Image is something thats very little on my part... even though they look sexy... what they do with their image is for themselves... all I want is for them to still make awesome music! lol
Sorry for interrupting your conversation ^^"
But i'd like to say something about that *löl*
It's just that i think~ Their music is more important than their images, you're right~ But I still think, Toshiya is the most beautiful man in world, no matter what comes, so~ I'm just looking at their look, even if it isn't that important to me XD ^^
Maybe it's just because Diru themselves changed so much~ as kaoru said in that Interview a few weeks ago...~

No... its ok... interrupt as much as you want...
Yeah... I'm more into their music than they're look... They have changed alot... but they all look hott ^^", I love Kyo-sama... *dies*

Reita-kun
Feb 28, 2007, 05:11
Yeah... I dont like it when he does it either... makes me want to cry... my friend said he did it at the concert that she went to too...

@Reita-kun - Touring with those fools is going to make them LOSE popularity!!
@Yumiko_Okahawa - Oh goodness, please don't apologize! The forum is here for everyone to talk!! *hug* I bawled my a*s off at parts of the concert too, their music is amazingly beautiful! He does have really bad scars on his ribs, it is almost painful just looking at them. Uh... wanna share that Kao Kao piccy?

Mau~ I'd just like to, but i can't.... I wanted to share some in the Kagrrathread already but... it doesn't work :(
They just tell me I'm not allowed~ But maybe it works as an attachement? I'll try! ^^
No no no, I'm talking about these freaks Fair to Midland and Bleed the Dream.
Fair to Midland wasn't one of my favorite bands, but I really liked Bleed the Dream. I understand people don't like them, but you shouldn't call those bands freaks or even say that Diru will lose popularity for touring with them. All in all it's more of an advantage for Dir en grey because at some of the shows because some of the people there only wanted to watch those two bands and in the end wound up liking Dir en grey and gained fans for Diru.
I could of easily taken your comment the wrong way, but after a while I get tired of listening to people say that the opening acts should of been different or they shouldn't of had opening acts. With out the opening acts Diru would of had to perform at least 3 1/2 - 4 hours a show and would of either wound up dead tired from playing that long or ran out of songs to perform.

ROFLMAO At first I thought I was being yelled at w/ the capital letters XD LOL I am sorry, please do not be jealous! I just got lucky. But yeah, I didn't wash my hand for a couple days and then I did when I wasn't thinking about it, I was kinda bummed!! LOL *hug*
Yumiko_Okahawa
Feb 28, 2007, 06:04
So... did that work with the picture? I hope so~ I get desperate here XD Can you see it?
Toshiyaaaaaa~ *.* Of cpurse I'm kinda jealous (Now I have to think about the song, everytinme I use this word ^^"), Yoko, but~ I think you're lucky and no matter if you wash your hands or not XD You will always remember that ^^ I have to think about a quote I read ... "My memories of you are all the rain can't wash away..." I think, that's true here! ^^

The average age of the guys in Diru is 30... I think they're beyond the point of being affected by "peer pressure."
I wouldn't worry about them turning into drug addicted and/or alcoholic womanisers.

I believe that those two bands are on the same American label. I don't think DEG hand picked them or anything. But I did hear that Toshiya (?) liked Fair to Midland. Maybe he just enjoyed the apparent siezures that vocalist kept having! And what was with the bald spots on his head? Was he trying to hide the fact that the one in the back was so real? Yup, I noticed.

