i know that feeling! too excited to sleep?! You get to see jrock Gods today! yay, have fun! :cool:
I wonder what they're doing right now
Naw I don't think it's because of that^^ It's just that I have to sleep on a pretty damn uncomfortable matress on the floor, and my back hurts like hell. I need to sleep in my bed. I tried pulling off one of my friends from my bed, but he kicked me in my balls hard like hell^^ I don't really care though. I'm not that sleepy. If I really wanted to sleep I would probably slap him and kick him off my bed. But I'm just too nice right now!
Btw, I actually also wonder what they're doing now, hehe. Probably having gay sex?^^ Awww, now I also want to have gay sex...

Oh my god! Just a little over 24 hours until I'm going to my very first Diru concert! Waaah! I'm so excited that I actually feel a bit nauseous..?
Apparently the concert has been moved to a bigger hall because of the high demand for tickets:-) (that's pretty cool for a small and narrow-minded place like Denmark xD )

this is From Rock Sound lol Again kaoru does nearly all the talking
Everything comes to those who wait, but for fans of Dir En Grey, that wait has been agonising. A full 10 years after the Japanese metallers originally formed, their uk fans have finally been given the opportunity to see them play live this august and judging by the reaction, it couldn't have come any sooner. A date at the 800-capacity Islington academy in London miraculously sold out six hours after going on sale despite not being officially announced or advertised and a second gig has been added. Small beans relatively speaking, but for a band with just one official uk album, the recent 'The marrow of a bone', its not too shabby at all. In their homeland, the osaka outfit have long been established in the mainstream and regularly find themselves positioned in the higher realms of the chart, rubbing shoulders with more lightweight j-pop acts which guitarist kaoru admits is a little incongruous for a band whose lyrics include "I'll rape your daughter on your grave" and "dear god your a mother ****er".
"We feel very uncomfortable in the japanese mainstream but i think the reason we are so popular is because there isn't really anyone else doing what we do," explains kaoru through an interpreter.
"I think there are a lot of people in japan who still have a hunger to hear music like ours and do not enjoy the mainstream pop that is always in the charts. But we are not popular with everyone; the people that like us like us very much, but the people that hate us REALLY hate us!"
THE HARD WAY
The Quintet originally began life as exponents of the 'Visual kei' scene which is characterised (Broadly speaking) by an emphasis on aestheic flamboyant Check out some of Dir en grey's earlier pictures and videos just to compare. Because more ofter than not, they looked and sounded like ridiculous glam-Goth pantomime actors back in the day. Over time, they've put the elaborate wardrobe and gigantic make-up budgets to one side and made gradual strides towards becoming a real band - all of which has culminated in 'the marrow of a bone' clearly being their hardest and most accomplished effort yet.
"These songs were written while we were on tour last year so we created them while we were operating as a proper band - that may be why the new album is more aggressive than all the others," kaoru goes on.
"I think some of our old fans may not enjoy the direction we've taken, but it was the mood we were in at the time. Plus, we don't want to be seen as the same old 'Visual Kei' band anymore. That was years ago."
Kaoru's wish is now becoming a reality because Dir En Grey are being recognised and revered across the world for their intense-yet-melodic sound and have held their own in bills next to korn, Stone sour, and deftones in recent times. They even had metallica's booking ageny offer to work for them
- a golden ticket to playing with some of the biggest bands in the world - but refused out of loyalty to their long-standing representatives.
Says kaoru: “We always seem to choose the tougher way to make music and operate the band - I think people respect that."
But as musically adept as they are - both live and in the studio - the band still have the ability to be provocative and shocking in visual terms. Especially indicative of this are Dir En Grey's videos which are frequently on tool levels of grotesqueness and feature Marilyn mason-style quotas of pervasion; look up the track ‘obscure’ on you tube and see if you can get through it without losing your last meal.
“They’re no promotional tools like most videos are – they can’t be because they don’t get shown anyway,” continues kaoru. “We make them as pieces of art and as another pert of our music. They expand the song through images; that is why we use them and that is also why I’m proud of them.”
CHOOSE LIFE
With lyrics that seem obsessed with death, videos that look like surreal horror films, and a generally dark disposition within the band, it’s terribly tempting to view Dir En Grey as a group of tortured souls. Such an evaluation is exacerbated by the persona of singer kyo who has been known to mutilate himself on stage and spends almost the entirety of the rock sound photoshoot staring at the floor as though he were mourning the passing of his dog. But kaoru (who is amiable at all times during the interview) denies that he, Kyo, Guitarist Die, bassist Toshiya, and drummer shinya are continually suspended in comas of intensity for the sake of artistic effects.
“We don’t live dark lives or anything like that; in fact, I think we’re quite down-to-earth, especially when we are away from the band,” the guitarists details.
“It’s not as though we have any big scares of bad memories from our childhood, but the five of us are deep-thinking people. We cannot be happy-go-lucky-type people. We doubt things more than we believe in things. People might think we’re dark people by listening to our album once, but there’s more to us than that. For example, one of our songs is called ‘Saku,’ and that’s about the experience of being from a broken home and the emotional problems that creates. The guy in the song wants to die but tomorrow always comes and he carries on. We’re not saying ‘be happy’ all the times, but that’s the spirit behind a lot of our songs.”
And it’s that spirit which is propelling Dir En Grey on as they begin to preach their gospel outside of japan where metal is a much more common commodity than in their homeland. Do while Japanese punters may adore them, does the rest of the world need Dir En Grey as Much?
Reasons kaoru: “Maybe it’s not a case of the world needing Dir En Grey, but the world choosing Dir En Grey…”
Whatever your needs, don’t think for a minute that these guys Will be sheepishly scuttling back to Osaka any time soon.
i hope noone has put this up lmao

They were in Rock Sound? Is the issue still on sale now? Was it just the interview or were there posters/whatever?
I think that the HMV in the mall near me has wiped Dir en grey from existence in their store. They had Marrow of a Bone and I kept looking at it and when I finally decided to buy it it had gone and the next time I looked, the 'Dir en grey' divider had gone. So I take it that they just ordered one copy of the CD and once it had sold forgot about it.

InfernalKalamity America doesn't have magazine articles on Dir en grey? That's a supprise! We don't have much mention of J-rock here... Dir en grey are the main ones that get a mention. German magazines seem to do quite a few J-rock reviews... they actually seem quite into J-rock in general there.

