hopefully they'll get a chance to rest from all of the touring and traveling they've been doing, they need it.
You honestly think they get tired from touring?
To be brutally honest, they don't tour near as much as most bands do.
does anyone know if they'll have any autograph session for their up coming tour?
i don't want to miss the chance to get them to sign my diru collection......

I never said they get tired from touring, just that they should take a break to get some time to themselfs from all of the touring they've been doing lately so they get a break after their tour in March in Japan. Performing and flying wears you out and if your flying alot like they do jet lag comes really easy, it's harder on their bodys because their getting older.
Sure other bands do tour more then them, but alot of those bands are younger bands and can handle it.
daki
I doubt they'll be doing an autograph session at any of the shows.

Wiltern has sold out. I'm terribly excited! This is their first tour as the headlining band in this part of the world and they are selling out venues. This means they have a fan base here (other than us totally dedicated ones) and they will come back! Plus I'm excited for the whole Japanese bands making their mark here. I think Diru may be opening some doors. It's brilliant!

one can only hope that doors are being opened.
Wiltern sold out? cool.
I agree, Riyko, just because they aren't touring as much as other bands, it doesn't mean that they don't need a break every once in a while... to be able to spend time to themselves in their own homes, living from hotel to hotel is not always fun, nor is it healthy.

They put up a clip of the album version of Ryoujoku no Ame on the OHP. The bass line is even more kick *** and Kyo sings in a lower pitch. It's pretty awesome.

Holy crap!
I knew about them re-recording Clever Sleazoid, but I didn't expect them to redo Ryoujoku no Ame as well. Unbelieveable... Kyo is actually... enunciating his words in this version!

Incorrect. Just check Ticketmaster.
There are still plently left in the mezzanine section.
What has actually sold out are Toronto and now Atlanta.
The official Myspace (actually is... linked from their American label site) has it listed as "Sold Out". Maybe the mezzanine is considered really bad seats! Still, Atlanta and Toronto have and I'm excited nonetheless!

I really do like the remake although I liked Kyo's singing in the single version too.

I've got to stop listening to the clips from the new album, it only makes me want it more, and NOW. And truth be told I'm not the most patient person when it comes to things like this.
By the way Saishu thanks for telling me about Ryoujoku no Ame on Saturday... yeah...

Are you talking about the european release that's coming out on 3/2/07? I think it's neat that their releasing all of their new singles and cd's internationally, yet I will still always buy the japanese release XD

SO....apparently some lucky people can meet Dir en grey
http://warconent.com/news.php?id=124
if you buy the presale album before the american release date you might be able to meet the band. On the 19th whoever is at that show will get a free copy of The Marrow of a Bone (US release i'm assuming)

^ I think the Warcon page said all venues up to Dallas..... :souka:
It's all very confusing but it seems that they will do it at every show until the 20th....and only a few randomly selected people who bought the pre-sale album will meet the band.
so they should have finished their first show by now.....and its their 10 year anni. So Happy 10 Year Anniversary to Dir en grey! :cracker: :singer:
^ The m&g is for every show up to Dallas, except for Toronto. But that's because there's no FYE in Canada.

Kind of a Live Report
nward Scream Tour 07
So tonight was the kick off of Inward Scream's U.S tour. And I must say it was very nice. Not really a live report...more like random ramblings.
We (me and my friend Danielle) got there at 11 and met up with Polly and Alwin and theri friends. We were like 15th in line, so were guaranteed front row. We ate we waited...Danielle and I went to her car and took an hour nap we ate and waited some more. Finally they let us in. I ran to Die's side and got front row.
So after an hour the opening band comes on. Blead the Dream...EMO. Fair to Midland...really good music but the vocalists antics got on my nerves.
Then came Dir en grey. They opened up with G.D.S then a new song. I don't do setlists, but here are the songs I remember.
Mr.Newsman
C
Saku
Clever Sleazoid (last song)
Ryoujoku no ame
Agitated Screams of Maggots
Obscure
Shokubeni
IIID Empire
Dead Tree
The Final
A couple of new songs and some other WTD songs that I never remember the titles of. One of which he changed the lyrics to like he did in Japan. In one song Shinya had this really nice drum solo. Their are other Details but I am seriously too tired to recall.
As for the Members. Kaoru was wearing all black. He seemed really active but in all honestly I looked his way 3 times. During the encore he came to Dies side and did the I am a rockstar, love me pose and stuff. Toshiya was super bouncy like all over the place. He came on our side only once. but on his side he was allways moving. Kyo was...Kyo. He fish hooked, he cut himself, he threw his stand, he did the new crying/screaming thing he introduced in Japan. Shinya was...well AWESOME but then Shinya is allways AWESOME. Die was kind of dead. He didnt move, he didnt interact with the audience at all until the encore where he must have had some kind of expresso shot during the break because he came back full of energy.
After the show we went to an Izakaya. I had some Soba, Banana Tempura, and Onigiri. Then we came back to my friends house and I typed this and I will now go to sleep as I have to wake up early tommorow to go to Orlando.

Feb 3, 2007, 21:35
Ok so today was the 2nd night of Inward Scream tour 07 and also Dir en grey’s 10th anniversary. Although in all honesty you would not think it. They didn’t do anything special or any old songs. It was even THE EXACT SAME SETLIST AS LAST NIGHT, but they had a lot more energy than they did last night which was a bonus. Also it’s a good excuse for me to not have to rack my mind trying to do a setlist...not that I ever do have an actual setlist on any of my live reports (^_^);;.
So we got to the concert venue kind of late as we woke up late and had some errands to run before leaving for Orlando. It’s a 3.5 hour drive from my friends house to Orlando. We got to the venue around 4:30. We found M who was already in the line. We went to eat at the HOB restuarant and then got in the line where M was, she was about the 60th group of people in line.
We decided early on in the line that we wanted to go for Balconey instead of the pit. Which later on we came to find was a good idea. So when they opened the doors we took our time and bought our merch as I didnt buy anything last night....although I am pissed because I lost the wristband I JUST bought tonight but oh well I will buy it a Baltimore. Also a new item of Merch that was not there yesterday was an OLD Dir en grey MANGA called Deadly Claris. Its written in Japanese so I cant read it but hopefully I can scan it one day and someone will a scanlation (Pretty Pretty Please). They were only selling the first volume. I don’t know if they will ever sell the second volume or if it even came out....it said the release date for volume 2 was 12/2003. Yea its JUST THAT OLD. But M never heard ANYTHING about it.
So we go upstairs and find a NICE spot on the Balcony the HOB is kind of cool in that the railing is a Bar and has stools and everything to sit upon. We had a very nice view of the stage. The 1st balcony was used as a VIP section so we had to go to the second balcony, You could still see well from there, and you still had a stool to sit on,
The opening bands came on, and as I said before EMO and SPAZZ. But Kaoru from Diru liked the second band Fair to Midland, because we can actually see him standing on the back of the stage watching and he was really rocking out to it too. He was there for at least half the set.
So then Dir come on with G.D.S and the crowd goes nuts. 2 girls had to be pulled out of the crowd in the 1ST SONG. With a Total of 13 girls being pulled out within the FIRST 5 songs and then a total of like 20+ girls being pulled out (YES I COUNTED at least up to the 20's then it got boring). Last night no one (at least on Die’s side was pulled out), having survived a Japanese pit I didnt it think it looked bad, but my friend is a HEAVY asthmatic and I know she would have had an asthma attack for sure.
Some interesting things about the members. Being at the top gave us a grade chance to see Shinya with no obstructions. If you are standing in the pit he is kind of hard to see. But from the balcony you can really see him go at the drums, and he is just AMAZING really and truly. Die had a Bury Your Dead shirt on, he didnt change it for the encore. He was also a lot more into it than he was last night, last night he was sortta kinda dead lol. Kaoru came to the front a few times and even stood in front of Kyo’s stand and played for a bit. Toshiya was like all over the place and at one time even slid across the stage on his knees playing the bass, that was really amusing to watch. Kyo fishhooked and scratched and cut, and during DEAD TREE, OMG he was playing with the fans like truly, at first he started cutting himself, then he started pulling his pants lower on his hips teasing us. And then he actually LOL no LIE turned around and hit and then picked his *** like he was picking out a wedgie...HILARIOUS like seriously I started laughing SO hard and I am not sure but I think M screamed out something like Slap that *** like a pony...? Did you M? She says it’s the first time he did that ever, he has played with his front man parts but never his butt. Also during Dead Tree like a whole bunch of crew and the band members from the other band were watching them. Like at least 10 people were on the stage watching. And Kyo also did the bucket thing and put it on his head and the bucket said Rape Me...and my thoughts was I am kind of against rape...but for Kyo you know if thats what you want....lolz
After the concert we went and walked around Downtown Disney and then left, and we arrived back to my friends house at like 3 in the morning. Everyone was so tired, its not a very long drive a 3.5 hours but we were so tired that we each drove 1 hour. I took first shift while they slept, then James, then Danielle finished it. And then bed. James was so tired he was supposed to go back to his house but he ended up spending the night at Danielles.

