yeah kyo is always honest to himself and i wish i cant do that too

That's what rocks about being the boss! I say I need a vacation, I see if it works with scheduling and I go. One of the most pertinant arguements for a college education!

I have to admit.. in my opinion in SOME pics kyo is alright.. even pretty.. but it's the whole of all the pictures and videos that i have seen that make me shudder sometime.. *L* like for instance.. Hopping on to the bandwagon, I've never thought of Kyo as very attractive (Kaoru or Toshiya? All over them.). But on that same token, the things that make him "ugly" are what make him so awesome to me. Clever Sleazoid? Obscure? Come on....Kyo ROCKS in those videos. And his crazy laughing and screaming...I can't listen to ZAN, dead tree, or Kodou without getting chills.

Kyo is definitely not sexy (unless he wears his Macabre outfit, hehe)...but his voice and antics make up for that twofold.

Reita-kun
Apr 28, 2007, 12:08
I have to agree with Japanimaniac! ^^ dead tree is my favourite song!!!

dakkii
Apr 28, 2007, 12:17
O.O i think kyo is sexy...

then again, i thought it was adorable when die took out his own heart in obscure. awww~ so cute! ^_~

but really, kyo is trying not TRYING to be sexy.. he WANTS to look hideous and ugly and personally i think he fails... except in saku. that... that is my exception. O.o

dakkii
Apr 28, 2007, 12:34
the shark O.O it's true!!

it looked like his eyes were coming out and his face was made of plastic and he was wearing a wig that was lopsided and coming off O.O and that child-molester smile... *hides under table*

i love you kyo, but that doesn't mean i'm not terrified of the idea of meeting you in a dark alley... especially when you're allowed to your own makeup. *TAKE IT AWAY FROM HIM!!*

but he's much better now... inward scream, anyone? sooooo sexy.... <3

kouji-sama
Apr 28, 2007, 12:39
*must defend Kyo*

My view on him changes from a cute little teddy bear to a sexpot all the time. And I tend to "forget" (read: in denial) about his little "experiments" with his look. Not to mention, his voice is just...aaaah so lovely. (Oh, and I love it when he wears flowy shirts).

For the sake of lists - I saw Totchi and Shinya being low on other people's lists so I have to remind them that they still have some love (j/k I know you all love them...how could you not? *puppydog face*).

My favorites are:

1-Kyo (of course)
2 and 3-Toshiya and Shinya (they switch constantly)
4 and 5-Die and Kaoru (usually Die is 4 and KaoKao is 5, but then Kaoru goes and does something amazing, so it switches...and then Die smiles, so it switches back ^-^)

Shinya:

ok then, serious discussion:

Thorns coiled around the sun
Regret melts with the mixture of a sigh
I spit and laugh at the dreams I've seen enough of
The hearts of men eaten by loneliness grows cruelly

It melts into the layers of white
Undesired
The shattered truth means the opposite
Love to the smile

The gloomy morning has already died
It's going far away, unable to reach
I want to fall asleep in the innocent gentleness with the tears

Lying about being pregnant is so carefree
The drowning tears in the pool made by a razor, taste vaguely sweet

The gloomy tomorrow has already died
I hated myself for not being able to forgive the tears, the lies and the love
But I can't go back

It's going far away, unable to reach
I want to fall asleep in the innocent gentleness with the tears
It just echoes beyond the red sky in the background
The cries can not be... heard anymore

interpret.
((lyrics to concieved sorrow, btw))

EDIT: and congrats on making it to 100! ...so far off...

I just think Dir en grey would have a problem with people posting ten-year old images of their visual kei days rather than discuss the actual music.

Japanimaniac
Apr 29, 2007, 23:22
Thing is, we used to have separate threads for all these different discussions, and they were so graciously combined into a singular Dir en grey thread (as were all the rest of the bands/artists). I could see the complaints if this were an actual j-rock forum...but...this is JRef. This is the only thread we have. Gotta make due, ya know?

Edit: No one complains about mass Gackt image posting.

Well, my "wtf" was in reference towards the fact that the thread seemed to be pretty quiet/normal. Then all of a sudden, for a few pages, it was like homg FANGIRLSPLOSION, o hay here's 500+ pics! But um, you don't have to apologize for posting just one pic every now and then. And I guess it's just my opinion that this place is suited just fine for discussion...being a forum and all. Even if it is just a smaller sub-forum among many others.

