when i was first introduced to DeG i was attracted to their music. to tell you the truth, i didnt like their looks...(i wasnt used to looking at guys who look like girls)^^;;; but i got used to that and now i think they are very beautiful ^_________^ i think they is why people dont really accept vk T_T

Enora
Jan 30, 2005, 04:22
lol i asure you they do not have any happy songs... :relief: there are "high" songs though...

I meant that some of their songs sound "happy". ( :worried: ) I don't know how to say it but I'm sure you know what I mean....

Songs like Audrey or Umbrella or Yokan are really good "to bring good mood"....

But I know that the lyrics of Kyo can be very different from what the song sounds....

mizerable_d
Jan 30, 2005, 04:29
ooo yes. yokan is very unbringing.umbrella sounded like fun sing along(but then the lyrics *sweatdrop*) Children and Jessica sounds upbeat as well. i thought 304goshitsu hakushi no sakura was happy until i read the lyrics...and cried T_T

Diru's music tends to be more dark but its not EXTREMELY dark. Sad and twisted at times yes but not really dark (I am twisted in the brain so yeh....-_-;;;; )

Im not Gothic despite what people like to believe... I dont really think of myself as punk either...I am a VK fan so I guess you could call me very visual, which I am XDDD, but I dont really fit into and catagories like that....

haha Well Obscure, You have it better then me. The only people in my school who like VK are the ones I have introduced to it, my sister and my friend Ryan....wait no Suzanna too...so really that leaves only 2 fans before I came and both are more Gackt fans and the such.

Jan 30, 2005, 22:47
tell me this: would you guys give EVERYTHING youLve got to meet diru? How important is diru to you? Are you really really REALLY devoted, or are you satisfied only listening to their CDs and downloading some pics...? (just testing....)

Enora
Jan 30, 2005, 22:58
Your questions are quite weird Isayhello.... :okashii:

Anyway about dir en grey I would say that my dream at the moment is to see them live!!!! Listenning to their CD and watching their dvds is not enough....

I hope my dream will come true and that they will come in Europe very soon.......

lol yes my friends find me very twisted and disturbing for liking Diru's PVs and looks, but meh.

you both have it better than me, there's like 2 anime fans who only know wat vk is but dont listen and one of my friend only likes Diru cuz i got her into it...^^;;;

tell me this: would you guys give EVERYTHING youLve got to meet diru? How important is diru to you? Are you really really REALLY devoted, or are you satisfied only listening to their CDs and downloading some pics...? (just testing....)
i wouldnt give EVERYTHING i've got. i mean i need it to live. one day i was thinking about going to their live and meeting them then i would kill my self but it just dont work...lol but i really wish to see them live! im saving up for it too! lol i would have to pay everything from ticket to travel fee to hotel to food so i still need a job, but im working hard towards it! :box: lol only if they could come to canada, or even the US! then i can drive or fly depending on distance and it would cost less than going t japan! but i want to go to japan so ya... i will stop talking now...

Kyo is NOT the leader!!! The leader is Kaoru, the most serious and mature in the band!!!

Kyo usually sleeps during interviews.... I can't imagine him being the leader.... No way....

isayhello
Jan 31, 2005, 05:29
is this because youLre into Kaoru or is it true... (^_^)

Enora
Feb 1, 2005, 00:07
The "clichés" of dir en grey"s member:

- Kyo: enjoys sleeping, lying, hurting himself.....

- Kaoru: enjoys working, being scary and working....

- Die: enjoys laughing like a mad man, having fun of Shinya, .... He has a really great smile!!!!!

Toshiya: enjoys being sexy, flirting, having fun and he can cry very easyly....

- Shinya: very shy at a first sight but have a wonderful smile as well. And he also has too big arms for his girly face I think....

Ok.... That was stupid, I don't know them but that's what is usually said on them.....

i have a short interview clip of kyo and kaoru talking about something...you can pm me if you want it ^^

Feb 1, 2005, 05:24
Thanks, Enora: So Kyo likes lying and hurting himself? Maybe he should get a new habit, playing tennis..? haha.

Thanks also Miz, that homepage is good, (I havenLt finished reading it yet...) Now I have checked up a lot about diru and seen a lot of pictures. Man, those guys are really beautiful, I mean, they are really really REALLY good-looking! I love the pictures taken on various concerts, instead of in a studio - the concert ones are more real, and they still look sooooooo good. Die HAS a great smile.