I was at the orlando show also I was infront of nana in line. I was in the pit in the front and people were pushing like crazy. I was completely crushed thankfully I was taller then everyone so I got air. By the end of the night I was soaking in sweat and not all of it was mines (eww) and I had peoples hair all over me and in my mouth. The first band was alot better then the second. The second band was god awful.
Nothing else to say that hasnt already been said except Kyo spat water on me twice. And Toshiya also threw water into the crowd that splashed on me.
Kyo semi did his little sexy dance but it wasnt as good as when I saw them at the Wiltern. No touching himself or anything.
The thing that truly sux about DEG now is no interaction between each other and you only get emotion from Kyo. I look at footage from their earlier days they would smile and interact with each other but its not like that anymore. Perhaps they should call it quits.
Precious4e
Feb 4, 2007, 03:41
^ LoL they've definitely become more serious throughout the years...but I still think they put on quite a show.
Nana: thanks for the info. I think i'll stay away from the pit then....I don't want to get messed up lol. And did you hear anything about buying the pre-sale and getting a chance to meet the band? Do you know how that works?
What exactly is being said in the chant for G.D.S.?
Also, a lot of the interacting they used to do was mostly fanservice. I think Dir en grey is leaving that sort of thing to bands like Gazette and Alice Nine.
Precious4e
Feb 4, 2007, 04:06
^ Very true. Though I would like to see them smile more hahaha.
Placebo
Feb 4, 2007, 04:08
Im not talking about fanservice. I am talking about like Kaoru and Die play back to back and smiling. Or Kaoru coming up to Kyo and Kyo putting the mic infront of Kaorus face so he can sing. Stuff like that doesnt happen anymore.
And something else I would like to address. I personally will never attend another DEG show atleast in this country. Why? Because this is the second show that I was treated like dirt. At the Wiltern everybody and their mother (literally) was skipping and nobody said anything. So I decided to follow. Guess who they called security on? Me because I was byself and everybody else who skipped was in a group so people decided not to bother them.
Now at Orlando I was sitting at a table and some guy who use to be on this forum and his buddies asked if they could sit I said find. They became fast friends with people at another table. So a group was formed security told us to line up. I decided to stay behind the people I was sitting at the table with. They made there way upfront I followed. Guess who got b*tched at? Me!
Apparently if you go to a DEG show by yourself you decide to be a follower you will be treated like garbage.
@Nana: !!!! I didn't know you were going to the orlando show!! I WAS THERE! GAH. I was in the pit though... And it was a good idea to stay in the balcony... cus people were asses. But my view of Kyo was nice. Epecially when he pulled down his pants a bit *_*
I didn't get to see Shinya until he came out to throw his drumsticks. Anyway though, amazing show.
was it just me... or did the lead singer of the first emo band stay on the side of the stage the whole time diru was out? It seemed like he was laughing or smiling at some points! And the drummer of the first band was scary... his eyes had a creepy look... whatever.
@Placebo: You were there too!? I was in the front as well! I was right in the middle though.
I saw interaction... yeah they didn't smile at eachother... but when Kyo was on his stand, Toshiya came up next to him and started rocking out. Seemed like they were interacting.. but maybe thats just me *shrug* There wasn't A LOT of interaction... which was sad.
I'm sorry you were treated badly. There were A LOT of skippers. It was getting me a bit angry. One of my friends actually confronted the girls that skipped and we ended up back in front. It seemed like a lot of it was just shuffling and confusion. I dunno.
@Saishu: I believe it's "Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill!" At least thats what we were chanting. Could be wrong though. Either way it really gets you pumped.
BTW! They set up the stage with the cutains OPEN! So we got to see roadies tuning and putting out stuff and taking off the drum tarp thing. Is that a normal thing for Dir en grey? Is it a Japanese thing? Or was it just a screw up? Just wondering...
I really liked it though. It gets the crowd excited and it was interesting to watch.
I bought the manga, it seems pretty cool. I had to laugh at the cover. I'm sure the red head is Die, but is the guy with black hair Toshiya or Kaoru? I say Toshiya, but my friend disagrees with me.
Im not talking about fanservice. I am talking about like Kaoru and Die play back to back and smiling. Or Kaoru coming up to Kyo and Kyo putting the mic infront of Kaorus face so he can sing. Stuff like that doesnt happen anymore.
Well I know they did things like that as recent as the It Withers and Withers tour, but I think what plays a major part in how the band acts is the music. For some reason, especially after hearing Marrow of a Bone, I just can't imagine the guys smiling or goofing around on stage anymore.

Feb 4, 2007, 06:37
I went in the balcony not because I didn't want to be in the pit, because I love the pit I really do. But because if I cant get 1st or 2nd row then I dont want to be in the pit. We got to the venue late, so we knew it wasnt possible to get to the front so we went to the balcony. I was front row at Ft. Laud and when I go to the Baltimore show I will probally be Front Row again. For New York I havent decided what time I want line up. But I think I might go in the Balcony.

