Oh man! Thanks for that link, Nana!
haha - I see what you mean about Kaoru's hair! :giggle: Pity there weren't some pics where you can see his face... I'm surprised he doesn't find all that hair a bit offputting. When I used to have long hair I kept breathing it in by mistake in the throes of guitar playing. :buuh:  :D

Oh my oh my - Kyo is still damn hot (not regarding the fact that he doesn't shave under his arms... )... and especially all bloodstained and delectable. (Or am I just tooooo strange now...? :worried: XD...)

Hehehe, I had a Darth Maul shower gel, but never a spoon, you lucky sod! :p

Nana007
Mar 20, 2006, 06:42
I noticed that too, that Kyo didn't shave his pits when he normally does. Maybe he is trying to be "Manly" for the American audience, and hopefully by tuesday he will take a weedwacker to that problem.

Well, he is a bloke, after all....... :giggle:

haha someone said the exact same thing about Kaoru looking "cousin itish" on the batsu forum. Make up or no makeup they are still hawt!

Mar 20, 2006, 06:59
I prefer no make up :-)

Nana007
Mar 20, 2006, 07:04
Oh yea they are still looking damn good. And when I say makeup but I don't mean full face vk make up and lipstick, but at least a tad bit of eyeliner, but that is just because I am a female who for the most part wears very little makeup only for special occasions, but I CAN'T IMAGINE LIFE WITHOUT EYELINER...I wear it on the daily. Even the ancient Egyptians, and Sumerians had Kohl.

@placebo, that was probally me, I did say he is cousin it. I mean come on Kaoru we want to see your face.

I have been wondering how did they get Shinya to look so manly. Even when they were out of their VK thing and started wearing pants and what not he was still wearing skirts. What got him to finally change?

Rancid__
Mar 20, 2006, 07:15
I like Toshiya with no make up at all. And Shinya finally looked at himself in the mirror when he was naked. He finally realised the thing between his legs isn't a female thing lol:blush:

Thanks for the Diru SXSW video clip, that just got me extra excited for the show. I'm in Florida now on vacation (I had to find somewhere to use the internet, I was dying from withdrawal) and I'll be flying to NY in the morning to get to the show. Those pics from the SXSW show do look a lot different. Kaoru does have a lot of hair, but I like guys with long hair so I think it's kinda cute. What's up with Die o_0, I totally didn't recognize him at first, but it's cool too, it's all whatev, Diru is so awesome, I'm going to be in musical bliss tomorrow.

See you guys there tomorrow!

Excuse me, *sorry all Dir en Grey fans* they have wonderful voices and all but its kinda gross how they throw up on stage and people find that the sexiest thing EVER. Thats so... disgusting... What you eat, keep it in there and thats very... bolimicish. DONT get me wrong, I like them though. ^^

Mar 21, 2006, 15:53

Mar 21, 2006, 15:57

Kaine
Mar 21, 2006, 16:19
yea i kinda imagined it was fake vomit... but nonetheless... i wouldnt want it on me =P god knows wats in it =P and.. i really wouldnt be surprised if i went on ebay and saw "KYO'S VOMIT!! BIDDING $500.00!!!!"

o.O OMG HIDE!!!!! ARE U SERIOUS?! thats soooo retarded?! OMG -_- u shoiuld tell them to refund ur money or something... but then again... im kinda relieved, i was afraid if u wore that beautiful kimono to the concert, some ravaging fans would pull and rip it =( but i duno... still bad =(

um... guys... the LA show... is it standup or seats? my friend said she emailed free will and they siad they were seats? ha... its a joke rite -_- seats at a dir en grey concert?

Mar 21, 2006, 17:24
It seems everybody also missed the pst I put up about how all kimono are purchaced at the length of the wearer and are folded up *under* the obi and are the tied in place with obijime and obiage... -_-;

Kinsao
Mar 21, 2006, 18:24
awww that's bad luck, I really hope you can go, and that everyone has a great time!
That sucks about your kimono... :kanashii:... although... maybe it's best if it doesn't get damaged anyway. :relief:
I'm not really into the eroticness of vomit - not real vomit. But I don't mind Kyo's vomiting because it's fake (I mean seriously, you couldn't vomit and sing... you'd totally wreck your throat :( )

*Satsuki*
Mar 22, 2006, 10:14
^__^ did you guys know it gonna be toshiya's B-day on 31?? A few people have been planning to sing for him at the concert. You guys gonna do it??
^^I think it's a good idea and wanna help spread the news!! I think doing it after maybe the first encore would be a good time to sing to him..*.* hope people are willing to do it!! I'm sure it make him reallly happies :D

Mar 22, 2006, 15:41
EDIT: also, just so you guys know...when a japanese magazine says "so-and-so X so-and-so" it just means it's a joint interview. you see this a lot when it's only two members from a band interview, or when it's musicians from seperate bands interviewing together, i.e. "Kyo X Kaoru" or "Miyavi X Izumi" or even "MUCC X Balzac" etc. or, in this case, "Kyo X ALICE". so don't worry, that's all it means.

Wah just got back, from the concert. So tired but heres a quick report. They opened up with Cleaver Sleazoid (after G.D.S) I was in the second row in between Die and Kyo. I started in the 4th row, then after the barricade fiasco (which was scary) I ended up In the second row. I got wet from both Toshiya's and Dies waterbottle.
Some Highlights. In Machievellism Kyo pulled out a razor and started cutting his chest. He did the blood thing, but I forget in which song. Also in Jesus Christ RnR he really encouraged us to sing. He also did his funky little wild dance. Toshiya and Die switched sides a couple of times and even gave each other a hug. Kaoru stayed on his side. Kyo, Toshiya and Shinya pretty much wore the same thing at the SxSW concert. Except for the encore.
Also in one song Kyo got really emotional and did a really good Solo. Which I should know the name of as it is a fav, but it has slipped my mind. They played Child Prey as an encore, and at the end he started rolling and convulsing on the ground. Also it was really funny, because he was trying to pick up his little stool (which was taped down ) but he coudn't and so threw the fan, threw a bucket of water of himself and onto the fans. And also

***************SPOILER***************
they played a new song More in detail report later.

Ahhh, I just made it back to Florida after yesterday's crazy live. I was with Nana007 for the first couple of songs, then somehow we got pushed apart, pushed backed together, pushed apart again, haha, I got crushed so much in that show. Oh, and my shirt strap got ripped off and I had a slight wardrobe malfunction (a la Janet Jackson), but it was all good.

All the fan crap aside, the show was AMAZING! It was so surreal seeing Diru live, but the energy that the band had and the performances they gave were stellar. For me, Die made the show. I started off on Die's side, then in the middle of the show I was more in front of Kyo (during his blood/vomit/self-mutilation bit) then I got pushed back over to Die's side towards the end. He didn't do anything that crazy, I don't think, but I couldn't keep my eyes off of Die and his guitar. I was almost in a trance towards the end of the show, just staring at him and the guitar and paying close attention to his every move with the instrument. I guess I was awe-struck. I've officially decided that I'm going to finally learn how to play guitar, I've been putting it off for a long time (5+ years), but now I'm going to actually do it. Die is amazing.

Alright, I don't have like a play by play of the show or anything, I'm sure you can find that elsewhere. Have fun at the LA show guys, I'm sure Diru will be back sometime soon, they enjoyed themselves waaaaaay too much not to.

He cut himself pretty superficially, not that deep. He cut his arm a bit and his chest. Then he started spitting up blood and an orangish colored phlegm-like substance. Um, yeah, the razor bit was the least of it. I'm not sure if he was cutting the insides of his mouth with his fingernails to produce blood or biting his finger tips, but it was something like that. He kept putting his fingers to his mouth and flinging spit all over the audience, then the blood/orange mess was everywhere. It was all over his face, he kept spitting it from his mouth and spitting it up onto his nose/eyes and onto his chest. TOTALLY GROSS TOTALLY AWESOME! (Haha, poison and norm should understand that last part)

It sounds like a spectacular show... and a new song! I can't wait to hear more music.

Nana007
Mar 23, 2006, 04:46
Yea, I kind of cringed when he did that and the blood thing. But when he did it he had like this crazy psychotic look in his eyes. And it wasn't deep, very shallow, But he did have the No Future in reverse carved in. But man is he a great performer, actually everyone was good. They made alot of eye contact, pumped up the crowd, and came to the front a couple of times. And I mean I had a good spot, I could see everything, except for Kaoru, he was to far to my right. My back and body feels like hell though.