I would wanna see this video-clip with Kyo and Kaoru, but pm?? whadda? besides, my computer is messed up right now, we donLt even have media player, haha.

Are the members of diru always depressed - they seem a little "dark", not only their image, but also the members themselves, they seen a little melancholy. (sp?)
Shinya seems really depressed about life?

Enora
Feb 1, 2005, 05:49
They are not always depressed, they have a lot of fun together!!!! Just watch them backstage.... Even Kyo can be "happy" sometimes... (I think of Miyaku making of when he is jumping up and down.... )

And Shinya is not that depressed, he can smile as well (especially when there are animals around....)

I can't remember who it was, but someone from this site had emailed me Dir En Grey mp3's...I listened to a few of them and at first I wasn't interested in any of the songs except Machiavellism, but now I've gotten more curious and have started listening to more of their songs and I've been stuck on their song Cage for a few days now..I just repeatedly listen to it..I can't get enough of it..I know its a pretty old song of their's but its still really really good...^^

isayhello
Feb 4, 2005, 04:53
oooh. right. umbrella... like the sound of that.

Illaparatzo-sama
Feb 4, 2005, 04:59
Jessica, Umbrella, Yokan. Berry has quite a happy sounding chorus, even if it is extremely miserable in reality. Machiavellism, ZOMBOID, Domestic Fxxker Family and Children are upbeat, too. Child Prey is... very energetic, but not HAPPY. audrey is laid back, but again, not necessarily happy. And then there is, of course, R to the core. It's only about two minutes long, but still pretty good.

Enora
Feb 4, 2005, 05:01
Don't forget Tayio no ano and garden as well: they sound happy as well I think....
I just love the bass solo in Garden....

Ok, ok, Maybe you all heard that song a thousand years ago, but I'm a little slow and only just started... AND NOW I WANT TO EXPRESS MY FEELINGS FOR THEM AND THAT SONG and THE VIDEO. I do it like this:

Talking about Withering to Death I was at a book shop the other day and I was checking out the music magazines and I saw a one page advertisement for Withering to Death and there was this group picture of Dir en Grey and I was shocked to see how everyone looks have changed. They don't look anything like before. Kyo got my attention since he looks like an old man now the only member I could picture the same was Shinya.

Maybe that was just one weird picture...

Their look for Withering to death is really nice, especially Kyo's. He looks great without weird contacts and bleached hair. Toshiya and Kaoru have looked pretty much the same since Vulgar, with slight changes here and there, and Die looks good. Shinya is just boring. :|

Tsuki to tawamure
Feb 18, 2005, 15:49
The plot? The assassination of Kyo, maybe? How each of the members had their own role to play, although I have no idea why on earth Shinya needed to kill some guy in the ladie's bathroom. wtf. *shrugs.*

Shinya is just boring. :|
I don't think so, but each to his own. :P

I really like how Kyo looks. A few of my friends think he looks ****** with the short hair, but I think it looks rather nice on him. =\ We get to see more of those beautiful eyes. <3333

I think Totchi just looks like a crackwhore. :sorry: Please don't maim me for my opinion. Thank you.

Toshiya looks like a crackwhore...? CRACKWHORE! CRACKWHORE! -giggles insanely-

Anyway, now that I've got that out of my system...Xb

KR[Cube] does have a plot I suppose. Kyo's an evil pimp. Shinya's either a murdering hoe or just some psycho who doesn't like drunks. Toshiya's Kyo's *****. Die's some asassinator and Kaoru...Well, he's just Kaoru...? Xb

So yesh, it's all about killing Kyo...How rude!

And as for Shinya, he may just be "boring" as you oh-so elegantly put it, but at least he's a talented drummer. And hey! He's pretty too! And even better! He's around hot JRockers all the time, no? XDD

Illaparatzo-sama

they changed their style on vulgar
is withering to death 'old-fashioned' again?

mizerable_d

i loved the vulgar style. withering to death is probably the most different style of all of Diru's past styles...i think. on their website the pics look so "normal"...and they all have really short hair except totchi and shinya.