FrostPixie Yays me tooo! Camden is one tube stop away from Islington... which is where we're seeing Gazette.
RevengeBabyYeah Resurrection Records is a ***** to find... I'm not sure I could give you very good directions... it's kinda down the side and underneath another shop on the main street... you don't have to go off into the confusing market area. My friend showed me where it was... I would have probably spent all day looking if she hadn't!
HitsugiMad4eva More Diru in Kerrang? I didn't like the poster they did last time... not enough to buy the magazine any ways... I don't like Kerrang! They should go for other ones like Metal Hammer... or posssibly something more underground. But then again thats not goin to get them as much publicity over here.
I shall shut up before I rant about the number of people I forsee jumping on the J-rock band waggon in this counrty!
FrostPixie
Aug 13, 2007, 04:44
@CharismaticDeath Hmm, I might have to check it out before I go back home. But I'd probably have to lump my luggage around with me. Ah heck, all I need is a change of clothes, I could fit that in a backpack. But I guess I'd have to find the place first, lol.
I might check Kerrang! out. I hate Kerrang! but it might be worth it for Diru.
It's strange when you like a band before they become well known in your country because it's just so damn funny when you read about them. I mean, the ignorance that magazines show yet they still act like they know everything about the band. I mean the Rock Sound interview was at least better than the Kerrang! interview but still... I would have been offended if I was the one being interviewed. Kaoru expresses his disgust at the 'cute' bands (I know he was talking about VK, but still...) then Kerrang! compare him to an overgrown pixie from Fall Out Boy, one of the 'cutest' bands in the Western world. I won't say anything about the MCR comparison because that just speaks volumes.
The least these magazines could do is do a little research into the bands they are interviewing, and I'm not talking about how much outrage they caused in their native country or how many top ten hits they have had. Then again, Kerrang! tends to play to the masses now (ie. preteens) so they compare everything to acts people already like, regardless of whether or not they have anything in common.
Metal Hammer should do a feature. They seem to remain neutral and they seem to do their research and don't seem to care about appealing to the masses (at least they didn't when I used to read it).

CD- Thanks. So now I vaguely know where it is, woohoo!
And you guys, don't even get me started on Kerrang.... I have the mother of all grudges against those dumbasses:p
IK- i know! but I think I already commented on it so I'll shut up :p
The Dir en grey concert over here was awesomeness. There were so many people there, it was crazy. I got to stand in the front though and see Kyo from close. My friends and I just had to push our way through people;p I almost jumped up on the stage just to rub his nipples^^
O . M . F . G . .... that was just incredible .... guys, they were AMAZING, Kyo didin't make even ONE false note ... The higher parts wer pure perfection :D Some say that this performance was even better than the one in Drezden ! The fans were amazing, After their reactions I can say that DEG didn't even think they had such powerfull fanbase here. they were at first a little surprised an then all smiles :D They had SO much energy it was hard to breathe xD I was on Kaoru's side, in the first row, very near to the speakers (I always end up in that place for some reason O_o). Oh, and Kyo didn't cut himself or spit out blood. On how they were recieved - better than i imagined O.o Some Tool fans even clapped after Concieved Sorrow O_o But majority of their opinions is that - they were not what I was expecting ( i don't know in what way -_-), not my taste, and they had some issues with them being posers who does everything so the fans will like them. Of course there was some pretty bad opinions .. but well, Tool an DEG aren't really close musically so it is understable ... On the back were some booers, but they were drowned out by us xDD haha :D Tool fans kind of ignored them xD Oh well ... we were great, the band liked us and that is all that matters :D
THE HIGHLIGHTS (geez, the whole performance was one big highlight xD) :
- When G.D.S. ended Kyo sprayed us with water :) I was like - so soon ? O_o
- Kaoru, Toshiya and Die changed places at some points ( i didn't see that on other Festivals, but who knows ..)
- Kaoru showed us MANY versions of 'teh manly stances', and as always he headbanged :D
- Toshiya constantly flirted with the audience
- Kyo showed us the finger during ASoM :D We returned the gesture :D
- Kaoru nearly every 5 minutes banged himself on the chest (heart to be specific), I guess he was really glad of our reaction :)
- During Concieved Sorrow, Kyo climbed up to his box (XD), turned to the side, kneeled down and veeery slowly lied down on his back singing xD That caused many nosebleeds i suppose ^^;
- Kyo of course took off his T-shirt and ... he singed ( or should I say trashed all around the place and screamed) with the T-shirt on his head xD He looked like some executioner x) The sound and view was quite interesting :D
- At the end Toshiya climbed up to Kyo's box (XD) and bowed to us with his hands put together to thank us :) We were really touched ;)
- Before the concert i looked to the speaker next to me and began wondering ... what if Kaoru would stand on it ? It was kind of below the stage and looked solid so ... but 'meh' i said 'impossible' ... and what a surprise when he actually did just that xD We rocked out to him, he rocked out to us and looked at the speaker .. then to us ... then to the speaker again .. then to his feet (xD) and walked over to stand on it to be closer to us :D And he spitted on some people xD They were in heaven xD
- They all feeled up the crowd more (as if that was even neccesary xD). Kyo showed us to clap our hands, some 'standard' gestures (The Final - hand in the air for example) and he danced a lot O_o . Kaoru, Toshiya and Die showed us with their hands to jump more and more, and then placed their hands to their ears so we should scream more x) Our throats and limbs are non-existent at the moment xD
- The look on their faces where we all started to sing ... priceless .. at one piont in The Final on a short while we even drowned out Kyo for a bit xD
- They throwed lots of pics, Shinya throwed 4 drumstics, and then .. we had a shower xD They decided to 'cover us in water' litterally xD Everyone throwed bottles at us - theirs (half finished) and not touched ones as well :) That was kind, we needed water badly T_T Everyone shared the water between them, there was no possesive fangirlism over bottles O_o ... another surprise ..
- The look on Toshiya's and Die's faces when they gazed at each other and smiled :)
- The proud look Kaoru gave us :)
- Shinya's little glances behind the drum set xD
- Kyo's emotions through the show and then ... calm gaze :)
All in all they acted like it was their concert and not a Festival xD Audience did a really good job :) I was very surprised, in a good way :)
Set-list :
- G.D.S.
- Repetition of Hatred
- Grief
(the rest is in no particular order)
- Agitated Screams of Maggots
- Obscure
- Saku
- Concieved Sorrow (+ intro with some kind of spiritual-oriental-mantra thing - AMAZNING *o*)
- The Fatal Believer
- Ryoujoku no Ame
- Disabled Complexes
(and again in the particular order xD)
- The Final
- Dead Tree (yes, + the 'whale sounds' xD)
- Merciless Cult
- The Deeper Vileness
- The IIID Empire
Backstage highlights :
- Some fans went on a walk around Spodek (the place when the Festival was held) and spotted some DEG members on the parking ^^ . They saw Kyo who was running with a towel on his head and wearing tracksuit xDDD So they walked over to the crate. But Kyo hid himself already xD But .. Shinya came out, he was at first atempting to ignore them, but finally gave in and looked at them xD Then Die came out and waved at them, they waved back, and Die gave some autographs ^^
- When Diru's concert ended - some fans went running to the back entrance to have some autographs and such :P about 15 - 20 people made it :D I didn't though T_T . But i buyed 'WTD' so i'm happy :)
it really amazes me how dir en grey conquers the world
they deserve it coz they are the best band in this planet