Mar 23, 2006, 07:05
When they were setting up for Dir en grey and set up Die's guittar, that was all I could stare at. I too, have been wanting to play guitar, I have a funky old acoustic but I can only play very very very simple stuff, and I haven't touched it in like 6 months. But someone said that it is easier to play electric. And its also smaller so it would be easier for me, I have really really tiny hands so my reach isn't that good. But I figure one of these days I will take proper lessons.

boobiebutt
Mar 23, 2006, 13:16
oops totally posted that while reading the the second to the last page and forgot to continue reading onward T_T sorry haha and i cried when kyo cut himself........i mean that blood vomit part and all that is cool but......i kept thinking to myself.....y kyo y?!?! stop cutting urself!!! and i cried when he sang the solo......and the song was Higeki wa me futa wo oroshita asashiki
i cried when he did his solo at the end of the song too :'(

Kinsao
Mar 23, 2006, 18:00
Awww... a lot of crying going on... *hugs* bet it was so awesome though! ... apart from the Kyo cutting himself part =*(

Ah Nana... the fretboard is no smaller I'm afraid... *but* the good thing is the action is lower so it's easier to press the strings down, good if you have small hands ^^ but for reach, it is the same.
If you played the acoustic guitar before, the electric seems... not exactly easier but less hard work physically. ^^
I think I am on the verge of worshipping the red pointy guitar. :souka:

Right now I still can't believe it. I really can't and it really feels like it is a dream, when Kyo said Last Song I could feel my heart breaking. I hope they come back. If they come back I will definately go again.\

And about the guitar I have really really really small hands, plus really stubby fingers. And I should relearn to play. As of now I can play only simple chords. I stopped learning when my Uncle died 3 years ago. I lost my motivation to play, since he was teaching me. But maybe my new found obsession with Die's pointy, shiny, red, sexy guitar will help me. (I also have an obsession with Toshiya's Bass, but I like my fingers without calluses)

That's funny, I always pictured boobiebutt being a dorky fat white dude. Then again, I picture almost all Jrock fans being dorky and fat lol (no offense to any fans here, but I am in America after all!).

Hmm, I never wonder if people saw me or remember me from a show, because I already know how much I tend to stand out (especially with my sister). All I wondered about this show is if anyone could see up my skirt (I was in the balcony) lol. Not that I'd really care, but there were a lot of guys at the show (especially hot Asian ones), so it probably made their night even better haha.

Bah! Im sort of rested and Im ready to give my brief over view of the shimmy and shake of things. Im sure as many of you NY fans know my neck and vocal chords have yet to recover (not to even go into my ear drums :( ) :( so Ill keep this as brief as possible.

First things first.

Diru couldnt have had a better opening act. I am now an official Opiate for the Masses fan. I would go of on things like "the leader...the drummer..." but in reality they were all SO good. I was plannig on saving most of my strength for Diru themselves, but Opiate was so good they deserved to be rocked out to just as hard. I screamed my self just a little bit raw for them. Every body! Make sure you give Opiate a big hand for having the guts to open like that and pull it off. I wish them every bit o luck.

Now for the Kyo report. As in NY he encouraged major audience participation with singing along to the lyrics. Yes he did cut him self with the razor, which gave me a fantastic oportunity to see the "No Future" scar in person. There wasnt much in the way of fan service from the whole band but Kyo sure had fun playing with the fangirls feeling himself up and sticking his hand down his pants and *rubbing*. (dies) For the encore he remnded me a bit of a little kid when after they finished he turned a big bucket of water over him self and stood there for a momnet with it on his head before throwing it into the audiance. Kaxxi!!!! :cute:

The rest of the band really had fun, playing off the audiance. Toshiya was his usual smug self giving the fans that "you worship me and you know it" type of treatment, and like the good followers that we all are we were *very* inclined to agree.

Now for the personal stuff. Originally I was in line for the pit but decided to move to another line because they were letting people in. Looking across I saw that everybody I came with was in that line so I went across and got in it only to descover that the line I had been in was the pit line (I had no idea before). The security gaurd had seen me switch and refused to let me in as security often is. So baisically what insued was a huge fight between me and a security gaurd. I called him eveything in the book with out using a curse word and he just laughed at me which made me even more mad. My friends and I started offering people money for their place in the pit and people who DID want to sell there place to us were told by the security gaurd that I had fought with that the couldnt do it even though a wiltern employee that I asked said that they could. >.< So for the opening act I spent it in the second thingy right above the pit. Which, while it didnt give me the oportunity to rake my hands down the lead singer did give the band a perfect view of me so I could have my 15 sec so to speak of getting th eleads attention. Mean while the people in back of us were shoving so hard I was seriously afraid of bruising my pubic bone against the railing on the wall. My best friend kept getting knocked completely into the isle and was just in general having a bad time. Finally the woman who had been in charge of letting people into th epit came by and started talking with the security gaurd I had fought with and he turned around all of a sudden and said "Why dont you take these three here then". O.O And so she grabed our wrists, led us to the back and GAVE US WRIST BRACELETS TO GET INTO THE PIT. She said that she had seen us screaming and cryinga and fighting earlyer to get in but she couldnt really do anything then because people would start fighting and not to tell anybody because she couldnt do anything. On our way into the pit I gave security the bigest kiss on the cheek ever and the guy cried out "oh lordy!" Once the pit started to move I even ended up right in the front practically and had an interwsting Toshiya experiance.

The medical : right after the opening act a girl was pulled from the crowd and taken away with an oxy tank. Poor thing. After that people in the pit kept passing out or having to betaken out. I saw three girls on my side be removed so they could breathe and my friends who were in the middle said that two girls over there were rolled out in wheel chairs. I think every body by that point was DESPERTE for water and the heat was almost too intense. Combine this with being stomped on and hit over and over again at full speed by other peoples heads and elbows you have ne miserble mosh experiance. I wish I had worn steel toed boots. I myself was in pretty sorry condition too and I think I didnt enjoy it as much as I could have. If it werent for all the bodies packed in around me so tightly for support I would have fainted and I came dangerously close to falling completely down once or twice when the people in back of me shifted and I had no one to press my back against. But as we all know, if its for Diru its well worth it.

As for cameras...we did several of the old fashioned fan circles that they hadnt done scince waaaay back in the when and Im sorry to say that I dont think the cameras got that at all. It would have been awesome to have that on the dvd. I really look foreword to it comming out, expecially scince I got to have a camera pointed on me right afterwords so I could end up shouting "yeah Mother F8967erws! You better get your sweet asses back to La soon!!!!!!!" :P

So to sum it all up : I am bleeding, sore, came this close to fainting for the first time and screamed myself horse because I almost camethis close to being spit on by another human being. I enjoyed myself immensly.

 I am so glad you had fun, Hide. *huggles* I can't wait to hear from Jessica. I am so happy for all my friends who made it to that show, I may of not made it, but I can always hear stories, and hope to go next time. <3

Oh, did anyone see Riyko? :( It's just that I wanted her to go even if that meant going without me, and I am kinda worried about her, cause she hasn't been online since Wednesday. So if one of you saw her, I hope she knows, I wanted her there, I just wish she'd of told me what happened is all. :relief:

Thanks for the account! :p I love reading everyone's different take on it... ohh, I really wish I could have been there *dammit I keep saying that!* >< :sorry: But reading people's accounts is the next best thing, I have a big smile plastered over my face all the time I am reading and picturing myself there! (yes even during the almost-fainting-almost-getting-squashed bits! ^^) Anyway, I'm sure they will come back to Europe another year and I can see them (by that time it might be with my walking stick and personal carer, so I shall damn well hope to get preferential treatment! :D ) so I can just enjoy everyone else's happiness... :-)

-_- ee yea still tired from yesterday so here's my two cents on the concert..
oh btw I was ^^ the girl dress in black pant/skirt with black sport jacket with braids hehe *_* I didn't see anyone tho What time did u guys get there?? On to the concert I got there around 2:00 because we thought they wouldnt be line but no x_x there was lonnngg one and people counted saying we were 215 but then bunch of cutters cut in line and I didnt make it to the pit ^-^ but it was ok I was good with the floor even if I was getting jabbed in my ribs..They gave water thankfully!! and opening band I thought was too loud I dunno but the drummer was tuned up real loud and was >< my ears!! and music I did not care for so yea..then Dir en grey came out!! the members looked tired but Shinya looked great!!!!they came out at same time and I dunno remember the first song think it was Saku hehe it was hard to tell sometimes what they sang cause it was hard to hear sometimes..and I did buy a glowstick from some girl snuck it in only to get it taken away 10 sec later LOL and yes there was much technical difficulties with equipment and stuff but they made best of it! oh and people say Die got tatoo I did not see one hmm??and I saw few people with cameras/phones and nobody cared so maybe we see clip of it soon..I think the setlist was pretty much the same from NY live but Childprey was the best!!!!! and all the members were in to it energized by the crowd! looked like they wanted to play more but thier time was over so they left threw their picks and shinya his drumsticks really far too *.* he was so angelic!toshiya looked happy and great too he got lots of luv from us which he noticed! in the end kyo was last off dumping bucket of ice water over his head and saying bye bye and leaving great!!! ^__^ in all a great live!!! very lively and music was the best ever I would love to see Dir en grey agaiin!! I hope this will encourage bands to visit America more often.
srry for long post ^^ and forgot lots stuff ..I know still excited/tired from it all..