I think it's amazing. It's heavier and his voice is different. Some ppl say "I don't like it, blah blah blah", but then again I love heavier things :)
But yeah, Marrow of a Bone is fantastic -- I already like it tons more than Withering to Death. My only complaint is that I still prefer the single version of Clever Sleazoid. I know they had to re-record it to match the production style of the album but... oh well. Still a great song.
Conceived Sorrow and Namamekashiki Ansoku, Tamerai ni Hohoemi are beautiful.
And I swear Kyo is saying "OOGA BOOGA BOOGA" at the end of Lie Buried with A Vengeance. It's absolutely hilarious even though it probably isn't supposed to be.

Dir's next single/pv is gonna be GRIEF??? Funny enough, I didn't think anyone else would like that song much ... but after a few listens it's my fav song on the album, lol. That high-pitch girlie scream is awesome...
The PV is alright, I like how you see the members more and I like that song even though it was the first time I heard it, it's still a good song.

^ The PV.....I thought was alright. Wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad. Once again i'm stuck trying to figure out the whole story behind the flashes of images of blood and cuts and....white stuff coming out of the girl's mouth that can be many things........

XD Those are so funny!!!
I just listened to 'The marrow of a bone', and I have to say: I'm really disappointed. It starts nice and mellow with 'Conceived Sorrow', but after that it's just the same repetitive garbage. Uninspired songs like 'Grief' and 'Lie Buried With A Vengeance' (I'm not even going to start with 'Clever Sleazoid', I haven't been able to take this song seriously since I've seen this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IT6U3npr_XI) video) are as bad and unoriginal as their titles might suggest. Don't get me wrong, I love this band. But I don't like 60 minutes of non-stop screaming accompanied by extremely rancid videoclips which show a worm having sexual intercouse with itself.
I just listened to 'The marrow of a bone', and I have to say: I'm really disappointed. It starts nice and mellow with 'Conceived Sorrow', but after that it's just the same repetitive garbage.
Conceived Sorrow isn't the only mellow song on there. Namamekashiki... is obviously another one, but The Pledge is also beautiful in a less than conventional way.
Did you only listen to it once? Try it again; all the screaming can be overwhelming at first, but the album is a lot more diverse than people think. The Soundgarden-like riffs in Rotting Root, the almost-funk feel of Disabled Complexes, the really-interesting-and-somewhat-strange guitar textures in Grief... this album has a nice variety. The problem is that Kyo's voice tends to overpower what's going on behind him, so you miss a lot of the subtleties in the music.
I don't know -- I love the album, and I think it's a step up from Withering to Death.

^Yea I definitely had to listen to it a few times before I got a feel for the music. Kyo's vocals were great but really overpowering at times. I'm getting used to it now. It's not exactly my favorite album but I still think its a good album.

@ daki: You lucky duck!
I like their new album, though I must say I tend to lean towards their old 'Yurameki' days, back when Die's hair was really red  But their music just seemed more... I'm not sure what the word is I'm looking for. I guess they had more spunk, and they seemed like they were enjoying what they were doing more than they do now.

I know, i'm a s ucker for extreme looks, fanservice and copious amounts of fake blood and violence.
And most neo-VK bands are a joke, they don't have that same "something" that bands like Diru had (and still have to a lesser extent).:(
Maybe they're just tired, they are getting old.
I mean 30 is, like, ancient.
Seriously though, all they need is an early night and a nice mug of Horlicks and i'm sure they'll be fine! :p
Dir en grey is better than ever.
Don't get me wrong, I like songs off of each album. It's just that I'd rather listen to "Grief" or the new version of "Clever Sleazoid" than anything off of Gauze.

sometimes , i miss the old days too. i bring out my Gauze copy once and in while ;their earlier music got me into them, and i'm not saying they're bad now. it's just me that who don't like too much screaming. also, i guses i like Vulgar too much to hope that they'll do something similar instead of what they're doing now?
Let's not forget that Kyo was screaming from the very beginning (remember Schwein no Isu? Zan? Rasetsukoku? Tsumi no Batsu?), it's just that he wasn't doing it that often.
As for their image, I would guess they'd rather people focus on the music and not how they look, which is understandable. I can't imagine they want to be thirty-years old and selling albums because girls think they're hot. There are a few visual kei bands out there that don't make good music, yet they're really popular because of the way they look. Dir en grey doesn't want to be a part of that anymore.
I went to a Dir en Grey concert this past monday, and I will admit, I didnt know what to expect.
I thought it wouldnt be as exciting as if they had their old look.
But I was wrong. It was amazing. And without all those distracting things to look at, I could really concentrate on listening to the music.
I think they are great, no matter how they choose to perform.

in my view Vulgar was one of their most complete album. many styles, but they were all well done. you got headbangers like shoukubeni/the IIID empire, u got a climpse of anger in R to the core, u got "ballad" in kazumi, amber... i like at least 90% of the songs in vulgar. and without too much screaming, songs actually seemed like songs. and they had more emotions in the songs back then, with so much screaming now, i'm not sure what they wanna express other than anger.

Exactly I mean back in the days sure the music was not heavy instrumentally speaking but the lyrics were still dark yet they still managed to crack a smile and have fun.
The only person who's on-stage personality is the same is Shinya. Shinya has the same "I don't know why I am here or where the hell I am" look on his face that he has had since La:Sadies.
When I spoke to some one during the concert I said it was kinda cool that a band lasted so long with all the original members and he said they really do not have a choice because of their contract.
So who knows but I believe its not the music thats making them serious its something else.

They're actually not allowed to do that.
So yeah.
Regular cameras = no-no.
Camera phones, = also a no-no, but they can't stop you from using one.
At the Boston show, they did check for cameras, but they didn't watch you to make sure you checked it in. However, the crowd was pretty tough at the front, so pictures would have been impossible either way. Oh, I did see people way in the back off the the bar areas with cameras taking pictures. No one stopped them. *shrugs*
I'm so sore... and I have the NY show to look forward to. ^_^;

My copy of the limited edition of The Marrow of a Bone just arrived.
Packaging is really nice -- simple and classy. Can't say I appreciate the book, though; it's all black pages with dark grey text. I can hardly read it.
I also got some weird plastic... sleeve thing with the album. What the heck is it?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/leroystanks/marrowthing.jpg
EDIT: Oh hey, check this out. Each song gets two pages in the booklet -- one page for the Japanese lyrics (when applicable) and the other page for the English translation. But guess what? The English is written BACKWARDS. Be prepared to feel completely silly reading in a mirror, but also remember that the text is still hard to read because of the print and colour.
Oh, Dir en grey, you silly little tricksters.

The English is written BACKWARDS. Be prepared to feel completely silly reading in a mirror, but also remember that the text is still hard to read because of the print and colour.
Oh, Dir en grey, you silly little tricksters.
Lucky for me I can read backwards. I wont look as silly as you!

god just got back from phili. that cold weather took a lot out of me. and now I'm sick but it was worth it! I got kaoru's water bottle and Kyo's sig on my poster. WOOT. I wish I could go to more. Seeing them is addicting. Has anyone heard about Deg being banned from ever performing at HoB Orlando again?

My friend told me it's a rumor going around o tofu and lj. Not confirmed, though I wouldn't be surprised. HoB is technically on disney property. And I doubt they liked some of the things Kyo did. *shrug* I dunno.