Hey guys (: Just realized I hadn't written anything since before the concert :p The only thing I can say about the concert is: it made me happy to the very bottom of my soul. Absolutely amazing. (I've written about it in the last part of my blog on xanga - if anyone's interested, there's a link to my xanga when you click my name)
@ Kodo - Yeah, it seems there concerts are quite similar. I was just youtubing earlier today and I stumbled upon a clip from another Diru live, but recognized several things from the concert I went to - but yeah they still kick ***.:yeahh:
Btw, I love Kyo's "Rape Me" bucket:giggle:

i'm glad you guys that went had fun! man, i can't wait until they come back (hopefully)
haha kyo wore his shirt on his head?! and ran around in a track suit?! Man, what i would do to see that!
The concert was on 7 august but it feels like it was so long ago! I would have jumped up on the stage just to show my hotness, and to rub Kyo's or Kaoru's nipples, but I didn't. I have no idea whyT_T My fat little taiwanese friends bro almost got toshiyas guitar pick, but he told me he dropped it. He probably did, but I wasn't close to him.
Btw some people actually fainted. Fuking pussies;p I would probably only faint if I got close enough to Kyo's nipples. If it was Zero from d'espairsray I would probably get boner;p

gah i've been gone guys .___. sorry... actually, this is really depressing, but one of my friends died in a car accident, so that's part of why i've been gone... right now i'm in the denial stage so dont worry about me, i'm completely numb about it right now o__o weird, huh?
ANYWAYS i'm going to go back and read all your loverly posts so i can get back into my favorite section of this forum later, all i have to say right now is:
-hi again
-congrats to those of you in europe who got to see diru!!! i hear it was amazing!
-how many of you watched the Wacken stream? i got up early to watch it but couldnt get on ;_; oh well... friends have pieced together the footage they recorded so its all good <3
-umm... i cant stop listening to MR NEWSMAN [LIVE]... Die's part just makes my heart soar *cheeeeeese*
Oh, i found a vid from concert in Poland - Concieved Sorrow ( but without mantra intro T_T ) - now I see that at the begining were some false notes ^^; but it was great overall :D I have some pics, but I cannot post them T_T I cannot give URL's too T_T Anyway type this 'Dir en Grey@Metal Hammer Festival 2007' and it should show
@RevengeBabyYeah
yup there is something about diru...they inked their name in japanese music..
I remembered something - some fans who got autographs say that after the concert, Kyo had gone to sleep xDDDD Not surprising, but .. lol :P

first of all:
welcome all the new members!!!!:wave:
hope you enjoy your stay here!!!
@Kodo
seems like you really had a great time at the concert, I'm happy for you^^
I'm really surprised at the fans there, since you said they shared the water-bottles....I bet the German fans would have killed each other :p
I'm really sad that I can't see them tomorrow...T__________T I was sooo close to get there :(
@dakkii
I hope you are alright?! *offers cookies* If you need help or someone to talk don't hesitat to ask...
btw...someone said that we have more jrock-magazines in Germany. That might be true, but some of them are..well...****!! (xDD) Like the peach magazine...sometimes they're writing really stupid things. And you can console yourself with the fact that you all live in countries where you don't have a 'boyband' with an ugly singer with which every jrocker is compared!!! (I swear if any person compares a jrocker to Bill again I'll kill somone!!!!!)
@BlackSoul - Thank You :) yeah I was surprised too O_o I guess people were too thirsty to think about who got who's bottle xDD. We weren't allowed to have with us food/water etc. So yeah ...

Aug 15, 2007, 03:40
@blacksoul- thank you ^_^
and XD at Dir en grey as the Backstreet Boys XDDD luckily those are really out of fashion over here... what kind of stuff do they write in those magazines? whenever jrock appears in ANY foreign magazine, it seems, they are presented really lame-ly (XD at my horrible language skillz)... there are only a handful of interviewers/article writers whose work is worth reading, honestly... the KERRANG article on Dir en grey was pretty decent, considering they compaired them to My Chemical Romance >___<

dakkii- welcome back! you were missed here! I'm sorry about what happend, but unfortunately those kinda things are unavoidable. We gotta all deal with it sometime. Anyways, Mr.Newsman! :cool: Yeah, good song "Newsman go hell!"
Wacken stream? :? lol
Kodo - kyo going to sleep? haha was that after he ran around with a shirt on his head?
dakkii
Aug 15, 2007, 05:08
pinkbuta=> aw i missed you guys too ^_^ jref people are so nice
for the Wacken festival, there was a live online stream for each of the bands, so you could watch Dir en grey live over the internet... except there were so many Dir en grey fans that we overwhelmed the server so barely anyone got to watch XD but if you look around you can find recordings of it i think... or they might release a dvd? (but thats a big "?") i got up early to watch it (by early i mean 7 XD) but i didnt get on at all... but now i have most of all the pieces, so i feel better XD
sleepy kyo XD in the Despair in the Womb DVD while people were screaming for an encore, kyo was just facedown on the ground backstage x__x but he's giving EVERYTHING he has on that stage... like when he passed out during MR NEWSMAN in one dvd blooper i think... yea o__o still kind of funny though... kyo's defiantely a cat person XD sleeping on anything...
@pinkbuta304 - no, after the concert :) My friend says that he did that in London too xD Going to sleep that is :P

Kyo's such a great person, he does give everything he has on stage for their fans. When i first saw that video of him fainting on stage i was like "why aren't the guys doing anything?" lol it took them forever, i bet they're used to it.
Kodo- he did that in london too? damn i love that man lol

Remember when he was hospitalised? I think it's great that they're working so hard and that so many get to see them but it's probably having an effect on Kyo. Love how he puts his soul into his performances though. the whole band has real energy.
And yeah I understand, 'Newsman' is so addictive :cool:
Livia thanks I'll definitely have a look at that!
Blacksoul- I STILL haven't heard TH yet. People either love or hate them. So they're really that bad huh? :p

Eeps this thread moves way to fast... I would have kept up more... but I was on a 12 hour flight!
Back on the topic of Kerrang! bashing... apparently they played Dir en grey on Kerrang! radio and the presenter managed to pronounce their name wrong!! My friend heard it and I got angry rants about it!
dakkii I didn't know they were streaming that live!! Awesome! I'm so goin to search for it... it wont be the same as seeing it from the second row though! :P People at Wacken refused to beleive that me and my friends were dir en grey fans and kept tryin to go past us in the signin line... probably something to do with the fact that, ironicly, most Diru fans were lolita goth!! and we looked like metal heads!
RevengeBabyYeah

uhg i can't stand the gothic lolita look...this girl here is asking ppl for tips cuz she wants to dress like that...when ppl look at me they usually think three things
1) oh we just a kid probably around 15 or 16
2) she looks like a sweet girl
3) she probably honest and live a good life
hahaha first time i heard someone say those the things i laughed sooo hard the truth
1) im 20 i'm an adult even if i dont act or look like one
2)sweet only to people i dont know if you live with me this what i do most of the time...sleep, read mangas, watch diru pvs, eat, drink liquer and cuss like hell
3)hahaha this ones funny honesty...i lie alot and the a good life if you call getting raped at the age of 11, mental problems and getting into drugs at the age of 14 (i'm clean ^_^) a good life
so i deffinatly don't look like a typical diru fan hahaha but i am and i love them with all my....uhhh what goes there? hahaha what??? oh heart lol i can't believe i forgot hahaha