They seemed pleased, I wouldn't be suprised if they came back, I am also pushing back my decision on Koln on some hopeful retouring news. I will not be suprised if they DO come back. I could probably afford that more too. I hope they play in Texas again, because I could definately afford that. DIRU , YES YOU! *points to them* PLAY IN MIDLAND! o.o

The dvds will come out soon enough. It was really cool to see the filming process for the concert so up close.

Girl with braids? Damn there were a lot of people with braids. Did you see the Gazette cosplayers? Rawrs. But OMG! there was this one black girl....-_- she was wearing a see through skirt with NOTHING UNDERNEATH. Damn, like, Id BUY you underwear if youd put em on. Plus I heard that she was being really weird too once the concert started like making conductor motions and everything. My friends who were next to her said that she was f'ing annoying as hell.

But hot dog! The boys there were smoking!

concert: great big PUSH and SHOVE when the door finally opened -_- i lost hide and joylucky way before so =*(... all i remember was seeing hide's jacket in the crowd WAY in front of me... but hand in hand or linking arms, drain and her friends and i just RAN OUR WAY IN!!! the stupid guy was like...line up here at the right side... and then the guy inside was like.. u have to be in the other line to get into the pit... it was SO RETARDED -_- but nevertheless we all got into the pit =D yea i totally have to agree with hide... opium for the masses was actually a lot better than i expected... and they were pretty good =D cept i cuold barely hear wat they were singing =P the vocalist was pretty hot tho =P haha but the stupid bass -_- goodness... it aws getting reall annoying caz he kept spittin into the air and trying to catch it again in his mouth -_- yes... odd boy he is =P but it did get me pumping!!!
i was in the front for opium -_- but then my friend came, and i had to give her her ticket -_- therefore... losing my spot with drain in the pit.. i ventured out and got TOTALLY rammed so i just ended up standing a little behind with my friend -_- it kinda sucked... caz i coulda be freakishly close... but i guess i dont realy mind.. as long as i got to see dir en grey from a pretty close enough view =)
they opened up with clever sleazoid... but i couldnt really tell caz i think... in the begining, die was having some trouble with his guitar.. the ppl kept running out and trying to do something =P but he was TOTALLY SEXY =D god he's sooo hot with his hair!!! and i gotta say... i think kyo and shinya looked THE BEST!!! shinya looked SOOO HOT! his hair was really nice! and AHHH KYO just looked like himself =D and WOO totally made the fans go insane when he started taking off his shirt... i think that was when i lost my voice screaming... and EVEN MORE... KYO STARTED TOUCHING HIMSELF!! WOOO HAHAHA that was hot as hell =D man... i wanted to just jump up there and be like.. LET ME !!! =D toshiya... was just... i dunno... i didnt really notice him... and kaoru was a lil spot light hogger =P hahaha but it was adorable!
omg... i swaer... i started tearing up when kyo did his solo... and when he would sing in his.. crying, "this is truly painfully from the heart" voice... god he really has sooo much emotion when he sings it makes my heart ache... it was BEAUTIFUL!!! but... i tried singing along with all his songs.. at least, the ones i knew how... uh... omg -_- the encore... GOODNESS!!! i swear, i bet dir en grey were giggling in the back... wat teasers -_- it took them SOOOO LONG +( and we just kept screaming and screaming and my voice was gone by then -_- but i tried -_- and so FINALLY THEY CAME OUT =P but overall... im soo glad i saved my first concert experience for them =D it was TOTALLY WORTH IT +D and im sooo grateful i got to meet all u guys =D LOVE LOTS!!!! Haha, for real though Diru needs to come back, I miss them already :bawling: the concert was the best. Next time they come we have to have a huge Jref meetup and get together or something, haha. And they will definatly come back either by their own free will or force haha, Ready JRefers time to launch operation Sexy Scorpion Eater, and if that fails we launch into our back up plan of Red Guitar Thiefs. Everyone make sure you have Duck Tape, Handcuffs, Chlorafoam, Chocolate Syrup, Whip Cream, Rasberry Jam (To celebrate our succesful Dirunapping of course  )

If news of a retour doesn't happen soon, I have this elaborate letter...I ask, that you tell me if this seems like an ok letter. I mean, does it seem mature, and that I really want this:

Dear Mom,

There is something in this world I will do what ever chore to pay off. There is something in this world that I will do whatever it takes to prove I am worthy.

My friend wants me to tag along for a Dir en Grey concert in Koln/Cologne, Germany. Now, before you close this window with an automatic no, please read the rest and consider.
This is NOT like anyother concert, the security is upped, not because it can get bad, because they are organized. Dir en Grey is not very widely known in Germany, so I will be greatly suprised if more then 4,000 people show up.Besides, my friend, and her mother will be there too, I can take the cell, and you can call at any time.

Now, on to the ways of payment:
I have 405 thus far, meaning I can already pay for the concert ticket.
If my social security check comes, that is yours to pay for some of my plane.
You will have to help pay for the rest.
Plane + Hotel is around the 1,300 area.
NOW HOLD UP!
200 or so will be left after buying the concert ticket, so around 800 or so dollars of this trip will be payed purely by me.
Also, what you payed can be taken out of the next social security check that comes to this house..heck, you can have the whole thing if you want it.
Yes, this means that much to me..
I am willing to work very very hard on proving myself to be mature, I will work around the house for this, I will start taking my medicine tonight for this, I start working full go on my GED again tomorrow.I can have you call this friend so you can get all the details on how this is going to work. It's only a 3 day trip! Jessica stayed in LOS ANGELES ALONE, and got by fine, and Los Angeles is a very known town, Koln is small & not-so-well-known, and I will have people watching over me.Please consider this, I ask you with all my heart and soul to consider this...Don't let this be an automatic no..this can work, and I have really thought over this, this can be a chance to prove to you that I AM ready to be a civilized adult, and I will work my heardest to be that cilivized adult even before the show. Also, yes, I know getting an ID and a passport is required here, that's why I asked months before hand.

Oh, and I also have a friend teaching me every important thing I might need to say in German. This trip happens on May 26th, 2006 And I come back on the 29th, see not that much of an expencive trip, I was suprised about the price myself. ^_^ Now, you have a bit of time to deside, because they might retour in America, and I know you'd feel more confortable with me being in the states. I will inform you of any changes at hand..I just ask that you make up your mind in time for me to get my ID and passport, and also, so that the trip doesn't cost more, because the price goes up if it gets too close.

- Love,
Megan

I am thinking that a retour is a big possibility. Also I am not sure how true this is, but supposedly they are touring Japan in July-August. With them doing the It Withers and Wither tour 06 with the last date being fanclub only on July 31. And them starting the Inward Scream tour on August 1. That in my mind leaves all fall and winter for them to get their (literally) small a$$es over here in the U.S. Also the name change of the tour, is making me think new album. How about anyone else?

Well they played a new song at they NY concert, not to sure about L.A. I didn't even realize it was a new song till someone told me. But I really don't remember it cause I was spending the whole song trying to figure what it was haha. But other people who I have read reports from say its Clever Sleazoid light, or Clever Sleazoid Jessica style. Or WTD but a little more pop. So yea, it is simular to what they are doing now. But, what I can remember myself, is that it had a really nice and prominen baseline which has been rare lately, and that the chorus was in english. @LA peeps did they play the new song, and if so what did you thing. I have to hear it again, not live to make my opinion on it personally.