I have to say that I adore Cage because it was my first song, Yokan, and Ain't afraid to Die. Berry fits in there somewhere as well. I havn't seen many PV's, so you'll have to excuse my little knowledge on them.
As for my fav member? IT's either Karou or Kyo. I lurve Kyo's voice andKarou is,well. . Karou XP . Shinya's awsome at drums, but I just don't see him playing them. I want to see Shinya play Guitar. LEast fav mmeber. IS, well, Die due to my lack of intrest and knowledge on him. Poor Die. T_T

i think kyo is the greastest. not just of Diru, of all musicians...^^
Diru really changes their style basically every album. the Gauze look was similar to their indies time look, macabre was a little bit different but i cant really describe, kisou was really different(again cant describe it due to me sucking at descirbing), Vulgar is a more dark look and now they're pretty much "normal" looking...

There're a lot there, and it's really good cause you can zoom in on the kanji to 300 or 400%. For romaji lyrics, try http://www.finalfantasy-world.de/deg/lyrics.htm, though it doesn't have the more recent songs.

Centigrade-J also has a large section of Deg lyrics, translated and romaji. http://www.centigrade-j.com/translations/direngrey.htm

eh..hello I am new here but I have been a fan of Diru for a very long time  . Diru's P.V.s are cool I have alot of them on my computer, they are awesome and I love their style. I actually have ordered Diru's Withering to Death, their new album, and I'm so happy and I can't wait to get it ^-^

Also I noticed earlier that the posts from awhile ago [sorry if this is late] about their personalities and something about them being dark and having fun too O_o that is kinda true.. I um..know people who have met them, they said that Kyo was a very nice person to hold a conversation with and Kaoru and Toshiya were very interesting and they got along very well. I didn't ask that much detail but they aren't the "deep dark people" that some people think they are. Eh..well..I've said what I wanted to say..eh..viva la pistachio! gothic lolita is kawaii - specially when itLs really really doll-like. (so nice!)

besides, pretty difficult to dress like the Dir en Grey-members do. I mean, where could you get the clothes!!?!? (NOT in Sweden at least. seems like japan has the coolest stores.)

I dress Visual Kei-ish every day. Before I found out bout' j-rock I didn't have a style. I looked really boring. But when I found out bout J-Rock and Diru I started dressing that way cause I thought their style was THE COOLEST EVER! And I still do. My favorite color has always been purple. ^^ And as in Sweden Norway dosn't hold any cool Visual Kei stores. So I make my own designed clothes. And I also cosplay Kaoru. ^^

wait.. you make your own clothes? you sew them yourself? Or you just design them and let someone sew them?

I really couldn't make my own clothes. and having someone sew them is expensive!!

I'll have to go to Tokyo instead... :-)

if im making a full costume i sew it myself, but normally i buy things and put them togeher, vk-styled things are pretty expensive to buy, so sewing is alot cheaper.

You know, speaking of bass...I must be one of the only people that don't think Shinya or Toshiya shined until Vulgar. I hardly hear any drums or bass lines that are all that catchy in any of their previous CDs. But in Vulgar, most of the songs have you on the edge of your seat waiting for the drums or bass to come in.

Illaparatzo-sama
Feb 26, 2005, 03:12
I think Shinya's started coming in most obviously on Kisou, with tracks like ZOMBOID, Domestic ****er Family, FILTH and Karasu, and was really impressive on Six ugly. Bass was obvious from Macabre, with songs like egnirys cimredopyh and KR Cube. I've never had a problem not being able to hear them or with catchy drums or basslines not being around. $$$

Japanimaniac
Feb 26, 2005, 03:39
Not so much that I haven't been able to hear them as they just don't catch my attention like they do in Vulgar. Like I said, probably just me. But Audience Killer Loop, The IIId Empire, Syokubeni, Red...[em], Drain Away, Obscure, and Child Prey all thrive off of killer bass or drums, or both. And it's no secret that Sojou No Uta would be nothing without it's bass. -shrug- Just happens to be what my ears hear, and what pleases them.

Ok... I just discovered this site. Apparently this organization is trying to persuade Dir en Grey to come to America. They are trying to prove that there is a big enough fan-base here and fans willing to travel to see them perform. They hope to hold the concert somewhere in the Mid-West.

Don't worry... I checked. It's a recent site and was updated just yesterday.