Hehe, want a prompt? Well, I can't recall if this has been discussed here (last week of school, scatterbrained, leave me alone XD ), but what are people's opinions of the unplugged disc from The marrow of a bone? As for me, although I really love the focus on the piano in Namamekashiki (piano gets me every time X3 ), my favorite of the three is Conceived Sorrow. Overall, it creates a really haunting atmosphere to me.

aaaaaaand go! XD

dakkii
Apr 30, 2007, 08:14
awsome! *resolved*

concieved sorrow sticks out to me the most... it gives me really cool/intersting images in my head. it's way different from what you'd expect from a typical "unplugged" version of a song. it is, like you said, haunting. like, defintion haunting >.> ... it's the most memorable, i think... and the most different from the original.

Namamekashiki- piano gets me too... i swear, with ain't afraid to die and jealous-reverse- and then yoshiki and gackt etc... i thought i'de get over it. but i didn't ;_; oh well! i think the unplugged version works with the song the best in this one... the original could have been in piano and been just as good... it especially works well as a contrast to the scream at the end. also, i like it because you can hear the overwhelming emotion in kyo's voice... at the end of the original both the guitars and kyo's voice get loud at the end (which is awsome) but the guitars drown kyo out a tiny bit... so it's basically ridiculously strong with the piano. it also just gives the right feel.

THE PLEDGE- it's nice. i like it a lot. you can tell the same sort of thing with the emotion in kyo's voice as namamekashiki... but i def. perfer the original... but it's still amazing.

overall.... i love it more than my pet kitten (which is a lot), and i love the songs they picked, but... concieved sorrow, namablahblah (i'm really lazy), and THE PLEDGE were all kind of easy choices to 'unplug'. i would have loved to here what unplugged ASOM would sound like (or one of the others like that)... though i'm not sure it can be done XD oh well, if anyone could do it, it would be diru.

:-)

The unplugged version of Conceived Sorrow is definitely my favourite on there. The build up with the string section gives me chills everytime.

hehe, Agitated Screams of Maggots unplugged? That would be interesting.

For a lot of the album, I think the vocals are overall too harsh for an unplugged version, which I suppose has something to do with why they picked the three that they did. Hmm, what about Disabled Complexes? Kyo's pretty toned down in that song for the most part. Not sure how it would sound, though... X3;

er.. hi? O.o"

just tot i'd check out Diru's thread in this forum but apparently there's some kinda arguement goin on? not that i'd want anything to do with it, demo... c'mon guys.. chill! its nice that people are sharing photos and stuff. unless they start goin all squeally & nutty over the photos(publicly, as in posting their squealing?)... then it starts getting fan-girlish. *shudders*

well.. THE PLEDGE. great lyrics, the tune has a nice, smooth flow.. right on the top of my list. oh, GRIEF & CONCEIVED SORROW are also on my list.
& i most definitely still like the songs which were previously released singles, Clever Sleazoid (in 2005) & ryoujoku no ame (in 2006)...

Damn, seeing the posts about the unplugged stuff really made me want to listen to it, but as I scan my iTunes I find I haven't added it yet. I must be loosing my mind. Time to find it elsewhere for now.

Also yeah I've got to agree with some of the posts above. This forum went WAY too fan girl for a few pages. I love the occasional pics and am used to a scream here and there but dear lord.

Also anyone going to the new york show in June?

mae2606_kiyomi
May 1, 2007, 01:47
Actually, there was no arguement going on. Just because Saishu and I commented that we thought the pictures and fangirl stuff got to be a little much doesn't mean there was any hostility on either side.
See? XD Everybody's friends here.

that's nice to know ^_^
i'd been to a couple of forums where users split cos of quarrels.. really got on my nerves cos when i tried to salvage the situation i got pulled into their quarrels... after that they split themselves into groups & i really couldnt be bothered anymore.

& yea, its just like IkaruJaki said.. the occasional scream is fine with me too.
well for me, pics are great cos i'd love to look at pictures of the group whose musical talents i admire. i just feel like something's missing though if i didnt know how they looked like especially when i listen to their songs all the time. its nice to see them in a new look or some new costumes from photo shoots or PVs & concerts from time to time. cept that Diru prolly wont have new costumes cos they've stopped doing visual. xD
but that doesnt matter, they're still great.

