View Full Version : Dir en grey
It's just Yoshiki, Gackt, Miyavi, and Sugizo.
but they need a bassiiiiiiiiiist *whines* i was thinking kisaki for a while but i have no clue... it would be LAME if they didn't have a bassist...
i don't THINK they're coing out with a new single... i was just wishing they would T_T *sadness*

i hope they release something new. I dont want tmoab to be their last album.
it was good but...ahh i want more diru ><
And yes dakkii it would be extremely lame if they dont get a bassist.
I hope they release another song like Conceived Sorrow or the Pledge! I really like those songs...
i dont think he would leave diru i mean they are soo huge why leave now, that would me suicide

I don't think that Toshiya would leave Dir en Grey ever!!!
They are together now for 10 years in the same line-up and I think that they have a strong connection between them!!!
I don't think either that he will join that super band. Of course he's a fantastic bassist and he would be very good for that band, but in my opinion he doesn't really fit to this band, especially to Gackt and Miyavi. But you never know and it would be his descision!! But I really doubt it.
Oh, well I figured maybe, like, Gackt or Sugizo could play bass.
I dunno.

If anyone here didn't see the Yoshiki interview on JaME from the second night of JRock Rev, he said himself that they haven't made any decisions on a bassist yet. Deep breaths, people. XD

yes it probably only a rumer, toshiya belongs in dir en grey i mean without him i doubt it would be the same even if diru didnt break up afterwards and got a new bassist.

I really hope Toshiya isn't sucked into Yoshiki's band >__<
He's meant for dir en grey and no other band!!
The way he plays bass can only be played in Dir en grey
with Kaoru and die's guitaring, shinya's druming and kyo's amazing voice combined ;o;
we'll just have to wait and see if its true or not...
People, people, you should also take into consideration that musicians can participate in more than one project without leaving their original band. If Toshiya does end up playing with SKIN, it doesn't mean he's left Dir en grey.
^yesss!!! TOSHIYA. ISN'T. LEAVING. @_@ *speculation nearly caused a mass-suicide, there* i was just *guessing* in my own little head that he would be a guest in SKIN... but that means like meeting up for a week to record for them and that's IT. and that's dakkii's head. *breathes in and out* okie all better >_>
so anyone in europe, how did the kick-off of the diru tour go? (did it kick off yet? O_O dunno...) i need a detailed description of die's hair XD *kidding... but one would be nice* XD
I don't think the European tour started yet. They're just about to start touring with the Deftones if they haven't started already.
yea i thought so but some of my friends were talking like it had O_o thank you for clearing that up!

They'll be touring the states again starting tomorrow!
i'll be going to see them on saturday...woo hoo! I would have went to their friday show also if I didn't have work >= (
well...at least it makes up for missing JRev
and about Toshiya and SKIN......yea I can't see Toshiya as part of that band...he doesn't seem to fit lol. Or maybe it's because all the Diru members just seem so perfect together that it's weird to picture them anywhere else. Who knows......I think Yoshiki wants to tour the US soon with his new band so maybe i'll get a chance to see them in action
LUCKY PRECIOUS4E!!! i can't go... i'm in japan when they come near me XD irony~

Jun 5, 2007, 13:39
^aW that does suck
for their deftones tour though there hasn't been much hype/excitement about it. I haven't really heard much forum goers talking about it....they were probably too busy thinking about JRev
i know a bunch of people talking about it >_> but i also know a ton of people who are sitting this one out, but i think it's important to go and cheer diru on especially when they're most likely not going to get a bunch of fans there... so dakkii points for precious4e!!

I think the European tour starts in the end of July/beginning of August. They'll play in Sweden on August 7th..

Jun 5, 2007, 21:31
Yeah, I think a lot of people are deeming it "not worth it" as Diru is just an opening band. Well, if that's the way some people see it, that's fine and all, but to me it's not much different in the end. Hey, still get to see them play, right? Even if it is for shorter and it's not really "all about them" that night.
I'll be seeing them on the 17th, and I'm pretty excited, whether or not others are. : D
Precious4e
Jun 5, 2007, 21:41
^ yea..but it's like the same thing as FVT. They will probably play for around the same time. Maybe a little shorter but I doubt it'll be that short of a set. Diru is my favorite band so whenever they come my way i'm going to see them lol.
Michiko-kitsune
Jun 5, 2007, 23:25
Oh, I know their set will be shorter...but even like at JRR, the first night, nearly every band had only around a 5 song set, and even though I of course wanted more, it was still a satisfying amount for me. XD
i hope that their tour with deftones would showcase more of dir en grey
Hi! Ok, I'm guilty, I disappeared for a long time... so hi to old friends and hi to new ones! ^_^;;;
So I can't go to the NYC shows because I'm stuck working 40 hours in 3 days that weekend. However, I arranged to have Thursday off, so I get to see them in Worcester. ^_________^ Anyone else going to that show? Want to meet up? I'm stuck going by my lonely self since all my friends went home for vacation. There's a chance I'll only stick around 'til the end of the Diru part of the show and then take off. I don't know anything about deftones or the other bands, so ehh. Well, PM me if you want to meet up.