^aw ^_^ but it's ok... all that stuff's over now, right? i know what you mean about the way people judge (and judge WRONG)... like with my new hair i get these looks all the time and old people are scared of me and stuff XD oh well... at least nothing bad can come of "sweet/innocent" looks... you can freak people out by headbanging real hard at concerts XD for me... i dont know... i guess i look more "visual kei" or whatever *rolls eyes* because of my hair, but around people i dont now i act super sweet too... but then i get into the mosh pit and even my more hardcore friends are like "O__O" at me because i go so crazy XDDDD definately dont look lolita though... at all >_> personally i think it's stupid, especially TO A DIR EN GREY CONCERT ARE YOU CRAZY?!?!?! ... ahem .__.
@revenge- thank you :3 you're all making me feel better... the memorial service was last night, so i feel a little better now... and yea i agree... both about Kerrang and about Kyo putting everything (maybe even a little too much for him to handle) in his performances. but while i'm (and we all are) concerned for his health, it's also part of the reason i (we) love him so much ^_^
@pinky- XD yea... i think they weren't sure if he was actually down or just being kyo XDDDD except Die kept looking over at him all worried-like, which i thought was cute :3 but of course i think everything it cute, so whatever ~_~
@charismaticdeath- ooh! where to?! are you going on vacation? and uhg... HOW ELSE CAN YOU PRONOUNCE "DIR EN GREY"?! seriously, this is the radio guy's job... but at the same time, in the long run, it dun' matter, so oh well... we just have to roll our eyes and get over it.

@Everyone who went to a Diru live this summer YOU'RE SO LUCKY!!!! I hope that everything went well (well duh they did! XD)
Nobodys knows about Diru in Thailand......it's sad :(....people gave me really horrified looks when they heard me singing/whispering along to Grief....my aunt thought that the music I lisnted to was very scary too..... XD
@ Semi~sweet it sounds like you've been through alot...
People tend to avoid me... they think I'm going to kill everyone just cause I dress in all black, don't talk too much and listen to music like Diru and the GazettE....they think that lyrics are scary while I think the lyrics are deep and romantic (I have a weird definition of romantic XD)

Heh, I'm still sickened by the fact that they were compared to MCR. They are more like Japan's answer to Rammstein...they have the same impact, though Rammstein seem to have a larger international fanbase (they are by no means an 'underground success' internationally). They can even be compared lyrically to Rammstein. Comparing them to MCR is...insulting. To say the least.
OH MY GOSH I AGREE! :)
I have been listening to nothing but Dir en grey and Rammstein lately, and yes, their lyrics and bizarre diversity are very much comparable!
CharismaticDeath
Aug 19, 2007, 14:04
Is this comparison coming from Kerrang! by any chance? They likened them to Slipknot too at one stage... I don't actualy mind Slipknot as a band and have great respect for Corey Taylor and Joey Jordeson... but they are nothing like Dir en grey. That isnt as bad as the MCR comparison. That likening is a marketing technique and nothing else... MCR = very big at the moment... anything likened to them is also goin to do well... even if it's nothing like them!
I can see where youre coming from with the Rammstein thing, definately. They are one of the only forign language bands to have achieved that much sucsess in other countries... and the way Dir en grey are goin they will do just as well.
Actually German magazine review J-rock better than English language ones!!
hehehe Slipknot gave me nightmares once.....I dunno they really scared me....just those masks....but I haven't heard their music yet
Actually German magazine review J-rock better than English language ones!!
lol English reviews can be very bland and boring
@Semi sweet How'd your friend find a pick of a cat giving the finger??? I don't really like cats (some seem to think I'm a scratching post or something), but I thought that was realy cute/funny
RevengeBabyYeah

Aug 20, 2007, 06:54
Yeah, I knew that J-rock is doing quite well in Germany, they have better articles and photoshoots in their magazines. From what I've seen.
J-rock is practically non-existant here. It sucks.
omg I had the wierdest dream ever! I dream that I found a Shinya clock....it was litterally a mini Shinya figure that was holding a clock....it was so strange (but very real looking)! I remember thinking "I'm going to take a picture of this and show it to my friends on Jref" XD I'm such a dork :D I then woke up, looked around for my Shinya clock and got upset
RevengeBabyYeah
Aug 21, 2007, 00:35

So anyway I heard that the Kerrang review of the Deg performance was really bad. You guys read it?
semi~sweet
Aug 21, 2007, 05:49
hahaha thats a funny dream hahaha a miniture Shinya holding a clock sooo cute hahaha!
the Kerrang review didn't someone post that up in here or was that another site i read it on (im confused) but i did read it and the review made me upset i listened to nothing but diru for a few days after i read the review
pinkbuta304
Aug 21, 2007, 06:23

Aug 21, 2007, 12:42
RevengeBabyYeah NO! I'm shocked!! They gave them good (ish) reviews up-until now!
My friend was there (I would have been but was in Germany ^_^) and she said it was an awesome gig... possibly topping Despairs Ray... and coming from here that says a lot as the Despairs Ray gig was amazing! I'll see if I can find out if any one back home has bought it... or get them to read it in the shops.
English magazines are so bad me and group of friends seriously are considering starting our own... where we give honest and decent reviews that aren't presented just to boost a bands popularity.
I'd buy your magazine :P
We have no magazines on J-rock or Japanese music in general....well there IS Purple Sky....but they don't sell it in stores here...you'd have to order it. Some anime magazines do small articles on Japanese bands....but rarely J-rock and even more rarely bands that I like and the length of the article is about half a paragraph
So Kerrang is a music magazine or something???
RevengeBabyYeah
Aug 21, 2007, 21:52
Yeah for rock music. Urgh could kerrang possibly p*ss me off any more than they already do?
CD- yeah I read reviews and comments and stuff about it online and everyone seemed to love it. I'd be elated if you went ahead with the magazine :cool:
Amita: don't get me started on the lack of JRock here....:p
Pink: woohoo!:cheer:
So alot of people are disappointed with the direction Deg are heading in, like the image and music. We all know they've lost fans. What do you guys think?
CharismaticDeath
Aug 22, 2007, 00:12
Thank you! I shall let you know if we ever set it up!
It's supposed to be an alternative music magazine... and used to be quite good. The problem is, with the rise of emo in the Uk especially Kerrang! have found themselves a nice little way of making money... ie covering all the emo bands that are popular at the time and leaving most of the actual underground stuff uncovered. Their reviews are based on public opinions not musical integrity... and Metal Hammer (the better magazine we had) is heading in the same direction! ::le sigh:: when will this madness end!
CharismaticDeath
Aug 22, 2007, 00:17
As for the direction they're heading in... I know they get a lot of criticism but I like Marrow of a Bone (hate Agitated Screams... ) but the albums is good... and so much better than I expected!

i'm not really disappointed in the direction that they're going in. I know that they always make good music. My friend is a little disappointed but she's still a fan. The only thing i'm not so crazy about is the english lyrics they're starting to use more an more