I also don't mind SOME pictures occasionally, but sometimes it just becomes a mess to scroll through. Also, I sometimes am using my school's wireless, which does not have the best connection, and having more than like 3-4 medium/large images on a page makes my browser go "UH NO, GTFO" at me. XD
Anyway, not trying to run this into the ground or anything, just wanted to make sure we're all on the same page here. Looks like we are, though, so yay!
IkaruJaki, you missing your unplugged songs? D: That makes me sad. And no, I won't be in New York but I'll be at the Minneapolis (Maplewood) show...

since some of you guys are still discussing the new album, here's my take after 2 months....

namamekashiki ansoku...(piano ver) is the best song in the album. the rest is sort of a blur to me other than namamekashiki, clever sleazoid, conceived sorrow...honestly i've only listened to the album from track 1 til the end for like twice......to me i just don't have the interest to play the whole disc....i tend to pick out songs for this release.....

^WOW DUDE WE HAVE LIKE THE SAME NAME!!! *trippyyyy*

Concieved Sorrow is pretty much amazing... i cried the first time i heard it (i guess i was overwhelmed with the awsomeness of both the song AND a new diru release...) and at first, a lot of the songs blurred together for me... and i kind of felt like they were selling out. but i listened to it anyways, since i hated gauze the first time thru even though it's... gauze, and i love it with all my soul now. after listening a couple times, i tried to listen to something else (because i thought MOAB was getting me depressed) but i just... couldn't. i physically could not listen to anything else for at least a week... even now, the more i listen to it, the more i see its depth and genius. at first i wasn't sure, because with all of diru's releases i see such amazing colors, but with MOAB it was all a dull/blunt black... but as i listened to it, i realized that the colors were definately there, seeping out of the blackness... kind of like when the sun is too bright and you see this blunt dark red and feel dizzy for a moment... it's like that red (well, different colors within the album, but like that consistacy, if colors can have a consistancy... O.o) sorry i'm speaking in colors... i'm a visual person/synesthesic [is that the right tense?]

anyways, those are my *brief* [:p ] thoughts on MOAB... as for favorite tracks, at this moment, ryoujoku no ame, concieved sorrow, namablaaaaaah, ASOM, THE PLEDGE, Rotting Root, and THE DEEPER VILENESS... i'm forgeting something :souka: oh well...

ah yes.. the acoustic version is just so... depressing? lols.. its great. u should listen to it. somehow alot of people are saying how disappointed they are bout this album and stuff. i cant say that all the songs are good but what i can say is that i really like the album in general.

I finally managed to listen to Marrow of a Bone too!!
And I have to say I really like it...especially Conceived Sorrow caught my heart straight from the beginning. It's such a touching sound and Kyo's voice makes me shiver. Also Namamekashiki... is a great song!! I like the whole album. I heard a lot of people say that Kyo's voice got worse, but I don't think so. Of course his voice changes but I don't think he can sing worse than on the other albums. I even admire him for reaching those very high pitches (I sing myself and I know how hard it can be to reach high pitches and for a man it must be even more difficult). His voice didn't lose its ability to make the listeners feel his desperate, rage and also sensibility (at least for me^^). I think that this is a good album.
o.O I didn't know that there were any acoustic versions!!!...I have to find them!!

Toto looks really cute with those bunny-ears :giggle:

to following up what i've said earlier in this page, i think The Pledge acoustic kicks butt too.

it's just that Kyo expresses alot alot alot more emotions in slower songs that doesn't have him screaming throughout.

acoustics man......diru's magic lies in there but they tend to not do it much now.....

Hm~ I don't think so.
Of course, your right--- but i think, you are just, when you point Kyo. Because "Diru" haven't got to do anything with those songs.
These three bonus tracks on marrow are really great and they sound very emotional, but it's just... kyo. maybe it's Die or Kao who is playing the Guitar, but it's not all Diru...
You know what I mean?
I think, to say what is Diru and what isn't is very difficult. Because they're able to do both: Calm, slow and touching songs and also depressing, hard, agressive songs... Or they just got both in one like in Dead tree for example.

I just don't think, you can say, that this accoustic versions are Diru, because not everyone of them has a part in it, when you hear it...