Edit: About retouring, I talked to one of the Japanese staff members, and while they didn't give anykind of definant answer, they did say that the guys were really happy, and enjoyed the U.S and to keep an eye open cause some stuff is in the works. And also that they were leaving for L.A @ 5 a.m.

Good luck Champloo. If not Germany, then waiting for a retour it is. You better go too. Where to begin. My trip started off pretty lame. Couldn't get the hotel I wanted cuz my credit card wasn't working..but after about 2 hours of walking around, I found a place that'll take cash deposit. Walked around LA as a loner for awhile the first day and then just went back to my hotel room and passed out. Woke up around 5ish and checked out of my hotel @ 10. Walked down to the venue and met up with some kids from the Batsu forums. Got at the venue around 10:30ish. Chilled and hung out and made friends. Finally Hide found me. She's such a sweetheart and a great person to be around. ^__^ Then Kaine came. Finally. Sorry we couldn't do lunch. T__T. Jenn is also a sweetheart. Last but not least, Miss Drain.. Very energetic and sweet as well. All of you guys looked great and I'm sorry I didn't hang out with you more but I didn't want to just ditch the people I met up with before because they were gonna give me a ride to the airport and all. Now on to the concert.. wow. That's all I can really say. I'm still a bit in shock and it hasn't even hit me yet that they're real people. I really wanted to be in the pit, but didn't even try when I got in the wrong line and saw the line for the pit. I did get a good view of the band though and was pretty happy about it. My body is still in pain from all the standing and headbanging I did. All in all it was a great night. Probably the most fun I've had in a long time. In a way it kind of felt like going to my first rave.. Meeting new friends, hanging out and rocking out all night. ^__^ Already plan on saving up for a possible retour. ^__^ AND GOSH DARN TOOTEN DAMNIT MISS CHAMPLOO BETTER BE THERE WITH ME! note: *lets her little secret inner fangirl out* I really wish I would've yelled out Kaoru Aishiteru. LOL. *shoves the fangirl back in and acts all cool* 8)

I just want to ask, if anybody knows how to do this. If Dir en grey tours Japan, I really want to go to one of their concerts, how do you go about getting the tickets. I only of the Special offer lottery, but how exactly does that work. And how much of a chance would I have for getting tickets. Or is their another way. Its like after I saw them once, they have instilled this fever in my blood and the only cure is to see them live again. It would probaly be cheaper to see them In Germany, but I have already used alot of my Vacation time already, and I think that May is to soon to be taking another Vacation, (all though I only took 3 days off, and I think I have like 42 hrs left. But by July/Aug I should have more hours than that available. )

HAHAHAHAHA! That girl's livejournal account of meeting Diru made me laugh so hard. I don't think I've laughed this hard in ages, haha. I don't know why that was so funny to me, but when I read the part about Shinya just straight up telling her "NO" when she asked for an autograph, hahahahaahaha, that's hilarious. Aw man, I hope I'm famous one day, just so that I can be an a$$hole and be like "NO" and walk away when people ask for my autograph, that'd be great. I know he probably wasn't being mean, there's probably a rule where they're not supposed to sign things (and Kyo was just like F the rules) or maybe he didn't understand what she was asking or maybe he was a little freaked out by her, but I like the idea of him saying "NO" because he just didn't want to be bothered by her. Hahahaha, man, I don't know why that's so funny to me, I guess it's my inner a-hole coming out. Haha, loser...

I went to the L.A show personally I think it should have had an age limit.

When I went there most of the people were waaaaaaaaaay under the age of 17 and they brought their mommy and daddy which made it hard for real fans to go up front because the pit was kids and parents.

My saga:
I took a taxi to the show and hopped out. I then realized I left my ticket in the cab.

I was like oh crap! so I ran around every establishment trying to get a computer to reprint.

Finally I went up front the ticket counter and they luckily they said they had more so I bought one.

Wehn I looked at the line there was a crap load of kids with their mommies and daddies so it went on as far as the eye could see.

I hopped in front and some kids dad was like "Excuse me I have been here for two days so may little girl can see the show"

I moved a little back and 12 year old girl with pink hair was like "I know you were not here move or else I will call security"

I moved some more and nobody said anything. I did get as close as possible but not in the pit. I was behind the big security guards.

I have a question the NY show pics are up on the DEG site when will the LA show pics be up?

I am sad that the makeup is forever gone Die looked so hot with eyeliner. I seriously could not hear anything at the show except for the final my ears were shot but I did not care it was fun being in the same place as them.

I personally was not into Opiate for the Masses "Right Left Right Left" seriously wtf?

After the show which ended at around 11ish (?) I hung out at LAX. LAX is the only god damn airport I have seen where all the shops and food places close early. Arent Airports suppose to be 24/7 ?

drain_away
Mar 27, 2006, 05:53
Most of the kids did not bring their parents in the show but at the end of the show there was like a sea of parents outside and driving around looking for there children. How retarded!

uh...i wouldn't necessarily say reterded. i'm 18 and i had my mom bring me because she drove my friends and i. she didn't go into the show and she didn't stand in line with us, but she did go with us. i don't really see why it's "retarded". whatever i have to do to get myself to the concert is fine by me. who cares if other people are like "ew that girl brought her mommy, how lame"? at least i'm at the concert, right? :-)

also, airports aren't 24/7. it kinda sucks, but yeah. the last flight always leaves around 9-10ish, and even by then everything has closed up. don't know why, but i guess it'd be too much effort with all the different little shops to have it open 24/7. who knows? :clueless:

also guys, i don't think an age limit would have gotten rid of everyone's parents, and that wouldn't have been why an age limit would have been put into place. it doesn't matter if people stand in line with their parents! at least their there, right? who cares?

er...sorry, i just realized i double posted. :relief: sorry, heh heh...

Kinsao
Mar 27, 2006, 06:14
Was there not an age limit, then? I would have thought it would be 16+..... :? Usually this kind of thing is for a safety reason...

Placebo
Mar 27, 2006, 06:14
The parents are usually not into the music. So they took up space for the real fans who could have gotten into the pit or as close as possible.

And they should keep airport shops open atleast some because sometimes people have issues with flights and no where to go. I was able to find a Mcdonalds open after a 17 minute walk around LAX.

drain_away

remi-of-ryem: i agree, that would be the only reason to have an age limit. also there of course is the maturity issue, i.e. sometimes younger people cannot follow the rules as well as older people, etc.

placebo: that is a valid point, and i never disagreed with it. i'm only saying that i don't think it's a big deal for people to stand in line with there parents, or for their parents to be the ones who brought them. so what if they stand in line with them? i'm not embarrassed to be seen with my mom. i mean come on. she's the reason i'm even alive in the first place. :D

the L.A concert was for all ages -.- which I agree also did suck because i had annoying 13-15 year olds around me either making out with their bf/gf, blabbing on about how Dir en grey should play cage or talking about how hot the members were and never heard any of their music *_*

Love the band, hate almost 90% of the fanbase. v.v;
I don't understand how someone can be like that..Diru's music means so much to alot of people, and those people don't even listen to it and love them just because they are good looking. :okashii: They work so hard for you to respect them for their music, sure they look good, but their music is almost 100 times better. Their music tells you things, touches you and makes a difference, and it can even uplift you when you are down.

Kyo: The guy is indeed drop dead sexy, but just read his lyrics, those stories, the way he uses words, watch the pv's, watch the imagery he comes up with..the pv's are just so artistic and are made of conundrum, he makes you work to understand...Kyo is a great performer, with an amazing, versitile voice. That man has a presence to him that you can't help but to want more of.
Kaoru: The man writes awesome riffs, he is a great guitar player, a great leader, stern when he needs to be, and always there for the other members. I wouldn't want any one else in that spot..I wouldn't know what to do if he didn't write such unique backrounds to go with Kyo's singing.

Die: The silly one, the other one that makes the songs so enjoyable, he is great in pvs, and even better in live performances...He gives you everything he has, and I really respect Die for that.

Toshiya: he has a heart of gold, he might of done things in the past, but there is so much more that says he is GOLD. He is a great bass player, he gives the music a soul, and Dir en Grey just would not BE Dir en Grey without Toshiya. :-)

Shinya: He might be distant, silent, but he gives the music a heart, their is not music without a beat, and he gives it one HELL of a beat, I fell that their is more to this man then we know, and he will lets you see,and hear that soon enough. He's changed so much through out Diru's time with us, and I am so proud of what he has done.