Aug 22, 2007, 05:03
I've been a jrock fan for almost one year now and I got to know Dir en Grey maybe half a year ago so I don't really know their 'old' image. Of course I saw pics and some of their old videos and I heard the old songs (although I still can't remember the names :p), but I think it's something different to really see that in 'real time' (I hope you know what I mean^^). I can see and hear the differences, but I also think that there's no band, who never ever changed. Changes can be something good and speaking of Diru I don't think their music changed really dramatically!! I like both, the 'old' and the 'new' Diru and I'm excited what will come next!!^^
RevengeBabyYeah
Aug 22, 2007, 06:31
Yeah I think everyone is wondering what other directions the band will be heading in. I liked MOAB too, but obviously not everyone liked every single song though. I think it's great that they're experimenting with different styles and BlackSoul you're right about change. If they stayed the same it would just get boring.
But is there anyone who prefers the 'VK' style or the new image? Or do most of you like them equally and don't seperate the two?
*sorry if i didn't make sense, really drowsy right now :p
hmmm I really really really liked MOAB......like SERIOUSLY like it...
I really liked their VK style, but I also really like the style they have now... whatever they decide to do, I'm ok with just as long as their music is still good
CharismaticDeath
Aug 22, 2007, 13:11
As for style... I like both VK and their style now ... they're very different... but thats not to say ones better than the other.
As you say Amita so long as the musics still good... who cares what they look like!
i am a jrock crazy fangirl
i am 23 and working but i still act crazy an gaga over jrockers

As for the direction they're heading in... I know they get a lot of criticism but I like Marrow of a Bone (hate Agitated Screams... ) but the albums is good... and so much better than I expected!
I don't understand why people hate it so much because it's an amazing album, no doubt. Sometimes I feel like people just wont let themselves like 'new' Dir en grey. :52:
RevengeBabyYeah
Aug 24, 2007, 07:20
Yeah precisely, agree with you. Welcome to jref btw:wave:
Even with this 'new' Diru, you can still pick out the element that MAKES them Diru so in a sense they haven't changed.
*okay that probably made no sense, drowsy:p)

@lex
welcome to jref!!!:balloon:
I don't think there is such a HUGE difference between the 'old' and the 'new' diru. As a musician you always express your feelings and experiences in your music. Of course they got older and maybe feel a little bit differently than before and make other experiences but it's still their character that has a great influence on their music and you can hear that. Even if you dress and behave totally different, your character will always be there and come out. (Or as we learned in school this year: No matter how much you will change or how you will behave, everything is in you from the beginning, it just needs to be brought out^^). Noone can change his/her character, no matter how hard you try, so their music can't be that different!!!

welcome to lex and congrats to RBY (XD i wanna call you ribby for short now XDDDD i am master of weird nicknames)
i agree... i like just Dir en grey. i like everything they've done. it bothers me when people say that they are HUGE DIR EN GREY FANS when they only like Gauze, because thats a TINY FRACTION of what Dir en grey is... and yes Dir en grey is a very liquid band: they've been changing and flowing in different directions since they started together and as they're famous for, the never make the same album twice. thats part of why i like them so much :3
i saw that they were moving towards what MOAB became through their direction in albums and singles prior, but now i have no idea which way they are going @_@ so im really excited to see!
also, i think the change is why they a touring so much outside of japan; they lost a lot of japanese fans, so now they are trying to build a non-vk audience
CharismaticDeath
Aug 25, 2007, 14:57
dakkii Do you think they moved away because they changed or changed back they moved away? I'm not entirely sure the motive is that clear. It does seem very much like dropping VK was at attempt to have a more mature image and thus stand a better chance of breaking other countries.
I know a lot of Japanese artists want to try and break outside Japan. There are western artists known to all but the same does not apply for Asia. Dir en grey probably stand the best chance of achieving that!
You just nicknamed RBY the same name as my cat!!! ^_^
(thanks for all the welcomes. I actually joined months ago just never posted until now. xD)
dakkii's right, it was kinda obvious what direction they were going in ever since Vulgar and maybe even some of Kisou. No matter what they do though, you always know it Dir en grey. They're always going to be true to that distinctive sound.

Hello, hello :wave:
Dir en grey was the first jrock band that I started listening.
Hm, I can't tell which period I like more, I like their all music. But some of their MOAB songs can give me a little headache. But I haven't heard them all so I can't really tell. :p

Aug 26, 2007, 19:07
I've always seen Dir en grey as an american band with improvements. (I don't generally like american rock bands)
So, their recent, and more american style, music isn't really my bag, HOWEVER, i'm not going to stop being a fan.
As someone said earlier, Diru are a very liquid band, their style is always changing, and i'm sure they will change again.
I'm too interested to stop listening.
i want diru to grow and being exposed to bands overseas performing with them will make them a better band..they cannot test their talents and capabilities if they will stay in japan only and overseas exposure helps them not only their careers but themselves as well,as musicians they gain exprerience
RevengeBabyYeah
Aug 28, 2007, 00:04
Ribby? I love it!:p
You guys made really good points.
andie- yeah I'm surprised that they didn't expand overseas before they did.

hey Garnet, cool that they were your first band. Headache? Lol :p
CD- yeah you're right it's hard to seperate the two right? And i totally agree with you dakkii, lex and BlackS :cool:

Aug 28, 2007, 12:47
Hey I'm new! I've been reading this forum for a while now. And I have some qeustions/things to say.... xD
Well. I'm not new to deg. I'm a total die hard fan :D And I was wondering since like Marrow came out, does japan even bother with them anymore :? I've heard alot of rumors, but i've never got around to looking it up. I know they are going on a "Dozing Green" tour there soon... :O can someone fill me in? I feel so behind xD
anyways. I could talk about them all day :)
Liquid Fantasy
Aug 28, 2007, 16:12
MANRYKYRO: I was wondering that, too. Since they will tour Japan, I think of how the people over there will react. I don't know much of DEG, but I know that they went into a complete new genre from their older days.
well japan is a perfectly imbalanced society i am sure that a lot of people esp the olger generations hate diru but i think for the young ones diru is the coolest thing in japan i mean aside from all those gadgets they are japan's hottest export

@MANRYKYRO
welcome here!!!!!!:balloon:
hope you enjoy your stay here!!^^
I think that their fans in Japan still think about them and want them to play concerts there!!! But with Diru it's the same as with other Jrock-bands, too, they're not that famous in Japan as we 'foreigners' think they are. I think someone of Gazette (I believe it was Ruki or Aoi) once said that they often aren't recognized by elder people on the street. Of course they have more fans there than in other countries but they're not really known, like other big bands from other countires(okay bad example, but the Rolling Stones where really famous and almost everyone in Americ knew them!!). They still belong to a 'sub-culture' in Japan, although they really developed and 'americanized'. I just hope that their fans there will still love them and be still interested in them!!!