I'm not sure that it would even work, but what could it hurt to sign the petion? I did. They don't even have 50 signatures yet and they have a goal of 3,500 signatures.

Please share this website on other forums, with friends, and such. Who knows... it could actually work. Like I said... it can't hurt either.

For more information go here (http://www.gaiaonline.com/gaia/redirect.php?r=http://home.wi.rr.com%2Fthemessiah%2FBackwardReflection%2 FInvasion%2520America.html)

You've got PLC that i think finished their tour and now are on their way( if not done already) to disbanding,

Uhhhh.

What the ****?
No. PLC is not disbanding, nor are they on their way to it. They're doing what are called "side projects". They don't have a tour scheduled for this summer, so they're expanding their horizons a bit. Aya and seek are only doing a temporary thing with Isabelle, Yura-sama is doing a quickie tour, and Daishi has for the forseeable future only this one single scheduled and done with. They have an autumn tour scheduled, I'm sure. If solo workings were a sign of disbandment, L'arc would be years dead.

So many to choose from! Dir en grey is my favorite Japanese band and Kyo's voice is just so... original, although, he can be out of tone at times (GOMEN NASAI KYO!!!), but their music still kicks ***.
My favorite songs include:
Cage
Akuro No Oka
Yokan
raison detre
ASH
Mr. NEWSMAN
umbrella
HOTARUBI
ZOMBOID
GYAKUJOU TANNOU KELOID MILK
MUSHI
Shinsou #3
SYOKUBENI/SHOKUBENI
KASUMI
DRAIN AWAY
OBSCURE
Child Prey
Merciless Cult-saku-
GARBAGE
THE FINAL
KODOU

Yeah, I know a LOOONG list, but do note, I actually cut some (or a lot, depends on the way you look at it ^^) songs off of this list to make it... err. somewhat shorter *nervous laugh* :relief:

This is hard :?

Raison D'etre was the first song I got hooked on... I saw the PV and was like .

But Pink Killer was the song I got stuck on for the longest (nearly 4 months) I couldn't go a day without listening to it at least 5 times... It's probably my favorite. :p

Average_Psycho
Jun 13, 2005, 02:39
I like that PV... O_o
But for me, I didn't have my computer *hugs it desperately* until about a year ago, and all my friends were going on and on about Dir en grey, and I felt so... deprived. So the first song I actually heard from Dir en grey, was OBSCURE, and since I heard that song, I knew that all their stuff was great, and so... my obsession began ^^ But I really do love a lot of their older stuff as well, like Ain't Afraid To Die and Cage - Toshiya's bass is KILLER! - and other random songs... >_>

Jun 13, 2005, 02:44

At the moment, what I ordered, was of course, the AATD single, Gauze (I LOOOVE that CD!!!), Withering to death, and FINAL 2003 5 Ugly Kingdom. Did you know they're releasing 2 more PV DVDs? Average Fury, due the 29th of this month, and Average Psycho due the 27th of July... I'm buying those next as well ^^ :-)

They won't pay attention with a petition. I know someone who tried to get a tour set up for them, clubs and all, and the management (Dynamite Tommy in particular) ignored them. Dynamite Tommy is a jackass and he'll only let them play somewhere that he thinks will make him money. If he doesn't think that, they're not going anywhere. One major reason why they're barely branching out into Europe after all this time.

From what Illaparatzo has said I believe if they come here it would be somewhere that fans can easily get to, but would still be a big enough based to make a large profit. At first I thought it was to ...westy. You know, not j-rock enough. But then I think I realized it was just because I had listened to so much j-rock I couldn't make out the clear difference anymore :p
I think it's a really good album. You just have to get used to the style.
Two of the slow songs I'm not really crazy about though. It's really backround music, I have diffeculties keeping my mind on the music, I just drift off.
But Saku, Machiavellism, Garbage, Jesus Christ... all of those I really like.
But I do miss the more alternative, j-rocky songs. The ones who could have bass solos without you really thinking about it, just because you expected them to be so varied.