The setlist for the RI show that Diru played last night is said to be:
1. Concieved Sorrow
2. Ryoujoku no Ame
3. The Pledge
4. The Final
5. Lie Buried With A Vengeance
6. Rotting Root
7. Repitition of Hatred
8. Grief
9. Agitated Sreams of Maggots
10. Namamekashiki
11. Dead Tree
I can't believe how many songs they are playing!! I'm so excited now

If the setlist is indeed true (I heard about it as well elsewhere today on Intarnetzland), then I am very happy. Much better than the 5 or so songs I was originally thinking it would be.
If you're going to any of their shows on this tour, beware of Deftones fans... they're vicious, cruel, rude, dishonest, stupid, and trollish. (ok, there might be a few nice fans, but if you're at the front of the pit, do take care.)
I've been to plenty of concerts, so this isn't just a wimp writing complaints. Seriously, I was yelling that I felt sick and wanted to get out of the pit. And people just stood there or pushed against me even more. I couldn't get out of the pit until one of the staff pulled me up and out. I can further complain about the fans, but ehh, concerts often are rough. Just that part about being sick and not being let out upset me. What happened to humanity?
On a brighter note, Diru's performance was the average usual. Don't ask me about the set since I'm so bad at remembering which songs exactly they played. It doesn't help that I've been listening to a lot of their music lately, and I'm easily confused. -_-; No blood sadly. Kyo did wrap his left arm behind his back and scratched at his side. That was actually pretty hot... ^_^; I thought he was going to scratch himself to the point of bleeding, but I didn't see any blood. Later on, however, I did notice he had fairly bright red scratch marks. Gah, I really suck at descriptions... sorry guys. I really did appreciate their performance though. I kind of wished this was their own tour.
Well, I'm sore, nauseous, scratched, tired, and out. G'night!

Jun 8, 2007, 13:17
^ Aw hope you are feeling better
hearing that makes me not want to go into the pit. I'm too old and fragile for that BS. I was thinking about going early to try to get a good spot....but now I might just go shopping with my friends and then go to the concert lol.
I think i'll just enjoy the show from a comfy spot, get out of the stage area after Diru's set, look at some Diru merch (if they have) and then go home.
oh quick question....was Diru the first or second opening act. I'm thinking they were the second but i want to make sure in case im gonna go a little before the show and I end up on the back of the line. I got the sold out night so i'm worried about the crowds.
Michiko-kitsune
Jun 8, 2007, 13:47
Wow, that's too bad that the Deftone fans seemed a little..."over-the-top"...I was wondering how they'd be, or react in general to the Diru fans present, so thanks for sharing your experience with it. Well, there's no telling; it may be different at other shows, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Fall of Troy played first for about 45 min I think. Then Diru. I might be wrong, but I think they played ~1 hour. ^__________^ Or at least it seemed like it. I bought merch after Diru played and took off. Shirts are $30. There are 3 shirts, all new (not from other tours). There was also WTD and Marrow of a Bone, and I think they were about $15 each or maybe $20. Postcards $1, but only one kind. Vinyl sticker that says Dir en Grey, all caps I think in white for $9. They also had two of those drumhead things for $75 each. One was black, the other was clear. They were NOT autographed though, so I didn't think it was worth buying one. Take cash. ^_^; And definitely, if you feel you're getting old (i.e. older than the average age of 16-18 I think) or you've seen them already up close before, you'll probably enjoy the show more outside the pit. Try going for an elevated spot and get a good view. ^_^ Good luck and enjoy the show!
Precious4e
Jun 8, 2007, 21:47
^ thanks! man now I need to stop by the ATM. I always get a shirt at their shows....but now that they have some other stuff i'll have to bring extra money. I think i'll try to be in the front row on the second level or something. If not i'll stand in the back of the pit. During inward scream i was first row second level and had a great view of the whole stage.
Yeah, that's the way to go. Get there early enough just to get a good view of the stage, but late enough to not get crushed. ^_^;
Oh yeah, John from the merch stand said that Die mentioned he was going to put one of those vinyl stickers on his guitar for tonight's show. Let me know if he does!

I don't think Canadian health coverage does me much good over here, so pit brawls are out. *sigh* I'm too old for this BS too. Anybody sees a short chubby girl with white eyes and a big tattoo across her chest, hanging out with a tall skinny dude who looks way uncomfortable in his outfit, come say hi. I think the Diru fans should stick together! Bloody rude Deftones clones.

We live in a world where criticism can't be avoided. It's just the way they deliver their criticism that would annoy or hurt people. I didn't like what was said about the two bands. Again, it's the way they talk about something. I don't know...I don't like the WAY it's said.

I agree....I think that saying
"And Dir En Grey is sort of like a Japanese version of Disturbed — clean and bland songs, goofily dramatic lead singer — which is one import we truly do not need."
Is not really necessary. Actually, it's kind of rude. If one is to write a review about a concert, they should take in to consideration that each person is different than another and we all don't act the same. I wonder if the person who wrote it took into consideration how hard each band worked to make the live memorable...