Yeaaaaahhhh.... that's what I'm worried about XD I heard about how they lost chunks of their fanbase D: But I'm guessing it got replaced with alot of new fans :D Which is very exciting :O Oh man, I'm totally excited for their next stuff :cracker:

Welcome back HitsugiMad4Eva!
lol only two of my friends are really into Jrock...they think Diru can be very creepy....but they like a few of their songs...and they said if Diru came back to Canada (I dun really think that'll happen...but it might) they'd go with me so I'm really happy about that!...my 'school friends' seem to have this special barrier around them to prevent me trying to 'convert' them. I have no hope in anyone else in this country cause they think that I listen to emo music and 'emo' just happens to not be 'in'. It's sad.

WHAT NO WAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I AM SO EXCITED! *off to scout more*
about leaving VK/japan... i dont think they actually have much to do with each other. if anything, i think it went shed image, get rejected, go to different countries, but i think they would have gone either way.
about diru's popularity in japan: they can still fill arenas, but they are not "the hot thing" at all anymore... now its all about tiny indies bands that no one knows about... gazette is probably the biggest VK band at the moment. a lot of people know the name Dir en grey but its more of an infamy and a kind of "oh i remember someone mentioning that"... and they did lose a lot of FEMALE fans with the switch from VK... because 80% of VK bands' fanbases are female... Dir en grey has actually gained more male fans with the switch, but its still no where close to 50/50
MANRYKYRO
Aug 30, 2007, 10:21

I'm going to try and convert my fiance though. He has a good taste in European music, so I'm in with a good chance. :cool: Although he's really talented at music (grade 8 in two instruments and music theory, MA in music, and used to be a music teacher :souka: ) so it'll take more than just any old crap... haha. :p

Well not nessecarily! Alot of people actually haven't listened to it yet :( My friend considers Marrow of a bone 'nightmare music' XD so she refuses. But she perfers Kisou... myaku, child prey, and merciless cult live :O
Marrow is interesting. I personally love it ^_^ But sometimes I can't stand it... It's like a battle album. I look forward to it for the metal end of it, not the slow ones because they are a little boring. It all depends on what mood Im in. I find myself picking out the drums, the bass, and the guitar riffs more than any previous album too. It's good. Kyo voice is decent. The screams are great, the high-pitched ones are hilarious.
RevengeBabyYeah
Aug 31, 2007, 00:31

You guys know what 'Tesco' is right? Well I looked on their website and they have Diru albums from just £8.something. They have GazettE and one thing of Malice Mizer too. Cool:p
Tesco? You mean the department store place that's like Walmart and Costco? I never knew that place sold CDs.....oh wait....ya I did, but I never knew they sold any good CDs.... Tesco continues to amuse me.

pinkbuta304 People who film festival footage have a very clever way of making things look much further away than they are. I'm not sure how they did it. But I will sit at the back, able to see everything and look at the screne and on the screne it looks like youd see nothing from where I was. They do it all the time!

i'm doing Beautiful Dirt right now... ebonyincreme are you still going to do Red...[em]? i was thinking of doing it too, but now im having second thoughts XD i think i might do jesus christ r'nr instead
i know i read a good macabre one somewhere... im not sure if jely ann did it or not...
and just a note, i think we should also discuss the lyrics and stuff... like add on to other people's interpretations andf such... or like discuss and ask about things in the lyrics that we dont understand, yes?

I think that's a really good idea...although Kyo's lyrics are sometimes clear (I mean there aren't million ways of how to interpret '**** you'), I don't really know what he wants to say with them...and he doesn't talk about them in interviews...so discussing them here would be really cool!!!!:cool:

Sep 10, 2007, 07:46
okay :-)
Machiavellism title analysis: I believe this is in referance to Machiavelli, who wrote the book "The Prince". It's about taking control and keeping it, mostly "ends justifies the means" stuff (the wikipedia article if anyone's more interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niccolo`_Machiavelli). In reguards to the lyrics of the song, i think it's ironic in many ways because Kyo comes off as powerless in the song, like a puppet almost. At the same time he's trying to take control, both of himself and of the audience. I mention the latter because he has said before (sorry i dont have a direct source right now ;_;) that it almost feels like the audience cries out for blood since he started cutting--that he's no longer in control and he feels like the audience becomes upset/dissapointed in him when he does not harm himself on stage. the "ends justifying the means" also applies-- though his stage life is unhealthy in general mentally as well as physically, he does it because it will all be worth it if someday he finds his meaning and communicates his true feelings from the heart.
```
[ BEAUTIFUL DIRT ]
To understand this song, I think itfs necessary to analyze the last line before the rest. In Beautiful Dirt, Kyo is accusing and threatening gheh/gyouh. But at the end he says gYou know me, I just shut my eyes to my own shortcomings... heheh. Thus I think that this is actually a self-hate song (or even split-personality)c as if Kyo were screaming at his reflection in a mirror. eShutting onefs eyes to onefs shortcomingsf is a form of denial. Thus Kyo accuses gyouh and not gIh. In this context, the gyou know meh also employs Kyofs warped humor, as the gyouh and gIh are in fact the same person; Kyo. The giggle at the end clues one in to his twisted reasoning, like a child that canft help but laugh as he lies to his parents.
He looks down on me
So, I will love him until I die
His face is his number one pride
Stupid ************
Die
The accusations are directed first at gheh, more removed than gyouh. The first two lines remind me of older and younger siblings; often the younger one looks up to the older one, though the older one can hardly ever be bothered with the younger one. All the same, the smaller sibling will unconditionally love them. In Kyofs case, this means the gheh part of himself is the older sibling. Also in Kyofs case, he gwill love him until I dieh BECAUSE gheh looks down on Kyoc again with the denial, the part of Kyo that is talking hates itself, and it loves the other part for recognizing that when even it itself cannot. All the same, later in the very same stanza Kyo commands the gheh side of himself to die. Early on, it is clear that one of the characteristics Kyo hates (about himself) is vanity as well.
He deceives me
No, actually he's being deceived by me
Go to hell and get the **** out of my way
You baby boy
The conflict over gwhofs winningh the deception brings much more literal meaning to the phrase ginner battleh. Another interesting thing happens in this stanza, as Kyo switches from gheh, more distant, to gyouh, the more aggressive article. However, I think the aggression comes out of defense, as the uncertainty of the gbattleh brings Kyo a step closer to admitting his denial. As a defense he switches to aggressive insult in his insecurity, like a wounded animal. In any case the gIh sees the gyouh side as the innocent one, using the word gbabyh.
He respects me
But he doesn't want to admit it
Don't be spellbound by your weakness
Why don't you just go and kiss up to that ho
Regaining composure, Kyo, attempting to reaffirm himself, states that ghe respects me/ but he doesnft want to admit ith, an empty and unproven statement woven more from Kyofs bravado than any real fact. However in the next line he slips up a little, as indicated by the use of gyouh. Kyo has already illustrated his own weakness, so one does not know which gyouh the statement is directed at. It could be a lash out at gheh for not admitting respect, but this would come from a place of insecurity; getting mad about it. It could also be him snapping at himself, frustrated with his own weakness for craving the respect of his other self, frustrated with his own weakness at existing and getting in the ggoodh halffs way. Then he brings in a girl, as assumed from the derogative word ghohc and I also assume that she isnft an actual prostitute, as Kyo seems to just be snapping about her and trying to get to the gyouh by calling her that. This brings up an interesting dynamic; almost a love triangle. The gheh/hyouh side of Kyo loves the girl, while the gIh side of Kyo is like a parasite on the gheh and hates the girl for making the gheh feel the way it does, or maybe even for tainting the other, better, innocent half (in this case the girl could be more ho-ly, persay).
I'm gonna hit you up with this here fresh
I'm gonna hit you up with that there fresh
This stanza is about how Kyo is a gangstaaa.
Here is the very best ballad for you
You drown in hypocritical sin
The very best ballad for you
The one I love and adore number-4
The first line is ironic, as the song is not a ballad at all. Itfs like Kyo is saying that the gyouh (and again, the use of gyouh shows Kyo is particularly weak at that moment) does not deserve a love song; that dirt is as beautiful a thing as he deserves.
I'm gonna hit you up with this here tower
I'm gonna hit you up with that there tower
Kyofs a gangstaaac I still donft knowc but the threat seems to grow more dangerous. I think he also is just going crazy, because it makes less and less sense. I mean, he obviously is not mentally 100% in these lyrics in the first place, as he is hating on/talking to himself one moment but also saying he loves him and GAHc
blow
This word is in English and separated from the other words as it stands alone. To me it seems almost like a sound effect, like in those cartoons where everything is teetering on the edge of a cliff and it is the feather that slowly floats down on the top that tips the scale. The final gblowh is what does it, sending Kyo into pure hatred, denial, and aggression, maybe even to the point of utter madness.
You, just living is a pollution
You, just living is a sin
You are living, So please die
You know me, I just shut my eyes to my own shortcomings... hehe
Kyo snaps, not holding back at all in his screaming anymore. He uses strong insults, but he also uses gyouh, so Kyo is feeling weak despite ethe blamef landing on the other self (in Kyofs head at least). Kyo hates the innocent part of himself, the part that loves the girl. However the next line is very juvenile, with very simple sentence structure and logic (gyou are living, so please dieh). Maybe the side that is speaking is in fact the innocent side? Again, Kyofs denial destroys itself and his self-hate cannot be contained. And finally, the last line giving in to his weakness, to the denial, as he slips completely into madness, parting with that strangely innocent yet disturbing giggle.
```
[ AMBER ]
The spring breeze makes the uneasy sound as my dreams crumble and my future breaks.
I have no morec
I believe Kyo is describing his a death in this songc His gdreams [crumbling]h could easily just be a betrayal or a crash with reality, however his gfuture breaksh. Kyo could possibly have gone through a falling-out with the one he loves (as we know Kyo well enough to realize that the only thing that could completely shatter his future is a broken heart), but his tender and loving words to his significant other lead one to believe that he has not, in fact, had his heart broken. It is clear that he and his love are separated or separating, whether this means Kyofs death, his significant otherfs, or even both. He trails off with gI have no morech, both to cut off his connection to/the understanding of the audience as well as his own life... his literal or metaphoric life one still does not know.
I want to be with you more, I want to be near you.
I try to hide my weak tears behind a smile, but I canft hide anymore.
My years of dreaming, at the end, will my true self be there?
His wish to be with the ganonymous girlh he loves once again means they were together, but now are separate (no duh). Kyo tries to hide his weakness\his sadness for her death or his own inability to live\for her benefit. Yet despite all the love he has for her, he canft pretend and he canft actc both he cannot hide who he is and he does not have the strength. After so much time spent wearing a mask of happiness, hefs not sure he remembers his own face. Which begs the question: did SHE see who he really was? With the second reference to dreams, one can see that many years of Kyofs life have been spent ein a dreamf. Thus when his gdreams crumbleh in the first stanza, his life itself\his persona, his hopes, his ideals\could very well end. Kyofs death becomes more likely than that of his ganonymous girlh.
I tried so hard to bear with it, I even put out my hand.
But what it all comes down to was now;
wefre in hell under his control.
So this is the end I tell you,
Lights will be turned off and the stage will turn to darkness.
Kyo tried to continue; gto bear with ith, gith meaning life. He tried to live like a normal, happy person, even reaching out to someone\the girl\but in the end it didnft bring him a happy ending. All he has left is the sadness and loss of this moment. gWefre in hell under his controlh implies that Kyo and the girl have no say over their destinies\like they were doomed to unhappiness by God from the beginning. This imagery continues with the metaphor of the stagec their lives have been nothing but a show for some greater being, their pain forgotten as it all g[turns] to darknessh.
Let me hear your voice more. I still want to be here.
Goodbye to an anonymous girl I loved from my heart.
I remember the promise we made, by the spring breeze I felt in my back.
My tears mix with blood, and it brings to life my new dream in my heart.
gI still want to be hereh most likely means it is Kyo who is dying, and not the anonymous girl. The word ganonymoush is also interesting; does this mean that the girl does not want anyone to know that she is with him? Or maybe that he never in fact met her? Maybe it means that her face and name are not important at all, just that he loved her, though it could be any scenario. I personally like the ghas never met herh idea, but that one doesnft necessarily work the best with the other lyrics.
The use of gyouh, however, makes the listener out to be the ganonymous girlh. Perhaps the nameless fans whom he loves so much are the objects of his affection. This brings new meaning to the earlier lyrics of the song as well. gI try to hide my weak tears behind a smile, but I canft hide anymoreh becomes about his status as a role model to so many fans. He must feel the pressure to sing some optimism to them, to help give them a meaning, but he himself does not know his own meaning, and for that he feels weak. He cannot hide his darkness and depression. After the gyears of dreamingh, of singing on stage to masses, of gidolh status, of weaving and becoming characters (other lyrics in other songs, such as embryo, mazoheist of decadence, etc.), he is not sure if the person he was before he became gKyoh exists anymorec He persevered in the music business, he geven put out [his] handh, reaching out to (most likely) his band mates, but in the end he is still doomed, like he was before he started. No meaning lends itself to the stage imagery, as it is his lifec the gfate worse than deathh that Kyo is now facing is not in fact his own physical death, but a death from the stage and from his fans. That is what he fears most. In the this stanza, Kyo wants to hear the fansf voices; cheering, singing, crying. He wants to forever stand on the stage, he gstill [wants] to be hereh.
gThe promiseh, most likely a promise of love (to forever be together etc.) was made in the spring, a time of new life. At the beginning of the song, he mentions that gthe spring breeze makes uneasy soundsh, so it has been a year or a number of years since the promise was first made. However that time is past now and the mood is now uneasy. In regards to the second interpretation, maybe the band formed in spring? I canft really analyze this part because I donft know. His weak sadness becomes more tangible and dangerous, as gtears mix with bloodh. His deep depression may have rashly lead to his death\a suicide\yet now he realizes too late that he really does want to live for the nameless girl. Most likely it was less simple; he may have unconsciously sabotaged himself. But now in his last moments, he realizes his gnew dreamh: his love for the girl. If the girl is the fans, however, the blood is clearly from his performance. The blood crystallizes what he was once unsure about, causing him to see what really matters.
Until our voices go out, at last.
Let's sing until our voices go out.
Voices seem to be a personfs essence in Kyo-landc with that in mind, by saying that he wants to sing with the girl, he wants to go on with her foreverc he wants to bare his true self to her, his raw humanity and real emotions. This is a big deal in Kyo-dom, since he admits he is very guarded (earlier on stating gI even put out my handh, gevenh showing intense reluctance to reach out). If the girl is in fact the fans, the meaning remains essentially the same, if not more literal. He wants to continue doing what hefs doing, and he wants them (us) to continue what wefre doing\singing with and supporting him.