Hm~ Fair to Midland...is that a band...? Gosh i don't know them, but okay... nice that Toshiya seems to like them~ i tought I was always up to date with Toshiya facts.... määäh~
Hahaha~ I just don't think Diru will change that much~ womaniser... never mind... as kaoru said in an interview they don't even try to be too close to each other in Duru, so I think, they wouldn't change to that XD ^^
I just don't worry about them, they change, but they change in a good way, I'm sure ^^

Yeah... Fair to Midland is a band... and Toshiya likes them... ^^ I dont know them much... but yeah...
I dont think they'll be womanisers... but yeah... this will only take time... I mean... I dont think they going to change like RIGHT NOW... but if they do... change it will be in the future and then we can share our opinions then... as for right now... I'm just assuming... TwT

Umm, hi again!
The whole changing thing sort of upset me a bit. As they went from VK, to sorta, I dunno...stylish but not really all VK'd out, then pretty much average clothes like now was sort of a "DeG is going crappy!" at first to me. I was worried about MoaB, mainly because I was iffy about the first two singles, then plain out didn't like ASOM. The cd works great though. I dunno, the change in music style has also sort of been odd...wouldn't say downhill, because it's still good. I just liked their older stuff and was expecting more of the same vein of music further down the road.
Hopefully they don't change much more, or even a bit back towards their old ways would be nice I think. But I don't think they'll be getting all "Sex, drugs any time soon. That'd be terrible.
Can anyone help me though? I'm looking for an avatar, or even just a picture of Kaoru from Child Prey. I've been in love with Kaoru's style since I found DeG and his jacket+hair in that PV made me go crazy. Aaaannny help would be like a christmas present early. :)

here are a few pics of child prey kaoru. ENJOY :-)
re: that shirtless pic of kaoru somewhere on the top of this page, i didn't know his left arm tattoo extend all the way into his chest, i thought it was just forearm and back of the hand..wow.
re: fair to midland, i don't mind if toshiya likes them, as long as they don't try to do what they do musically. -.- fair to midland was just....bad in my opinion.

And yes, Kaoru is Godly.
@Sonya
thanks for the entry...that sounded really funny...well I guess drinking and making party with Diru is always funny :p
It seems that I'm the only person here that has NOT been to a diru-concert so far..:bawling:
I think a band has to change in some way to develop themself, like in the style of making music and so on...but I don't think that Diru would change like andie worried (although it's always good to think about such things...that shows that you care about the band and that they are important for you)...I mean look at them...they're an japanese rock-band, having fans all over the world..they toured together with Korn (which is, what I think, most of their biggest successes) and I think they know that they have many fans who will support them everytime and don't need to change ( in a bad way)...but that's only my opinion..don't bite me for that
diru members are somewhat vulgar except for shinya,i know they are smart and talented it is just that i hope they wont do drugs, sex and excessive alcoholism.as for their sound,i am not a huge fan of their OLD stuff but i like vulgar and withering to death and a few songs from their earlier album.the way they sound now is so awesome, kyo's voice is superb i just wish that they will be DIR EN GREY!i dont want them to be acting like some western rock metal band(this is without prejudice to western bands)

@andie
I can totally understand your worries, especially now when they have so much contact with america and are touring with american bands..but there's one thing that makes me think that they won't change...you don't know about their private life, you only know the things they want to show (in comments or at their blog), it's not like that they're hunted by the press and everybody knows every detail from their life, like it's the case with some american stars and I think that prevents them from being fragile for drugs...also they don't seem to be only together to make music and work..they're friends and help eachother...but that's only my opinion and I really hope that they will be forever this amazing band!!!
and those shirt-less pics of Kao were great....*drools*

@pinkbuta304 - LOL I have that poster ^^ It hangs ever so convieniently above my bed ^^

@thirteen- I'm so mad, the pictures don't get bigger :bawling:
Jeez... I didn't mean to sound offensive :bawling:
It's ok, I wasn't singling you out. After a while of hearing that the opening bands sucks you get tired of it. It takes alot of courage for a band to open for a band like Dir en grey or an even bigger band and even if you don't like their music you should at least respect them for opening for Dir en grey.
I talked to some of the members of Bleed the Dream at the Toronto show and they are very nice and laid back, they we're giving people hugs, taking pictures with them and just talking to the fans waiting in line, where as fair to midland didn't even attempt to talk to anyone. I'm glad that Bleed the Dream was there, but they could of gone without fair to midland.
I've always been even if you don't like a band you shouldn't talk badly about them. It would be like someone talking really badly about Dir en grey for one reason or another. That's what I was trying to get at the whole time.
Anyways, I'm waiting to find out that my two copies of Despair in the Womb have arrived so I can pay for them and have them sent to me. It's kind of sad though because I have no one to give my second copy to now since that person doesn't want me to talk to him :(
Did anyone here who went to any of the shows, get to meet the band?

