Watch all The Ring and Ringu movies. Watch Audition (will scare you s**tless), The Others, The Sixth Sense (no horror movie junkie should go without seeing that film), A Nightmare on Elm Street, Black Christmas, Alice Sweet Alice, and I could go on and on but I'll stop there.

The Sixth Sense really creeped me out. Bad.
Of course The Blair Witch Project creeped me out too.
A lot of people made fun of those two, but I thought they were really freaky. I used to love horror movies and be a complete horror movie junkie, but they creep me out too much now. I can barely watch horror movies anymore. Just call me a wimp. :p
**Edit**
Some of my favorites, back when I was a horror flick junkie:
Pet Semetary
Silence of the Lambs
Candyman (the first one)
Trilogy of Terror (saw it at 4, scared me to death, haven't seen it since...if I did see it now, I'd probably think it was cheesy)
The Exorcist (of course)
Poltergeist
Nightmare on Elm Street (just the first one)
It
Lots more, but those are ones that come to mind.

They scare me s**tless and I'm addicted to being scared outta my mind. It's a rush unlike anything else. I am addicted to horror films...goods ones anyway. Stupid Slashers, no, but physcological horror that gets under your skin and ruins your life HELL YEAH! Like The Ring/Ringu movies, they get under your skin and do lasting damage to your mind. I can't go into a room without checking the reflection in the TV screen to make sure Sadako/Samara isn't there. I've been doing that for nearly a YEAR now. See? Lasting damage. I love it. And yes, I know I'm a freak.

For a psychological scare try Kairo (a.k.a. Pulse), which has been getting some U.S. theater releases as of late. Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Cure is another psychological thriller w/ blood, and Tell Me Something is pretty sweet too.

They werent scary, but they were considered horror movies, and were brilliant in spite of their lack of fear
Dead and Breakfast
The Dead Next Door
If you want actual fear, Rubber Johnny is probably one of the very most truly disturbing films ever made.
If you want fear and are willing to jump outside movies, play Call of Cthulu for the Xbox. I know this is in the wrong section for recommendations, but its so worth it to check out.

Is it me or am I th only one who felt like cheering when those annoying kids got their commupence in The Blair Witch Project. A whinging, whiney trio that deserved to be got rid of. And the sequel was even worse.
The ones I liked are:
Nightmare on Elm Street (original)
Candyman (original)
Hellraiser (original, plus I'm a Clive Barker fan)
Audition
Chakushin Ari
Alien (IMO the best psychlogical horror film ever)

A Nightmare on Elm Street (original) is the only Slasher that actually scared me. Most Slasher films just make me laugh but that one scared me. Couldn't sleep for days after watching it. Brilliant. :cool:

One Missed Call (Chakushin ari)

Shallow Ground

The Amityville Horror 2005
"On November 14th, 1974, police received a frantic phone call that led them to the DeFeo residence, where they made a grisly discovery- 6 bodies, the entire DeFeo family, all slaughtered with a .35 caliber as they slept calmly in their beds. Ronald DeFeo confessed to methodically murdering his parents and four siblings, and claimed it was the "voices" that told him to do it. One year later, on December 18, 1975, George and Kathy Lutz along with their three children moved into the house, thinking it was going to be their dream home. A few days later, George starts to hear the voices too..."

Creep
Unexpectedly leaving a party in central London alone, chic and savvy Kate can't find a taxi and so decides to take the subway home. Slightly tipsy, Kate falls asleep on the platform, and wakes to discover the place deserted, the last train departed and the station locked up for the night. Instinctively feeling the only way out is to head back down to the platform, Kate unwittingly boards a mysterious empty train for a nightmarish journey into the merciless labyrinth of the underground.
The terror begins for Kate as a sinister work colleague who has secretly followed her onto the train is savagely attacked by something lurking in the darkness. Following this gruesome encounter, Kate is faced with the desperate task of battling her way out of the closed Underground. She begins to realise that something - or someone - is creeping through the tunnels, intent on making sure she does not leave the underground world alive.

This is just a few of my horror DVDs that I can recommend. They are all around the average horror and will not scare you to death, but will put a scream or two in some of you (Just ask Philip in here :D).
Pictures taken from Axelmusic.dk, PLot taken from IMDB.com. I take no credit for the plot summary or images of the covers.

I bought the sequel to Chakushin Ari (One missed call) not long back. The original is better, but I do like Takashi Miike films, so maybe I'm a bit biased.