Aw, you guys, there's no need to get worked up over the article. Yeah, the wording was a bit annoying, but that's what critics do- they explicitly share an opinion, whether it sounds harsh or not. And it's usually harsh to some degree. Not everyone's gonna absolutely love Diru, and if someone finds them bland and shares it, so be it. Not everyone is going to praise them to high heaven.
It'll be oookay. XD The article was mostly just Deftones pimpage, anyway. It can't be helped if the opening acts were brushed off by the writer, but it happens.
So yeah- can't remember if anyone's mentioned or not, but is anyone else going to the Minneapolis (aka not Minneapolis, actually Maplewood) show? : D

I had a great time at the show. We even stayed for a few of the Deftones songs. My friend said he liked them the first time they came out... when they were Limp Biskit. The eye of the beholder, my friends.
But that article was unecessarily rude. Comparing DEG to Disturbed is ridiculous. The opinion could have been stated without sinking to that level. Says more about the authors writing talent than it does about the bands. Anyone can learn to write pretty, having substance to back it up is the real trick. I liked Kyo's new do, btw.

article-ness- yea... i wish it didn't exist, but whatever. there's no way to get around it =/ i guess i could understand not quite comprehending diru live, because they don't focus on technicality live, but emotion... i guess i can't blame him *sigh* though he was really rude and makes me hate deftones even though i haven't heard their music. i know that's bad, but when people from the 'deftones camp' say stuff insulting the things i love, how can i love them? baaaad planning, dude... this was your chance...
i kinda miss die's red... since it was the one thing diru kept from the olden days... i love their recent stuff actually more than their old stuff as a whole, i think, but it was nice to have one throw-back for nostalgia's sake... he'll change it back eventually i think...
i didn't like kyo's hair black... i think it belongs blond too... it compliments him the best that way in my opinion ^_^ though it looked awesome black for drain away...

@hitsugimad- XD that put a really funny picture in my head of your friends playing guitar right into your ears and the other one stuffing grapes in your mouth XD that's a horrible reason to like diru though... sorry your friends are like that!
diru's most recently written song is LIE BURRIED WITH A VENGEANCE, i think, as they wrote it on the tourbus at FVT. but the most recently released songs are the ones off "The Marrow of a Bone" cd (minus the singles ASOM, CS, and ryoujoku no ame) ^_^

Dir En Grey and Fall of Troy opened the show, neither hitting any sort of stride that left a lasting impression. The frenetic Fall of Troy boasted solid musicianship but lacked a focus to make that playing pay off. And Dir En Grey is sort of like a Japanese version of Disturbed ・clean and bland songs, goofily dramatic lead singer ・which is one import we truly do not need.

If they come back in winter it will either be in January or February of next year. After the european shows i'm guessing they'll take some time off and then tour japan at the end of this year anywhere from the end of september - the end of december. I've heard so many different things from people about when diru is coming back, and the answer they've gotten is the same and that is they'll be back in winter, but you can't really confirm it.
Does anyone have any recent pictures of Shinya???????? Is his hair still the same?????????

I wrote the song out for piano myself ^^ If you's like, I can try writing the music out and I can send it to you :) But it might take a bit cause I've got exams coming up...and I'm really bad writing out music :P
OH! I didn't see Shinya pics!!! I look back then ^0^

I had a great time at the show. We even stayed for a few of the Deftones songs. My friend said he liked them the first time they came out... when they were Limp Biskit.
He didn't realise that Deftones came out five years BEFORE Limp Bizkit, did he?
I haven't heard much about this band except that they're going to be performing in October in Houston. After reading some of the posts, I'm going to have to order some of their music.

No, he's into club music. I think he was just making a point of the complete lack of originality. Neither one of us are fans of either so...

I'm going to start writing it onto actual sheet music once I understand how to use the program ^^ So if anyone wants it, it might be done in a few weeks (or more...i'm really slow at these things)
@andie I dun think they'll be releasing a new single anytime soon....I guess their kinda busy touring around....^^ I hope they release atleast one new single before the year is over.....

I just found out yesterday that my friend who said she might come with me to see diru in stockholm if I payed her ticket don't want to anymore because she says she can't stand the music :/ my hope of being able to go is now down to zero. because she was the one who could've been able to fix a ride down there. my mom will never let me go alone, seeing as she demanded someone over 18 to come with. I'm so sad about this.. I would give anything to go there..
Hahaa I don't like Diru so much, but when i heard Marrow of a bone songs, my heart beats very fast and I can say now, that I love Diru's new songs so much. I think that Kyo's voice is better nowadays. I hate Dirus old production :D

Man that SERIOUSLY sucks! My parents would never let me go, even if I went with someone older :( They think that they're all druggies and only other druggies will go to the concert and stuff. It's so lame
@Fxxr hmmm I liked alot of their old songs like CLEVER SLEAZOID and THE III D EMPIRE...........but everyone has a different opinion :P

