You're not the only one who's gay/bisexual. I am too... There is no proof that they ARE actually bi. I like to bring up that incident when Brittney Spears kissed that other girl (duno who it was) on TV... Last time I remember, she's married, with child, and she's not gay or bi; its all just for publicity. :souka: There have been a multitude of things I've read, both on Russian and English forums (yes, I'm part Russian, and know the language better than English) And from what I've read, and from what I've heard on Russian TV, this whole lesbian/gay stuff is all BS. :okashii:

Me and my girlfriend personally love them. Even if they aren't "lesbians" they gave us hope. When I first heard/saw the vid to "All the Things She Said" it was literally one of those shinning light moments. I remember my knees gave out and I crumpled in front of the TV unable to get up for several minutes. They gave me hope. I realized I wasn't the only teen going through this, it's stupid, I know, but for awhile there I really thought I was all alone on this. Through their music I realized that it's okay to be who I am. I owe them my life, not my literal breathing-blood-pumping life but my emotional life. If nothing else they gave me, and many like me and my girlfriend, hope.

Forced to define their feelings? Well if they ever "break up" I doubt theyd get together with other girls... having feelings towards one person is different from having a general feeling towards a certain gender. They may like eachother, but not necessarily be bisexual.

I'm glad their music has had some influence on you, but its got no impact from my side. People are different, people need different things for assurance and such, and I've known tatu enough to be able to judge them, and my girlfriend doesn't like them much either; their music isn't our type, and I personally dislike Russian music in general.

Then, off course, (and LORD knows I've been dreaming about it), there could be some other, unknown reasons to why Mana would slap Gackt's ***, or Miyavi would wanna kiss Daigo - they might have been happy, or felt a strong bond to the other guy, or attracted. I wouldn't know, and nor will I. However, the fact remains that most jrockers aren't gay at all. Doing fanservice is going beyond the boundaries of sexuality - not caring wether you're hetero, bi or gay. They do it for the beauty of it. OR just so that they can please their fans... OR as Gackt, who said he did it when he wanted to express his strong feelings for the person, like a strong bond of friendship.(and I could find the quote)

The reason I said sexuality and fanservice go together is that fanservice is expressing sexuality maybe not sexual orientation but sexuality. And hell, it's been proven that one in every ten people is gay so going by that SOMEBODY in J-Rock HAS GOT TO BE gay. *nods firmly*

Well, that's some of it. I swear if I ever met Gackt I'd make it a point to say "boku" as many times as humanly possible and watch him physically flinch every time.
What bugs me is by his on admission he puts sex above a lot of other important things and yes does objectify women. And it's not me saying this from a "western" stand point. It's just, as a women, I find it offensive. And the differences between how men "should" talk and how women "should" talk isn't what bugs me it's the original reason for it. That's why I never say "atashi" it's always "boku" with me. I mean I have a great respect for Asian culture and these problems aren't just found in Asia so don't think I'm picking on them. Hyde: I agree and understand what you're saying. However, I still think it OK when Gackt says these things about 'how women are supposed to speak'. Japan still has big differences when it comes to male/female, even more so than Europe or America (but sometimes not). Since the japanese culture is still divided in male/female, if you grow up in that society you're gonna get affected. For example, many japanese think that a married woman should stay at home and cook and take care of the children, whereas this 'traditional image' of a woman might be changing in Europe or America (and lord knows it's about to change in Japan too!) . What Gackt says is what a lot of japanese guys think - and also what a lot of japanese WOMEN think...

I never really gave it much thought. It's like... some guys just have different preferences of women. Some men like women who are small, cute, look and act kind of "girly", have "feminine" sounding voice... etc. etc... others prefer more "strong" sort of character, more independent-seeming (I don't mean in real personality necessarily - just in the image they put across). Different looks and mannerisms attract different people, for different reasons. I grew up a girly girly, I still am a girly girly, I get my hair and nails done, love to wear dresses and skirts ( I wear pants also in fact I have like over 25 pair of jeans) And stilleto's are my friend. There are extremes and I've been from one to the other and I must say that I like this one better though it gets me in quite a lot more trouble. But it's honest to who I am. Being the nice girl is sometimes honest to who other's are and therefor it doesn't bother me. But the problem is women are expected to be the nice girl even if it isn't who they are.

Ok, as far as Gackt wanting a soft spoken well mannered woman, doesn't mean anything except him wanting a well mannered woman. It might seem sexist but it doesn't mean anything, except that's his type of women. Everybody has their own image of what the perfect woman.

I'm a big fan of Gackt but the stuff he says about women annoys me, especially when I think about all the young impressionable young girls who are dying to get his approval that are hearing him saying all this stuff.

What really bugs about is that Gackt fools around with gender roles a lot (even dresses like a woman sometimes) and yet he denies the same thing from women? Seems like in Japan men are allowed to look feminine and kiss each other on stage without people screaming "ghey!!!111ichi", and yet women aren't allowed to experiment in similar ways.

It's not about being feminine or not- it's about the very limited definition people have about what *is* feminine. If being feminine means acting like a child even though I'm in my 20s (aka lolita complex in japan) then I'm not feminine and I don't want to be. I just wish people would stop forcing their ideas of femininity and masculinity on others...

Yeah, being a woman in Japan is still very limited - and I think you put it very well, Hobbitfeet!

However, I can't feel angry because of this, since it goes way back and things are obviously changing. A big cultural question like this isn't something that's going to change overnight. It will change, but slowly. Japan today has already gone trough some major changes when it comes to this gender role problem - and I feel certain and hopefull that things will turn out better and better.

... but the lolitacom in Japan is worrying though... because in that question things haven't improved, but rather turned out to become quite a problem - The lolita complex has turned from bad to worse in the last years, and japanese men seem to look for women who acts less and less their age. Even if the female ideal is different in Japan, this cannot excuse why the number one sex object should be a highschool girl in these days :okashii: Back in the eighties, at least it was the decent office lady... This is quite worrying... and is a threat to the development of a future Japan with a wider, freer definition of feminine.

But one thing is positive: They DO have a very open view on men and their sexuality. Men are allowed to expleriment a lot, and cross the gender-borders without anyone thinking that's nasty. It's infact considered beautiful if a man dresses like woman. And on this topic, I think Japan has realized something that western countries haven't - there's still horribly little acceptance when it comes to men experimenting with gender roles in the west.

Okay, I know that was fast but I think I may have calmed down enough. I just needed a few hours to have a complete melt down there. Okay, so first things first. I am very sorry for going all ape s**t on everyone. Gomen nasai :gomen:
And yes, I could have made a section but would it have done any good? Maybe if I were thinking clearly I would have made a thread, if I had been thinking clearly. But I think it's obvious that I was not thinking clearly. When my emotions spill over like that the last thing I'm doing is thinking clearly. That's not an excuse simply an explanation. I think I have a clearer head now and if it starts getting bad again I will try and pull out sooner before I do any damage.
Again I am terribly sorry for my actions, I over reacted plain and simple. In the future I will try to keep that nasty side of myself locked up but I can't promise. As this has shown I don't have the best self control in the world and sometimes things get loose without my meaning them to. Again not an excuse I have no excuse.
I guess what I'm trying to say, very iliteratly, is that I'm sorry and I will try and keep better control in the future.