Here I go writing a long post again. I wonder if anyone ever bothers to read them :relief:

You think ITOSHISA HA FUHAI NITSUKI is long? What about number 13? HIGEKI HA MABUTA WO OROSHITA YASASHIKI UTSU.. What about THAT one? THAT'S even LONGER.
And btw, I love Withering to death. I can't really choose a favorite song from it, but I really love Merciless Cult, KODOKU NI SHISU, YUE NI KODOKU, THE FINAL, Spilled Milk and KODOU. It is one of my fav. Diru CDs but choosing a fav. anything ahs always been hard. In order of major albums (not including MISSA, or six Ugly) from fav. to least fav. we have....
1. VULGAR
2. KISOU
3. Withering to death.
4. MACABRE
5. GAUZE

God, it was so hard putting those in order >_< I love them all so much! -cries over hard desicions- But yes, VULGAR is definitely my fav. Diru album. It has OBSCURE afterall, and Child Prey, KASUMI, DRAIN AWAY, aww HELL, they're all so good! But yes, keep in mind, that these are all closely compared. I'm just saying it how I feel it is like, I love them all very much though and I can't wait to have my own originals of MACABRE,KISOU, and VULGAR (mine are burnt copies from a friend :relief:)
O_O T_T how come GAUZE is in the end? :bawling: lol

hmm i dislike the long names... i can never remember them.

crap you know what i've discovered? the only Diru alums i've actually heard all tracks from are gauze, macabre, and six ugly... o_O_O_O_O_O_o but i have all the songs...

Maybe because it was one of the first songs I heard. I downloaded 3 just out of curiousity. Berry, Raison D'etre, and Pink Killer. I first heard Berry but it weirded me out and took a while to grow on me. Then Raison D'etre which I fell madly in love with and Pink Killer too... I don't need to tell you I was obsessed. :relief: I listened to it all day for like 4 months.

I thought they were titled wrong, though cause all three song were so different... I thought they must be different bands. :relief:

lol thats why i love Diru ^^ i dont really like bands that write similar songs...

my first 3 songs were Machiavellism, Saku, and GDS. lol yup i downloaded the Saku single out of curiosity, and it was great! XD then my friend sent me their whole disography then i got addicted.

Technically I had heard about their song Cage from a lot of my friends, but I never got around to getting the song. As it turns out, the firt Diru song I actually LISTENED to, was OBSCURE. It just finished downloading before Cage. And then I was hooked. OBSCURE shall forever be my favorite Diru song. Cage and everything else comes in second.

And about GAUZE being last, I said it was HARD!!! I love them all EQUALLY but having to make such a decision as that, I was basing everything on Kyo's voice, and because I think that VULGAR was a remarkable album. They had grown so much, gotten so much better and louder, I think it's one of their best albums really.

i love withering to death!! oh man!! but i love all diru, so that's not really saying much...:souka:

hmm...as far as albums go...my order, from most favorite to least is:

1. Withering to Death
2. VULGAR/6 Ugly/Kisou (they are all equal in my eyes)
3. Macabre
4. GAUZE
5. Missa

the first stuff i heard was all from GAUZE and Missa, and i used to love it, but i love each album more and more. i still love all of it. :-) but i like their old stuff more because i'm more into the screamy stuff than indies. not to say i don't like indies, i just prefer screamy.

as to WtD, my favorite songs are Garbage (oh this song rocks awesomely!! :D whatever i may wish is a weed's life, indeed.), Kodou (this song is SO COOL! as is the PV!), Merciless Cult (more screamy!), dead tree (SCREAMY!!), and Machiavellism, in no order. well, Kodou, Garbage, and dead tree are all tied for first.

the first diru song i ever heard was Jessica, although i didn't realise it and so forgot. that was actually my first Jrock song ever. i heard it on a plane on the way home from Britland. i don't remember, i was so concentrated on the BoA song (...my embarrassing pop phase, please pay no mind...). i fail miserably (even if i do listen to some Jpop every once and again...shh, don't tell...) :relief:

and don't listen to PK, DRAIN AWAY IS QUITE OBVIOUSLY THE BEST. i am all-knowing, so you should listen to me. :smug: (won't admit that she hasn't yet heard PK, and is really just caught up with how wonderfully sexy Daisuke is in his Drain Away outfit...) Drain Away is one of the best though, in all seriousness. it's my favorite along with Kodou. :-)

Is Dir en grey Jrock or New metal??
I and some others have had the discussion about that....
What is the right answer!?

mizerable_d
Aug 16, 2005, 21:45
Jrock. they are Japanese and a rock band. also their earlier stuff is not metal so i say Jrock for sure.