How old are you? 16? I guess if you're confident that you'll be ok with going into the concert by yourself then you can tell your friend to just go to stockholm with you so that your mom thinks she's accompanying you. Then just tell her not to go to the concert and just hang out at the hotel or something lol. (i'm being a bad influence aren't I?)
i've seen some young kids who got dropped off at the show by their parents and then picked up lol. They seriously looked like 14 or something.

yeah, or I'll turn 17 before the concert.. but I found that my mom will let me go as long as I finf a friend to go there with me. And I would actually like the friend to come with too the concert itself too tough. But actually I'll do anything to get anyone to come with me. I would ven pay for their concert ticket.. not for the bus ride tough because that would be too expensive.. but since I found out yesterday that the person who comes with me iin fact doesn't have to be over 18. so I'ma aska all my friends to come with and hopefully I'll manage to convince someone ^-^

^I need a paycheck....but my parents wont let me work till next year :(
So I have to dothe impossible and save! @ChildPrey hehehe have fun at the concert!!! I want to go to a Dir En grey concert....but when they came everybody was frozen (damn global warming...it only gets cold when Diru comes -_-)

JROCK IS SUCH A #$#%^ EXPENSIVE HOBBY!!!! >_<*twitch*
i wanted to get a job over the summer, but with my hair now, i don't think anyone would hire me... *maybe* hot topic would, but i don't think i look scary enough for that XD

^ code of vulgarism is worth every penny......5 ugly is even more worth it. I'm debating whether or not to get It Withers and Withers....I really want a more recent DVDs of theirs. Gosh if only a knot were international I could have gotten Despair in the Womb.

I am so happy i work, even though i have no free time between school and work >.<
^lol I told my mom the other day that I wanted to order a DVD that costed 160$ she dropped everything and began yelling ^^''''''''' but after she said she'll think about it and that I should wait till my CDs come :) I'm so excited!
@Dakkii I don't think that buying knock off CDs and DVDs is very fair to the bands..... for me, downloading the songs, but not putting them on any CDs just on your MP3 or Ipod or something is fine....but giving money to people that just copy their stuff is not worth it....I hope I didn't offend you by saying that....it's just my 'friends' keep asking me to borrow my CDs so they can copy them and I find that really offending cause it took me alot of time bugging my parents and alot of money and to them, my time and treasure is nothing. (I really like your hair by the way......I want to get my hair done like Aki's from Sadie...but I have to wait....)
@ChildPrey hmmm why don't you just say you're going to meet someone there????? :p

ehh, bunch of close minded dorks. a japanese Disturbed? I dont think so. and if you think about it I dont think the Deftones dislike their music either if they booked them on the tour right?
@ghostinthefog you're so lucky!!!!! Have fun at the concert!!!!

Jun 21, 2007, 20:11
@amita- i agree, but in the case of Despair in the Womb being an 'a knot' only DVD... and as i am physically unable to join the fanclub (though i WISH I COULD), i think it's fair. also, i didn't know it was a knock off when i bought it. besides the only way to buy a real one is for $200 on ebay (that's literally what they're going for)... i think that's much less fair. and i was kidding about osaka jo hall, though it's tempting, as it's $50 for a DVD vs. $8 XD and you didn't offend me ^_^
HAVE FUN GHOSTINTHEFOG!!!
@Dakkii ah then you have a point! Sorry bout that! :relief:
There are ways of joining -a knot- but it's uber expensive! I wonder why they wont open it to foreign countries??? :o
yeah having jrock is a very expensive hobby and some people would really find you weird for liking japanese bands esp if it is a VK band....