And I really adore Marrow of a bone. It's a great album. I think it's a mix of Kisou and Withering~ it sounds really, really good to me~

the entire band had a hand in each of the unplugged songs... whether writing them in the first place or rearranging them (did shinya play piano by the way?) ... it isn't their main body of work, but i do think it's a part of all of them... i see what you mean, though. it's also true that the emotion in kyo's voice is more prominent and easy to hear in the acoustic versions... but i think i perfer the originals in the end. ^_^

i got 2 different versions of THE PLEDGE lyrics... i was wondering what other people got so i can see which is more accurate... tank ya!

I'm personally not a huge diru fan -but- I would never put them down. a few pages earlier I was poking fun at Kyo but honestly I would never really come onto a thread dedicated to a band and talk smack about them. thats just wrong. I mean if you don't like the band at all then don't come on the thread. nobody asked you here and nobody on here cares what you think.
well thats my two cents worth. rock on all of you, and remember without the fans the band's wouldn't make it as far as they have.

hmm...in some way I think Kyo even shows more emotion with his screaming than in his slow songs (it's just that I first pay attention to the slower songs and then to the faster ones :p)
lately I could really feel his desperate and anger during this songs. Screaming is his way to express what he feels and he does it very well. These songs touch my heart too, but in another way than the slower songs do. It's kind of hard to explain but sometimes I just feel more connected to the fast songs and his screaming.

@yuna_leska

:D yeah I know those situations...my mom often stares at me like I was a crazy person (wait...I am a crazy person:p)

@dakkii
I think such people aren't real fans and don't think before they talk. Either you dislike a band, but then you leave it and its fans alone, or you like the band and don't protest against it. And if you really dislike something by a band you like, you should have good reasons and act mature and not found a "protest" group. Plus I'm sure it hurted Diru in some way that "fans" are against their album, on which they worked hard and in which the put a lot of emotion.

I totally agree. It doesn't really have to be a fast song, and the song I MOST connect with (The Final) doesn't have any screaming really (besides the one quick one), but his screaming has sooo much emotion behind it. Again, I'll bring up dead tree and Kodou. The two screams towards the end of Kodou...I can't help but shiver. They are my most favorite Kyo screams ever (does that sound weird?).

I can't help but pretend I'm the one screaming whenever that part comes around. I know I look like a freak. Ah well. There just seems to be so much feeling behind those two screams, and they are so perfectly placed within the song. I actually don't like the video because of that...the long pause ruins the intention to me.

But...yeah, hehe. Basically, I agree. :relief: :p

i like the song version of kodou more, of course, but i like the way they did it for the pv... i was totally expecting the scream, and then it wasn't there... which makes you stop for a second and focus completely on the pictures (dead school girl thrown out of car... kid going to jail... wasn't that the same kid in saku, by the way?) and connect everything that happens in the pv (if you hadn't already, i guess)... it just makes it dramatic. but more importantly, the scream then comes out of NOWHERE, giving it more power, i think ^_^ it also helps that the timing it perfect.
and about fast songs vs. slow songs... this is a cop-out answer, but every diru song is totally loaded with emotion... they are just different emotions. in my earlier diru years, i thought certain songs were more emotional than other songs because i related to them more... but since then every once in a while, i would listen to a certain song when i was in a certain mood and it would all just click into place... so now almost every song has a special meaning to me... which makes it hard to listen to other music sometimes XD

EDIT: oh and the scream thing is the most normal thing in the world. i, too, am totally incapable of NOT kodou screaming at the end ^_^ also i have to sing the "wo-oh"s in child prey... and the chorus of clever slezoid... and our favorite part of ASOM (hint: makes people around you turn around with a horrified expression ^_~)

This brings up an interesting topic: what specific parts of Dir en grey songs can you not help but sing along to? A couple of good ones were mentioned already ("So I can't live" from The Final and the chorus to Clever Sleazoid), but I have a few others.

"todokanai hanare te shimau/kegare no nai yasashisa ni namida to nemuritai" -- Conceived Sorrow

"Kill them all with the crazy hammer and destroy their thoughts/get hysterical!" -- The Fatal Believer

"chikau kotoba mo nai nagasu mo kare te/tonight I go mad" -- Disabled Complexes

All the melodic lines in Saku

The chorus to Marmalade Chainsaw

heh... all of Macabre (the song, not the album)

Japanimaniac
May 5, 2007, 04:18
Quite a few lines in Machiavellism are definite additions to that list, too. Not to mention the chorus.

"Showtime! haha, showtime."

"My comupance, your ignorance. Uuugh!"