I guess that wouldn't surprise me. I suppose they don't want that at a place where three year olds want to see Mickey Mouse. But if I was a three year old... I'd rather go visit Kyo. Ahaha.

I don't think it's a HoB thing, I think it's a Disney thing. Even though HoB is technically seperate, it still is on Disney property. And rap is one thing, but Kyo cutting and fichhooking and wearing a Rape Me bucket is something else completely. It doesn't go with the whole "Have a magical day!" attitude.

I suppose. Well it's still a rumor at this point so we'll see what happens. Although why do I get the feeling that the guys would be amused if they were indeed banned? XD
i just got back from the toronto show. great show, despite the fact that i hated the crowd, moshing was way overly done. i was getting tired before dir en grey stepped on stage trying to hold my ground. these ppl just don't know when to mosh and when not. to be honest i was frustrated by these unnecessary moshing throughout the night.
i got there around 4:20pm but then my fds found their fds who were there earlier so we joined them. i was standing about 8-9 rows away from the fence near the stage, standing in the middle a little bit right of Kyo. so i basicallly got a good view of every member, esp Die whom i wanted to see.
anyways, setlist for the nite:
first 3 songs i've no idea, the song dont sound familiar so i guess its new, plus i was trying to hold my ground with so many ppl moshing. but my fd said they played mr.newsman.
then they played saku.
the rest is not in order: obscure, the final, shokubeni, ryujuku no ame, kodoku ni shi su..., aishisa ha fuhei nitsuki, Jesus Christ RnR, and a few other WTD songs... and i can't recall the rest for now.
ensocre started with C, then the IIID empire, then i forgot what it was, but the last song was clever sleazoid.
Encore was really good as the boys seemed really enjoying it. kaoru and toshiya took turns standing on this plantform right in front of the crowd on the left and ppl were padding them on the shin and stuff. kaoru and toshiya came up to the front and jammed with Die, they also went to the drums to jam with shinya. but too bad encore was short, i hoped it could be longer cuz it was the best part of the night. oh ya, i don't like the sound, kyo's voice is too low and the guitars were abit too loud. for quite a few songs i had to know what it is by listening to the guitars instead of hearing from kyo. setlist wise i'm a little disapointed, was hoping for at least kodou and higeki wa...and kazumi since someone said they played it in previous shows.
i also got my self a tour tshirt, but $40 is WAY more expensive than i expected.

that sucks! hopefully u can see them if they ever do a north america tour again?? cameras r not allowed though, not even disposable, or camera phones, they pull u out if they catch u ... though i did see a lot of people using camera phones anyways ...
i just got back from the toronto concert to!! it was awsome! i got there around 1pm, and found some random people and we all stuck together ... it got really cold near the end, thank god for lawblows!! i went in there so many times!!
i moved around during the actual concert, there was a lot of pushing! even way before deg came on, like daki said, it was really annoying ... in the beginning i was in the middle of the crowd, to the right side, but by the end i had been pushed around so much i ended up 3 rows from the front, right in front of kyo ... my head got hit so many times .. im suprised i dont have a huge headache!!! and my arms kill!!
the prices of everything is SO expensive!!! 40$for a tshirt!! its insane!! i got it anyways though, lol .. the one with the tour dates at the back, i think its version A ... i also got the wristband and dogtag ... they were both 15$ each ....
i waited after the show with some people to see them, but they never came out .. the bus just left all of a sudden ... apparently someone said they thought they had seen die with a clothing rack go into the bus before, so they snuck in i gues?? i dont know, by the time i got out of the building it was an hour after it had finnished ...
i loved the wierd faces kyo made, especially when he did the one where he put his hands behind his head and waved his fingers! it made me laugh like crazy!!!
i would try to expand on the set list daki wrote, but im really bad with song names .. the ones i remember he said ... so ya
awsome amazing night i will never forget!! i can die happy now!!
oh! and apparently kyo got hurt again!!! twice hes been to toronto, both times he got hurt!!!!!!!! after the concert, when he was leaving the stage, apparently he was out of it, and fell down the stairs and hit his chin.... i swear, somethings cursed, either him or toronto! though im guessing its toronto, cause almost every concert i go to here, the lead singer gets hurt ..........

GWAR and Mindless Self Indulgence have also played the HOB in Orlando and also the one in Anaheim. What Kyo does is nothing compared to their respective stage shows.
And yet GWAR and MSI are always invited back.

I'm dismissing the whole thing as hearsay until official word comes out, which will never happen. Plus even though the HOB is on Disney property, they don't own it so they couldn't do anything about it anyway.
but by the end i had been pushed around so much i ended up 3 rows from the front, right in front of kyo ...
lol, we were quite near each other
while waiting for encore this stupid girl on my left just couldn't stop screaming and i really wanted to beat her up. she was shorter than me so her mouth is at where my ears are, so i absorbed all her soundwave:okashii: geez u know they'll come back out as the crew was checking the stage and not removing the sets so stop ur damn screaming.

ATTN: ALL GUITAR PLAYERS!!!
i'm trying to teach myself how to play guitar and i decided i'd try out some dir en grey, since it's those i'm most observent [sp?] of. what are some easy songs to play? fyi: i'm as beginner as a beginner can get on guitar. aka...i'm starting with like 1% ability. if you have tabs, non-guitar pro [cause i dont have it], that would be amazing.
thanks,
Kelly:wave:
p.s.: feel free to contact me on aim. think of it as online tutoring. heh. ^^
i love their new album
conceived sorrow is my fave-slow and very dramatic
clever sleazoid- i love the vocals and the pv
grief-nice song,i love it when other diru members sing,
i think this is my fave diru album, all songs are very interesting.
Though I don't know that the reason for the rumored baning was the stage performance. Sooooo. Until more info comes out it sounds like it's just some made up gossip, but if Deg did something backstage that warranted banning it could be true.