I like letting ppl know im scary it stops the really annoying prepy ppl from talking to me hahaha which is kind of sad cuz now my favorite cuzin is one of those ppl but i have to remind her she used to be even scarier then me lol. When i frist meet my (he a prep but hes not annoying) he saw my Dir en grey pics and he asked me if i had any issues i want to talk about lol and i thought after that he wasnt going to talk to me any more but now look at us lol
i just heard 'sea of retards' for the first time and laughed really hard XD how could anyone think that's a diru song? XDDDD it's not even a song!!
lmao when I heard that song, me and my brother fell onto the ground laughing
@semi~sweet I guess ppl do find me scary...:relief: I can be quiet, shy, and very polite one second (*cough* to teachers...they don't pick on you that way :p) and then loud, rude, hyper and talkative the next.
One time this guy from my music class went around the halls screaming "people we are in god's land, praise god!" I'm not against god or religion or anything (I'm not religeous) but I got so annoyed and that "quiet me" vanished. I turned around and told him in a really dark voice "there is no god"....that was the...erm....worst thing to do in that situation....everybody went quiet and just stared at me funny.....luckily a friend broke the silence and said "erm...uhhhh....did anybody do their....um...homework???"
I also get called a stalker for having alot of pictures of them....... is that wrong???
semi~sweet
Jun 23, 2007, 00:33
haha i get called stalker too but only by my bother in law who is starting to like dir en grey to all thanks to me lol
LOL I've tried to get more ppl to like them....but it doesn't work...here's it's all rap, pop and hip hop....and ppl say I have strange taste in music....
My bro liked Saku and Berry for a bit....but then didn't like them....and some of the PV's give my friends nightmares :relief: erm....well I tried at least!
semi~sweet
Jun 23, 2007, 03:15
well i can honestly say my brother-in-law has weird taste and i got him in to dir en grey cuz i was showing him something on my laptop and he saw my Kyo wallpaper and a few day later (by that time i had changed my wallpaper) he used my laptop and asked me "Wheres that pic of that guy that looks like death? He's awsome!" So i started telling him about dir en grey and now he likes them...lol i let me brother listento obscure and he freaked lol and was all "Can you turn that off now?" and i was like but obscuer is awsomly disturbing dont you think?" and he just left me there lol
lol I was listening to Grief during music theory class... I guess there's something wrong with my headphones cause everyone could hear what I was listening to.... people were just like..... omg.....um creepy much.....
another time, I saw a shirt on Jxyz that said F*** off I wanna die. [picture] Wake up you're dead..... I dunno why, but I really liked that shirt so I showed it to my friend and she got really mad.... how come not many ppl understand what I like? I told my friends at school I wanted more piercings on my ear and maybe one on my lip and they got mad and acted like my parents and lectured me......... :( There's only 2 ppl I know that agree with me that the stuff I like is cool...but I don't get to see them much
dakkii
Jun 23, 2007, 15:09
"fxxk off i wanna die... wake up you're dead" are diru lyrics <3 nice taste!! XD
i used to have a cute picture of gackt brushing his teeth on my binder and people called me a stalker XD it's not like i took it myself, guys!!!
in my group of friends, i'm the weird one already, so i don't think my changes matter much XD like i just bleached my hair so it's almost white and have blue highlights... didn't surprise them XD and they're like half asian AP students... i guess i'm the entertainment :P they know i'm scary and make fun of me for it... but i do have to hold back a little, i guess...
my mission for this entire year is to get one of my friends into miyavi XD the guy who tried to steal my diru wristband... i burned Vulgar for him when he recognized Malice Mizer and asked for some... slipped it in there XD but he never said anything afterwards O____o oh well!
my brother likes diru... his favorite is yurameki... i showed him the obscure video and he jumped a foot in the air when the geisha girl took a bite out of the baby's head... but the child prey pv was his favorite... with the retarded kaokao clap <3
lol Obscure PV really scare me :p
I've managed to get my friends into Gackt, Nightmare and the gazettE. but no one seems to like Diru too much...I don't really get why....:(
omg I saw a pair of Shinya drumsticks....but they're so EXPENSIVE!!!! WHYYYY????? :(
dakkii
Jun 23, 2007, 22:49
i think the obscure pv is my favorite... i think my order goes
1. obscure pv
2. child prey pv (MICE!!!!)
3. [kr] cube pv
4. kodou pv
5. ...the rest XD
on ebay? yea... XD and no one likes diru because they're intense, don't worry about it <3 gackt, gaz, and nightmare aren't exactly "hardcore" (and i like those)
semi~sweet
Jun 24, 2007, 00:52
i think dir en grey is the most intense band i listen lol the rest are l`arc~en~ciel, gackt and an cafe....but dir en grey is the band i listen to the most and my perents think im always dipressed because i do but it's just that i love the music (parents just dont understand)
lol parents never seem to understand anything......:p
they were teasing my brother the other day about his music (he likes bands like Metallica and Iron Maiden) and it suddenly came to my mom's attention that his music might be 'negative'..... wait till they read Diru's lyrics...that'll be interesting :lol
I have to say that my fave PV has to be The Final....I really like the fire thing (and Shinya's hair :bluush:) and the lyrics are really nice too :)

yea i've been voting... but then i realized it's not going to do anything, so i don't bother much anymore... i'll vote when i remember XD
@semi~sweet- seriously?? the main bands i listed to are Diru (of course <3), Girugamesh, D'espairsRay, MUCC, Sadie, lynch., UnsraW... i like some other less hard stuff also like gazette and GACKT!!, miyavi, an cafe etc... but it's mostly GWAR! music... i have a lot of music though @_@ 6,000 songs... so i have a ton of stuff with lots of different genres... hard VK is my favorite though...
@amita- my parents are so strange o_O... like my dad says he likes metal because his favorite band is Rammstein... so i played "hydra" for him and he hated it... but then he heard gackt's ~RETURNER~ and thinks it's genius XDD and my mom likes... like... tango music O_O and i was mad at her so i played Clever Sleziod (single ver) and when that opening scream/growl/creaking thing came up she like jumped up and down and clapped saying "oh that's so cool!" .... @____@ ARE ANYONE ELSE'S PARENTS ON LOS DRUGOS?!?!