"Please come to the last gasp with me. My Pleasuuuuure!"

mae2606_kiyomi
May 5, 2007, 04:39
ah.. for me the all-time sing along is definitely Kodou.. its like i've heard the song so many times over that i can prolly sing along to it (cept for kyo's screams which are so d*** impossible to do)

as for the other songs, well, they've already been mentioned by others.. (ok.. i'll admit that i'm just plain lazy to type.. since they're all already listed just scroll up =P)

"Kill them all with the crazy hammer and destroy their thoughts/get hysterical!" -- The Fatal Believer

There's also:
"Psycho killer" -Disabled Complexes
"spark and spark" -the IID empire
"saikou no BARAADO wo okurou" -Beautiful dirt
"Dead freedom!" - C
"hurry up! hurry up! wrist-cut show!" - machiavellism.

dakkii
May 5, 2007, 15:02
yes! i can't help but sing ALL of machiavellism and the "demo..." (and the rest of that line) leading into the chorus of the final... also:
-"in my head a blue fish has just died" -MR NEWSMAN
-"check it up 1 2 3 4 5 are you ready" -MR NEWSMAN
-"kill" -GDS
-"FOOCHA" -domestic fxxker family
-[random screaming] -obscure
-chorus in ryoujoku no ame... especially the held-out note
-"i don't even think of you as my friend" -THE DEEPER VILENESS
-that beginning scream in saku [and the rest of it too...]
-i always sing "good morning" [in english, not the japanese it's supposed to be in] at the end of kodou... i love that last stanza so much... i love that whole SONG so much (but all of you know ^_^ awsome-sauce)

more later? *sleepy time*

mleh, it's not the end of the world if they're all fake.
Well, I just get worried that if a lot of people assume that when they see Myspaces of members, thinking they're real, they will take something from what's written there and claim it as something coming directly from one of the band members when in actuality it's just some crap that a random person made up. Like, I didn't look at the ones posted above, but there are some where people sent in questions to the "members" and they were answered on the Myspace pages - and people commenting really took them seriously. Now, if they AREN'T legit, as is probably the case, now there's a bunch of people thinking they've got some sort of exclusive info from the band members.

Yeah, it's probably not a large enough amount of people to actually affect much, but junk like that is perfect material for the beginning of dumb rumors/ band "facts" getting passed around. And that's never fun.

(Sorry for any grammar/spelling errors I may have overlooked; just got finished with my last class and I'm 100% burnt out. XD )

i saw them live on the last night of inward scream in san francisco <3 it was so funny, because it was the last night, the roadies were harrassing the opening bands XD one of them dressed up in a wrestling mask and stood behind the drummer and threw ice cubes at him :p sometimes he hit the actual drums and screwed him up, too... the drummer looked so mad, but he couldn't do anything... and then for the second opening band, the roadies just came on stage during the second to last song and started taking the drums off stage and striking the equipment... AND i looked up at the balcony and, during all this, kaoru and die were watching from up there and laughing really hard!!! die's smile is RIDICULOUSLY amazing... and kyo poked his head out for a second and laughed too O_O best moment of my life...

but ANYWAYS, Dir en grey is one of those bands you HAAAAAVE to see live... childprey i hope you can go!!! make sure you're not doing anything important the next day, because when i went, i headbanged so hard i couldn't move for literally the next 3 days, and my neck was sore the rest of the week! of course, i'm an extreme case, but it's difficult to restrain yourself! <3 <3 <3 <3!!!!! yea... i'm hoping to see them with deftones back in san francisco... i'm coming back from japan that day, so i'm hoping my mother can change the flight so we fly into san francisco instead of LA, and i *lied* and said my friends are going (really they're just people i met from forums like these... she wouldn't let me go if i told her because, according to her, everyone on the internet is a rapist O_O)

*loooong post... oh well, i need an outlet! i've been studying for APUSH all day :relief: *

I think that was very idiotic of the roadies to harrass the support bands! I really hate it when some people just ruin live shows no matter what band is headlineing! I just hope the show at Wacken will be fun though^^ I saw Moi Dix Mois in germany last year and I am a huge fan of them, so in my oppinion I doubt that Dir en grey wil overcome that show! Though I love dir en grey^^

Got my wacken tickets yesterday too btw!! Im soo happy! The tickets are awesome and I am getting soo smashed on the way down and at the festival.. though Ill try to stay sober during the bands i REALLY want to see^^;;;

May 10, 2007, 19:15
fureya eriku XD yes, stay sober.. trust me getting drunk at a festival
while the band you want to see is playing, not a good idea :relief:

yeah harassing the roadies aint always funny... (altough diru tough differently
of it that moment :P ) diru has to tour with those cranky band members right?