Well the host what ever his name was XDD
He kept saying dir en grey like "DEEERU en grey" and i laughed everytime he said it, im amazed kaoru and toshiya stayed calm but they did laugh a little
He asked questions like "Is that REAL blood kyo uses and what was that trick with kyo's eyes bleeding??" Kaoru talked mainly, and he said "His eyes were not bleeding it was blood from his mouth" XDD the guy also asked "Where do you think the fans get this information from and how is jrock spreading across america?!" Kaoru said "maybe from the japanese video games and anime they learned about the music and he said he has no idea how they got information" Toshiya said a couple things and he was so adorable ;__;!!

Yeah, I think I've read in an older interview (with Kyo maybe? can't remember) that they're not so close outside of their music. If you think about it, though, it seems very practical; it would be a shame if a band like them split because of personal matters that couldn't be resolved or something like that. It's hard to be around people you have personal issues with, let alone work with them.
Reita-kun
Mar 3, 2007, 03:14
That is true... I have heard something similar... They are more connected through their music than they are without... like as in more common interest... I think thats that same interview that you read Michiko-kitsune...
BlackSoul
Mar 3, 2007, 03:23
that's true too...if the band members are too close to eachother that can cause serious problems..and it would be sooo sad when a band like Diru splitted up because there are personal problems...also it's finally their decision and they have to make it the best and most comfortable way for them...but I thought at least that they are some of friends in some way..but only they know and I'll stay at their side and will support them, since they are an amazing band..
die's comment was really funny!!!!!:D
Bloodlust
Mar 3, 2007, 04:25
Poor Die...
I'm not shocked at all about the comment Kaoru made. I dare say, every band that has ever broken up (short of ones that had a member pass away) did it for personal reasons. Maybe not that they decided to hate each other, but always something that had nothing to do with the band as an entity, but because of an individual's life changes or opinion. Even 'artistic differences' are a personal reason.
Of course they're people, too! That's why I've never been one of those screaming fangirl types when I meet bands. True, I've never met anyone I adore as much as DEG, but still. I've met some relatively high caliber folks, and I kept my wits about me. Always remember: everybody poops.:giggle:
Michiko-kitsune
Mar 3, 2007, 04:42
I think it's also good to keep in mind that "not close" doesn't equate "completely cold towards eachother". X3 Yeah, maybe they keep out of each other's business as Kaoru says, but I would qualify the cooperation needed to stick together and make music for ten years as some level of "friendship", even if they're not like OMG BFFs!!! If you know what I mean. XD
(This isn't in response to anyone in particular, by the way, just a random thought I had all of a sudden and felt like sharing.)
wow, surprising interivew, esp when kaoru said that the 5 of them isn't too close, they only come together to make music and care not so much about other's private life. if they've been together for 10 yrs, i thought they would be a little closer than this. lol. i guess this explains why shinya always look like he doesn't know why he's there?
gravenimage
Mar 3, 2007, 12:44
rofl, he definitly is the odd one out.
But yeah, he didn't say they're distant. Not too close, not too distant. So it sounds to me more like a happy medium where they'll just let each other go home and be friends without having to live with each other and know all their personal stuff.
Oh, and I forget who mentioned Kaoru's hair- but yus; I don't mind the messy, long hair...just the facial hair. I loved his old styles, but the new one isn't terrible.
I just think all of diru should keep clean shaven. They're prettier that way.:bluush:

I think it's really not the first time we've heard about that... i just remamber that story they told in earlier times... about the thing with Shinyas Handy. Didn't say tell, he bought one and after having it a half year he told the other members? and then a half year later he gave them the number? So.. i think, that's another point of "not too close" as Kao said....
But when I watch that old stuff, they look very close to each other (except Kyo maybe ^^") .. Maybe that changed, too~

I think (and hope) that they found a good middle between being too close to eachother and a total distance...at least it's their decision and they have to live with it, and if it's the best way for them to not be close friends than they should keep it (also for the sake of their music)...I was just surprised, cause other bands sometimes say that they are like friends and help eachother and then Kao said that they only come together to make music...but maybe friendship is for him being really really close to eachother and they also have their deep connection through their music...

I said this to my mom about this subject, "Of course they don't know anything about each other's personal lives. It's hard to know anything about something that doesn't exist." As they've said many times their lives kinda ARE the band. :p

ahh you guys had me worried for a bit, but now after finally being able to read the interview i have no worries. Being not too close and being not too distant = friends doesn't it? anyways, they played audience killer loop?! aww not at the show i went to! :( ah well, i'm still happy to have been able to see em:-)

XD
(This isn't in response to anyone in particular, by the way, just a random thought I had all of a sudden and felt like sharing.)

...that image should not exist. XD
@andie
I can totally understand your worries, especially now when they have so much contact with america and are touring with american bands..but there's one thing that makes me think that they won't change...you don't know about their private life, you only know the things they want to show (in comments or at their blog), it's not like that they're hunted by the press and everybody knows every detail from their life, like it's the case with some american stars and I think that prevents them from being fragile for drugs...also they don't seem to be only together to make music and work..they're friends and help eachother...but that's only my opinion and I really hope that they will be forever this amazing band!!!
and those shirt-less pics of Kao were great....*drools*
i will remain a diru fan whatever happens and i just hope them all the success in their career.i guess i am just undermining them a little:souka:

Dir en grey are coming to Sweden. Allthough it isn't official but the site where the date and place is posted on is usually right so they should be in Stockholm August 7.
http://www.skrikhult.se/
If that is the case then I will probably be able to score an inteview with them since I work for a mag. And so I come to you, fans of Dir en grey, for help.
You see many (worthless) interviews with them and since I am a huge fan and have nothing but respect for the band, I want to atleast ask some decent questions, not like "Why is your name Dir en grey?", "why do you have a beard?" but to give them the sense that we made an effort and we are interested in their music and in them. So... If you have a Q you would like to ask them then please reply to this post.
Thank you for your help.
Yayyyy!! Dir en grey are finally coming to the UK! London on August 2! :bravo: :yeahh:

There are no graphics or pictures of "Dir En Grey" in Japanese letters because the band name is supposed to be in english.
The band name is: Dir en grey
Just like that. (only the first word is capitalised :bluush: )

Actually, "Dir en grey" is written in katakana on the packaging for the "Jealous" single. Unfortunately, I can't get a good picture of it; it comes out too blurry since it's written so small.
Precious4e
Mar 11, 2007, 12:43
In katakana? would it be デルエングレイ?
Not sure if the Japanese would pronounce the beginning as "diru" or "deru"
though....i'm not even sure if the have the sound for "di" lol
Saishu
Mar 11, 2007, 12:54
Actually, it's ディル アン グレイ .
The "de" followed by the small "i" is pronounced "dee." So the name, technically, is pronounced "deer ahn grey," even though most people (including me) say "dur in grey."
Precious4e
Mar 11, 2007, 13:16
ah...so they say it as "dehru ahn gurei"....puahah I say "deer en grey." I never liked saying "dur" :p Just one of those words that just don't sound right coming out of me.
But arg translating english words into katakana is hard because I have no idea how Japanese people would say it. Like the "e" sound for "a" for example. I would say "en" but they say "ahn"

they won't do another gauze, but i'm not a huge fan of MOB. i think even WTD or Vulgar was done better than MOB. it's not a bad album, but in my opinion lacks some passion. i don't know if passion is the right word, it's missing smth but i don't know how to describe it.