I am really surprised that there was not an age limit at all on the concert, because it was expected that there would be a lot of people and pushing and shoving to get good places etc. etc... just out of a safety consideration, it's not a good situation to be in if you're a little'un. :souka:

Not that I grudge the younger fans the chance to see Dir en grey, but come on! The guys aren't about to stop making music just yet! They will get a chance in a few years to see them! It might seem like the end of the world to miss a concert when you're 12 or 13, but it isn't.

And yeah, Riyko is right - every band has some shallow fans, I guess; annoying but.... *sigh* has to be put up with.

I always thought that a Dir en Grey concert would be 16+ or 18+ just because of the content. :clueless: I mean, the things I hear Kyo does on stage...well, not appropriate for an 8-year-old. :relief:

Oh, and not all 13-15 year olds are squealing idiot fangirls. :okashii: Some of them are, but not everyone is. Anyway, those people who do behave like that are just showing their immaturity. I've even seen people in their twenties act like that. Unfortunately, there are always people who ruin things by only liking a band for their looks.

I'm glad to see most people enjoyed their concert experiences! :-)

I write so many songs inspired by their music that go practicly unseen..I wrote one today while listening to Yoshiki music ironicly. :giggle: No seriously. XDD Anyways, I thought it was quite cool, so I will show it. ^_^ No comments are needed.

Enchanted Melody

The cries that a soul screams flow with the wind between my fingers..screams of eternal love that go unanswered and unheard..
Bloody potion running through tangled veins fall down pale skin to show pain...to paint a picture, but there is no canvas to be painted upon.
The swan drifts in the crystalline lake, dancing to a silent orcestra..dancing a tainted ballet..that is without audience..

Look into the mirror..see a vanishing reflection
A fragment of that which can not remain
A tear which could not be contained
Though the haunting still remains

The orange coloured leaf becomes bound in the staggering wind and is ripped to shreds as though it were nothing.
A solo violin plays in the halls of the phantom agony
The piano plays oh so slow and hypnotizing
Enchanted melody..

Look into the mirror..see a vanishing reflection
A fragment of that which can not remain
A tear which could not be contained
Though the haunting still remains..
The haunting melody still remains

An opera of conundrum
A dance of insecurity
Tis the dance of life and all it impurities
Tis the song of how many great things are done in vain
The truth..
Will you be slain by it?

A tear which could not be contained
Though the haunting still remains..
The piano plays oh so slow and hypnotizing
Enchanted melody

A tear which could not be contained
Though the haunting still remains..
Enchanted melody

This is definately going to sound like I'm flaming you but I really don't care. If you don't think it's wrong for an 8yr old girl to see a grown man rubbing his crotch than you've got some serious issues. Your description of the above was a bit too extreme and someone so young shouldn't see that either. But Kyo was also cutting his chest with a razor and that's not very kid friendly either. I guess everyone has their own views on what's right and what's wrong, but I'm pretty sure that 95% of the people here will agree with me that anyone under the age of 12 should not have been at the concert..and 12 is pushing it.

SaKeVi... You're joking right? It is NOT okay for 8 year olds to attend a concert in which they can be severely hurt due to their size and the roughness of the crowd. DEG's music and lyrics deal with subjects and issues that are not appropriate for 8 year olds to hear. Let alone, the few songs with english lyrics say things like "One day I will f your parents" and "d*ck men f-off and wipe". Kyo's on-stage self-mutilation is NOT appropriate for 8 year olds, and rubbing his crotch (which you seem to think is minisucle) is DEFINITELY NOT appropriate for 8 year olds. If you feel your 8 year old is mature enough to handle Diru's music, that's one thing and a decision that needs to be made by a parent, but attending a Dir en grey concert at 8 is absurd and just plain wrong.

True Normphobe, very true, but there's really no new news about Diru, so you should know to just ignore this thread (and the D'espa thread) for the most part until further notice if you don't want to see pages worth of fangirling, pointless conversations, and the inevitable arguments. I've gone back to just checking official sites and freewill, Jhouse, and SC24 for new crap about bands. These forums are basically good for pictures and pointless conversations nowadays (especially with the no video/mp3 rules being re-put in place). Not that I don't like having pointless convos and such (as I'm currently exemplifying) , but this forum seemed so much better when I first joined, but what can you do *sighs*

I have a quick Diru question. Are the last "official" photos released by Diru the ones with their look from Clever Sleazoid or have they been in any press/magazines since then?

:o I've never seen a more pointless discussion about a good point in my whole jref foruming experience... HAHA. A few of you made good points... I'll give you that.

Honestly... my two cents (as if it even matters). There is something to be said about experimentation with music. I find it very irritating people jump on others for not know a band. Now some people may have gone to the concert not knowing Dir en grey's music and left with a whole new outlook and perhaps as a fan. Other may not. The point is they gave it a try. Going to shows for bands you don't know isn't always a bad thing. It's kind of elitist to say "I'm a fan and you don't even know them. What are you doing here?" How many of you go to see local bands play? I know living in a highly musically influenced city like New Orleans it's hard to stay away from the local music scene. I've gone to see bands I've never heard of before. I've gone to Jazz/Blues clubs and listened to people play at Cyprus (one of our most popular venue for local bands). It's no different really. I experienced new music. Sometimes I hate them... sometimes I love them. I've bought some bands merchandise and meet them and made some nice friends. Dir en grey is breaking out here. I try not to be bitter about not going. I admit I am upset but it's not the end of my world. I try to be happy for the people who did go and for the right reasons and that Diru had a warm welcome here.

Think about our current society. From a very young age kids are bombarded with sex and violence... our media is drowning in such themes. I don't justify it but I'm sure it wasn't this 8 year old's taste.

Another thing. Not every 13-15 year old is rabid. Maturity is displayed through actions and learned by example. There were probly adults who caused more trouble than some of the 13 years olds. Who says someone younger than you can't be a true fan? I find the whole attitude of the recent discussion to have just a tinge of elitistism and tainted with a little dash of jealousy. Oh yea... I said it. LOL.

Wow... that was really well said!!! :bravo: I'm so glad you said that... cos I couldn't have. You put my thoughts into words!

I didn't even know about Dir en grey's existence until like, THIS February. Long story short, someone introduced me to Miyavi and somehow along the jrock lines a classmate introduced me to Deg and told me about this concert. I was interested, so me, my sister, and my friend decided to check them out and go see their concert, since it was close by and all.

But I felt really put off by all the negative energy I seemed to be getting from long-time die-hard fans, yeah, totally the "you're not even a fan, why are you going to the concert?" thing. Made it sound like I and my sis and friend weren't worthy, like we were 'stealing' tickets from those who 'deserved' to go. :worried:

Aha... it was my first concert and I was really excited... and I actually DID do some research about them and their music between ticket and concert time. And I did walk away a fan. I feel so lucky to have found them considering I had never heard of jrock before this year in my life.

I'm not trying to jump on the bandwagon, dammit. Just cos I haven't liked them since forever doesn't mean I can't start now, right?

I'm sorry for those who couldn't go... but considering the overwhelmingly positive response from the crowd there (and me :-) ) I'm sure Dir en grey'll be back in no time.

Can anyone tell this is my first post? I'm a newbie... so please don't be mean... (I found J-forum through miyavi thread, ha)

Wow - I sure have a lot of posts to catch up on. :souka: *reads*...

Champloo: I like your lyrics! I wish I could put some guitar line to it, but really it needs piano, I think. I can write guitar lines for songs, but then when I try to make lyrics for it, they come out crap and cheesy. >_< Or, I can make lyrics, but then I have no inspiration for the music itself.

Tetsuya Master: That sucks about your cousin! Although I agree that it's good to try out new bands, I thought (maybe I'm remembering your post from another thread) that he didn't like Dir en grey all that much even following the concert, which is a shame. T_T

SaKeVi: I want to go to a G.I.S.M. concert! :souka: That's some crazy ****... (although... probably not very good for the health, right?!)

Champloo: Please put on a banana suit and sing the peanut butter and jelly song! I want to see it! :yeahh: :D

Dir en grey official photos: the Clever Sleazoid photos are the last official photos I have seen. I don't make a big effort to keep up to date, but I visit Batsu forum regularly and normally, new photos are posted there really quickly, and I haven't seen any.

