Right now I beleive my favorite is Kenshin and Gundam Wing because of obvious reasons. I have also seen Excel saga a couple of times, but they don't show it here. Back when I was younger I used to watch City Hunter, Saint Seya, and the two soccer pals, the young kids, I don't know what's it called in English cuz I used to watch it in italian. But do any of you know the name of this old show about a boy who got turned into this white robot with a moon sign on his head and he would battle some evil robots who took over the earth?

CB it's probably the best anime series I have ever watched, but it can be sometimes a bit intense, completely noir in it's type, so some people might not like it.
Well, not all noir since there is some pretty funny episodes on it, but rule of the thumb it's noir.

Excell Saga... hmm... man that was SO weird. I guess I wasn't (still ain't) ready for anime nonsense comedy. Some skecthes made me laugh but others had so deep references that usually made me wonder "wtf?...".

Edit:
The soccer anime, I think it's called Captain Hawk, but I'm not sure. I do remember the name of the soccer star, which was called Tsubasa. Jeezz... The 10 minutes overtimes used to last 3-4 24 minutes episodes... :D

nadesico is a combo of mecha/sci-fi/war/comedy/romance, good series for mecha fans or not, has a good plot and good action with some parts which are pretty funny.

at the moment my fav animes are RahXephon (which far exceeds Neon Genesis Evangelion IMO), Berserk, and Rurouni Kenshin OVA.. for my manga i have a few GTO (of course), Ragnarok, Scryed, and Rave Master.

I really like Himura Kenshin a lot so of course I like Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai X!! Excel Saga is pretty funny. I really like Neon Genesis Evangelion because it's really deep and fun to watch as well. Saiyuki and OH INUYASHA!!! Those are really good ones as well.... I like anime is general, I guess

If you're interested, you should hook up with your local anime/manga club. There you can make contacts, start building a collection and getting exposed to more than what you can see on TV or at your video store.

Evangelion was very cool, although it ended really bad. If you want more of the same, you should endeavour to watch the old 70s and 80s giant robot anime series. The patterns are exactly the same.

also "ginga eiyuu densetsu" for its "otaku" feeling- evangelium is ok...and hokuto no ken"omae ha mou shinde iru"-can be quite funny....

I guess it's a generic answer, but I'd have to say Evangelion. I'm curious as to why almost everyone who's seen that and Rah Xephon says Rah Xephon is better. I've only seen the first episode of RX, and yes, like many other, I thought it resembled Evangelion way too strongly. I want to see more of it though, if for nothing else than the incredibly cool theme song, Hemisphere.