Kinsao
Aug 16, 2005, 21:53
I was thinking about this... but I am so unsure of how is defined 'jrock' and 'new metal' that I couldn't answer. I am really not knowledgeable about music categories :sorry: because mainly I just listen and I am so backwards about all the distinctions. I don't even know the difference between new metal and other types (well, some I know, obviously, but I couldn't guarantee to be right every time! :bluush: )

But I would have said they were more of 'rock' than 'metal'... although maybe I am wrong? :?

PrettyPinkSpider
Aug 17, 2005, 01:18
I don't think that "jrock" is an actual genre of music. It's a nationality of music. So yeah, Dir en Grey is obviously Japanese. As for their genre, it's pretty much metal I guess. Or you could just call them visual. Not so much anymore, though...

visual kei is not a genre of music. it's a style in how one dress. i would say that Diru is just rock since only recently they became metal and their earlier stuff vary greatly in sound.

we should see Jrock as a name for al sub-genre's

furan
Aug 17, 2005, 06:56
well.... actually there's supposibly a rule for what chords a band uses inorder the clasify them as metal (stupid as it sounds)
because Sum 41 are but in the 'metal' gunrer in music stores because of the chords they use......

rock, to me, has always been with real instuments - drums, bass, guitar as the basics, and with a real sence to the music... as soon as it becomes corprate then i'd pop-rock. then, metal... usually has in a whole load of other instuments, with a definate theam among it's lyrics - usually heavily depressing.

pop... is usually coparate market type stuff... - symphosisers, up beat stuff, usually about love and appealing to the general teen population...

but those are my definitions, lol :relief:

There is no way I can place Dir en grey in ANY genre. They are too FABULOUS and eclectic (LOL this is coming from a very biased fan, okay? don't yell :p ) and with most music I don't put it into genres or worry about that kind of thing, I just listen to it if I like it :-)

I guess I could call them Rock though.. they are Jrock because that's just Japanese Rock.. haha. It's a very broad category. And they're not really Visual Kei anymore.. Not all Jrock is Visual Kei

I might ask my friend, who is not into the whole Jrock thing but likes Dir en grey, what genre he thinks they are.. Get an outside opinion XD

hayakuchan
Aug 17, 2005, 21:27
mmm... i agree with PrettyPinkSpider, j-rock is about the nationality. Dir en grey is a j-rock band because they're japanese...

about the genre, i'm kinda lost too :relief: for me, their music is rock although it sounds heavier than it... but it's definitely not pop...

I remember I read an article where Kyo said he didn't want to be compared with marilyn manson and claimed that their music is rock...

but, lol, yes.... i managed to draw myself back to life enough to read your post and... i agree... but i'd say that actually... they don;t have one spacific catagory... some of their stuff is under 'rock' and some would be under 'metal'

you can be VK and pop. vk has nothing to do with music.

Ya Diru's music REALLY varies. but they still fall into the borad "rock" category.

mizerable_d
Aug 18, 2005, 00:22
yeah... but.... how does that work?
do you understand it?
like.... how is she clasified as Jpop and PLC (or are they, i forget... and B'z too :?) and Hide (i'm sorry, i love you, but in my opinion ou're styls a little 'too' pop to be rock to me...) aren't?

:worried:
PLC can be considered Jpop/Jrock and VK. hide, i think is Jrock and VK. B'z is jpop/jrock non-VK. thats what i think.

VK is a style in how one dress themselves, so you can look VK and sing pop, or techno or whatever.

then yes... yes i do need to hear more of her songs.... *whimpers* i've wanted to for a while now... :(

lol, i don;t think i could ever call Diru gothic rock.... their content - there's nothign 'gothic' about it...
i've heared goth rock.metal.... and.... it kinda scars me :relief:
not that the music's scary... just that... some of the content is like....

um..... ok.....

neh, Diru are most definatly not goths... i know goths, and they're not it....
(just because someone wears black doesn't make them a 'goth' - no matter what some people may believe :okashii:)

furan
Aug 19, 2005, 01:17
lol

yeah.... Moi dix Mois, Mana.... they're Gothic
but i don;t think... as far as western 'genres' go... they'd be clasified as 'goth rock'

goth rock is usually about committing suicide with your lover under a rose bush growing over an abandond old church whilest screwing....