@dakki: thanks for the post! the more reviews the better... for those
cant see them live :-) so we (i) can enjoy it too.
please review the concert in san fransico too!

@ChildPrey
no I've never seen them before...nor any other j-rock band...that will be my first j-rock live...and I'm sooooo hyper about it!!!!!*jumps around*
@Fureya Eriku
I just give you a short advice (since I live in Germany and I know how they behave^^). On that wacken festival will also play other bands, that means there will be probably a lot of people there who have never seen dir en grey. And Germans tend to dislike things (especially when it comes to music) they don't like or don't know (I'm already known as the girl with the strange music at my school -.-). And when it comes to japanese bands they're even more intolerant. I don't wanna scare you, normally German people are nice people^^(like me :p) But just don't care if there comes someone saying that dir en grey is crap or that he/she hates them. He/She has maybe never seen/heard them before and just dislike them because they are different. And Germans like to compare japanese bands with Tokio Hotel (I don't know if you know them...be happy if you don't). Just ignore those stupid people and have fun!!!(there happened a lot of things since I've started to listen to j-rock and since my classmates have known that...I just don't wanna happen those things to you. Even when you are just one day in Germany, but it's such a special day!!) So HAVE FUN!!!!! No matter what some people might say about Diru!!!!! (I hope I didn't scare you :worried:) Just enjoy the concert...and I hope you will meet some nice people!!!!!

Fureya Eriku
May 11, 2007, 17:55
@ Black Soul Well I have been to germany twice. Once was just for a night stopp for some hours and another was at the Moi Dix Mois concert.. People are like that with music here aswell.. they just think "like omg those faggot japs bands blablabla" and I dont give a sodd.. heh.. looking the way I do I especially have to learn not to care what crap you get from others^^

And I will try to stay sober and I will enjoy all the shows I want to see^^ And especially Dir en Grey, LAcuna Coil, Therion, Chtonic etc..

And unnfortunately I know of Tokyo Hotel... What a jrock wannabe greenday rippoff! (Though Im a bit weak for the use of german in songs^^;;;;)

ChildPrey
May 11, 2007, 19:09
omg, tokio hotel sucks so much... IMO... so bad... the singers voice is so lame... and be compairing Dir en grey to them is like compairing,..ehm , can't think of anything, but something really good to something bad :P lol

My fav song is "Cage" and well I dont really have a fav member, I like them all sooo much~
I was wondering if anyone could help me with some things..
Could someone tell me what is Dir En Grey's latest PV and maybe post a pic of their latest look?

May 13, 2007, 08:52
Ah yes, I'd have to add Zan to my list as well. In fact, Zan would be the opening track if I ever compiled a CD of Diru songs.

Also, I can't forget Kodoku ni Shisu, Yueni Kodoku. I remember not liking it very much when I first heard it, but there's something so distinct about it. In a sense, it kind of sums the band up in terms of their sound.

I wouldve listed more but I just put the ones Ive been listening to the most recently. Diru really is amazing <3
Lol that was a bit random..
I have a question about Die.
What is his current hair color? Some have told me its still red but others say its brown.
From those pics it looks brown but yeah...im kinda confused xD

dakkii
May 13, 2007, 14:50
it's red. it's always red ^_^ i speak from seeing the godly-red-die-hair in feb. at inward scream... before that it was half red and half black (i'll upload pics when i'm *not* so lazy... plus, i wanna watch 'despair in the womb' right noe =3 diru has such a way of naming things XD oh well... i need to get it all out, since i've spent this whole day watching 'america's next top model' and trying to forget about as much US history as possible... -Obscure
-Saku

HAha! yeah thats right! I dont have much favorite songs of this band. If you ask me about Malice Mizer or Moi Dix Mois in those topics, I could like fill a page!
Still.. I just cant wait to see them! I will probably go crazy and jump straight in the pit(if there are any, which is highly possible since its wacken):-)

hmmmm I'd have to say that my all time fav songs are:
-CONCEIVED SORROW
-CLEVER SLEAZOID
-Lie buried With a Vengance
-Grief
-THE III D EMPIRE
-The Final (I'm obsessed with the PV)
-Ain't Afraid to Die
and The Fatal Believer

btw can anyone confirm or not the fact that die has snake pattern tatoo on the hand?
and does anyone know if kyo has new tatoos except for the one below his ear?
and one more question about tatoo (XD) what does kaoru's tatoo look like now co i saw pic of his forearm he got tatooed in paris (i think) but i know it goes way past the elbow now wt does it look like?