So I went to the New York show last night with my friend (IkaruJaki -- she may even post her own thoughts at some point soon). Just like at Family Values, I was so busy taking in what I was seeing that it never really hit me at THAT moment that I was actually watching Dir en grey perform live. I got home a little while ago and all of a sudden I just thought to myself, "Hey... man... you saw a full live set from Diru last night. You never thought that would happen!"
First off, here are the songs they played. Keep in mind that they are NOT in order except for a few: G.D.S., The Fatal Believer, and Agitated Screams were the first three and the encore songs are all in order. Everything else is just me remembering what they played.
G.D.S.
The Fatal Believer
Agitated Screams of Maggots
Merciless Cult
Saku
Kodoku ni Shisu, Yueni Kodoku
Itoshisa wa Fuhai ni Tsuki
The Final
Dead Tree
Mr. Newsman
Grief
Ryoujoku no Ame
The Deeper Vileness
Audience Killer Loop
Obscure
-- Encore --
Beautiful Dirt
C
The IIID Empire
Clever Sleazoid
So the show was amazing, but here are a few standout moments:
- When Kyo came out he hopped up on his riser, pressed his hands together, and bowed his head as if he were praying and thanking/showing respect for the crowd. When he jumped down he let out a "HEEEEYYY!!!" and the crowd responded with thunderous appplause and screams. That was pretty much the only talking he did.
- During the tribal breakdown in "Grief," Kyo got the audience to clap along, which is surprising cos you don't really see him do that sort of thing. Kaoru seemed to try and get the audience even more worked up later on in the show by holding his arms out and gesturing towards us. People have been saying that the guys don't look like they're having fun on stage, but that's not what it looked like to me last night. Except for one moment...
- ...and that moment was with Die. He seemed rather... angry during "Ryoujoku no Ame" in particular; perhaps he was having some sort of technical difficulties because I saw him kick something to the side. I couldn't tell since I was pretty much dead center in the venue. During the second chorus he was letting loose with some pretty violent up strokes on his guitar... I have no idea what was up. He relaxed as the show went on, though.
- Toshiya tossed his mic stand over his head and the roadie that came out had no idea what to do with it. I think Toshiya actually told him what to do. Speaking of Toshiya's mic, his is up front with everyone else's now instead of being next to Shinya.
- Speaking of Shinya, I kept my eyes glued to the little stone-faced pretty boy during "Agitated Screams of Maggots" and "Clever Sleazoid." He looks so frail but he's a complete madman on the drums, yet he makes it look so easy. He never flinches or changes his expression the entire time. I can't even tell if he sweats!
- There was a break to allow for Kyo to do a vocal solo. He started off with what seemed like his own version of a Gregorian chant, which was surprisingly pretty enough to give me chills. He then did a seamless transition from the chant into this explosive, blood-curdling scream. The crowd went absolutely insane.
- When they showed the uncensored videos for "Agitated Screams of Maggots" and "Obscure" on the screen behind them, I could only wonder what the parents that brought their kids were thinking. When I saw the familiar image of the bloody mouthed geisha on the screen, I could only image what the parents were saying to their kids on the ride home.
It was an incredible night. The Nokia Theatre isn't a huge venue and it wasn't sold out, but I was surprised at how many people were there. Everyone gave the band tons of energy and love and I think they really fed off of it, which made the show that much better. You can tell Diru wants to make an impact in America because, despite the language barrier, they give us no less of a performance that they give their Japanese fans. When the show is over they hang around on stage and interact with the audience for a bit -- squirting water, throwing picks, drumsticks and water bottles -- giving thanks for the support. I know they were and probably still are unsure of just how much success they'll have in the States, but if last night is any indication then I'm sure they'll do just fine. They might not be huge here, but they'll have a loyal underground following.
I wish them all the best of luck. I know I'll always be there when I can.

There was a lot of people being pulled out though and at one point the pushing caused a mini domino effect and I saw some people fall but it wasn't anything big. But i'm sure there were people there who got punched or hit or pushed in the who mess of things.

^ Evidentally some people were extremely rude at the New York show as well. Some idiots decided it would be a nice thing to trample people for no reason.
I saw some people getting taken out and one girl who seemed to be in a bit of shock (like she had been hit good for no reason) being taken out with a VERY concerned friend following her. But over all the crowd was really good.
"Hey... man... you saw a full live set from Diru last night. You never thought that would happen!".
I was having those moment on the train into the city (but then it was "you are going to") when we got into the nokia and during a vast majority of the concert. Along with the "Holy poop we are so close this time compared with where we were seated at FVT!!"

People have been saying that the guys don't look like they're having fun on stage, but that's not what it looked like to me last night.
OK loved that he was up on his stand cause I'm short and with the crowd infront of me I was on my toes or relying on the monitors to see the stage well. and it really got the audience charged up just waiting for the first sound from them. Also if you've seen the dvds of the previous tours you can see them moving away from the "joking a lot with each other on stage" thing. Even at FVT you could tell that they are moving to a more "westernized" (or american/british) style of performing. They still seem to really enjoy being on stage and looked like they were having a lot of fun. But yes to those out there who are stuck on this: they are not interacting with each other as much.
Except for one moment...
- ...and that moment was with Die. He seemed rather... angry during "Ryoujoku no Ame" During the second chorus he was letting loose with some pretty violent up strokes on his guitar... I have no idea what was up. He relaxed as the show went on, though.

ok as for Die I wouldn't say he was angry, just agitated and am thinking there may have been a monitor or cord problem.
As for Toshiya being up front more it may also have had something to do with the depth of the stage. And Shinya continues to amaze me. I love to watch him play. Little stoic boy that he is onstage.
So yeah Saishu pretty much covered it. I will say that after seeing the at FVT it was a bit easier to REALLY enjoy the show cause while I still wasn't sure if I'd ever get to see them headline a show in the states, it wasn't quite the same shock of seeing them live for the fist time ever and knowing that we'd get to do the meet and greet after there set. and Saishu seemed to be able to respond a bit more as opposed to the deer-in-the-headlights stance he had at FVT. But like I said I was in almost as much shock then too.
And I may post more later but I'm a bit tired so this is it for now.

@ Saishu: I just read your review. I was at the NYC show too  . The Nokia actually did sell out the day of the show. It was awesome. A big SOLD OUT sign was flashing on the screens with some Diru footage in the back. But the show was awesome. Shinya is a killer on the drums. I don't know how he does it. Great views and free from harm. Though I got bruises from rubbing against the railings...but whatever. I was glad I had air to breath.
but during the encore i just got really really high and started pushing everyone in front of me. ya also people genrally smelled like horse crap, which was unpleasant.

Heh, hi?
I just made an account to post this- but hey, a new forum wouldn't be bad at all!
I was at the Toronto show, and this is the first I've talked/seen any fans complain that much about the pit. I dunno how things were looking behind me, I was facing forewards/sideways the whole show. lol, when one of you guys mentioned the sweaty guy with it dripping off his hair...I was sad it could have been me.:(
Hopefully I wasn't that bad. I dunno, I went a little nuts. I've been waiting 4 years to see Diru and that was the night. There wasn't so much moshing it seemed as just surges in the crowd to get as close to the sex on stage as possible. I'm used to punk/ska shows, so I guess I'm fairly used to jackasses at shows, but I did find a lot of people disreagrded fallen people. I made a damn good effort to help everyone back up and get a path cleared for those trying get out the front.
I loved the show, easily my favorite (which beats out my old, Big D/Streetlight, for any ska fans...lol) but the rabbidness of us all was sorta crazy. I headbanged a little during the encore, and jumped when Kyo called for it, but really tried to just get closer, rather than mosh into all the people who were like...really shorter than me. :bluush:
lol...I ramble. But yeah, dunno if anyone would remember me- I was wearing a spaceman with a stero hoodie (so freakin' hot in there!)...dead centre, only a few people from the front, accepted chicken from some guy I didn't know in line. Yeah. That woulda beeeeeeeeeeen me. :relief:
Did any of you have the state of mind to remember the set list? I've been trying to remember since the show, but it's blurred by me almost passing out. :(
T_T i'm still waiting for my copy of Marrow of A Bone to come in the mail, but my luck by the time it does come they won't have the site up anymore and i will miss everything.