Me too, but even though I know it won't make much difference in the big picture, I want to see Diru beat the snot out of My Chemical Romance! They are overplayed and while they have talent, they don't have any staying power. Diru was around 10 years ago and are still going strong. I doubt many people will know MCR in 10 years. They are simply what's hot right now. People used to love Brittany Spears too, but that doesn't make her good.

wow...I wasn't here for some time *hides in corner*
I think my parents accepted that I listen to "weird" music...my dad just once said, when I listened to D'espa a little bit loud: you could also listen to Rammstein (he listens to them)...me:O___O WHAT?!
my mom once started singing with Miyavi, dancing with Kaggra and she thinks that Silly God Disco is a cool song (although she first thought that it would be the James Bond theme^^)...so far she didn't hear anything from Diru and I'm happy about it, because she already thinks that I'm not normal and hearing Diru would make her think that I'm totally crazy^^
I bet my classmates wouldn't talk to me any single word anymore if they ever took my iPod and listened to Diru :D:D maybe I should do that on purpose and getting rid of them!!!^^ -mainiac laugh-

yea i listen to my ipod waaaay too loud... like recently i hit full blast (which i was too scared to do before) aaaaand... yea O_O sometimes i can feel my ears plug themselves up when i'm listening to my music and i always think "aww how cute! my ears are trying to protect themselves!" and then i turn the music up more XD yes, i know i'm going to die.
MCR XDDD i dunno... sometimes i get one of their songs up on shuffle and there usually is about 3-5 seconds somewhere in the song that makes me look up and think "wow this is actually decent!" and then it goes away and i think "...oh" :P i don't think they're COMPLETE crap... i think the singer's voice is annoying sometimes and it's all just kind of blah. yea... diru needs to beat them. *goes and votes like crazy* ^__^

:souka: dudes the dir en grey thread was on the second page... never thought i'd see the day........
*slightly disturbed*
so here's some news, directly from Leader-sama's mouth:
"I guess you might mention about DVD, which we released exclusive for our fan club memberships. I believe they are the people who understand us the most. Nowadays, we tend to do activities in overseas more than before, so we try and produce works for them. At the moment, our fan club is only limited for people who live in Japan, but we hope we will open the door to overseas people." --Kaoru
open it overseas~ <3
AND THIS!!!
"After the tour with the Deftones, we will have some time to write songs and then we?re going to tour in Europe in August. Now, there are some songs nearly finished. I am not sure, but we will be able to release something around autumn." --Kaoru again
SO EXCITED!!!! i have NO idea where they'll go after MOAB... i have always been able to hear the basic direction dir was moving, but no i just have no clue <3 i. am. so. excited.
also they've said they're doing another US tour in early 2008, so i've heard *jumps up and down*
@Dakkii OMGGGGGGGGG I HOPE THEY OPEN THEIR FAN CLUB FOR OVERSEAS PEOPLE!!!!!! I HOPE THEY RELEASE SOME NEW SONGS!!!!!! (WEEE UBER EXCITED!) Thanks for posting that! It made my blank day (well now....night) into a hyper one!!!

also, the name of their new tour in japan in called "Doving Green" or "Dozing Green" O__o no clue what that means, but whatever <3
kyo's fish hooking isnt that REAL he uses props that is accrdg to a fan who saw his mini capsule fall(it contains blood or something)

Oh I just love Diru~<3 (Especially the emotional songs, call me emo, I don't care.)
Yay, this year they're even coming in Finland! But I don't have any money. Crap. I was really looking forward to see them live. Kyo's voice is incredible, and the lyrics are somewhat unique. The music really sounds soulful, the guitar solos... *drools*
dakkii
Jul 21, 2007, 14:55
^yay welcome!!
psh i'm done with the whole "emo" thing... like chibisara refered to, is it now bad to like things that have strong emotion to them?! should we all just be stoic all the time?! because that would be so boring and lame and then you might as well not be alive... sorry i know i'm totally preaching to the choir here, but it's been bugging me XD

the concert of diru in february was actually ok...it wasnt the best concert they had in arizona. i went but like none of the band members really did anything special so im not sure what they did in the other states but idk i liked it for the music but performance wise wasnt the best...dont get me wrong i love them but...their concert was kinda boring except for the occasional fish hooking and the cutting

Hello! *waves*
I'm surprised I didn't find this thread sooner. I'm a really big Diru fan. ^^ So I'm new here, nice to meet you all. :]
I like Shinya best. XP
I saw them in February at Marquee Theatre~ I bribed my parents to let me go. They were really good, except that Shinya didn't really look at the crowd when he threw the drumsticks out. T.T It was fun nonetheless. And Kaoru's tuning sequence at the beginning was so cute 'cos he was speaking strangled English. XD
Now I have Diru stuff randomly lying around my room, poster, dog tag, t-shirt, etc, that I have to pick up before it gets vacuumed up. *runs away*