Mar 13, 2007, 04:31
I think the whole "grey coin" thing was wrong, because the word "coin" isn't anywhere in the band's name. The latest translation for "dir en grey" that I've heard is "to you, in grey."
Also, Marrow of a Bone is easily my favourite Diru album -- it only took a few listens for me to realise that. There's plenty of passion and a wide range of emotions, it just seems like people can't get past Kyo's screaming and growling. Some songs that are obviously emotional are "Conceived Sorrow," "Namamekashiki ansoku, tamerai no hohoemi," and "The Pledge." But one line in particular that gets me all the time is in "The Fatal Believer."
"Please grant me my small wish/骨の髄まで愛してくれ"
which translates to:
"Please grant me my small wish/love me to the marrow of my bones"
The first half of that is sung in Kyo's soft falsetto, then he launches into his distinct rabid bark for the second half. It's pretty amazing; I imagine someone faced with extreme desperation just from the way Kyo sings that line alone. Marrow is an amazing album.

@Yoko: I'm pretty sure people are just being idiots.
As for the whole name-meaning thing, I'm confused- hasn't the band been saying recently that "dir en grey" doesn't mean anything in particular, they just liked the sound of it? Unless everyone's just contemplating what it COULD mean if it does have meaning...but yeah, I've heard lots of different things as well so it's hard to say.
And I also rather like The Marrow of a Bone. Saishu, I agree, that's a great line. Do you know Japanese or did you find translations somewhere? :o
Saishu
Mar 13, 2007, 05:37
Michiko -- I studied Japanese for two years in college. After that I pretty much just started trying to teach myself. I don't know the language well, but I pretty much have the basics nailed down. When it comes to translations I just try my hardest to understand them then, when I can't, I look for words in the dictionary and try to piece them together so they make sense. It can be especially frustrating trying to translate Kyo's lyrics, but it's also fun at the same time.
Michiko-kitsune
Mar 13, 2007, 11:18
haha, I imagine his lyrics would be hella frustrating. I seriously admire you for trying. XD I never took classes or lessons, but I did used to know a fair bit more than I do now (college gets in the way of any of my own "independent studying", unfortunately) Anyway, I was just asking in case there was a site you could refer me to for the translations that I didn't know about. Oh well X3;
I think the whole "grey coin" thing was wrong, because the word "coin" isn't anywhere in the band's name. The latest translation for "dir en grey" that I've heard is "to you, in grey."
i know, thats why i said "Dir" doesn't mean coin. but i'm pretty sure the official chinese translation of the band was "Grey Coin" a long time ago. but it's been too long i don't know if they still use it, or was it me who remembered it incorrectly.
and regarding MOB, i'm not saying it's bad, but when i compare it to my favorite Vulgar it lacks something. i even said that i'm not sure if "passion" is the correct word to describe the missing something that i feel of. BUt again, maybe it's just me who feel this way.

about the name thing, I find it interesting that some people say its a play on the title "Dorian Grey". I don't know how similar they would sound when said in Japanese but there are certainly similarities when said in english (or the respective language it came from). It's most likely conjecture but the book itself was about the darkness and vileness of human nature so I think it suits them well hahaha.

Hmm...once again agreeing with Bloodlust in that I still think it's really weird. I guess maybe they'll come up with something else to do around the US later...
Anyway, thanks Riyko for posting linkage and pulling it out of rumor-dom. XD Too bad at that time I'll be heading over to the east coast...
Yoko, what are you talking about? We just had Diru a month ago. That is most definitely not "nothing", silly person XD
(And no, Kyo is not married. These types of things are more often than not rumors. If anyone in the band got married, I'm sure more than just a couple random internet people would know.)
From what I know is that the Deftones are planning on making a major announcement soon. If it is true and Diru is opening for them then more then likely it will be the whole tour and if so hopefully they'll go back up to Canada.
if kyo is married i doubt if he would act like that.i mean the fish hooking, self mutilation and everything it would shock his child.

Kyo would probably make a pretty good daddy. He doesn't strike me as the absent father kind of guy, and I think there is much more to him than the persona he presents to us. Fish hooking or not, his kids (should he ever have any) will probably be OK.

Okay so Deftones has now officially announced on their website that Dir en grey will be touring with them this summer. And some other band....
Deftones announcement (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=769597&blogID=243556423&MyToken=99f77182-5b95-431d-8532-b98657ca42fb)
They are going to be in Utah on June 23 and 24th, but I honestly wonder if they'll allow Diru to perform or if they'll be there doing nothing. (if you know how things are run in Utah then they are very against what kyo does to himself on stage). It sucks if Diru is really going to be with them, since I will be in Canada for schooling, but I could just fly back home to see them.
I really do hope they add Toronto as an upcoming tour date even though it's just their US tour, but still T_T

Blargh. I saw the Deftones live at the Summer Sanitarium tour and they were craptastic--they're a band who has a few okay songs ON THE CD and then don't measure up live.
But...if they're playing somewhere that doesn't drain my wallet...I might sacrifice my pride for Diru. And then just leave.

kyo will be a good father if ever,i am sure that he will not let the pain that he has suffered be experienced by his child, but if ever he will have kids i am sure he will mellow down a little (his actions sometimes shocks me but i so respect kyo both as a singer and as a person)

It's the same for me except they'll be in Utah when i'm away for college pfft.... that sucks too, but i'm thinking about flying home to see them since the shows are on a saturday and sunday I can go and come back for school before my tuesday classes start.

heya, new to the thread *waves*
I'm one of those that can't understand WHY Dir en grey would be touring as an opening band...they've already proven they can tour on their own, so...why? why why whyyyy?
and why can't they tour in my state? *sighs* the closest venue is in Georgia...
Ah well, as long as they're still doing anything I'm happy
i'm ok if they don't come up. when you think about it, i don't wanna pay $50 and see diru for 30mins. i paid around the same amount last time for the Inward Scream tour and i got to see them for 90 mins :okashii:
They are going to be performing for about 45-50 minutes this time.
Oh and Diru won't be joining the tour until June 6th so any show before that is just the deftones and fall of troy.

At least for this round, there's one opening band before Dir en grey. And the upside is if you really don't like Deftones, you can leave early or go buy merch since Dir en grey would have already played anyways. In my case, I'll be at the bar. I've seen Dir en grey from the front row a few times, and I am getting too old to be pinched by crazy fangirls.

I only saw the Deftones live once, and that was at Family Values. Now, granted, I think that outdoor venues don't carry sound as well as indoor ones, but Deftones just sounded like one big messy wall of noise. .
uhm.. thats what DeG sounds like live too.. :-)
anyone know if Dir en Grey and Defones are playing in Arizona?.. I think I may be the only person here that actually really likes the Deftones.. and seeing them with DeG would be a nice bonus.
Dir en grey won't be at the Arizona show since that show is May 11th and Dir en grey isn't joining the tour until June 6th.

Maybe I shouldn't have used the phrase "wall of noise." My point is that I couldn't make sense of anything when I saw the Deftones. It was a complete mess.

Sorry, didn't catch it.
Anyway I was at FVT with Saishu and the Deftones had really bad sound issues that night, where as all the other acts the night had no problems. So I think that's what he's refering to.