Ijiwaru: The Arctic Monkeys are a band that are big in the UK!! ^^

Psychocynic: Welcome, and I'm so glad you become to love Dir en grey! :-)

Right. About this whole censorship argument thing. My opinion is that a Dir en grey concert isn't suitable for an 8-year-old, not because of the lyrics or anything particular that might be going on (that's another subject for debate) but simply out of safety; there are big, excited crowds and an 8-year-old is a small person. They run the risk of getting more seriously hurt than you or I in the same situation. It's a question of being able to withstand OK the physical conditions of the concert.

As for the 'moral' aspect, actually I'm undecided on that, most particularly, as the lyrics aren't easily understandable, IMO. I think an 8-year-old isn't going to hear that Kyo is singing "one day I will f**k your parents", and suchlike; hell, it takes me a while to figure out what he is singing! O.o Also, such as the blood, chest scratching etc., it would be more of a concern to me that a child might be frightened by that, rather than imitating of it. Kids have a lot more sense than we give them credit for. Also similarly with the crotch rubbing; sometimes, things don't have the same significance with children as with us; children experience things differently. (I can remember things from childhood that I see totally differently now, and I'm sure you all can, too.)

To subject a child to something that is dangerous to them physically and/or frightening or emotionally disturbing to them is a form of abuse. To me, I see that Dir en grey or similar concerts are totally physically unsuitable for a child the age of 8 (also a child's ears are more sensitive to volume). Whether they are emotionally disturbing largely depends on the child. For example, I would say that definitely the PVs I would not let my child see, but the concerts are not so extreme as the PVs.

I don't agree with the 'anti-censorship' that would not put an age limit on anything, because I believe that children need to be protected.

On the other hand, it is also nice to see some discussion/debate on the board, because otherwise, it's true that we all tend to agree with each other all of the time. Which is nice, for the feel-good factor, but if people don't disagree with you from time to time, you forget how to think. At least, that goes for me.

Awww thank you Champloo - I'm touched and highly entertained. I really enjoyed that rendition. :D

The Hollywood Reporter posted a good review of the Dir en grey concert at New York! It made me shiver a little from happiness to read it. It was posted on my friend's blog, so I don't have the link to the direct article, so I have to quote it here:

"March 23, 2006

Dir En Grey
By Mick Stingley
Bottom line: Anime characters spring to life, with guitars.

In a club packed with screaming kids swinging Glo Sticks, Japan's Dir En Grey walked confidently onstage for its sold-out show Tuesday at the Avalon in New York. In only its second performance in the U.S. (following an appearance last week at South by Southwest in Austin), the flashy quintet sprung into action, leaping, turning and thrashing themselves about for an electrifying hour and a half of abrasive rock 'n' roll.

Looking like an '80s metal band re-imagined by Hot Topic, the group is a colorful pastiche of musical styles: shock rock, Sunset Strip glam, goth and death metal. Adding to the mystery, the band sings (and screams and croons) almost entirely in Japanese. Regardless, songs such as "Jesus Christ R'n'R," "Machiavellism" and "Clever Sleazoid" sent the young crowd into a frenzy.

Although Dir En Grey's first U.S. release "Withering to Death" (Warcon) will not surface until May 16, the Avalon show sold out quickly. Ticket demand for the band's Los Angeles performance tonight was so overwhelming that the show was moved from the Avalon to the Wiltern LG, which has since sold out as well.

It's astonishing that a band with virtually no presence -- no record, no radio airplay and no touring history in this country -- is selling out midsize venues. It appears the underground popularity of Dir En Grey is a testament to the power and reach of the Internet: With music and videos available for downloading, word-of-mouth on the band has spread rapidly.

Although it concentrated largely on new material, Dir En Grey closed its set with a riff-laden encore of older songs, notably "Child Prey" and "Mr. Newsman." The crowd reacted strongly, as if soaking up time-worn radio classics.

The source of Dir En Grey's appeal appears to be that its primarily young audience is clamoring for colorful, exciting bands in an era when so many mainstream bands look and sound the same. The kids want something different, and for right now Dir En Grey belongs to them. Whether the band can sell millions of records remains to be seen, but at the moment they are a visually stimulating, highly entertaining live act.

You are right, that actually is an insult! :D

"the group is a colorful pastiche of musical styles: shock rock, Sunset Strip glam, goth and death metal."
I don't see that as so much of an insult, but at least a highlighting of their variety, which is a strong point of Dir en grey that they can't be tied down to a specific genre. "Colorful" implies to me that it's interesting - therefore might grab the interest of a reader who hasn't yet heard or seen Dir en grey - and "pastiche" implies that it takes influences from all over the place - again, the way I see it, variety in music is a good thing!
pastiche
n 1: a musical composition consisting of a series of songs or other musical pieces from various sources [syn: medley, potpourri]
I found positive in the review --

"Dir En Grey right! >_<] walked confidently onstage for its sold-out show Tuesday at the Avalon in New York."

"an electrifying hour and a half of abrasive rock 'n' roll."

"the Avalon show sold out quickly. Ticket demand for the band's Los Angeles performance tonight was so overwhelming that the show was moved from the Avalon to the Wiltern LG, which has since sold out as well."

"It's astonishing that a band with virtually no presence -- no record, no radio airplay and no touring history in this country -- is selling out midsize venues."

"The crowd reacted strongly, as if soaking up time-worn radio classics."

"[Dir en grey's] primarily young audience is clamoring for colorful, exciting bands in an era when so many mainstream bands look and sound the same."

"they are a visually stimulating, highly entertaining live act."

DIRU RULES! FALL OUT BOY SUCKS!

What?! Almost every American band these days is like Fall Out Boy, I bet you anything that report wouldn't be so:

OMFG JAPANESE PEOPLE IN LIME LIGHT!

If they were like Fall Out Boy..

Oh god, if they were like Fall Out Boy, i'd loose all faith I had in music, period.

DX

PS. Apologies go out to any person who might be a fan of Fall Out Boy..it's just a personal preferrance.

Looking like an '80s metal band re-imagined by Hot Topic,

WTF?!?!?!??!!? T_T

and i heard kyo has his own clothing line called SEX and iv been searching for a site or something that sells his clothes....anyone have any idea?

I don't actually see the Hot Topic comment as something negative. I went in there earlier this month to see if they had a magazine I was looking for and almost all of the clothing is reminiscent of Japan's style! Ten years ago Hot Topic was actually a pretty decent store. They carried a lot of Lip Service and other "high class" brands. Once they started making their own cheap line of clothing things started to go downhill. I was surprised at some of the clothes they are carrying now. A lot of it was kind of cool, but the quality is terrible!

Hot Topic is the perfect place for a band like Dir en grey. 90% of Jrock fans look like they've just stepped out of the store anyway, and listen to most of the bands they sell merchandise for! It could really help get the band acknowledgement. I really hate it when I see people say they don't want Jrock being sold at a store like that, or don't want to see a band get big. That has to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

No offense, but a lot of Jrock fans are stupid, and out of all the cliques I have encountered they are definitely the rudest. It saddens me to hear all of the negative concert experiences. I had more than my share of them in NYC. You would think in an underground movement such as this people would be more helpful, but instead it's like a contest of how long you've been listening to a certain band.

Hot Topic clothes smell good... haha... that's so random but they do... I love the smell of Hot Topic... honestly though Norm is right. Their quality has really crapped out. I only by armwarmers and body jewelry from there anymore... and now I've started making my own armwarmers... *coughendofpointlessramblings*

I don't get that either. On the one hand I want Diru and other bands all to myself because almost the entire fanbase is stupid (HAHA) but on the other hand I really respect and admire them and know that the only way I'll have better chances to see my favorite bands is through the building of fanbases and followings... no matter how stupid they are. Their success far outweighs my selfishness... but when it comes down to it stupid fans are just pawns in my awesome plan to bring all my favorite bands to me... wahaha... jk jk jk :D

You are absolutely right! Hot Topic smells like Nag Champa! So random, and so pointless!

I'd like to keep the bands to myself too, but if I want them to come to the US then there has to be a fanbase! Or...they have to by chance play a show in the states to see how the turnout is, and then after meeting "the sisters" they will start coming back rather frequently hahaha. Based on previous statistics I'd say Diru will be back here by August... (^_~)

Wow I have been gone for so long, and has missed so much :relief: .