Die has a snake print tattoo on his right hand. The only new tattoo of kyo's I know of is the one on his neck that he got done during Family Values last August. Kaoru has a full sleeve on his left side, it goes all the way to his chest.

dakkii
May 14, 2007, 14:01
what is with the end of akuro no oka anyways?!? i always think they cut the songs wrong or something, because i know the last part is supposed to be gauze -mode of eve-, and the labeled track of -eve- is only like 3 seconds... but they couldn't have screwed up that badly, right? grrrrr... it bothers me every time, because that little "brrring" that is gauze-mode of eve- comes up on shuffle and every single time i just stop and think "WTF IS THAT?!?"

...geez, i didn't know i had so much pent up anger on this subject... :relief: *is slightly scared of self*

Saishu
May 15, 2007, 05:49
I'm pretty sure the end of Akuro no Oka is Gauze -Mode of Eve- and the final track is just the last four seconds. If you notice, the time on your CD player will starting counting down instead of up when it gets to that part in Akuro. For some reason they chose to do it that way. It can't be a mistake, otherwise they would have fixed it for later pressings.

woot 24ko! Love every minute of it. When i'm bored I always watch their performance of it from 5 Ugly Kingdom lol.

Sometimes I think Kisou is my favorite Diru albums cuz of songs like 24ko, Undecided, Mushi, embryo, bottom of death valley. But then other times I
think Vulgar is my favorite because of audience killer loop, obscure, drain away, child prey, kasumi...etc..

The posts in this thread keep shifting backwards. What's being deleted? And why?

When the threads get old, many of the links do not work and the pictures disappear(just a red X);those get deleted. Then the posts that refer to the deleted ones make no sence, so they get deleted. There are hundreds of posts about ticket sales that are worthless to save.Posts that are considered off topic chit chat get deleted(use the chat room or PM's please). When you get done "house cleaning" many posts are gone, but it is easier to go back and read the old posts. I try real hard not to delete a post that has anything about the band in it.

Well that makes sense. It's just been freaking me out because it's been happening steadily over the past two weeks or so.

From when I start till I finish a thread takes about 1 month. I read every post all the way through and test each link to make sure they work. I average 1 to 2 hours a day reading the posts. If there is anything good in the post I try to make sure I don't delete it. The posts about tickets are the worse I think. First you have two weeks of posts wondering when tickets go on sale, then two weeks of people saying they ordered theirs, then two weeks of "did you get yours yet", then a bunch of "I don't need my ticket, anyone want to buy it, LOL. This thread had about 1000 such posts because of the 2 different tours that took place. The other ones I got rid of are the silly rumors that get posted about; Sue's sister's friend's brother heard such and such on another website, and then there are 20 posts fighting over the rumor.
Anyway, I spend a lot of time trying to make the thread easy for new people to go back over. I'm sorry if your post count goes down, but sometimes you just can't save a post.

Precious4e: I don't know if it was for me, but I was asking for tattoo pics a while ago. So... Thanks! I adore these pics! Does that one say "Japanese Zombie Hero" or am I crazy? Anyone know what the rest of Die's looks like? I've only ever seen the part on his hand.

Yup Kaoru's tat says "Japanese Zombie Heroez"
And as far as I know, Die only has that snake print tat on his hand. Dunno if there's more.

Well, writing a letter and meeting them differs, thanks, Amita, for adress, though I'm not sure if I have guts to write a letter either.. :bluush:
I would like to write more than "omg, I love you, you're my idol and you've changed my life!!", but then I don't even know what to write, as everything looks silly... I guess something similar would be meeting them in real, I would become so excited that either I couldn't say a word or say some nonsence that later I would be ashamed of.
P.S. that's probably the first time then I want to write fanmail, it surprises me that there have never been a band that I would have liked as much as I like Dir en grey.

lol ya it is very hard! I have so much to say to them, but when I get the chance (example, to send a letter), my mind goes blank!