@ Dakki Thank you very much. I understand more of Kyo's words now.
Does anyone know what Ryoujoku no Ame translates to in english? I just know it's something about/with Rain? I need it for my Careers class project. Although that might change.
@ HitsugiMad hmm right now I'm really into pretty much every song.
It took me a long time to realize what I was doing, but I just figured out that every morning I try to listen to every Diru song. I'll be listening to my ipod from the second I wake up to the very last second before the teacher gets mad.
I spent my weekend watching an auction for Kyo's second poem book. With one day left, the price was 75$ US. With about 30 mins left, the price was 327$ US (CDN I don't remember). I was sitting in my chair super upset. I was honestly going to bid for that book. I wanted it so badly. But I lost fair and Square (I didn't even bother placing a bid. No way I can get 300$ in 3 days). I just found it amazing how much it went for. Hopefully someday I'll get the chance to read its words.

@hitsugimad- yea me too! at first i totally didnt like that song but i just love it now... i was going to analyze it next actually XD but i have a TEN PAGE PAPER DUE TOMORROW THAT I HAVENT STARTED ON STILL ;_; so ill work on it later...
the translation i have for Ryojouku no Ame:
[ OFFENSIVE RAIN/RAIN OF INSULTS ]
Not one person is without sin
Bruised by the lukewarm rain
Lies are being unearthed
But somewhere they're being rooted out
Even today those fleeting words are gone
The mistakes--buried
And a pure, blue memory of holding someone
Tears of a heart-felt wish blurring my eyes
Living in the moment--losing strength
Tears of heart-felt torment
Praying as the evening sun floats
Burning from the inside
Crying with pain
This is something you cannot help
Tears of missing kindness and compassion
My heart goes out to the place of my birth
The reason I've lost my soul...
Did I lack the strength?
It is then proof of sadness, caused by absolute justice
In the lukewarm rain which does not stop...
i have a copy of those lyrics in my wallet :3 but i got them when R no A just came out, so im sure there are better translations out there now... oh well... you get the idea ^_^

OMGACKT!!!!!! you gave me something to read^^...my brain is still suffering :p
but I really liked your interpretations!!! and for the lyrics...I'll read them, when my brain is alive again:p
but (I hope you won't be mad now)...there's just an idea which crossed my mind while reading your interpretation of Amber, and I thought since you said we shoudl discuss the lyrics I just say it^^
While reading I just had to think of a story like: he's in love with a girl (maybe he only saw her once but he knows that he truely loves her), but their love is forbidden (for whatever reasons, maybe society or things like that)...the 'he' in the sentence 'we're in hell under his control' could be her father, who can control her as well as him (maybe he works for him or something like that)...since he can't stand that anymore he kills her (the tears mixed with blood), so he can be together with her (if he dies) and doesn't have to suffer when she will marry another man or also just the suffering from not being able to be with her. 'spring' would fit in well, too, since spring is the time of love and now that this love isn't lucky spring feels 'uneasy'. the last part with the 'voices' is for all theories the same I think. He just wants to say that he wants to stay with the girl forever. You know a lot of people say that they still talk with dead persons (on their graves or just so) and in his world singing is the way of communication.
I really hope that made sense at all!!!! if not..well...then it just depends on my crazy-unlogical mind!!!xDD

@hitsugimad- sure! tsukiyo's awesome (i know since it was the first forum i joined too ^_^) but if you still need the lyrics after looking just ask ^_^
@blacksoul- wow i never thought about the "him killing her" thing... the rest makes a lot of sense too... like a twisted Romeo and Juliet!! his lyrics really leave a lot for the reader/listener to see... even allowing one to project themselves onto his lyrics... Amber was the first song i REEEEEEEALLY connected with... yea ^_^

xFanGirl- Kodou Translation:
The sadness on the face will probably be gone tomorrow
When did my eyes become dead?
What is waiting for me tomorrow as I sing and live without meaning?
Alone in my room as my heartbeat screams
Don't kid yourself and don't fool yourself
I am addicted to the perceived fate
I am alone I linger on to this fate
Don't kid yourself don't wound yourself
Kill the voice Close your eyes Drown in the darkness Roam around
I won't depend on anyone anymore
Kill the voice Close your eyes Drown in the darkness Roam around
I keep inside me your keen voice...
All in darkness
The unstoppable rain The unstoppable sound The unstoppable scar
The unstoppable love The unstoppable song...
I can't stop it anymore
I can't handle it anymore
It's such an irony this sunny bright weather
- Good Morning -

I know, he's a real poet!!! his lyrics are really deep and thoughtfull
@dakkii
it seems I have a thing for dramatic stories :p
that thing just popped up in my mind^^
yes his lyrics leave a lot of room to interpret, but at the same time they are not that hard to understand!! I really like that!! I wish I can write lyrics like that one time, too!!!xDD

I wish this was official, but, I've been reading some rumors about at deg's new 'dozing green' tour, apparently their setlist is gonna consist of some songs from macabre...
HOW FOOCHING AWESOME WOULD THAT BE O_O!!?!?!?! gaaaaaahhhh hopefully this is true :(
dirujjj
Sep 15, 2007, 14:33
That would be awesome! According to a set list on Batsu they played from Macabre : Deity, riyuu, and rasetsukoku. Shokubeni and Ugly too... ^^

Yeah I read that too, glad to hear it. I know some people were particularly concerned about the lack of pre-Vulgar stuff in lives. Looks like they retired IIID Empire though...ah well it had a good life but I think it could have been so much better live.
So is anyone going to the Fuse London gig?
dirujjj
Sep 16, 2007, 03:47
I bet they'll play IIID empire at least a couple times during the tour.
I've never gotten to see Diru live before...my parents won't let me go. :(

they retired the IIID EMPIRE?! aww why?! It's an awesome live song!!!
It would be so awesome if they did play Macabre stuff! :cool:
I would love to hear deity and ugly live!!!
dirujjj- i'm sure you'll be able to go sometime

Sep 16, 2007, 11:36
i think i got one of the last "MR NEWSMAN"s at IS... which is upsetting because its such a perfect concert song... heck, song IN GENERAL... IIID EMPIRE as well... but maybe its just taking a break, you know? anyways, with the reappearance of Macabre songs, anything's possible, ya know?! XD
dirujjj
Sep 16, 2007, 13:59
Yes I know I can go sometime...as soon as I leave my parents :cool:
I think it would be crazy if they played like Berry or something completely unexpected like that. Fans would go crazy ^^