I myself brought someone with me who knew nothing of Deg to the concert. He knew of them of course, being a J-Music fan, but he prefers more pop/rock bands like L'arc~en~ciel, Asian Kung Fu Generation, High and Mighty Color, TMRevolution and the such and such. He doens't even like hard music. But I brought him there, And he is now a fan. He didn't even know the names (Just Kyo because of my little obsession because he is my fav). And he walked out glowing. He is now slowly budding into a Toshiya fanboy (he was standing in the front row on Toshiya's side).
That and he has been humming Child Prey for a week.

And also as far as Hot Topic. I very rarily go. For two reasons. 1. For the high price, they are low quality clothes. 2. For the most part HT doesn't fit my "Personal Style" (God I love America's Next Top Pretend Model). I might go in like once every 2 months. Which for a person who goes shopping once a week is not a lot  Ocassionally they have something that might catch my eye. But its rare. The last thing I bought from HT was Cure Magazine.

But HT is despite everyones whining a really good marketing tool for Dir en grey. As it will appeal more to that crowd. I mean really can you Imagine Dir en grey Merch at an American Eagle with them blasting Clever Sleazoid in the store. Or at D.E.M.O surrounded by all the Hip hop clothes and bling bling, with their T-Shirts sitting on the same shelf as G-Unit or Apple Bottome. Dear God No.

I do not wan't to go into an agrument about HT but let me say this from what I have seen HT appeals to confused preteens who want to fit in and rebel against their mommies and daddies and whom have nothing better to after school or on saturdays so they sit in front of the store as if its some holy place. I do not think DEG wants to appeal to those kind of people.

EDIT: your link is not working NaNa and when the hell is DEG going to post up the L.A pics? They are probably removing me from each one those bastards!

And after a show I'd be writing a huge *** detailed acount of the experience from the moment I got a ticket to the instant I got home and realize what just happened. I wouldn't rush to their OHP and spending hours refreshing the page till I saw pictures posted and then try to spot a strand of hair that belongs to me in a squashed mass of hundreds fans in some photo on their site. What on earth does that accomplish? What do you get out of that? "Oh look... there's half of my face. You can see part of my nose and the rest of my face is kinda masked by my sweaty hair. Hey, is it true that some people got to meet Dir en grey backstage?

Cos apparently there are people all over the internet claiming they have... including my friend's friend's sister's friend or whatever.

They said there would be no fan opportunities to see them after the concert, and I was content believing that well, if I couldn't meet them it meant no one else could either (I know, so selfish, huh? :D), but then today I found out that some people did get to!!! I feel a bit sad and jealous...

Like, there were people bringing cameras and video-taping the whole thing, and I, trying to be a good concert-goer, didn't bring my camera because the rules said no. Well, the security didn't even check our bags!!

I guess they had connections... though that's sorta unfair... not everyone knows the right people... Hah, I guess I should stop complaining and be glad I got to see them at all, but I would've so loved to meet Dir en grey in person. I'm quite envious.

And after a show I'd be writing a huge *** detailed acount of the experience from the moment I got a ticket to the instant I got home and realize what just happened.

Hey... that's an idea! :note: I think it's too late for me though... my mind has started to selectively edit and blow my memories out of proportion... as which often happens when you retell your stories too many times with too much enthusiasm...

Mar 29, 2006, 11:51
Norm... I thought you'd never ask. :thankyou: HAHA!

No it's not just you guys... truuuust meeee!!!!! haha. For once I'd like to read a proper review of the gig... but from a fan not a reporter. Is that too much to ask? You know how irritating it is to want to know about the show from a fan's view point about the musical and technical stand point. You read through so many fangirly reviews from stupid fans that make you just want to vomit your internal organs onto your keyboard. I don't give a sh*t what they looked like... I don't care if they dressed like hobos and smelled worse than cabbage. C'mon... this is too much. I hate even going on anything Diru related these days. It's like every review every comment is a battle of the fangirls... who can gain higher status by exaggerated or fabricated stories. Who had the better gig experience. If it's not... it's whining and b*tching about unfairness. I thought D'espairsRay reviews were bad... Dir en grey reviews are downright nauseating.

I seriously just want to post something outrageous stories like I ran into Shinya before the show but didn't say anything to him, but I knew he was totally checking me out. Then then whole time since he was thinking about me constantly and at the end of the show he rubbed his drumstick all over his crotch and threw it directly too me... then sought me out after the show cause he wanted me to bear his children like no other and said he'd like to introduce me to his other drumstick... LOL. I have the urge to just completely throw everyone off so much their brains swell and explode. I'm so mean... haha... but it's great fun!

Retelling stories with too much enthusiasm turns into fishtales... soon you'll be hearing fans meeting Kyo and Kyo jr. was a whopping 14 inches... or some ridiculous similar sh*t... haha.

Oh... it hurts... I can't laugh anymore... I'm so lame laughing at myself... I find myself too entertaining... it should be wrong to love myself so much... haha.

Coshh, yeah, a lot of people seem to be complaining about the fans. Many of them have good stuff to say, but after a while it just gets ridiculous. Of course, if you're a fan you would like to see the band in person, and be upset if some people got to who weren't supposed to... but some people call them complaining idiots. Retelling your story with enthusiasm isn't necessarily made-up sick fantasies about getting it on with a certain bandmember... it could just mean reliving the absolutely amazing experience of your first concert ever... like me. (I felt so lucky to be there. It's an experience I'll never forget.) *cough* Moving on...

I think people are just using extreme examples to overgeneralize all fans. I believe there is a respectful 'silent majority' out there, that just don't bother to post their thoughts online. Sure, there are the scum who battle over who knew them first and how long they were fans, who write nasty yaoi fanfiction about them, who lust after the poor boys and spin disgusting stories, etc etc etc. But not all fans are like that. Just because fans might comment on how nice the band looks doesn't mean they're automatically horny fangirls in for the band's bodies, and just because fans ARE talking about their OWN experiences at the concert and their great vantage spot in the venue doesn't mean they're jealously comparing who had the better show. There are lots of aspects of being a fan... music being the main but not the only.

Bands aren't anything without their fans. Well, alright, they could be indies or garage bands without fans... but they certainly would not be what they are today, and come so far musically and personally. There are bad fans and the good. Most people at some point may have been a shallow fangirl/boy but caught themselves and have now grown and matured. Very likely yourself. Don't think you're above the rest... we're not perfect and we're quite capable of that. But we can change.

So just chill people... not everyone is out to rape the band, y'know. Some fans might be upset that they didn't get to go, and complaining about bad fans makes them feel better. But that doesn't help anything, in fact it worsens the hopes to restore the greatness of this Dir en grey thread everyone keeps saying has deteriorated.

[/end of speech] Sorry it's so long... I just had to get that out. And I don't mean to stab at anybody... I'm just sick of the fan-bashing. Happy thoughts, fellow Dir en grey fans. :-)

On a more positive note - a rather good WTD review, for those of you who haven't seen it. OK, so it says they look like "a bunch of transvestites" (wtf?! :okashii: someone's been looking at old photos :wary: ), but the rest is good... :-)

Yikes!!! I feel loved! Thank you! :thankyou:

I know what you mean, BB, about it being like a piece of Dir en grey history. The first time they played in the US. Honestly, it must have been a really moving experience to be a part of that. I guess one of the awesome things about going to any concert is the feeling of cameraderie and unity with the other fans there, and never more strongly when they are a foreign band playing for the first time in your country and you are only too aware of the importance of showing your collective support to the band themselves - and also to industry people, because, as a group of fans, it's your presence that's helping them to make their mark on the music scene in your country. With any concert you go to, of any band, there's going to be a share of other attenders that annoy you by their attitudes or behaviours, whether it's Dir en grey, Iron Maiden or... or... Backstreet Boys! But when it comes to the crunch, you're all shooting for the same goal.

I'm damn sure I'm going to see Dir en grey live one day, but I can imagine that their first concerts ever in US are quite unlike any other experience. :-)

For me Kyo's sexyist hair style would have to be the Farrah Faucet hair of Final Ugly Kingdom or whatever. Although my favorite look is actually the Saku Look (I guess I am weird right now) I actually had a lot of complaints about how Kaoru's hair looks now But now I love it, and it is currently for me one of his better looks. Kaoru is the one to me who has the most hit and miss looks. I liked Shinya with the braids, and Toshiya with his Blitz hairstyle with the black and I think pink or red frosting. And Die I prefer his bright spiky red hair, but his hair now is hot.