I went and asked at my local Blockbuster! The first time I went, the guy said he couldn't find it, then I went back one day and saw that they actually had it on the shelf! I went back to the counter and the new guy couldn't figure out why the other guy couldn't find it. It's not in my hands yet, but it's a start. CD Japan sells it, but I don't think it has subtitles and it's a zone 2. I couldn't find it at Amazon last time I was there. It's a hard one to get ahold of for some reason.

On the subject of gifts: If Shinya's dog is still alive (I'd make sure before I sent anything - might break his heart) you could get him something for him (her?). There are some adorable websites out there. Yes I dress up my dogs... stop laughing. My Pit Bull is gonna be a pink bunny this Halloween! Does that make me more scary? PM me and I'll put together some links if you're interested. Other than that, not a clue.

@ Amita: Thank you :]

@andie
ah sorry...that was a mistake!!! I watched the video again and the didn't talk about this tatoo...you can only see the "japanese zombie hero" tatoo
but if you want the video anyway tell me, I'll send it to you^^

writing a fan-letter to your stars is really hard. Cause you have such strong feelings for them, which you can't really express without sounding like a fool and I feel some kind of strange telling people that they mean so much to me, although they don't know me. In my fanletter to Aoi I wrote how much Gazette's music mean to me, in which way it changed my life and so on. I think the best thing is to try to describe your feelings and what their music means to you.
I would really like to spend a day with Diru, especially with Kyo. Although I adore Toto and Die, I think I could get along with Kyo the best. I have the feeling that our personalities (as far as I know his through songtexts and interviews) are very similar. But in fact I would just stand in front of them, not able to talk anymore :p

I see quite many people here like shinya.. Actually he wasn't my favourite, especially in the beginning, mainly because of his girlish looks (sorry, sorry!!). But the more I watch dir en grey videos, the more I like Shinya, he is so into his drums while on the show... just comes one word -cool  Of course, I'm not a specialist or anyone to tell if he plays well or not, I just like the sight of him playing, e.g. in the "it withers and withers" dvd, "obscure", "dead tree" :relief:

dakkii
May 31, 2007, 03:11
yea shinya is pretty crazy on the drums (welcome to the diru thread, monnichi!)... in the recent TV show exerpt thingy (the inward scream tour) he did something to his shoulder... i'm not sure if it was sprained or something else... but he kept playing for the whole tour.

wow, you're really lucky
I have really no idea how I would react, if I ever met them...I don't think I would scream or giggle...I think I would just stand there not able to say a word anymore^^...but I think I would try to act pretty normal, since I really respect them as persons AND as musicians!!!!

Shinya seems to forget anything around him while he's playing...but I think that's pretty normal for persons who love music and make music (I also forget sometimes the world around me while playing the guitar^^). It shows that he's serious with the music and that he loves it!!

@ monnichi I love when Shinya plays the drums! I love how he moves his entire body as he plays (well most of his body)! In the PV for the Final (I'm in love with that PV) I love the way his hair goes flying in every direction (well not in EVERY direction)

oooooooohh! i nominate Sadie too!!!! But I wish they'd come to Canada again. They came last time....and I was kinda fighting with my parents so I couldn't go. But if you really think about it, they probably wont come back because not many ppl here are into J-rock. It's all 'gangsta' ppl. Also, they came when it was FREEZING. Now it's BOILING.....the weather's so messed up here.

Saishu
Jun 3, 2007, 06:38
I'm sure they'll come back to North America. Especially since Kaoru claims that tour is what sort of kept them from breaking up the band. Honestly, their music has changed to appeal to more than just the Japanese culture, so I think they'll be back.

Jun 3, 2007, 13:39
yea it makes sense toto would be recruited, since yoshiki is partially responsible for them getting popular/releasing gauze... plus he is kickass... plus even more people would show up to see him... it really IS a superband, huh? but totchi would only be a guest, and if anything interfeared with a diru tour, he would dump it. they have all stated that they are Dir en grey and Dir en grey only... i don't think they'll ever break up and do different stuff. Dir en grey is too strong for a follow-up.

Oh, diru working on a new single? Could someone give a link, I haven't seen that information anywhere... I wonder what they're going to change in style in the next releases, their music becomes harder and harder(well, not everything, but...), some softer sounds would be wonderful :-)
P.S. dakkii thanks for welcoming, seems like there are some really nice and interesting people here
