Hey guys, going for a day trip to Himeji. Any tips on places to go people to see?

I have been to the castle and the garden already, anything out of the ordinary I should check out? What about places near himeji?

THanks

Hey, I used to live in Himeji.

As hiroyuki nagashima says, you should definitely be sure to go to Engyoji temple while there. It is a 11th century temple complex on a mountain top northwest of the city that is nestled amid very picturesque old trees. If you've seen the move "The Last Samurai" then you'll recognize a lot of the temple buildings which were featured in it.

Other than that and the castle, Himeji doesn't offer much to the visitor. You might want to check out Kokoen, the Japanese garden located right next to the castle which is quite nice this time of the year.

Hope you have a good trip!

senseiman, do you know the sunflower place, it's around 2,5 hour drive north from himeji. I went there this summer, but forget the name's place.

I also only have been to the castle, so next year I will go visit some more things there