Jul 25, 2007, 07:20
Hi Hara Kei, nice to meet you ^.^ I'm not really new to Jref, but I haven't been on in a long time either XD. Isn't Diru the best?!?!? I saw them in Feb. at the Wiltern and they rocked out to the point where I cried XD. Oh yeah, how's everyone doing? I haven't been on the internet at all for the past couple of months....what did I miss? LOL
pinkbuta304

Jul 25, 2007, 07:42
Oh yes, Nao is my husband in my pathetic little mind XD. And yes, they were absolutely AMAZING!!! I laughed like a retard when Toshiya threw the mike-stand back stage and almost hit one of the people XD. And I got to see them leave in their bus to! My friend got a picture of Toshiya and Shinya going down the stairs from the building. Toshiay even waved at us!! Such an awesome night!!!! How did you like the concert?
pinkbuta304
Jul 25, 2007, 07:56

you noticed toshiya throwing the mic stand too?! i told my friend about it but she said she missed it. and kyo tossing around his crate on stage with the roadies trying to fix it back in place! lol its a night i will never forget! You got to see them leave? i wanted to but my brother came to pick me up as soon as it ended :okashii:
Nao's your husband? lol in my word i have 3: hiroto, kanon and Nao(kagrra,)
Kagura
Jul 25, 2007, 08:02
I know what you mean! Diru is my fav band EVER!!!! I don't blame your friend for missing him throw the stand, they were all so eye-catching it was nearly impossible to see them all at once XD.
There was actually a big group of people waiting outside at first, but then the security was thrwoing us back and forth cuz they were actually letting us stay without permission, yeah....people got fed up with the wait so there was only about 6 of us left XD. It would've been cool for you to see them afterwards, even though it took a hella long time XD.
Nao is my #1 husband, aside from Die and Aoi XD Aoi is more of a sex slave though ^.^ LOL

Jul 25, 2007, 09:11

@KAGURA: Aoi is a sex slave!? XD But he's so full of win, I wouldn't mind it being the other way around...>.> Aoi is my #1~ ^^
I actually got there, expecting a super long line, but it actually wasn't very long at all, even though I got there half an hour before the show. >.> In fact, the whole revenue wasn't very packed at all, only in the front, but that was expected. :}
But I loved it when Toshiya leapt, held up his bass, and nearly tripped over Kyo's jacket.
You're lucky you got to see them leave. XD
pinkbuta304
Jul 25, 2007, 12:16

For English (or European) Diru fans, Kerrang! are offering two tickets for the price of one for the August 1st London date through aloud.com.
Just incase anyone wants to go and hasn't got tickets yet.
I'd go but there's the issue of money and finding somewhere to stay this close to the date. If they were playing nearer to me (say Newcastle Academy rather than Islington Academy) I'd...well, ok I'd be cursing myself because I would have paid full price for tickets the day they went on sale, heh. We need more JRock in the North.