I LOVE the new album - Conceived Sorrow is simply magnificent and is already right up there for me with stuff like Obscure and Aint Afraid on my all time Diru list. Anyone who thought Kyo had lost his voice has been well and truly owned. I was a little surprised that ASOM was chosen as a single considering they had gems like Fatal Believer, Conceived Sorrow and Grief that would have made better releases I think. I also got the limited first press release and am loving the bonus CD - I have thought for some time that Diru should have released an unplugged compilation and am very pleased with what they have done on that bonus CD! :-)

I personally feel that if "agitated screams" wasn't released as a single and was just left to the album, i wouldn't like it as much, i guess i just listened to it a lot; over and over while waiting for the album to be released and it really grew on me.:relief:
Does' anybody like the remake of Clever sleazoid? I liked the original better, but i do really like the re-recording of ryoujoku no ame the lyrics are more pronounced and sound more clear.

I'd also say that I like the single version of Clever Sleazoid more. When I first heard the album version, I felt that it sounded as if it was being pulled through mud, whereas the single version, in comparison, pushes through the song a lot more powerfully (if that comparison makes any sense... X3;; )That's not to say I don't like the album version at all, though; I just happen to find the single version superior.

I agree. Admitedly, I've only heard a less than pristine version of the album one, but while it does have it's merits, I do find the single more appealing at this point. Still rocks, though. As far as I'm concerned, anything they touch is gold. Could be crap and probably wouldn't notice!

Dir en grey to Support the Deftones
28.03.2007 - Melony & Kay
source : deftones official site
artist(s) : Dir en grey
In addition to our previous news item about Dir en grey being the 'special guests' of a concert of the Deftones, on June 6th, it turns out that they will support the band during the rest of the tour as well.
They will join them from June 6th until June 28th. Next to Dir en grey, the American band The Fall of Troy will also join the Deftones.
For the tourdates and about how to order tickets, check out the official website of the Deftones.

Agreed on both counts - the album version of Ryoujoku is the better of the two versions, but the single version of Sleazoid is far superior to it's album version in my humble opinion - the choruses are better, as are the "Sky is deep and wide" lines. Some real good stuff on there, but I hope Die and Karou haven't completely abandoned the solos.... :(

As for Ryoujoku no Ame, I don't think I've listened to the album version enough to know which I like better at this point...

their new album is REALLY good!!
i love The pledge, and Conceived sorrow and most of all
Namamekashiki Ansoku, Tamerai ni Hohoemi x3!!

Kyo sang Repitition of hatred and The fatal beleiver it was so amazing <3
they also sang Obscure which is one of my fav songs :3

To be honest I have no problems with his voice on MOAB. I had worried after hearing ASOM that the whole album was basically going to be a scream fest, but he really pleasantly surprised me - especially with stuff like Conceived Sorrow (< O__O) and The Pledge - Kyo's voice isn't gone, its just being used differently with a few new surprises thrown in, like the high pitched squeals which are just fantastic
Wow, Hitsugi_love - you got to hear Obscure? Niiiiiiice. :-) It's probably my absolute favourite Diru song, that and FILTH - I can't choose! O_O
I've never seen them live but would go nuts if they played Obscure....

Obscure is a great song. i cant say if it is my fav or not(but i rly like it a lot >_<). For me their best is aint afraid to die . Music composed here is rly on a high level.Very emotional....
then i like mistu no tsuba /tsumi to batsu (it has 2 titles so i hope i wrote em right ^^;;;).
Also cage is interestin for Toshiya´s solo here.
MOAB is amazing. i saw DVD despair in the womb and conceived sorrow is *heart*. Also grief and Rotting root.
What i like about Dir en grey is that each album has a different sound. it is always hard for me to pick up one song when my friends ask me to do it cause they want to know their style.

btw i do like MOAB don't misunderstand me i just feel like kyo's voice is changing and that he can't do wt he could.... i dont know if its very clear ...anyway ignore that
i think the song i liked best in live was.....maybe increase blue....or obscure .....or child prey cause everyone's singing together and you can see they're pleased....or....merciless cult....gaaahhh i cant chose i think those guys are amazing in live anyway and i wish they'd come to france i dont know why they're snobbing us like that :( no fair :(:(