ok, little bit exagerating (but i'm sure there's a song out there about just that :okashii:)
but the fat is... a lot of 'goths' don't listen to 'goth rock'....
actually... a lot of the people who go round saying they're 'goths' now-a-days... listen to... i dunno, savege garden or something...

for the past.... 5 years, i've had people shouting 'goth' at me or the ever so annoying 'are you a goth?'

err.. no?
geees... just because i wear dark clothing, happend to carry a depressed look on my face most of the time and wear dog collers and heavey eyeliner... dose NOT make me a goth...
*cough* :relief:
no... really, i don't look like a goth... if anything, for a time i looked like a 'metaler', but not a goth... tho... i do have some 'goth' outfits :relief:

argh, i'm having the argument with myself now :relief:

i would say if you were to 'catagorise' Diru int any wester genrer, they'd fall under metal.
some of their songs would be melodic, some symphonic, some heavey, some... possibly even death metal... but... not goth - goth bands tend to have femalevocalists anyways....

*has just remebered that Nightwish are sometimes considered a goth band* - um, their image is.. but their genrer is symphonic metal :relief:

Kinsao
Aug 19, 2005, 01:28
I sort of think of goth music as being a kind of mishmash between The Mission, The Sisters of Mercy, Eve of Destiny, Moi dix Mois, and a cement mixer being operated by a piccolo player.

EDIT: although I do actually like it...

hee hee
you're not old dear... i have friends older XD (and i don't consider them oldeither)

but i think Diru are both.....
Jrock is Japanese rock, and metal is a derivative from rock... therefore you can be Jrock metal.....

i was just using AFI as an example :relief:

you... Diru could NEVER be emo....
and i don't think AFI are really... it's just.. i'm crap when it come to sub-sub catagorising :relief:

i'm just saying, they're drastically different now...

Goth.... hmmm... there is a degree of elegance to it... like, the fashion statment is very lacey and long and flowy....
and... their lyrics tend to be very poetic... to some extent i think Shakespear was kinda gothic... (actually, probaly very gothic ^^;)
it was a movement... i can't remeber when... somewhere around Queen victorias rane... but goths now listen to... what ever they want :relief:

but the catagory would be... i don;t know, i'll have to get an example for you...
ooo the Cure... aren't they goth rock?
and the Crow... that was a gothic film right?

*shrugs* December isn't even listed yet on their page, so I couldn't tell ya. Its just what I heard, no need to sound so critical.
im not being critical, i just want to make sure so i can buy the tickets early. also nothing has been said on offical site or jpophouse... and that other website didnt give much info either.

Are you saying that I'm not the only person who does that? I love picking songs apart and analyzing those separate pieces and then adding them together to see the entire picture. It's actually kind of fun... >_>

I'm preordering my copy. :p

I like it... but I like heavier stuff so.

Aug 21, 2005, 12:48
No your not... and neither am I. I seriously thought I was the only person who did that... whenever I tell people there like... "Ok..... *weird look*" Most people just don't appreciate music on the same level as I do. :(

It VERY fun. :silly:

That's where I come in -grins-

People can look at us weird for picking apart a song, and we can look at each other, throw our heads back, and laugh at them for being so "the same" as everybody else, who does NOT pick apart songs. We are awesome, they are weird.

Aug 21, 2005, 14:23
Damn... another person to be incredibly awesome with. I hope drain away can handle that. :D She is after all my first awesome buddy.

I love the throwing our heads back and laughing ... it's so classic and evil *practices*

Have you listened to six Ugly lately... hot damn. Those are some of the most delicious drum beats I have ever heard. I have a hard time actually listening to any other parts of the songs since I really started focusing on just the drumming.

Aug 21, 2005, 14:36
OH, HELL YEAH! I jsut got the original of six Ugly like 2 weeks ago. That CD, whooo, you're not kidding. I think Shinya composed the music for Ugly and umbrella just so he could put more drums into the songs. And people say he's "delicate" and "too weak-looking" to be a drummer. Psh!

Aug 21, 2005, 14:38
Me too. I LOVE heavy stuff. I always have. It's just.... so much easier for me to listen to. But then again, softer stuff is very good also, just look at -mushi-, embryo, and Bottom of the death valley.