And their I am rambling about hair. As for being a fan. I don't consider myself a fangirl cause I say oh he looks good like this or I prefer this to this. Whats wrong with liking the way a person looks? As long as I like the music equally or more so, I don't see a problem.

Very well said Nana. I can't agree with you more. I don't understand how people automatically think someone is a fangirl just because we say so&so looks good...or hot. It's true.. They are hot.. It's just like seeing everyday people as well. If someone is good looking and I'm with some friends.. I'll point it out.. Now that I look at this I think the ones that I personally use is Crescent Shop and Akibado, but you can check and see which one you prefer (or is cheaper) although the really really cheap ones can take a long time to ship like 1-2 months. While the more expensive ones you tend to get your item in about 4 wks.

I know when I'd get the dvd too I'd still be watching them instead of looking for .0000000000000000047628 seconds footage of myself... but that's me... perhaps I'm just strange like that.

ahaha, i love you and all your awesomenessisity so much. :D

but anyway, i both agree and...i kind of don't :relief: of course i can only say for myself, but for me trying to be in pictures or on the DVD is more to kind of...prove it to myself. as i still believe it was all a dream.
but anyway, i spent the whole concert fighting my way to the front (man i had THE BEST SPOT) so i could see Kyo. :cute: and i spent the whole show watching him. but if the camera...happened...to come my way, i of course waved just for the novelty of it. in all honesty i will probably be cut from the final copy, but...meh. oh well. :D
although...i did get myself right in front of the camera. :smug: this was after the concert had ended though, during the mad rush to the merchandise booth. one of the cameramen was filming us leaving, so i jumped right in front, waved, and said "aishiteru!" XDDD i hope i do not get cut...XDDD

...understand, though, that doing so was not me trying to get myself on film so i could buy the DVD just to see myself (wtf, that would be so lame, support the band, people! who cares about you? hahaha). rather, i have secret ulterior motives. :smug: the way i figure it is that maybe i'll get lucky and Kyo will see me on the DVD and then realise i am his one true love. :smug: and the entire JRock community will be so stunned by my awesomenessisity that the will immediately succumb to my will, BWAHAHAHAHA! (of course i represent you in this, as well, PK. :D) hahahaha, wtf i am so lame! :D

but i definitely did the full account thing on my xanga. i had to. :D from the moment i left school early to the moment i got home, ahahaha.

--

oh...i read that article about Diru...:( it made me mad. the journalist made it sound like the band was only liked for its physical appearence, and he kept calling Diru "goth". THEY ARE NOT GOTH. seriously. Kyo himself has said it a million times. wtf, people. research before you write an article! :( ...i admit it, though. i sent a letter to the editor in complaint. and i was sure to put at the end "P.S. it's written "Dir en grey", not "Dir En Grey". please font this correctly in the future". AHAHAHAHAHA.

ugh...forgive me for my insane post...it is 10:49pm, and i always lose my mind at 10:30...seriously. ugh, my mind... :buuh:

Way to go drain_away, you tell him! [or her >.>] I say tell them that they're stupid. People think that just cause they seem a bit dark and they were VK in the past, that what...they will automatically be a goth band? That is total BS! Now look, for me its all about the music and it doesn't matter if they WERE to be goth, I'd still love their music but since they are not, then people 'should' research before writing articles! Its stupid and ignorant on their part. When they write about this stuff, they have to know what their saying or else don't write anything at all! Because I'm sure true Dir en grey fans don't want to read all this incorrect junk about the band!
(ps: as for the capitilization, lol I at times spell it: Dir en Grey but only cause its a force of habit from when I got into their music, I thought that it looked right that way but then found out it was wrong....but it just stuck! I'm sorry! >.< oh woe is me! haha I love Dir en grey so much!

Ahhh... what have I missed these few days...

That jrocker-looking guy... there were loads like him, some serious eye-candy men. There was this group of tall Asian guys with dyed hair, makeup and the whole jrock-style accessories, and really cool clothes... I so wish I brought a camera. Anyone know who I'm talking about and/or have pictures?!?!

But geez... it IS fun to wave in a camera for the sake of it. Some of us have great camera presences, yo. And it's true... a lot of us still feel like it's a dream (especially those of us with no proof it really happened besides crumpled up tickets).

That reminds me. Need to do the full account thing before the last traces of detail leaves my dazed brain. It's a piece of history... it felt so amazing to be able to experience and be a part of that.

Me too! I hate it when people who don't know anything about a band write and make generalizations about them. Plus, I always thought that spelling or pronouncing names wrong after you're SUPPOSED to already know is one of the worst forms of disrespect. Your name is part of your identity... as with Dir en grey's band name.

Kyo your one true love? whoa... what happened to Die? If he's yesterday's trash I get first dibbs on him then!!! jk XD

I kind of understand your point... but then I don't XDDD The best gig I ever saw was Muse last May... it was the most liberating experience of my life... the best day of my life (so far XDDD). I was hoping they'd release of the american tour cause I wanted to relive that night... not really to see myself... I have a wrinkled ticket a poster I stole off the columns and a couple crap quality photos on my camera phone as proof... plus some unforgettable memories... who know I might be on their new dvd... I haven't seen it yet... I probly would be being second row smack infront the guitarist/vocalist and it being the final act of the tour... I honestly hope not... I was not looking so hot that night... haha.

I'd make my own shirts and save my money for cds/dvds... but that's me... I did make a Kaoru one. HAHA... I should take a picture of my Kaoru shirt I designed from one of my artworks of him.

Important Announcement:
There are a few videos and photos of the Showcase Tour floating around the internet, which is in direct violation of the main rule we publicly stated- NO cameras or recording devices of any kind allowed.
If these unauthorized materials are not removed promptly, legal action will be taken against you.
Don't let a few disrespectful people jeopardize Dir en grey's chances of touring in America again.

I haven't seen anyone do it here but just letting you know this was on Free-Will America's website so don't even think about! XD Also if you see people distributing stuff anywhere please report it.

Sorry for the double post but check cds when you get them from conventions. Usually they get cheap bootlegs from a popular companies like the Taiwanese company MIYA RECORDS. They pass them off as originals and sell them at usual prices. I mistakenly got a couple of those and had to get actual copies. If there is something you know that you want to get then it'd be a good idea to jot down the product numbers and the record company names of the bands and bring it with you. It's a waste of money to have to re-purchase stuff cause you end up with bootlegs. Being the moral person I am I can't bring myself to sell the bootlegs seeing as the bands make no profit of it so I'm stuck with them. *sighs*

About the videos. I haven't seen any, all the ones I have seen looked pretty official except for The Final at SxSW. But I know some people had pictures up, like the girl who said she got Kyo's autograph and that lucky somofabiotch who got backstage. And they took those down, although I personally have mixed feelings on some of those and I don't want to start a flame war, so yea I'll shut up.

But let me just say this There were a TON of pictures of the band in Europe and Clips of them in Europe and FWE says nothing, yet FWA has some serious PMS, I guess its just the U.S and its lawsuit happy culture.

Edit:

I don't support the people who took pictures or vids INSIDE the venue.

And about bootlegs, heck honey unless you want to spend the 50 for a real cd i see no problem.

@Rikyo, I am trying to go. I found cheap airline tickets, a reasonably priced hotel, and a credit card ready. But all I need is tickets. I have no idea how to get them. And I don't want to get the plane tickets till I know for sure if I will have tickets for the concert, but then I don't want to wait till I get tickets and the plane ticket goes up cause I found a REALLY good deal. $520 RT.

I have heard that Crescent Shop also buys tickets for you, but I don't know how it works. Does anyone know how to go about getting the tickets?
That's not bad for round trip hell I'd take that and I'd buy the plane and hotel ticket because even if you don't get a ticket to see Diru at least you'll get to be on vacation in Japan and you may even run into Diru on the streets there :-)

Hmm if you want them to get a ticket or two for you for one of the Diru concerts, I'd email them and ask them about how getting concert tickets for you works, I looked at the site and I haven't seen anything under FAQ's for both Shopping and Auction Deputy. So the best bet would be to honestly email them about it. I know with Akibado you can join fan clubs through them.

Haha, I hope my job last also haha. But Its cool, cause its not as if I am paying for everything at once ya know? Right now I have money for the plane ticket. Then by May I will have enough for the tickets. By June the hotel will be paid off, and then the last three paychecks, will be my expenses. Haha, I am serious about this.

In December of 2006 you will be required to have a passport to go up to Canada and to return to the US... Useless information there.
