pierced baby face t-shirts

A friend asks...
what's up with all the t-shirts being sold in Japan with close-ups of (gaijin) baby faces? The faces have sunglasses perched on their heads and some of them have nose & lip piercings. My friend saw them both in Osaka and Okinawa.

Those are not typically Japanese i think, as i've seen those before. Can't exactly remember where that was. Could have been when i was in Thailand last september, but might as well have been overhere in Holland.