Agreed on both counts - Diru's ever changing/evolving style is part of what makes them utterly astonishing as artists - you could never acuse them of being stagnant or out of ideas.
Aint Afraid is also in my top five, a truly brilliant masterpiece. I actually had a dream about Kyo which had the closing piano phrase from Aint Afraid playing in the background. After I woke up I felt weird - kinda all warm and secure, if that makes any kind of sense

ANy camera operator that would stand that close to Kyo during a show must be incredibly dumb. At least Kyo's actions would boot the noob out of the gene pool! But I don't think it was a person, just a camera mounted on the stage. He threw the box thingy in Denver too. Just about took out a roadie... I laughed... so did the roadie.

Kyo would do fine in America. I just don't think he likes doing interviews.
Bloodlust
Apr 21, 2007, 06:02
Well, he so rarely does them, I would assume it's more personal preference than anything else. Besides, I'm sure he has enough class to not kick the crap out of an interviewer or destroy a set or something :p But he is scary. That's part of what makes him soooo yummy!

Since when it's sweet if you throw something at the camera?

Since he's Kyo. I don't think anyone in here judges him as harshly as the rest of society does. I like the gif... I don't think he meant to hit the camera, though.

yeah, I think he was just chucking it in the general direction of the camera, but not the camera itself. If anything, they stuck the camera there to get the shot of Kyo throwing the crate.

i bet shinya flinched XD and if totchi had wandered back there O.O ahahaha! *funny head pictures*
and he's just being kyo when he's on stage... i'm not sure he cares about or even is thinking about equipment while he's performing. i'm sure the roadies are used to it XD
EDIT: by the way i totally stole the gif and used it as a sig on another forum and everyone freaked out at its awsomeness. ^_^ except on my school forum... they thought it was a shopping cart XD XD XD

that gif was really awesome..when any other person would do that I would be scared but it's Kyo and he just acts like that on stage...and I have to admit it makes him sexy!!!!
and I'm pretty sure he didn't want to destroy the camera...he wanted just to throw something and didn't care about the direction^^

Kyo threw the crate in Shinya's direction in Denver and he didn't bat an eyelash. Plus some jerk threw a water bottle and just about hit both Kyo and Shinya and they didn't even seem to notice. Either they both have nerves of steel or they are too involved in performing to notice other things.
i guess they were too involved with their performance.that was so mean,if ever one of them was hit i am sure that vermin is dead by now

I'm not judging him. I just asked lol. It's not sweet for me, but that doesn't mean i don't like kyo. I'm just not so crazy about him and that doesn't mean i don't like him. I do. But i like his vocal and DeG music a lot more than members of the band. The music is important!! Not the looks and doings of the band.
If i, the simple mortal, would throw something at the camera, i would probably be marked as the worse human being on the planet. Well... who cares.
Bloodlust
Apr 23, 2007, 04:55
Well, I wouldn't think you were the worst, but I break stuff a lot so... but only my own stuff!
It's true, the music is what's important. Most of the time, that's all I concern myself with, but Kyo strikes me as a kindred spirit, so I take more notice.
Hehe, 'simple mortal'... I like that.
i love kyo, i love the sincerity of his voice and the passion he puts in his work,he doesnt care if his actions is taboo for others because he will do what he wants,he is true to himself and he is a very honest to himself.
i salute to kyo and the rest of DeG.

He definitely does not care what people think about his actions. Honesty is always the best policy, even with yourself. Kyo's the best. That's why I fly all over the place to see DEG perform!

Huh...
I was expecting to see posts about how Diru played Jealous -reverse- and an unplugged version of Zakuro at their 4/21 show. Then, last night, they apparently played Karasu.
This is all coming from setlist.com.