Dir en grey did an interveiw in kerrang This week Although kyo let kaoru do all the talking lol
THE OUTSIDERS
from controversy and moral outrage to sell-out shows and a rabid fan-base..
DIR EN GREY-Japans answer to mcr are about to take the uk by storm
Di en grey frontman Kyo, guitarists kaoru and die, Bassist toshiya and drummer shinya- are one of japans biggest bands, regulary taking their claustrophobically intense rock to venues bigger than londons wembley arena.
And somehow, with no radio play, media interest or real profile, they've already become and underground phenomenon in europe, too. In august they'll play two headline shows in london's islington academy their first EVER shows in the uk. And with no publicity whatsoever, the first gig sold out in minutes.
"We were all very shocked by the fact that it sold out, because we've never been there and we had no idea that there were fans there," says kaoru, through an interpreter. "So it was almost unbelievable news for us, but we were very happy that it happend and there were people there who want to listen to our music."
It's typically modest response from a band who onstage, turn into beasts. Later on tonight kyo will howl, claw and at one point rip bloody chunks out of his own face. Offstage, though, he's shy to the point of almost silence. Dig a little deeper, though, and their startling success starts to make sense.
WHEN THEY started 10 years ago, the osaka quintet emerged from japan's highly-stylised 'Visual Kei' scene- where flamboyant clothes and make-up are as central as the music.
"The scene has changed so much that i don't really know what visual kei is right now," admits kaoru
"When we were growng up, the bands who were called visual kei played very hard music. But as the time passed and we see the visual kei scene right now, it's different, They're CUTE, and pretty colourful."
Even with the language barrier, it's easy to spot the word 'CUTE', spat out with the same disdain hardened punks reserve sor 'Sell-out'. but for all their rejections of the scene, it's the band's continued attention to visual detail that has gained them such an adoring fan-base.
On youtube, Their song 'Saku' video has been veiwed well over 650,000 times, while their clip of 'obscure' comes plastered with warnings. It caused outrage among the japanese press on it's release, and on watching it, there's little surprise why as it features on orgy of desturbing images- from kyo spewing vomit to a girl plucking babies out of a treeand taking phychotic bites from their heads.
" 'obscure' was actually one of the videos we didn't put much thought into!" laughs kaoru. " It's just kind of happened, there was no concept. The main reason why we made that video was we wanted to create something that would have an impact on the veiwers."
HE MAY leave the talking to the guitarist- the talkative pete wentz to his reserved patrick stump -but it's the enigmatic kyo who leads the band into the uncomfortable shadows they lurk in. You don't have to speak japanese to understand the anguish he's singing about -It's all there, plain to hear in each mournful lament and every blood-curdling scream.
"All the anger comes from my everyday life," kyo whispers. " It's not about what every word means, and it doesn't even matter what the whole song is about. I jus write about whatever's on my mind, but i don't have a particular message that i want to convey. The person whi is watching the concert or listerning to the music will have to interpret what everything - the words, music and performance combined- what it symbolises."
"Even japanese fans might not understand what i wtite," Kyo adds. "i want everyone in the whole world to feel the music on the same level, so it doesnt matter if you don't understand japanese. it's being able to understand the music as a whole."
clearly he's a man with his fair share of demons, and they come flooding out onstage, where he sometimes claws his chest until it's dripping with blood
" Sometimes that happens, but it,s not something that is too big a deal," shrugs kaoru of his bandmate's antics. " But there was one time when the blood would not stop!"
Despite the fact that they can quite easily sell out the worls famous budokan arena in tokyo (Which hold over 14,000 people) or the yokohama arena (17,000), they say they're 'not liked' by many people in their native country. But don't be mistaken, they're 'not liked' in the same way that MCR and marilyn manson are not liked by the vast majority of america; They're massive partly because of that wilful outsider status.
" In japan, it's not that we're not known, but not many people actually like us," insists Kaoru. " Our fans consist mainly of really hardcore fans. The japanese mainstream music scene consists mainly of pop artists. So it's very difficult for Dir En Grey to actually go out in the mainstream in japan. Of course we want as many people as possible to listen to the music, but we're not going to go out of our way to just be accepted by the mas public."
On tour with the deftones, Dir En Grey have carved out a loyal American following. In japan, They're rock royalty. And now they're heading our way to take london by storm with their two sold-out shows. They may not be going out of their way to fit in and be accepted by the world at large, but the ride this band are on seems to be out of control, hurtling towards international success at a dizzying speed. Get ready.
I dont get why some people just cant give them a chance Like my mate She hates them just because there japanese >:{ Most people have probly already read this but oh well enjoy lmao i just felt like doing this now im gonna think how to put the concert in to words lol

Heh, I'm still sickened by the fact that they were compared to MCR. They are more like Japan's answer to Rammstein...they have the same impact, though Rammstein seem to have a larger international fanbase (they are by no means an 'underground success' internationally). They can even be compared lyrically to Rammstein. Comparing them to MCR is...insulting. To say the least. Then again, I don't expect anything more from Kerrang!, who lost their credibility years ago. I was amazed when my friend told me that Dir en grey were in it (I think he only told me because I got him into them). And he told me the day after it had stopped going on sale, grr.
And I know what he means...'cute' *cough*AnCafe*cough*. Visual Kei has changed.
I hope those who went to the UK gigs had fun :).

Haha i didn't know that the video for Obscure caused outrage in the Japanese press, lol so thats why there are censered versions of it!
FrostPixie- i agree, i think it's wrong that they were compared to MCR, sorry if i offened anyone, but its true

:D, I was shocked the first time that I saw Obscure. Not by the content, really (though it was shocking), but by the fact that there wasn't a 'tame' version. Because, admit it, you wouldn't even see the cut version on music TV over here (except maybe in the early hours of the morning).
Take it as a sign of originality that they caused outrage in the Japanese press :). A lot of good bands have caused outrage.
I hear that they have been getting some video play on Headbangers Ball...it might be worth watching if that's true :).
@barron tengu Lmao, that's a good way of putting it :). MCR just make me sick...Diru do sometimes but it's always in a good way, lol :P.

the new hangbangers ball will never be worth watching, lol.
originality sure does seem to scare people... but pop music is what scares me. "my lip gloss is poppin, my lip gloss is coo..." much much scarier than dir en grey. (>_<.)
anyone c the animated vid for Agitated Scream of Maggots? i dunno if its really an official vid, but its quite insane, even more so than obscure lol.

wow....comparing dir en grey to mcr..in my opinion theres like a huge difference between them. dont get me wrong i like both bands. but mcr is more rock to me and i guess dir en grey leans for the emo screamo type of genre to me. kinda weird to be comparing those two.....i watched like obscure and i was like....:souka:. and most ppl i showed saku to was like WTF? thats messed up...hahaha

Dir en grey concert today here in Sweden. I've woken up 3 times now, and I can't go back to sleep, hehe. My fatboy taiwanese friend is sleeping in the couch, and his brother is sleeping on the floor. Four other friends are using my bed and couch, and my brother is sleeping in his bed. So I have to sleep on a damn matress on the floorT_T I'm alright though, I'm playing an addictive online game so I have something to do hehe^___^ I just wanted to let people know! Dir en grey are in Sweden right now!!!!!!!!