Okay guys, herefs my post about my experience at the Minneapolis concert as promised! It started off terrible; I got in line at about 3:30 (the concert starting at 4:30) and was about 40th in line or so. It was about five degrees out, and they decided not to open the doors until 5:30 because the 1st opening band was having troubles with their sound checks. Everyone was pissed and I couldnft feel my toes. The opening bands sucked really bad; the first band was trying way too hard, and the second band was a bunch of geeks. The singer had like five bald spots. They reminded me of that one band on School of Rock. Ish. Well, I didnft get to take pics becausec. I GOT TO STAND IN THE FRONT ROW!!! I was about five feet away from my idol Kaoru!! That was cool. There wasnft that many people there, maybe four-hundred or so.
The show was incredible if I dare say orgasmic. They started with G.D.S, then (if I remember right XD) They then played The Fatal Believer, The Final, Agitated Screams of Maggots, Merciless Cult, Saku, Obscure, Ryojuku no Ame, The Deeper Vileness, Beautiful Dirt, The IIID Empire, and Clever Sleazoid (I hope those are in the right order)
They seemed pretty happy to be there, especially Kaoru. He was raising his arms and getting everyone to scream  Kyofs vocal solo was incredibly beautiful, I couldnft help but cry. Ryojoku no Ame and The Final got me good too, especially since a lot of people were singing along with it. It was really powerful. :bawling: Toshiya seemed really happy and excited, and was being really goofy. I couldnft help but laugh a few times!!
Shinya was absolutely phenomenal on the drums. I swear I donft understand how it is humanly possible for him to drum like that. I didnft get to see Die very well as he was about thirty feet away from me, but he seemed pretty happy to be there too, at least as far as I saw. Kyo was amazing, surprisingly he didnft spit blood on anyone, he kept it to himself  I couldnft help but smile when he dumped the water bucket that said "RAPE ME" on it on his head and when he did his little sexy dance!! About twenty people passed out, it was ridiculous. However, as far as I could see there wasnft any moshing, but I guess it was possible since I wasnft exactly looking behind me the whole time. The person behind me kept shoving me though, and it was really annoying. :okashii: I was surprised I didnft lose my voice from screaming so much
Surprisingly, neither my mum or my aunt thought that it was scary or disgusting. My mom thought that it was edifferentf and the only comment that my aunt had to say was ethe lead singer had a nice stomachf :okashii: But I guess thatfs better than them being all freaked out and what not. Though my aunt did ask for the lyrics in English. I think Ifm gonna pass on that one. I didnft catch anything, or get to meet them :bawling: I worry that I will never get to meet them. BUT! To be optimistic, Toshiya touched my hand when I reached it out as he walked by, so at least I got something!! :bluush: Oh yeah. My neck hurts REALLY bad today. But they had free water at the place I went  We didnft have to pay $4 or anything. BY FAR the best Valentinefs Day Ifve ever had   I hope I didnft miss anything!
^ 400 ppl only?? wow, must feel so nice without those ridiculous pushing that i had.
ya, the 5 bald hole singer band sucked the crap out of whatever you wanna call it. i think they're Fair to Midland if i remember correctly.

I got my copy in the mail yesterday and visited the site, they have alot of stuff that is coming soon *_* lets see if they actually get everything up on the site or not. I opened up the cd, but I haven't listened to it at all. It's sitting on my living room floor with a notebook on the top of it (normally I would of listened to it 4-5 times through, but I don't feel like it let alone even want to look at the album). I was asked what's the point of getting a cd if your not going to listen to it and I said what's the point of listening to the cd when you have no one to discuss it with.

You should get your copy of the cd no later then tuesday (i'm assuming)

i got mine thursday, good album, could be better. Loving Tsuya ka shiki ansoku... at the moment. best song in the album along with conceived sorrow. the unplugged disc is very very well done. the bad part is the clear plastic folder thing that comes with it is dented/cracked abit during shipment.
I can't imagine Diru would want to tour with Despairs Ray or Gazette, anyway.
agreed. don't see them doing so anytime soon. but Fair to midland is just plain bad. gotta find some better bands to support. the crowd was like DEAD in toronto during FTM.

me too,i think it is impossible, more so,gazette is like compared to diru when it comes to the sound and sometimes ruki sounds like kyo,but i love both gazette and diru
I'm not saying the bands would gel to much...I'd just rather see them than fair to midland or bleed the dream.
Hell, anyone who sounds good I'm all for. I just hope diru tours again and comes back to T.O. really... I already miss that night. :(
Diru will definately go back to Toronto when they tour north america again (which hopefully will be soon, but not so soon that they don't get a chance to rest.)

OH! Also- by the time I got back to the apartment after said show it was my birthday, therefore making it the best birthday EVER! ^^
Oh, does anyone else think that their shows here are sortof...mm, screened for an American audience? Watching their shows in Japan vs. going to shows here, I feel like they're not as active. I mean, Kaoru used to bounce around the stage and both times I saw him he barely moved, let alone fanserviced. I know they're not technically VK anymore, but, really? Also, Kyo should talk to the crowds! I know his English isn't great, but if everyone in the crowd is the least bit like me they would swoon to hear him talk in Japanese anyways, even if they only understood snipets. It gives them an air of...arrogance? Since there's little to no audience interaction, save at the end when they throw stuff into the crowd. So it's funny, to me, that they would sortof censure their performance, but also opt not to talk, making them seem more menacing then if they didn't censure themselves. -shrug-

My friend (IkaruJaki) and I did the meet and greet at Family Values. We got to meet Die and Kaoru. It was just a quick line up for a hand shake, but it was still pretty cool.
I was at the Feb 10 NYC show and it didn't seem much different than what I saw on the It Withers and Withers DVD. That is -- as it's been said before -- they really don't do much running around and playing with each other anymore. Although, if you noticed, Kaoru did run over to Die's side during "C," Besides, Kyo is more than animated enough; he encouraged a clap along for crying out loud! When has he ever done that?
Diru will definately go back to Toronto when they tour north america again (which hopefully will be soon, but not so soon that they don't get a chance to rest.)
hey, we sold them out and helped them rocked toronto, they definitely gonna come back. don't see a reason why they won't with such fan base.
xpenginikix
Feb 19, 2007, 23:13
True, true. I guess it's relative to their new stuff? But, it's a general want for more crowd interaction, yes? Because as amazing as their shows are now, the energy in the Japanese crowds seems a tad different. Also, they have co-ordinated dances. In the NYC show, they sortof just...stood there. -shrug- And, at Family Values, there was only a small pit area (in Mansfield) and it was mostly full of Korn fans, so Diru really didn't get a great reaction. (we were stuck in the seats...>.<)

Do they ever really take time to rest? They seem to be going all the time, either touring or in the studio. I think I'd rather wait a year or more to see them again if it ment they got to take a real break.
xpenginikix
Feb 20, 2007, 04:17
Mm, the NYC show was the day after the Toronto show, and their tour was right after the Family Values stint. I was afraid Kyo's voice wouldn't be all that great, but he's been managing. Between the cigarettes and the screaming and the intensive tours...that's pretty darn good. Also, I need the time to save up money to go and see them...the two concerts so close together, both of them requiring lodging and food for at least two days is killer on my wallet. I'd rather see them wait and take time off to cool down and recharge too.

Yeah, they rest all the time. Instead of touring for a year or so at a time like a lot of bands do, DeG does their touring in two-month intervals. Tour for a couple months, then rest a month or two.

I saw Kyo on his b-day and he seemed a bit pissed off(?). The crowd at the Denver show was moshing and some annoying little fan girls wouldn't shut up. I think I actually heard him tell the people to shut up at one point? After the encore he just kind of stormed off the stage. Is that his normal exit?
Regardless, it was the best show I've ever been to in my life. I was right about the energy they produced. I spent the whole time hanging off the balcony and just watching. No screaming or jumping or head banging... I didn't want to miss a moment. The first 2 bands sucked, but Diru made it worth sitting through the emo crap. And all of the hell I went through to get there...
I didn't want it to end.
I heard a rumor that they are tentatively thinking about doing Family Values again... anyone know anything?

From the way he behaves, Kyo knows he's beautiful. Besides, these men are on the stage, pouring their hearts out performing for the crowd. The least we can do is have respect enough to shut up and listen. Right?
I don't think I'd want to do a meet & greet. If I meet them, I want to be more than some faceless fan they say thanks to and forget 2 seconds later. If I can't pick Kyo's brain, I'd rather just keep to my fantasies (don't get excited, most of them involve simply speaking with him).
Yoko_Kisaragi
Feb 21, 2007, 05:48
Exactly. If I were up there and just showing how I feel so strongly like that and all that the fans did was scream instead of listen, I'd be really upset as well. Jeez. I want them to do a meet and greet, but I'd want to know ahead of time so I could plan out exactly what I wanted to say. Hopefully it would mean something. I wouldn't just be like 'OMG you're so kawaii' Those people should be smacked

But Kyo...I don't know if he usually storms off... for my show he just took the bucket off his head and got off stage....Seems they all enjoyed the show = T

As much as I want to see Diru live again, I almost don't want them to do another tour with Family Values. The general crowd that attends that show is full of close-minded goons that shout insults at the band just because they're from another country. I know it would be in Diru's best interest to tour in America as much as they can, but it would be nice if they just did another headlining tour instead. I prefer when they play a full set, and I also prefer the small clubs because you can actually enjoy the lighting and it's a lot more intimate.
If they do join Family Values again, I'll definitely go just to see Diru, it's just really difficult to ignore the idiots in the audience.

I heard that Korn wanted them to do the FVT again... but as Riyko said... If they are going to do that European tour in august... I dont see how they will do the FVT...
I mean Kyo-sama probably doesnt storm off like that in the shows... but I think in those particular shows he did because of the lack of respect people had when they were screaming when he was singing...
I mean, if I was him.. .I guess I would have dome the same thing...

Feb 21, 2007, 10:19
Kyo doesn't really stick around when a show is over anyway, does he? He doesn't hang around with the rest of the band while they throw stuff out into the audience. At the NYC show he stood there for a bit with the bucket on his head, removed it, then walked off.
I don't know if Kyo would be upset about American crowds moshing... I keep reading reports that Japanese fans are just as vicious, if not more so. On one side of the world you've got people getting into small group fights, on the other side you've got people trampling each other to be in front. There isn't much of a difference there.
I doubt he'd be upset over people enjoying him "bleeding." He does it at every show -- it's a part of the performance. And, well... I've already said here before that most of the blood isn't real, but I won't get into that again.
Anyway, maybe I just got lucky and the NYC show just went amazingly well. The band was already pretty much warmed up to us as soon as they played the first song, and they were clearly enjoying themselves up there.

I'm not sure if you all have seen any of the DVDs of the live shows, but Kyo allmost always walks off right after he's done. So I don't think he's storming off the stage per-say.
And for being mad that people enjoy him bleeding? Highly doubt it since, again from the dvds, he's been doing it for a while now. But it seems from the FVT and this current tour, that he's doing less of the bleeding for effect thing.

Yeah, I read in an interview somewhere that he does it to see how far he can push himself. Less for the crowd and more for personal reasons. andie: i agree with you

Well, Dir en grey has pretty much always been... vulgar, although I guess they really didn't do anything over the top lyrics-wise until "Zomboid."
I wouldn't worry about the band changing too much. They've got a new sound (for the better, I believe) compared to ten years ago, but they still sound like Dir en grey. For one, Kyo's voice is pretty much unique unto himself and immediately recognisable. Secondly, even though they play a lot of fast and heavy stuff now, they still compose songs like "Itoshisa wa Fuhai ni Tsuki," and "Namamekashiki Ansoku, Tamerai ni Hohoemi," two gorgeous songs that are perfect showcases of their excellent songwriting abilities and willingness to be diverse.
Opening The Marrow of a Bone with "Conceived Sorrow" was a pretty ballsy yet fantastic decision. It's like they wanted to show us that they can still convey powerful emotions without Kyo screaming over loud music. Then they crack us over the head with "Lie Buried with a Vengeance."
Wow... I can't even begin to describe how much I love The Marrow of a Bone. I truly think it's their best album yet.

^I think they meant more along the lines of how american band acts, not sounds? (at least that's what I thought that post meant :relief: ) Like the sex, booze, and "rock and roll" behavior. Seeing clips of Shinya shotgunning a beer is pretty...unexpected..but i'm sure they've always gone out drinking and stuff before.
@pinkbuta: ooh I would like to read that blog entry ^^

Hey everyone :waves:
I'm listening to Diru quite for a long time and I really like their music. Kyo's voice is amazing. He can shout and in the same song he can sing so softly that I nearly start to cry. So far Dead tree is my favourite song. I think they are one of the most amazing bands I ever saw in my live. I really hope that they will come to Germany again this year, because I watched the video from last year when they were performing in Germany and they are really good live.
As I can read all of you, who have been to a concert enjoyed it...that makes me wanna see them live even more.

Missed... it... NYA! *sob* Damn irony and its cunning! Thanks anyways!
I think they should come back, they could really make it in america, I can see them making it. Most people I know love them, and with a voice as different as Kyo's, and a drummer as kick *** as Shinya, and some of the craziest guitar riffs I've ever heard, they could top any of our bands here!
Maybe we should start a petition! Get them to come to the states (and canada *whine*) again! Cuz I was going to fly to the states for them!! So they better be doing the same for me!!! >.< ... *is making myself comfortable in this little forum*

@Reita-kun – Ha, someone thought I was funny ^_^ Unfortunately, itfs not contagious around where I live :bawling: I wanna get waved at :okashii:
@Bloodlust – Yeah, ditto. Ifm sure itfd be relieving for him to have a couple female fans that arenft like OMG kawaii!! :okashii: LOL I wouldnft imagine it being scary to be a Diru roadie, but I guess I was mistaken!! He didnft pick it up in Minneapolis. Ifm guessing because there wasnft anywhere to throw it :bawling:
@pinkbuta304 – Yeah, they were very energetic. I was so happy  Aw, I wish I could hear him giggle. You guys in LA get all the good stuff!! :bawling:
@andie – Especially the bands they toured with. Complete and utter talentless suckage.
Omedetoo gozaimasu Shinya-san!! :cracker:
@Precious4e- It would suck if they went into the sex/drugs/booze type thing. Ugh. I canft even imagine.
@pinkbuta: ooh I would like to read that blog entry ^^
I just happened to read it so here u go the Diru-part
Anyway, it was a perfect day off. I went to my studio, and interviewed several candidates for my entertainment organization, and went to dinner with several friends, then went to see the "Dir en grey" show at the Wiltern Theater in LA.
Overall the show was great... full of energy, and... every time I see them perform, it makes me want to rock... I'm doing a lot of different genres of music. from classical to... whatever... but I think I really love rock. I've been playing the drums since I was 10 years old... well, actually playing the piano since age 4 as well.
Anyway... after the show, the entire band came to my house, and celebrated Shinya's (the drummer's) birthday party. Back then. well, when I was producing Dir en grey, we used to hang out pretty much every day... It was so nice to hang out with them again.
Last night we ended up drinking together until the morning,
I hope they're all OK for the show tonight.
On stage they were very charismatic, but off stage they are some of the sweetest people I know. HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THEM!!!

i just hope that their exposure to american bands wont change them,i know some american bands are like too vulgar and i dont want them to corrupt dir en grey,i dont want them to act like some western band,i want dir en grey to be dir en grey.
I wouldn't worry, Kyo said (very recently, I may add) that they could never change like that.

So lucky people at wiltern could have MAYBE saw Yoshiki too lol.

I think they will always do their own thing, sure, they have many influences but they are always Dir en grey and always will be. Unless they decide to randomly change their name sometime down the road. *smart-aleck*
And too vulgar?? :souka: Deg's pretty vulgar as is.

Feb 27, 2007, 03:44
I dont think Dir en Grey would change their name... I mean... yeah... they have been through alot... experience wise... and they do have many influences... but I dont think they will change the name... they're knwon as Dir en Grey... and if they DO change their name I think many people will be upset... then again this is my opinion...

Er, I wasn't meaning the name change thing to do taken seriously.

That's okay!
I think their name suits them.

Have you heard the album... Marrow Of A Bone? I kinda like it... it sounds pretty cool...

@Sonya
thanks for the entry...that sounded really funny...well I guess drinking and making party with Diru is always funny :p
It seems that I'm the only person here that has NOT been to a diru-concert so far..:bawling:
I think a band has to change in some way to develop themself, like in the style of making music and so on...but I don't think that Diru would change like andie worried (although it's always good to think about such things...that shows that you care about the band and that they are important for you)...I mean look at them...they're an japanese rock-band, having fans all over the world..they toured together with Korn (which is, what I think, most of their biggest successes) and I think they know that they have many fans who will support them everytime and don't need to change ( in a bad way)...but that's only my opinion..don't bite me for that

Aaaah, "The Marrow of a Bone" I think it's tied for my fav Deg album along with "Withering to Death" and "Macabre." Woa, now THAT'S when you know a band rocks, when you have a three-way tie for fav album.
Reita-kun
Feb 27, 2007, 04:04
Dont you worry BlackSoul... I wont bite you... everyone has their own opinion... and I agree with you... on everything you said...*supports Dir en Grey*
@Hyde_is_my_anti-drug: I love "Withering to Death" My favourite song from that Album is "Dead Tree"... ^^ I love it... Then there is "Vulgar" which I think is ok... but "Withering to Death" and "Marrow od a Bone" are my two faves... ^^

Feb 27, 2007, 04:13
My fav Diru albums are tied between Kisou, Vulgar, and WtD hehehehe
I can listen to them on repeat all day!
Reita-kun
Feb 27, 2007, 04:18
I know what you mean... I like "Kisou" too... and "Vulgar"... "Withering to Death" and "Gauze"... but my all time fave song would have to be "Dead Tree" (which I am listening to right now) ^-^

Yoko_Kisaragi Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to make him squeal, but... I'd want to get to know him as a person too. :-) The man does take sexy to new extremes, after all.
When he threw it in Denver, it didn't have anywhere to go. I actually thought he was going to take out the drum kit! I almost went to Minneapolis... it was between there and Englewood. Maybe next time.
Hyde_is_my_anti-drug Too true! Change is good. But I think they do it on their own terms. Growing as a band as opposed to changing for others.
I don't have Marrow of a Bone yet :( Managed to find Withering at a local store though! I professed my love to the guy behind the counter... he seemed a bit uncomfortable. And I told him about other albums, and how amazing the band is, and he said they will start ordering more DEG for the shelves!

Then you were lucky Bloodlust... ^^; Sometimes I look at the online shops... Cdjapan... or Yesasia... they usually have what I want...

The only albums that have been released in the states, and can be found at many stores, are Withering and Marrow. Oh and Agitated Screams is at FYE. The rest of their stuff I've gotten online or borrowed from Saishu. Hopefully with the steps their taking to get into the market here we'll see more of their albums soon!

Yea since WtD and MOAB are both American releases now you can probably get them at any major CD place like Virgin Records, Tower Records, FYE, or whichever. I got my WtD at Virgin Records. And don't forget Hot Topic lol. I'm sure they'll be carrying the Diru releases.

Yoko_Kisaragi He is so much more than that! Besides, Kyo IS NOT kawaii! Smoking hot? Yup. Sexy beyond all reason? Definitely! But cute? I've never seen him that way, and I don't understand why so many women do. In fact, the first time I saw a pic of him, I didn't think he was that good looking! I have since changed my tune, but it's the whole package that makes him as appealing as he is. If all you want is a cute, Japanese *ahem* playmate, you can find one of those that is way more accessable than Kyo!
I heard not very many people came to that show. Bad for the band, but I really don't like crowds so it would have been good for me! I survived.
Reita-kun I actually saw something somewhere that Hot Topic was goign to carry DEG. I got my Withering at HMV. And at Warcon Record's website, I think you can find some of the stuff that isn't released here. You already know about CDJapan.... Good luck! I'm still trying to get my hands on Marrow! I live in the sticks so NOBODY ever knows what I'm talking about!

Thanks so much Bloodlust... I really want to get my hands on some Diru albums... Thanks for the other suggestions too!
But if Dir en grey changes that would be them being Dir en grey. If to be Dir en grey required never changing then they'd still look like this:
i wouldn't mind, as long as the music is good. i care less about images..
Reita-kun
Feb 28, 2007, 02:52
Image is something thats very little on my part... even though they look sexy... what they do with their image is for themselves... all I want is for them to still make awesome music! lol

Feb 28, 2007, 04:00
I love the fact that they change a lot. What worries me is that they'll turn into the American trash sort of rockstars who only care about drugs, booze, and sleazing around if you will.
Reita-kun
Feb 28, 2007, 04:05
I dont think that they would go that far... The changing is sometimes good for them because they gain more experience... but I do not think that they will like, change into american trash who only care for drugs and what not...

What, you mean when they toured with Korn just now? I dont know about that... lol... But I think its just to gain popularity in the states... I'd be kind of sad... I wouldn't want them to go downhill with Drugs and Alcohol... they seem to good for that you know...