I honestly believe they will come... eventually. I hate to get my hopes up for nothing though so I'm waiting for official news. :-)

I know I don't. I've been listening to that longer sample from the Off. Site, and my two other friends love it just as much as me (but not more, they can't love Diru more than me, I think you and I might be about tied though... not that there's any competition of course ^^).

-cheers you on- You kick them!
I know, eh! (sorry, habituary) Shinya is by far, NOT weak in ANY way! I also read from somewhere that the rest of Diru (Die at least, I think :?), thought that Shinya was the strongest of them all. That's probably true for me as well.

Average_Psycho
Aug 21, 2005, 17:43
Woot! Small people can be strong! And I have first-hand experience to back this up too.

I never siad I was leaving. And I'm not. I know, uploading must be such a pain right now. I'm sorry, it's just... my patience cracked. However, my Willpower is still very good, having gone 4 months witthout Diru's Withering to death. I'd say that I'm due for something nice.

Whew, I'm not the only one.

Yay! It's three in the morning, and guess what?

lol Of course he can take care of himself, he may be the yougnest in the band, but he's not incapable of doing anything. The others should stop teasing him, though, I heard that he's closest friends with Kyo, so I'm not sure if Kyo picks on him. I know Die, Kaoru, and Totchi do for sure.... but I don't think Kyo does......... -is unsure-

*looks at time*

OMG... 5:30. I haven't yawned once either... I'm not tired. I usually stay up to about 3 :relief:

They act as if the man is a teenager. :okashii: If they don't think Shinya is strong... tell them to try to steal Miyu-chan... they'll change there minds. Yea but Shinya is witty. I love him for it to... he make take all the teasing but his subtle humor... :D I've never seen Kyo pick on him... :? Funny cause Die and Shinya always seem like best friends... but what do I know... I'm not around them all the time or claim to know anything.

*nibbles on a Karyu cookie* Baked to perfection... :hihi:

I'm so happy. Can I help with the evil distraction and confusion schemes... *rubs hands together*

Just go to the new releases page on the Dir en grey official website (www.direngrey.co.jp) and scroll down a lil ways under CLEVER SLEAZOID, there should be a clickie thing "Listen" Obviously, you click on that and be patient while the sample loads in a new window. If it doesn't work for you, then I don't knwo what you should do.:? Sorry! :sorry:

.... I wanted to help Demon Hunter out pkk... damnit.... oh well..... that ^^^^^^^ was extremely pointless..... -sighs-

I think I yawned a couple times, and if I did, it was more from boredom than from tirey-sleepyness.

They do treat him like a teenager. It's really unfair. lol, I'd love to see that happen. I could just see Shinya chasing after Die. lol.

Unfortunately, very few people seem to know what really goes on with them all.... damned parents for living in Canada >_<

I'm glad you're enjoying your Karyu. I'm not even halfway finished my HIZUMI cookie... tastes so yummy.

Of course you may! -evil grin- The more help, the quicker to execute the scheme.

Way! Thanks, I finally heard the song! I tend to not like the new Diru songs at first though, that's a bit depressing. But I've sure I'll come around to it.

i agree. they will go to america eventually (lucky bleeping americans) because it's a huge market. but yes im waiting for official news as well. i really hope they don't come so soon... i'd be happier if they came next year and hopefully during the summer or spring break or else i'd never be able to go.

Out of curisoity, how many people have gone to Otakon and heard about this announcement Free-Will America gave out? So far I've heard one person say it. I"ve contacted them and am curious what they'll have to say.

I don't think Dir en grey would really respond in all honesty. I contacted JPop house, Otakon, and Free-Will America.. no one has replied. I do encourage you to contact whatever you can think of too, if it includes the fanmail thing too then *shrugs* so be it. Tell me if you can any replies?

Why the Hell are you happy for me!? Because of the fact that I will no longer suffer from D'espa Withdrawl?
I'm happy you will suffer no longer.

I'm excited you can hear and appreciate them too. And of course that I'll have someone to gush with.

the thing is, they've been doing heavy stuff for 2 albums, and it's kind of pissing me off. i don't know what the reason is...
But they are making the kind of music they want to make... why be mad at them for doing what they want to do. I'm happy for them. :bluush:
