or Warcon (for the US and Canada). yes, that style does look good on him. sometimes i catch myself thinking he should not have cut his hair in the first place, but then i remember that he doesn't look bad with short hair either.... and i love him either way! :blush:
hmm.. in the raison d'etre PV, it sorta looks like one side is long while the other is short..... kinda..... <.<;

and.... Dai doesn't look 'old', so... i mean, i know what you mean, but i honestly can't say that i notice a difference in his apparent age from this pic and the more recent ones.... i don't notice the difference in any of their apparent ages... well, Kaoru is starting to show the signs of too much stress, but other than that, they all look the same... the only thing that changed was their styles and hair..... <.<; sorry, i know how stupid that seems, but... *sighs*... nevermind, i'll just end this now... before i get into something i can't get out of.....

^ well their live pics they all look so tired and pale lol. Also in those pics they don't have make up and such so its much more real. And hey, it has been 10 years since they formed so I wouldn't expect them to stay young forever. But they still give off such a great energy. Probably even more so now than before.

And yea in the raison d'etre PV Die's hair did look one sided but I kind of liked it. Hehehe.

You know how ALOT of jrockers smoke? Imagine how much more YOUNGER they would look if they didn't i.e. HYDE, he would look like he's 16 or something! At least I think so XD

So did anyone (besides Precious) actually read the article? And if so what was your thoughts about it?

I liked it and thought it was very good. I really like how they did somewhat acknowledge the VK stuff, even if they really haven't VK for the past 2 years now. I thought it was ok.

^I thought Die and Toshiya's answers were really good. I guess now I feel I know more about they think about the tour and their reasons for joining. And about the whole VK thing, I think it's right of them to try to get away from that and move on. I mean, people keep pigeon holing them into the whole "visual keiness" when that's not what they're about anymore. And like the article said, they left all their costumes behind and now they're just using their music and performances to capture people's attentions. I like it!

i read it..... 3 times. <.<; i really enjoyed it. i also found it interesting that they (Warcon) are wanting to set up deals with several JRock bands. i honestly don't blame the band for their thoughts on re-recording the old songs with English lyrics. it's better that way. *nods* i'm afraid that if they did, it would completely ruin the songs. i mean, don't get me wrong, the band could probably pull off getting the English lyrics written so that those of us who are naturally English speakers could understand them, but, have any of you actually tried reading the English lyrics provided in his lyric books to the same tempo/melody that he uses in the Japanese song? it's d*mn near impossible! they would have to even get new music for some of the songs. i can't think of any right off the top of my head, but i know that there are some. anyway, next thing.... Go Toshiya for saying that he doesn't want them to be associated strictly with anime and manga fans. it's okay if their fans are also fans to anime and manga, just.. they want to be liked for their musical ability, not because they are Japanese, and so are anime and manga. and.... why would Die think we (Americans) would 'throw PET bottles at' them??? we're not all -that- bad.... ;.; i mean, at most outdoor concerts, which is pretty much what FV consists of, the majority of American concert goers are too drunk or high to even notice what the band on stage is doing or saying to begin with, so how would they be able to throw anything at them? i mean, sure, they could try, but they would be off by quite a bit. though, i believe in OKC, someone with a VIP pass actually threw an unopened beer at Toshiya. it didn't hit him, and i think it was more -to- than -at-. i had looked over there to take a pic, and saw this random beer flying toward Toshiya's place. he was more toward front-center of the stage at the time. and, yes, Nana, it was a good thing that they brought up the VK. even though they have officially been out of VK since late 01/early 02, that label is still following them around. i'd imagine it is rather irritating for them. in fact, i've stopped referring to them as ever having been in VK, unless i'm trying to make a point about Shinya's and Toshiya's more feminine appearances. basically, if someone says that they "have to be a woman" based simply on one of their more recent pics (ie 2004), i try to explain that they are men, and then i show them a pic of the band when they were VK, and explain that it is when they were and that they no longer are, and then have them look at the first pic again... usually, they can see them all as men that time, but if not, then i pull out my Cure mag. and show them a female JRocker... that usually gets some pretty interesting resposes.