Well I don't think I'm going to Buy the sequel to One missed call... The only reason for my purchase of the first, was because I saw Anna Nagata and Kou Shibasaki was appearing in this film (yup I had just seen Battle Royale :D )
Though I must say it was an Incredible good horror movie. actually one of the few horror movies that actually scared me. Its sad that western Horror movies are so pathetic compared to what they make in Asia.
Ohh by the way, Miss apollo If you didnøt like Creep. Don't watch "The Descent"... its a little better, but its basically just a whole bunch of inbreeds "Creep'ers" actually I think it is the same make-up artists and Instructors. Because the beasts from The Descent is exactly the same as in Creep, just with another background( actually no background)
I've seen so many horror movies in my life that I have forgotten half of them O_o;
But here are the ones I like the most:
Shiryo no wana ("Evil Dead Trap" from -88)
Brutal killing, real scary brutal killing...it's awesome =3
Uzumaki ("Spiral" -00)
I know Asian movies can be WIERD, but damn this one is wierder then anyone I have ever seen and it's damn scary and even more damned good! =D
Omen 1, 2 and 3 ("The Omen I" -76, "The Omen II"-78 an "The Omen III"-81)
Ahhh..the unforgettable trilogy about the Devils son reborn..
Not so very scary, but they are really really good...
The Exorcist (-73)
Still the scariest movie there is...period!
Geoul Sokeuro ("Into the Mirror" -03)
Awesome South Korean horror, scary as heeeell~ >_<;
Itainoga Suki ("Naked Blood" -95)
Really sick and twisted but damn good if your stomache can stand gore =3
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (-74)
Yes, the original from 1974, not the new crap, the original one...awesome movie~ *drool*
Thriller - En Grym Film ("Thriller - A Cruel Movie"/"They Call Her One Eye" -74)
Wooh!
Swedish brutality, not really horror..but it's good! =3
Hard to come by, but totally worth it when you do!
Inspired a certain Quentin Tarantino to the Kill Bill movies =3
Cannibal Holocaust (-80)
Very good movie, not so very scary, but damn good made and an awesome story =3
George A. Romeros Zombie Tetralogy ("Night of the Living Dead" -68, "Dawn of the Dead" .78, "Day of the Dead" -85 and "Land of the Dead" -05)
Best Zombie Movies there is!
Romero is the father of modern-day Zombies! =D
28 Days Later (-02)
Damn bloody scarie!
Just seeing thoose empty London streets is enough for a man to wanna shut the movie off =3
Saw (-04)
Best new horror movie!
Awesome story, sweet effects and damn scary~ >.<;
Evil Dead Trilogy ("The Evil Dead" -81, "Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn" -87 and "Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness" -93)
The first one scares you,
The second one makes you doubt your sanity,
and the third one is just wierd...but they are damn good! =D
Well...that's the ones I can think of right now <.<;;;;
Oh..and I'll list some that sucks so royally that you should never watch em:
Shallow Ground (-05)
Creep (-04)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (-03)
Yeah..they royally suck <.<

These I won't even call Horror :D. The first is fiiled with cheasy speacial effect, and really dont have anything else to offer than some nasty goo and lots of blood from a few rotten corpses that supposedly are to be demon possed womens (?)
The third Is just a comedy, Plain and simple. But love it nontheless for its humor. An Army of skeletons running around saying "Have at you!" "put your backbones into it" and my favourite "I've got a bone to pick with you"
I havent seent the second one, But I guess if it lies between the 1st and the 3rd, it would be like a Peter Jackson movie, just without humor :-)
Oh yes you mention the trilogy of the dead (though now a qradology with the new Land of the dead as the 4th movie in this series) The first Night of the Living dead Scared me shitless when I was 8 or 9. I remember it was the only movie that really freaked me out and gave me paranioa for days. It was also my first encounter with the term "Zombies". After having seen it a few years later I was freaked shitless by the poor acting skills and the bad effect (yup that was rope they where eating) but nonetheless its the best low budget movie I have ever seen. and a classic
Romeo's trilogy was superb, and a must see classic. I dont like his new Land of the dead so much.
Uzumaki ("Spiral" -00)
I know Asian movies can be WIERD, but damn this one is wierder then anyone I have ever seen and it's damn scary and even more damned good! =D
I didn't find Uzumaki scary, in fact, I found it weird and hilarious! I must admit that I didn't think the film was "all that" – I have seen better Japanese weird horror films, such as "Kairo" etc..

It's in fact the funniest of the three Evil Dead movies <.<;
Especially this quote:
Ash(while looking at his mirror image in the mirror):
I'm fine...I'm fine..
(His mirror image stretches out from the mirror and grabs him)
Mirror Ash: I don't think so! We just cut up our girlfriend with a chainsaw! Does that sound "fine"? :D
So it's very muy like a Jackson movie actually <.<;
And yes, the first Zombie movie ever...featuring the "new" kinds of Zombies...slow...braindead..hungry for human flesh Zombies =3
It's not actually "scary"...but it has this kind of Japanese Horror feeling...not the Hollywoodian "BOOM Horror....calm.....BOOM Horror!"...japanese have this kinda....atmostphere that makes you wanna run away from the TV <.<;
That feelign do at least I get every time I watch Night of the Living dead =3

Mind you, I was 8-9 years, and alone (except for my cousin). Worst things that it was a taped version from the night before.. sadly the tape had runned out just when the zombies break into the house, so we just got all the horror scenes in the movie.
After hearing your Quote from Evil Dead 2 I found a need for seeing it... sounds really funny.
ohh yeah, "Hide and Seek" with robert DeNiro is also worth seeing. Though it isnt as scary, it has a Saw-kinda ending. so if you loved Saw you will like this movie too.
And an Action movie you must see: Alone in the Dark. Though it suffers from one huge a low bugdet scene, it is a fair movie. but mainly because it has the coolest Monstar vs Gunfight scene with the song "Ghost" by danish band Mnemic. It really touched me emotianally when I saw/heard that Scene :-)

Yes yes..I was talking about how it is now..at the age of 18 Night of the Living Dead ain't that scary...but when one was small...it's scary as heeell~ >.<;
Myeah..it's damn funny =3
But you won't find it especially connected with the first movie...it sort of is a remake of Evil Dead 1 <.<
but Evil Dead 3 is a direct follow-up on Evil Dead 2 =3
"Hide and Seek" never saw that one....my friends would rather go to "Boogeyman"....wich we still to this day can't forgive ourselves for diong...it sucks..alot >.<

yup I have Boogeyman on DVD too. I bought it because I heard that it was from the producers of the american version of The Grudge, So I thought they had learned some skills. But you're right it sucked utterly! I guessed already at the beginning when you see his action figure, that that was going to be the look of the boogeyman. And thats bad since I don't usually guess so important things in a movie the first time I see it.
So my advice to everyone else would be exactly like asp's: Dont watch Boogyeman!
House of Wax I also need to ad. Its more of an american action/horror so not as much thrilling fear as there is blood. Its a pretty cool movie, but I guess it only worth watching the first time. Also filled with alot of sick stuff :D
